I apologize for the lack of any sort of communication and updates. I just started my rotation in a hospital. It's been quite fun. I hope this fun continues until the end. Everyone has been lovely, and although there are differences with some people I work with, I think they are still lovely to talk to.

I'm new to your blog but I love it! It's already given me a more optimistic outlook on college life lol.

The writing letters format is really intriguing. I wanted to ask who Tommy is? Are there letters back and forth or more like a diary?

It's more like a diary. Tommy was originally an alias to a close friend of mine that I used to tell stories to. That friend was like my diary. We don't often talk, but when we do, we try to tell as many stories as possible. I used to have very bad social anxiety, so I didn't talk to people that much since it's kind of uncomfortable to me, but now, Tommy is just anyone who can I comfortably communicate with. So now, Tommy is just anyone who can read my post.

Dear Tommy,

Long time no see! Nothing extraordinary happened lately. That's maybe why I haven't posted anything in a while. I'm loving boringness and dullness of life. We go out to eat from time to time. My friends and I have been busy studying, so we don't go out often. Who am I kidding? Even if we had extra time, we'd just all hang out in our own home. Anyways, that's it, and I'm still looking for a hospital to do my internship. I hope I get into the hospital that I want.

January 28, 2024 - "Clear skies"

Dear Tommy,

I guess it's been a while. It's also been a while since I took these photos. A few weeks ago my friends and I went somewhere out of town. We didn't really planned that day and just went somewhere our car will take us, we happen to find ourselves in a camping site/restaurant and since we're unprepared we didn't even have a picnic mat after that we went to a famous cafe in that same town, The view there is also stunning, but the campsite gives a more relaxing vibe. We'll just have to make sure that next time, we bring things that we need.

Nothing much today, just went out to run some errands. I really didn't plan my day just like the past week, I'm giving myself a little breather since it Christmas season. I was really planning to watch somethings, but my sister basically forced me to get out. It was fun though.

December 25, 2023 - Merry Christmas!

Dear Tommy,

How did you celebrate your Christmas? For me, it's just the usual small family gathering in my parents' house. Unfortunately, my brother and his family didn't celebrate Christmas with us, but still, it was fun. He also visited us later in the day. Therefore, I wasn't that down. Later that day we went outside to eat dinner, we went by to a restaurant in a nearby town that has a stunning overlooking view. I visited this place before, and I was already aware that it would have a beautiful view of the city, but I never visited the place at night. The night lights gave the place a different feel. Anyways, the food was good, but we waited around an hour and a half before the food got served. Nevertheless, due to that long waiting time, I was able to talk a lot with my family.

"Happy times before getting tied up with school"

Dear Tommy,

In my opinion, there are two things that you will inevitably face in the Philippines, you won't be able to escape from it. First is traffic, and the second is the company of great people along with a relaxing view of nature. We had an animal handling activity a few weeks ago. Then I met up with my friends to eat, we had always planned things together but most of it gets canceled last minute, but this time, without a plan we just spontaneously went somewhere. Why are those things that don't have any preparation more likely to happen than those meticulously planned ones? Anyways, it was nice, we drove very far from the city then ate good food, and yes, I wasn't able to take a picture of the food because we munched on it as soon as the waiter put the foods in front of our face.

"National Museum"

Dear Tommy,

It's been a while, I have been busy with school, and now that school is officially over, I can basically do whatever I want. My sisters and I went to the National Museum last week. It was her school homework to go on museums and take pictures. The experience was very nice, I found a lot of the art interesting, it would be nice if my nephew could come with us, he really likes this kinds of things, but overall, Museums are nice, it's quiet, organized and peaceful. You can stare at things hanging on the wall for hours and no one will care.

"Two month review of using this flip phone"

For context, I’ve been using this japanese flip phone from kyocera. The specific model of this unit is the Kyocera 701KC. This phone was released in late 2017 and is therefore showing its age. As a device for digital minimalism or just for reducing social media time, I think this device fits perfectly for me. I said, “for me” because the usage depends very much on what an individual is willing to compromise. In my opinion the biggest drawback of using this device is it’s software, it’s running android 5 which is very old and most of the banking app that I use is not supported, more and more apps will also be not supported anymore in the near future, this device also don’t have support for google services, you have to sideload the apps you want to use, but if you can look past that, this may work for you. Another problem that I often run into is its wifi connection. When the device is closed or on stand-by for quite a while the wifi suddenly disconnects so when you unlock the phone it will take around 30 seconds to 1 minute to connect to the wifi. 

For its advantages, it really reduced my time on social media. It’s slow, but it taught me to be a little more patient and calmer. I had more time doing things that matter, such as reading or just being in the moment. Another benefit is that this phone is strong! It’s durable. If you’re clumsy like me, things will keep falling out of your hand, and sometimes things jump out of your pocket when moving around. This guy can take hits. One time, it fell off the stairs. I thought it would be shattered, but to my surprise, all it had was a small chip of paint removed. So, would I recommend buying this? Depending on the price and inconvenience you’re willing to pay. As I said earlier if you want to use this there will be some compromises, and even if you’re willing to pay the cost I recommend newer devices such as the Kyocera Digno 901KC or the Unihertz Jelly series, this has better software and is much more likely to be usable for a longer period of time.

November 20, 2023 - "Good foods"

Dear Tommy,

Not a lot has happened lately. My days were usually spent studying roaming around the city, both of which are fun. It was also the birthday of my niece a few days ago. There we're a lot of foods, good foods. Anyway, I was also kind of been busy for a while. The internship is starting again soon, and I'm feeling mixed emotions, I don't know what it is that I'm feeling, but I can't quite describe it.
