If they were playing by Fengshen Yanyi rules, Nüwa and Fuxi absolutely could've done something about all of the death in Penglai because the whole reason her lesbians went after Zhou was because she promised them IMMORTALITY. Of course she didn't do it and she ended up betraying them because she was like "Oh, y'all are unironically sociopaths? I thought it was a joke 😕," but she could've if she wanted to💀.

i still don't understand how Asura's rule works

They didn't use the exact word for it, so it's easier to just describe it. You know how a lizard can drop it's tail as a defense mechanism? It's like that, but instead of a tail it's another person or identity. The only time we saw it in use was when MC severed F-Kare Jorm from Housamo Jorm since they're considered seperate guys, but we also know he cut off a part of himself to create Varuna. It's probably not an exact copy of the original, but a certain aspect of them. FKare Jorm would be more associated with what happened in that game rather than Housamo's lore like Housamo Jorm. Or how Varuna doesn't seem to share Asura's anger and is more prone to letting things go.

I'd say it's something like to cut of an identity, but I'm not sure.

-I've been reading the Samurai of Hyuga recently since COG users always rave about it and it's okay. Probably won't like it if you're not into cringe weeb shit or the crazy ex. The relationship with the Ex, and by extension the Young Ward you're tasked with protecting, actually happens to be the most interesting part of the series though with it's discussion of innocence.

I'm sure there's others that I'm just forgetting because I consume too much media and have the attention span of a goldfish.

What other games do you play?

Mostly vns, ifs, or mobile games. I can't play most games because I get really bad simulator sickness, so I prefer reading them. Games that involve constant camera rotation disorient me and make me feel nauseous :/

I used to play a lot of furry vns, but I only keep up with Burrows vn since I lost interest in the others. Andromeda Six, Obscura, Infinite Stars, and Lust Odyssey are some fun vns though.

I'll be so real with y'all, I'm a freak, so I'll be playing yangames. Not because I think it's hot or endearing, but because I think they're funny little individuals. It's the same way I'm into Fuxi, but I don't want to particularly shag him. "Obsessed freak" is just a really funny trope.

Oh M*Chat. I play M*Chat sometimes. The ads are cringe, but it's fun to read through most of the time. The quality of the stories just vary because they use different writers. I will say that you should download an unlimited gem mod because it does that shit that Episodes or Choices does were it's like "you can play for free" and then all the free options are absolutely horrid. There's literally one story where all the free options just have the MC be mean to and sexually harrass a guy who is clearly uncomfortable. Like no thanks lol. I liked the Tamura Blood (Gangster x Customer Service!MC) and Bethany Richardson (Queen B/Cheerleader x Geek/Normie!MC) stories tho. Oh, and there's one story with Monsterfucker!MC x Monster which is just ??? Based. Just a MC with a size kink and a monster fetish living out their fantasy of getting dicked down by a huge monster with two dicks. Good for them.

IFs (interactive fiction) are good too. They're just visual novels without the visuals or CYOA books, so it's mostly just reading. So many interesting concepts tho.

Is the story worth reading? The most I've heard about it was the translation wasn't that good and there was a lot of fetish stuff going on, but that was a while ago. I'll check it out if the story is good though.

The funniest thing about Amaterasu's voicelines was that they called her when MC apparently got into trouble. She's not even their guardian. They shouldn't be calling her. Plus she's also a student, so it's not even like she'd automatically get guardianship over them in situations that Mr. Mononobe isn't around. They'd get put with another adult. She'd have to go out of her way to do this to even be in this situation.

Amaterasu, by her own volition, had to put herself down as a guardian or emergency contact for MC lol. Jorm's SQ was right. She really does just obsess over MC and worry about what they're getting into.

Yoritomo saying that Yoshitsune was taken by onis and raised by onis... Was he taken? I know that Tokiwa fled with Yoshitsune and her two other sons after the Heiji Rebellion and later her new partner had Yoshitsune sent to live at a shrine, but taken?

