How about some fluffy Uncle Mako and Uncle Wu dialogue. Very rough, incomplete, I don't even know when it's going to happen but here ya go:

“Opal said no more plush animals.” Mako kept his eyes on the road as he made the turn onto Bolin’s street.

“I never agreed to that,” Wu said petulantly. “The zoo gift shop has so many! There’s no way I’m going to say no to Ruby's sweet little face if she sees one she wants.”

“Opal says they’re cluttering up the apartment,” Mako said dryly.

“Then I’ll just get her a little one!”

“Wu…” Mako shook his head. “You spoil her.”

“I’m allowed. I don’t get to see her as often!” Wu sighed dramatically. 

“Fine. But if Opal freaks out, I’m not taking the fall for you.”

“Mako! I thought you loved me.”

“I don’t love you enough to face Opal,” Mako said with a straight face. Wu just giggled in response.

“Okay, okay. I see how it is. So much for my big, tough guy. Shaking in his boots at the thought of a scolding from sweet Opal.”

“Opal Beifong,” Mako said emphatically. “I’ve learned by now to stay on the Beifongs’ good side.”

I don't believe that Mako is a cheater, in the series he was fairly young and very stupid for doing what he did. With the years and seeing all the pain he caused to his ex partners he wouldn't do it again.

Wuko are very secure in their relationship BUT I totally see Mako being constantly hitted on and not even realize? When he does, he gets hella upset because what if Wu thinks he might? Other people think he would? (My poor kiddo still beats himself up)

Yeah I sometimes feel bad for even calling what he did 'cheating'. I think he was emotionally unfaithful to Asami, because he clearly had feelings for Korra and was basically confessing those feelings to her before he bothered to end things with Asami. But Korra was the one who kissed him and he was just caught off guard by it. The next time it happened it was just a super weird situation that anyone might have done what he did. Amnesia trope my beloved you're always good for stirring up drama.

I definitely don't think he'd do anything like that again.

Yeah I really like Mako freaking out at the idea that Wu might think he was cheating, because he wouldn't blame him for thinking that. Wu knows his whole messy history. I did have a scene like that in my fic.

Mako thinking that Wu is cheating has a lot of possibilities 😈 but yeah since Wu is such a friendly touchy guy and Mako is the kind of person to go into a spiral but itd be mostly because he hardly sees Wu so his mind would go wild once he sees Wu giving some other guy attention but then Wu calls Mako his big tough guy and he knows wu is his. I read this one fic where wu had a half brother and but he didnt tell anyone that was his brother so mako jumped to conclusions and thought wu had feelings for that guy but wu was already in lovw with mako and yeah angst..

Man I know angst is fun but even misunderstandings are so hard for me to imagine lol I always hc that they talk to each other really well.

I do feel like Mako can get in his own head about things and when he's got feelings he doesn't always act rationally (see: reunion car chase) so yeah he might jump to some conclusions. I think he wouldn't get like possessive or jealous or whatever though. I think he would be like. Self depreciating about it. Like yeah, that tracks, I deserve this, I cheated on my exes now I'm getting cheated on, he's royalty he could always do better than me etc etc.

yeah i think mako would hate himself for 1000 years if he did something as dumb as cheating on wu. (someone who is so insanely compatible with him it will be impossible to find someone like him.)

wu would probs not even want to say what mako did so they wouldn't think badly of mako and then after korra and asami push a bit the floodgates would open and he'd break down explaining what happaned then they would proceed to kick makos ass (emotionally) or maybe some violence idk if wu would ever take him back tho? asami took mako back after he kinda cheated on her with korra so idk if he has forgiveness in his heart. this is so angst and yeah i also think its ooc for mako since he wouldnt intentionally hurt wu like that but its kinda fun to think of characters i love in pain 💔❤️‍🩹

It'll be the next harmonic convergence before Mako stops hating himself if he cheats on Wu.

I actually think Wu would take him back. I mean, he shouldn't, but he would. I hc the Wu really sees the best in Mako so even if he really, truly hurt Wu I think Wu would forgive him and tell himself that it was just a one time thing, lapse in judgement... If we're being really angsty maybe Wu blames himself for Mako straying idk. NOT THAT HE SHOULD. just like. I could see that happening. At least in this bizzaro world where Mako would actually do that

This is like the unrequited love ask I got recently. I can't even picture it my headcanons are too firmly affixed in my brain I can't imagine Mako actually cheating he's too good to Wu!!!

