I’m sorry, I don’t know what to do. Everything’s fallen to pieces since your mother… Haven’t we lost enough already?

Annabel giggles quietly as she moves the pencil across the paper. John and Georgie sit on either side of her, so they form a super-secret, totally-impenetrable, nanny-proof circle of ultra-secretness. John whispers something and when she writes it down, all three of them break into a laughing fit.
“And then— And then Mary Poppins says, ‘Oh no! I lost my bag!’ but really, the Wolf stole it!” Georgie says dramatically, but then he starts giggling. “So Mary Poppins whacks him on the head with her umbrella!”
Annabel writes it down with a goofy grin on her face. The working title of this literary masterpiece, written at the top of the paper in wobbly handwriting, is Mary Poppins Goes On An Awesome Amazing Adventure. Suddenly, the children hear heels clicking on the floor and they all turn around to see Mary Poppins standing over them, eyes narrowed. “We’re not hyenas, Mary Poppins, we’re humans,” John answers her question matter-of-factly.
“She didn’t mean it like that, John,” Annabel says gently. But then she sees what Georgie’s trying to sneakily write down and starts laughing. The Wolf turns into a hyena and starts laughing at her so she says “How dare you laugh at me! I’m Marry Poppins!” and— “That’s not how you spell Mary,” she says. She reaches over to correct him, and all three of them seem to have forgotten that their nanny is still standing there.
when mary poppins walked inside the nursery, carrying three sets of fresh sheets, she was greeted by the most suspicious giggles. and under covered mouths, nonetheless! she stopped, narrowed her eyes, turned her nose right up, and gave each of the children a look. a look which said she knew just what they had been laughing about (she does knows everything), and that it was extremely rude.

‘what are you, pray –a pack of hyenas?’ but there was a the tiniest spark, well hidden in her look.a  spark in her eye that said she couldn’t be quite so cross.

“It’s alright, miss!” Bert says with a genuine smile. He’s kneeling down on the sidewalk, holding a piece of chalk just above the pavement. A drawing of a bright, colorful jungle is almost finished. The only thing left to touch up is a macaw, sitting front and center on a branch. “I was just wonderin’ if you’d be so kind as to donate a dollar or two.” He gestures to his cap, which is sitting on the ground next to him and already has a few dollars and coins inside. “No worries if you can’t, though,” he makes sure to add.

“ I’m… I’m sorry? You’re going to have to repeat that for me. “ It wasn’t that she wasn’t listening - well, not fully. It was more just that Calondra had a lot on her mind right now.

Marzena pauses for a moment before she smiles at her customer with a nod. Leaving her coffee to brew its own, she walks towards the fridge and gets the ice pack out of it. Once she returns to her position, she wraps the ice pack with a towel and slides it to her customer. “The coffee is going to be out soon, but you can wait while soothing your pain,” she smiles before goes back to check on her coffee. “Were you running late? You seemed quite busy as you entered this cafe,” she asks as she finishes his coffee with some sugar.
Michael takes the ice pack and holds it to his forehead, wincing a little at the cold. “Thanks...” He reads the name tag on her apron, smiling a little. “...Marzena.” He looks down at the table when he hears her question, embarrassed. “Er, no, I’m not running late. It’s a— It’s just that I can be very clumsy sometimes.” The reason why, Michael doesn’t say, but she didn’t ask for that, did she? He changes the subject quickly. “Anyway, my name’s Michael.”

@drecmcrcfters liked a starter call for jane!
Jane hums to herself as she tapes up bright, colorful posters for a Pride parade. It’s June now, and celebrations are scheduled for the entire month. She’s especially proud for this year’s parade, because she’d organized it. Weeks of long hours piled on top of her usual jobs hadn’t been fun. But now, in a few days, she’ll be able to see the fruits of her labor. Jane can’t help the grin that spreads across her face as she tapes another flyer up.
She continues walking down the street, posters held to her chest. Her heart feels full. She’s doing a good thing. A wonderful thing. And there’s no one that can dampen her spirit. Well... except for the person who suddenly bumps into her. The person doesn’t stop, just mutters an apology and keeps walking until they’re around the corner. “Asshole,” Jane mumbles. And then she realizes.
She’d dropped the posters. They’re scattered all over the ground now, and she lets out a surprised yelp before diving down on her knees to try and gather them all together. But there are so many of them, and she can’t get them all on her own. Then, as if the universe wants to make her frustrated, a small gust of wind blows half the posters farther down the street, away from her reach.