It is believed the shrine and the monks there were of the Heike clan while Yoshitsune was from the Genji clan, so maybe they're talking about that. At least in the Kurama-tengu noh, it's said that the monks often neglected him and the other children were mean to him due to his clan's status after the Heiji Rebellion, so he probably didn't like it there as much.

Yeah, I'm definitely feeling that it has to be something like this. It's not like Susanoo was a remorseless monster. Tsukuyomi said he cared about people, probably more than anyone else, but it was just in a way that went unnoticed by most. So he probably did feel bad about hurting his sister.

The Amano-Iwato thing was the first time she shut herself away after his shenanigans, so he probably realized he went too far that time and left. But not before giving Amaterasu Kusanagi as an apology since she has it now.

🙇 In a nutshell, Hourai/Penglai is all about the bigger picture and letting nature run it's course.

Existence is a long, never-ending road and everything that seems like a big deal now will just be a blip in eternity in the grand scheme of things, so why worry? Everything in Penglai will always return to it's natural state when it's all over anyways, so why stress over it? It's better for them to just take whatever life throws at them and let nature run it's course instead of wasting their time fighting the inevitable.

There's nothing about Penglai that makes it more prone to war and disaster. It's just more prevalent because they do nothing to prevent or stop it. There's nothing they can do anyways. Everyone and everything they could do is too small and inconsequential in the grand scheme of things and won't matter it the end. And in the same way, it didn't matter if someone like Nüwa or Hakumen wanted to add more fuel to the fire because their actions really didn't matter in comparison. The best they could do was wave the Aurora through the sky as a warning for devastation zones and let people do what they wanted to with that information. Even when Nüwa and Shennong found a way to properly utilize the Aurora, their actions were also too small to make an impact in the bigger picture.

Fuxi on the other hand is the biggest believer in letting nature run it's course. That's why he did nothing to save his people or bother fighting his enemies, and that's he did nothing to stop Nüwa from leaving. Because he thought everything would return to how it was supposed to be in the end. And everything did. Except for Nüwa.

I still dont understand how Hourai world works.

The Takamagahara Family potentially being a display of narcissistic parenting and the effects it has on children is interesting to me, so now you need to read my jumbled thoughts!

Susanoo is the rebellious problem child who is seen as an embarrassment by their parent, Tsukuyomi is the forgotten middle child who is often ignored by their parent and keeps their head low, and Amaterasu is the golden child who is viewed as perfect and receives all of their parent's positive attention.

Narcissistic parenting and having a favorite child often leads to fighting or competition among siblings as we've seen with Amaterasu and Susanoo. As the golden child, Amaterasu has the most pressure on her to be perfect and she's also the one who suits Izanagi's ideals the most. Amaterasu could potentially hold animosity towards Susanoo because she learned the same views as Izanagi and she also views him as an embarrassment or she could be jealous of Susanoo because he's allowed to be himself while she's forced to maintain her image. Non-golden children like Susanoo often hold negative feelings towards the golden child as well either due to being jealous that they don't receive the same attention or praise as the golden child or because the golden child is too similar to the narcissistic parent. Susanoo doesn't like Izanagi because he's a dickhead, Susanoo feels negatively towards his sister because she's like Izanagi, Amaterasu also feels negatively towards her brother because she's jealous or thinks he's a jackass, and BOOM now they're fighting. Simple.

Then there's the existence of the forgotten middle child, Tsukuyomi. Not much is expected of him like the golden child. He gets by on being average. Not perfect like his sister, but not a nuisance like his brother. He probably also takes issue with Izanagi's parenting too like most non-golden children do, but he keeps that to himself because he prefers not to rock the boat. Instead he resigns himself to quietly supporting and admiring Susanoo for rebelling against their father on the sidelines.

This all being based on the assumption that Takamagahara's fixation on appearances is based on the life and death myth and Izanagi being the true cause of it rather than Amaterasu, of course. I just like the idea of Izanagi being to cause of Amaterasu's and Susanoo's seemingly (we still have a potential Horus and Seth situation since nobody knows how they felt towards each other) rocky relationship because it's a common thing that happens to siblings raised by narcissists.

It just sounded like he got bored of causing problems for his sister or decided to call her bluff after she said that she was done with him.
