(The sign says "entrance" if I translated it right (most likely didn't))
I've been wanting to do a piece like this for MONTHS and I finally sucked it up and did it. I have no idea why this ate up at me for so long seeing how niche it is. I've never been a sucker for perspective/environmental pieces (especially in fanart) but the leaked tangled bible just... inspired me... idk... I just wanted to draw a northern Asian environment in my tangled style.
These colors were suprising different. At first I wanted it to be pure night with Ulla holding a light but it was too dark so I made it a sunset (rise???) the hardest this was definitely the perspective. I'm not good with it and you would think the vocal point being a box would help BUT IT DID NOT!!
The long lost Gravity Falls "Next Time On," reel has FINALLY been found!
This right here is what made this show happen and the reason why every new Disney cartoon also has a next time on reel. GF's last big lost media hunt is over!
Alex Hirsch said that he was okay if this ever was to leak. So, if this goes down, blame Disney!!
In this link, there is a comment from Ben Baliserti about how they weren't considering making the moonstone change Cassandra's hair to blue until Brigette Barrager suggested it. I find this slightly amusing since you'd think that would've been the first thing they thought of, with Rapunzels hair blonde from the sundrop and all.
And in this link, there's early concept art where Cass' hair seems to be floating above her head. (Second image, first Cass). It said the floating hair concept art was from around 2015, and the blue hair concepts were from 2017, and I am pretty sure that I saw the floating hair design in an old sketch where Ariana went to the Dark Kingdom. So, putting two and two together, there was some point early in development where mooncass' hair was magical and floaty, yet still its natural black?! Sorry, I just have a hard time believing that it took them 2 years to come up with the idea of a blue haired mooncass, yet a floaty haired mooncass was the first thing they came up with?

Picture you're referencing by Shiyoon Kim:
(In which her hair is not floating.)
If you'd like to hear the rumor I heard from crew, Cassandra's blue hair was actually influenced by the first person to suggest Moon Varian, and gave him blue hair. Yes, Moon Varian predates Moon Cassandra's reveal. And while Chris claimed to not go on Tumblr, we all know he did (he has an account still, as far as I know, though I don't think he's been on the site in years), but for legal reasons, he had to say he didn't so that the fans couldn't sue him or anything.
When you look at all the developmental art that Brigette shared with us, yes there's a time that she toyed with floating hair, but she also toyed with emo hair in Cassandra's face, rather than the curls she ended up having. They were going for "villain look". It doesn't surprise me at all that they thought to have the power of the moonstone making her hair float. But Shiyoon Kim wasn't a part of that look. The way he imagined Cassandra was completely different from how she turned out.
But yeah, I'm pretty sure that the blue hair came from the very first Moon Varian fanart, which was conceived of during season 1, which coincides with when Brigette started trying looks with blue hair. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Chris saw that fanart, then took the idea to Brigette and presented it as his own idea. He's genuinely not the most creative guy and doesn't like sharing credit. Ben said Brigette suggested it first, so I can't say what's true and what's not. Maybe she saw the fanart, I don't know.
