If you haven’t already go check out @kelis interview with Hollywood Unlocked! I have ALWAYS loved Kelis, I even named my car after her lol.. but she speaks from her own real life situation and what she went through. Thank you so much for sharing your life, your faith, and your words of wisdom! I definitely took notes! ✍🏾❤️✝️ (at Dallas, Texas)

So I’m sitting outside enjoying the breeze because today is AWESOME! Here comes my 8 year old “okay just tell me what’s wrong, let’s talk about it”.. I reply with, “I’m fine Brailyn I’m just enjoying some fresh air!” Despite that I have a had a very eventful past two weeks which he is very aware of. Usually when someone asks “how are you?” a lot of us lie and pretend we’re fine. I’m glad today I was able to honestly tell my son, I’m fine. Because I am. I’m glad to know no matter what it looks like, no matter what it feels, like no matter the trials, I’ll be fine! 💜 #JoyComesInTheMorning #HappyResurrectionDay 🙌🏾✝️🙏🏾 (at Balch Springs, Texas)

Overly pleased with this mixture! Today I combined these products to make a face scrub— I’ve seen this combination before, & decided to give it a chance. This Citrus Brown Sugar Scrub exfoliated my skin & left my face feeling fresh, soft, & free. I left it on for 45 minutes then rinsed with warm water! TRY IT! Oh yeah, & lemon juice helps with dark spots! I definitely will add this to my weekly routine! #BlackGirlMagic✨ #DallasBlogger #NaturalProducts #GlowUp 👸🏾❤️🔑 (at Dallas, Texas)

I remember when I was younger, Kindergarten to be exact, our class had this MEANNNNN substitute teacher one day. (Whom just so happened to be black) So Ms. Thing said to me, “why did your parents let you come to school with your head looking like that!?” Those of you who know me from day one know that I USE to have the prettiest, curliest, natural hair. To everyone except me, of course. I don’t really remember how I felt exactly. But I know it bothered me, I remember being ashamed. Of my hair. Of myself. I remember how my hair looked that day…it was just natural. Not straight, not packed down by grease, not in a lot of pony tails. My hair was just free. But to my substitute teacher my hair looked a hot mess! A lot of adults use to say I had “good hair”! A lot of the kids at school made fun of me! I never liked it! It use to be all tangled, nappy, & hard to tame! Ugggh I hated when Keilea had to do my hair! She use to make me cry! And always had to use this detangling spray! I BEGGGGGEDDDD my grandmother for years to allow me to get a perm, so I could be like everyone else. So I could fit in. So I could have straight hair. I was tired of being the nappy headed girl at school. I remember when Naomi gave me my first perm! I was 12 years old, in the 6th grade! When I came back to school on Monday, you couldn’t tell me nothing! I finally had the hair I always wanted, I finally “fit in” with all the other girls! Now fast forward to today almost every black woman you see has natural hair! Which is great!!! We should embrace our kinky & curly hair! I can honestly say pretty much every day I get compliments on my natural hair, that I was once ashamed of! We should never tear each other down! We should never make someone feel ugly because they are different! What makes us stick out is what make us, us! As Pink said tonight on the VMAs, “We don’t change! We help other people change so that they can see other kinds of beauty!” Thank you for reading! ❤️🔑➰
