GREYHOUND Painting Process (W/Commentary)
One fast way to improve your skills is to learn from great artists. Understanding how they create their art, breaking down their thought process and just generally seeing how they do art are as important as drawing stuffs by your own.
This is a painting process of Guweiz’s old artwork. Here, he shares what goes through his mind as he construct his portrait. He discusses the techniques he used, the decisions he made to better improve the impact of the artwork, and shared some tips to avoid common mistakes. Sadly though, Guweiz has only limited youtube videos but you can find more of it if you subscribe to his patreon.
Guweiz is someone I look up to. I really love his subjects and his art overall. I hope someday I can buy his book.

My Painting Process
Lately, I have been exploring other ways to construct my artworks. I then came upon the method of value painting that I have learned from Guweiz’s and WLOP’s painting process. So basically, value painting is a process that doesn’t use lines to describe a subject’s form, rather, it uses values to define shapes and differentiate your subjects from the background. I am really enjoying these method because not only is it a breath of fresh air but it also helped me fully realize that there isn’t only one way to ‘draw/paint’. Just the thought of having so much more to explore really does keep the fire in my heart ablaze.
(As you can see from my artwork above, I really still need to improve my fundamentals, especially understanding values. This is an OC character and her name is Wave.)

The Rise of Esports
Tumblr media
If someone tells you that you can earn millions of dollars just by playing a video game, most likely you wouldn’t believe that person, right? I mean, anyone would take that statement as a joke if we’re still living during the last decade. However, things have changed. The Esports scene just continuously grows and being a gamer now actually puts food in the table, lots of table.
Esports or electronic sports is basically sport competition using video games. Just like how any other sports organizations out there, Esports is professional and hosts a lot of tournaments and events for an endless variety of video games. There are tournaments for game genres like MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena), first-person shooters, fighting, racing, card games, RTS, those games you probably never thought could be played competitively and a whole lot other more. There is something for everybody!
Esports teams gather up multiple big sponsors (Red Bull, Nike, Nissan, Mountain Dew, etc.) to help ensure their players seal the multimillion-dollar prize pools (Oh yes, we’re talking cash right here). However, prize pools do vary a lot. It depends on the game that’s being played and the intensity of the event that it took place. This means that prizes could be as low as thousands of dollars or it could reach up to a staggering 36 million-dollar 1st place prize.
Although some might think that professional gamers do not deserve the money they get from playing video games, we must keep in mind that reaching their level of play requires thousands of hours to master. It’s just like how athletes and artists devote their time and effort into honing their individual skills in order to become the very best, like no one ever was.
Esports is no longer a puny entertainment aimed for nerds and geeks. It is now a very expensive industry that has investors have their eyes on and a haven for all of people who want to take a break from the real world and just dive into some good old competitive gaming.
