AYVALIK TOSTU DEĞİL , GERÇEGİ DİKİLİ TOSTUDUR..
Tüm Türkiye'de çok sevilen bu tost , gerçekte hangi kasabaya ait ?
Adı gibi Ayvalık'da mı ortaya çıktı yoksa 1950'li yıllardan beri bu tostu zaten bilen ve severek yiyen Dikili'de mi ?
Biraz araştırinca , Ayvalık Tostu’nun mucitlerinden sayılan Ali Dutlu ile yapılan bir söyleşiye göre, tostun Hikayesi şöyle.
“Ayvalık Tostu’nun en önemli özelliği ekmeğidir. Ayvalık’ın özgün tatlarından birisi de nohut mayasıyla yapılan Simit Ekmeğidir. İşte bunu 1983 yılında en iyi yapan fırın Hüseyin Sargın’a ait olan fırındı. Bu Fırında çalışan Karadenizli bir usta bu hamuru ve Kozak (Bergama) yöresinin pekmezini de kullanarak bir tost ekmeği yaptı. Ben de bu tost ekmeğini kullanarak kendi geliştirdiğim pişirme yöntemi ve malzemelerle bu tostu yapıp satmaya başladım. Önce Ayvalık’ta yaygınlaştı, daha sonra yerli turistler eliyle tüm Türkiye’ye. Şimdi kullanılan tost ekmeği bizim kullandığımız tost ekmeğine biçim olarak benziyor ama içindekiler farklı.”
Dikili'de doğup büyüyenlere göre ise , Adı ayvalık tostu konuldugu için öyle biliniyor olabilir ama bu tost çeşidi ayvalık'dan daha önce Dikili'de ortaya çıkmıştır.
1983 yılından öncede bu tost , Dikili'de yıllardir bilinen ve sevilen bir tost çesidiymiş ..Ortalama yaşı 65 ve üzerinde olanlar bu tost çeşidini çocukluk ve gençlik yıllarinda Asım'ın cafesi diye bilinen yerde yediklerini söylüyor..
