You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

dunno if this was already done or not, but I got inspired by other people redesigning Sun and Moon as glamrock animatronics, so I decided to try and redesign them as Nightmare Animatronics

I'll probably tinker with his design later, I'm pretty happy with it rn but I dunno if he's creepy enough to be considered Nightmare animatronic material.

I only got Moon's design at the moment because: 1 He was the obvious first choice, and 2 ✨He's my favorite✨

I was really really excited when I saw it had new chapters, I had last read it back in 2022 and it was so nice to see it update!!! I absolutely love the way you characterize sun and moon, and I love the way you write working with kids :) it also makes me feel just so incredibly happy to see a self insert story with a transmasc they/them perspective, ive never seen that before and it made me feel really seen :) your writing also always just blows me away with how well you write dialogue and portraying character's emotions with nuance and detail, and aaaaah!!!!! Thank you so much! It means a lot to hear that you've been around since the fics inception (me realizing the flow of time never stops- wow) and that you've continued to enjoy reading it! Sun and Moon are quite interesting characters with a lot of nuance from fic to fic and canon piece to canon piece, and throwing my own hat in the ring felt appropriate.

I myself am transmasc and use they/them pronouns and wanted to create a niche that is rare in self-inserts. As much as gn stuff is somewhat common, I don't ever remember seeing anyone really try to lean into a masc presentation for the MC. A reference to binding in any fic is rarer still, and the logistics of it in relation to how it feels/affects bodily responses, and felt that I wanted to include it just cause. To hear that you feel seen makes me 🥺😭

If there's anything I want, it's a realistic situation played out in a satisfying way. Fanfic is great because it's basically made for dramatization and fantasy, but slice of life is my bread and butter. Give me those practical problems and hash it out fun style.
