So, it's pretty much a standard in the fandom that Lo'ak is described to be an exact copy of his dad, while Neteyam is the exact copy of his mum, right?

It's arguabel on the looks. I just think they share traits of both their parents, but that's also not what this post is about.

I want to speak on the character traits the boys share with their parents.

Lo'ak is always made out to be a mini Jake. He's reckles just like his dad when he was young. He doesn't listen, has a big mouth, just like Jake. Yes.

But.

He shares one crucial trait with his mother. One that makes a big part of his character.

Neytiri and Lo'ak are both easily provoked. They are short tempered and impulsive, when it comes to their family and loved ones.

Example: Lo'ak picking a fight with Aonung, after he insulted Kiri. Just like Neytiri snapped at Ronal after she disrespected Jake. Neither of them thinking about possible consequences.

They both act without thinking, just jumping to defend their loved ones. In hindsight both realize their actions haven't been so wise, but in that moment of anger they act on their feelings.

And then there is Jake and Neteyam. Both of them are able to stay level headed when faced with stressful situations.

While Jake used to be reckless in his youth, he was never as short tempered as Neytiri. It takes much to make him snap. That's why he is such a good leader. He is able to keep a cool head under pressure, he is able to think straight when angered. He also functions as Neytiri's tether in heated situations, making her calm and refocus.

Neteyam shares this trait with him. He's in full control about his actions. He's willing to let go of the anger he clearly felt when Aonung insulted Kiri, bc he knew of the consequences a fight would take.

You could argue here that that's because he's the oldest. True, but his and Lo'ak's age only differ by a year and older siblings are not always this level headed. The goal is to protect the young ones, many don't think ahead of that.

But Neteyam does, becaus just like his father he thinks in a strategic way.

Example: Neteyam warning Aonung to stay away from Kiri, but not acting on his anger and picking a fight, to prevent future difficulties for his family. Jake, apologozing on Neytiri's behalf after Ronal disrespected him. He let's the attack on his own person slide, taking the hit to give his family a chance with the Metkayina clan.

They are thinking things through, before they act.

I'm not at all saying that the boys share traits with only one of their parents. It's just that these two characteristics stand out a lot, mirroring their parents strongly.

I don’t know if that makes sense to anyone else, but I think you can see so much of their personality in their stripes. Lo‘aks stripes look wild and the lines are shaky and uneven, while Neteyams looks clean and symmetrical. It’s kinda cute 🥹

Ok so we all know that, in the movie, Miles had a special sort of stare that would make people back down when he wanted to go through with something, like with the “Let’s hunt” scene, so let’s take it a step further.

I like to think that colonel has his special death stare that he uses to win arguments or intimidate people into doing his bidding, and then even uses it on Spider when they argue. It works first couple times but then Spider learns to mirror it, and with down-turned brows like his it becomes quite easy.

So now the kid uses it as a defence mechanism. When he feels threatened he’d use the stare to make whoever threatens him to back down or to intimidate humans into letting him go places he might not be allowed in. Basically using it to his benefit to survive amongst humans.

And then, weeks after the Sea Dragon incident, he argues with Jake.

Jake grabs his arm.

Spider instinctively looks him in the eye.

And a shiver runs down Sully’s back…

…like he’s seen this gaze before.

They collectively share one brain cell and that one, single, precious brain cell is safe with Kiri.

𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨 𝐘/𝐍. She said with a giggle. 𝐇𝐞𝐲. You smiled with a lovesick expression. 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐘/𝐍 𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐠𝐨! Lo’ak walked away and you all quickly followed.

After a long walk and lots of goofing off you guys arrived at your spot to hang out. You guys sat around for a while and talked then Kiri stood up. 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠? Lo’ak asked in a questioning tone. 𝐈𝐦 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞, 𝐈'𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞. Spider was quick to stand up to offer but Kiri quickly shut him down. 𝐘/𝐍 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞. You smiled and stood up and began to follow her.

She found a field and sat down and played with the grass. You just stood there and admired her. Her connection to Ewya was beautiful she was beautiful. You'd never seen anything like it.𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐭. She placed her hand on the ground next to her showing you were to sit. You walked over and sat down and just stared at her she was the prettiest girl you’ve ever seen. She began giggling. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭? You laid on her chest while hugging her waist and her arm wrapped around you. You drifted off to sleep in the arms of your love.

You woke up to the sound of someone gagging. You looked around and saw Lo’ak raising an eyebrow at you. You felt Kiri move and sit up. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐨 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤. Lo’ak teased. You rolled your eyes and stood up with Kiri and walk towards them. You all walked home and all you could think about was what happened. Kiri likes you back.

Kiri sully x fem!reader

You get your girlfriend kiri a cool rock to add to her collection but get hurt along the way.

You were walking through the forest with Lo’ak trying to find a small stream to get some cool rocks for your girlfriend's rock collection. After a long exhausting walk you finally found a small stream and started searching. After searching for what felt like hours Lo'ak found one.

𝐘𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞? He showed you a beautiful blue rock.

You let out a sigh of relief, happy that you were done searching. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭!

You reached out to grab it but Lo’ak quickly pulled back with a smug face. 𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐢 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮? He giggled

You just shake your head in annyonce and splash him in response he laughed before splashing back.

That quickly led to a splash battle that turned into wrestling.

While wrestling you accidentally scratched your arm on a sharp rock.

𝐎𝐰! 𝐋𝐨’𝐚𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐤𝐱𝐚𝐰𝐧𝐠! Your arm was bleeding pretty heavily.

He looked at your arm and visibly shivered 𝐎𝐡 𝐄𝐰𝐲𝐚. 𝐊𝐢𝐫𝐢 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝!

After a long walk back you finally arrived home you and Lo’ak decided to head to the Tsahìk hut to give your gift to Kiri.

You walked in but before you could even show her your gift she noticed your arm.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝? 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐨𝐤𝐚𝐲? She checked your body for any more injures.

Before you could respond she asked Lo’ak what happened.

𝐈 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭. He stumbled over his words trying to explain what happened.

𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝. 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐤𝐱𝐚𝐰𝐧𝐠.He quickly left leaving Kiri to properly bandage up your arm.

He didn’t mean to do that, you know.

𝐈 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐢 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐟𝐟. She smiled.

You giggled and looked at her face as she concentrated.

𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞. She turned away to clean up her supplies.

𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 you pulled the rock you had collected out of your pouch and showed it to her.

She turned around and gasped looking at the beautiful rock.

𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. You smiled.

𝐈 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥. She smiled.

You always thought she had the prettiest smile.

𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐡, 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬. You said still smiling.

She looked at you and giggled. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐚’𝐲/𝐧 and kissed your cheek.

WHEW this is scary this is my very first imagine thing i guess? i tried my best I’m not very skilled in writing but i have alot of ideas! I finally got the courage to post this as i have had it in my drafts forever. I would love feedback but please don’t be rude about it again this is my first time! I really enjoyed writing this so if you want more lmk. Also sorry if there is any spelling/grammar mistakes. Like I said i’m attempting to put out more kiri stuff because there is hardly any!
