Is this rp still active and are you accepting applications today?

Our activity has slowed a bit unfortunately but we are still here. With Admin Paige away we are actually going to put a pause on applications for a bit. We’ll be running on a Semi Hiatus until February 6th, then we will open up applications once again. :) 

Our members can of course continue plotting away and playing their characters and we’ll be back in full swing on the 6th. Thank you all for your patience and sticking with us!

The seven days have come and gone. 

The virus has run its course, and the city has returned to normal. Or as normal as can be expected. The wolves are still reeling from the change at the hands of the Blood Moon followed so quickly on the heels of the virus. Those infected are picking up the pieces of their lives, attempting to return their darkest nightmares to the deepest crevices of their minds, but some things cannot be unseen or undreamed. The supernatural community, at large, still struggles to come to terms with the fact that they are just as vulnerable to sickness, madness, and death as the humans they thought so weak.

In the shadows, questions still lurk even as most try to forget the past week: where did this virus come from? Did it have natural causes or are there darker forces at work in our beloved city?

Altogether, “normal” may take longer to achieve than anyone can project, but the spirit of resilience so unique to New Orleans is alive and well in each of its residents.

OOC Info:

- The event has ended and normal interactions can now be resumed. You are, of course, welcome to continue threads started during the event but no ones pertaining to the virus should be started.

- How your character (whether they were infected or not) was affected by the virus is completely up to you.

- We hope that you enjoyed this, our first event, and that it allowed you to explore parts of your character you may not have previously considered or parts considered but less explored.

Be on the lookout for new things on the horizon and thank you for your participation.

This is a really interesting plot drop! For characters coming into the rp, can they still be infected or like can they come into play as infected?

Absolutely! The plot drop will last for a week, so incoming characters can still have a chance to take part!

As long as your activity is consistent on your other character, there isn’t a waiting period. It’s at the admins discretion.

plot drop one: the curse of the blue flower

                                                      ring around the rosie

A flower blooms from a crack in the side walk on Bourbon street. It’s small, blue, barely noticed unless one is searching for it. It’s roots, despite it’s size, stretch deep into the soil and drink from the magic buried there. As it does, it’s pitil grows wider before it releases a small spray of vapor into the air. A vampire walks past as it does, the gaseous substance clinging to his clothes. 

Vampires aren’t meant to fall ill, but it doesn’t take long for the fever to set in. Soon, he begins hallucinating his long dead wife, speaking to her as if she were there. His maker attempts to cure him, going to the Treme witches, who do what they can but it’s not enough. The vampire’s hallucinations grow and he attempts to kill his maker and the witches as they try and save him. He degrades into madness, speaking to himself and attacking anyone who comes near him. His maker puts him out of his misery. After his death, the witches realize that he had been cursed. By whom, they did not know. But it’s power was undeniable.

The same illness begins to affect others, slowly and silently. The supernatural community becomes momentarily upended as they hallucinate and the magic of the flower’s curse takes hold.

OOC Notes:

It is completely up to you on whether or not your character is sick. Some supernatural residents of New Orleans are coming down with a fever. Fae, vampire, selkie, it doesn’t matter what you are. Anyone can be affected by the virus-like curse.

For the infected:

Infected characters will develop a fever. Gradually, they will begin to hallucinate. What that character hallucinates is completely up to you, but they are vivid enough for your character to believe they are real. 

The infection last seven days, slowly getting worse and worse until it runs it’s course.

Unlike the original infected vampire, your character will not die. But the curse is very, very unpleasant.

The virus is transferred by skin contact.

Magic cannot cure the virus, but some techniques can be used to alleviate symptoms a bit. Those the symptoms can still be a bit strong.

For non -infected:

If you wish to stay uninfected, stay far away from anyone who is. One touch can transfer the curse.

Humans are not infected with this curse. That includes human Hunters. Witches can be infected.

Magic cannot save you from being infected.

You can interact with whomever you like. The main will be posting inspo prompts over the next 7 days. The purpose of this plot drop is to establish the strange magic beneath New Orleans and challenge your character’s darker demons.

Mariana Vargas (Adria Arjona) is looking for her Fae adoptive mother, Siofra.

Additional Details:

After Mariana’s family was attacked, she and her brother were left alone with no other family to speak of. Mariana was 12 at the time, her brother younger. Covens were reluctant to take in the children, despite being witches, because of their parents’ dealing in dark magic and black art objects. Siofra took pity on them and adopted them, legally atleast, moving them down to New Orleans.

Her reasons for adopting them and how active she was in the parenting side of taking them in is entirely up to you. Mari was old enough to take care of her brother and he ultimately left home to find his parents who he believed weren’t dead (likely around 14). If you’d like to change her name that’s alright as well, but she would likely be in the Seelie court as they are more accepting of other species.