I mean. What would happen if Mako cheated on Wu??? I don't know they would break up and it would be horrible and sad!!! Korrasami would kick Mako's ass!!! Wu would get all their friends in the divorce.

Mako thinking Wu cheated on him is an interesting scenario... Like. I actually do hc that Mako is more insecure in their relationship than Wu is... If they have a long distance relationship I guess it's possible Mako would get paranoid if he saw Wu being too friendly with someone idk.

I think the only way I can see either of these scenarios making sense is if we lean into the idea that Mako might self-sabotage because he doesn't actually think he deserves love.

inquiring minds want to know. what activities and fun things do you think wu and mako get up to? what has wu talked mako into that at first he was reluctant about but ended up really enjoying or vice versa? like does wu get really into pro-bending and mako finds he enjoys theater (bolin must never find out). i just enjoy the idea of them discovering things together and having fun. mako is not the stick in the mud large parts of fandom think he is.

As a part of Mako's journey to appreciate things in life for their beauty and not just their utilitarian value, I think it would be really neat if Wu managed to drag take Mako to an art gallery, and for Mako to be like. Moved to tears by the artwork. And from then on Mako is the art aficionado between them. He gets really into the art scene and maybe even dabbles in some artistic expression of his own. They go to gallery openings all the time. Wu himself is not quite as 'into' the art as Mako is but he's 100% there to support it. Like I'm picturing them standing in front of a painting that evokes an intense emotional response from Mako, and Mako is just staring at it in wonder, while Wu is staring at Mako with heart eyes at the emotion on his face.

idk if this has been brought up but i feel like itd be a surpirse to people to find out mako bottoms because they see how wu the twink just likes to be taken care of, and he can be pretty lazy in some instances ( like walking ) so maybe they just infer that Wu is a pillow princess and Mako is ok with that but if they ever reveal anything about their sex life to their friends i think theyd be a bit surpirsed but bolin would be like i did not need to know my brother takes it up the ass

You know I'm all here for bottom Mako hcs. I don't think either of them actually talk about their sex life to their friends except for this one hc I came up with when we were talking about this in my discord group lol:

I hc that mako doesn't really know how to drink. He never drank because he was way too paranoid about being too impared to protect bolin. like if there was ever a setting he was expected to drink it would have been like. a sip here and there but he wouldn't have gotten encough to even get a buzz going.

So his first time really drinking (maybe some kind of Team Avatar triple date or small party just with people they all know well?) he kinda accidentally goes overboard because he has no tolerance and he doesn't really know how to drink without overdoing it (like, drinking on an empty stomach, maybe he's drinking a mixed drink that's deceptively tasty and drinks too many too quickly, that kind of thing.) and he gets real wasted real quick.

Then, and only then, he might accidentally drunkenly blurt out details of their sex life. Picture this: He kisses Wu then leans up on him and goes to whisper in his ear all the things he wants Wu to do to him, but he's drunk and has no control over his volume and the whole room hears.

Korra and asami are like. hmmmmm Interesting. Bolin's like I DID NOT NEED TO HEAR THAT.

Nothing that Mako would canonically in character do.

He'd never push Wu to try something he wasn't interested in or ready for, so I think bedroom-wise that would never be an issue.

I guess if Mako cheated on Wu but c'mon Mako learned his lesson he wouldn't do that.

but emotionally i think mako is really relieved to have someone he can genuinely reveal himself to. (which is why i personally give him weird kinks but this isnt about that) i think he doesnt even realize the level of guard he had up in his previous relationships. Okay yes lets talk about it like this. How do you feel about Wu with Vitilago? I would love to draw him like that but I'm lazy so ill get to it one day... I think vitiligo is beautiful and I know It's something people struggle with, so I wonder how someone who is focused on their looks a lot like Wu would handle that i think mako would hype him up though and make him feel like the pretty prince /king he is

I'm having emotions thinking about this.

Wu I think would struggle with it the first time he notices it? I'm not sure if he would go to any lengths to hide it. I think when Mako notices it he's probably SO pragmatic and unfazed by it. and then if he realizes Wu is insecure about it he'll do his best to make him feel better.

I'm not sure how much knowlege there would be on the condition in the world of avatar but I think mr acts-of-service Mako would go to the library and try to learn more about it to figure out how to help Wu feel better.

But obviously where ever his skin is losing it's pigment Mako would make sure to give it extra love just like Wu gives his scars extra love
