It’s so perfect how Max and Chloe are such a big part of each other.

Chloe gives Max confidence. She makes her feel like she knows what she’s doing, and that newfound self-assurance makes her do incredible things. She uncovered the secrets of Arcadia Bay and discovered an inner strength she didn’t think she had. In one week with Chloe, she became someone new. Someone ready to face the world as it is.

Max gives Chloe a reason to still be in Arcadia Bay. Even after all Chloe has gone through in the town, Max makes her feel like her presence has a purpose. They reunited in the parking lot. Max revealed her powers by the lighthouse they used to play in. They searched for Rachel in the dark halls of a school they both attended, and it all led up to them spending a moment in the pool being best friends again.

They both give each other a purpose. Chloe gives Max a reason to believe in herself, and Max gives Chloe a purpose again after she spent so long feeling out of place in the bay. They’re both a piece of each other’s puzzle. Which is what makes their dynamic so great.
