Starting off the characters with Jeff (probably changes the most in both look and story)! The backstory I am about to share mostly comes from my friend, they came up with most of this so full credit is their's!

Story: Jeff, Liu, and Ben were all friends when they were kids and were actually quite close. However, after an accident when Jeff and Ben were around 12-13 and Liu was about 6-7 Ben died in a drowning accident leaving both boys very upset, Jeff even more so. After Jeff turned 15 he was still clearly affected by what happened being a lot more closed off and moody, his family moved in hopes of lifting his spirits and 'getting their happy boy back'. This did little to help him and if anything made things worse for his mental health and worsening of anger issues.

It was at his new school he met Randy, Keith, and Troy a group that was known for causing trouble. However, instead of bullying Jeff, they invited him to join their little group as even as a teenager Jeff was pretty well built and clearly strong. Jeff began hanging out with the 3 and spent less time with his brother, as well as doing nothing when his new 'friends' would make backhanded comments about him. All throughout high school Jeff got roped into the trouble Randy, Keith, and Troy would cause, including assisting in a few minor thefts and picking on other kids at their school. He hid all of this from his parents.

At 18 he was outed to his parents and almost kicked out, leading to him cutting contact with his family as soon as he graduated. He continued to hang out with his three friends but after they began making comments about Ben's death, Jeff snapped. His anger issues and other problems had been slowly worsening over the years and hearing someone mock someone he was so close to made him snap. He murdered all three of them and ran to his brother, who he'd have very low contact with for help as he "was the only person he could think of to help". Due to paranoia, however, he believed Liu was going to report him to the cops and killed him as well, but not before being badly burned in retaliation. A few months after he also ended up murdering his parents. He struggled for years after, even after he slowly came back to his senses. Eventually, he was approached by Slenderman and was offered a position working for him in return for providing him shelter, food, water, and an outlet for his anger.

Jeff is still very much so a violent person and is known around the mansion for being a huge jerk. Very few people are safe from his insults and taunting. This leads to him getting into a lot of arguments and fights and gets him in trouble with Slender quite often. If he wasn't so good at his job, he'd probably have been disposed of a long time ago.

He also has zero sense of self-preservation and can't keep track of anything for the life of him. It's part of the reason he keeps so many knives (aside from being genuinely interested in them).

His right eye is actually fake as the original was too damaged to be kept. He usually wears a more realistic one but has a few cooler fake eyes to put in when he feels like it (sometimes to just freak out new recruits).

He does in fact feel bad for what he did to Liu but is too scared he hates him to actually talk to him about it. E.J is trying to push the two to reconcile.

Soooo- I saw this person on Deviantart make a chart showing the different jobs of proxies and where their marks would be located and decided I wanted to do the same for my AU! Wanted to post this before I started on showing my designs for the characters.

Proxy marks is a symbol ingrained on a person's skin when they make a deal to work for either Slenderman or Zalgo (these specifically being Slenderman's). It directly connects the person to said God and allows them to have more influence over them, both mentally and physically. These marks also distinguish who is responsible for what jobs. All proxies, primarily humans, have certain abilities enhanced to allow them to not only survive in Mid Realm but also get their job done effectively. However, depending on the job a person is assigned based on their personal skill set, one ability is usually slightly more enhanced than others. Now onto what each job actually is:

Hunter: A Hunter's main skill is strength. They are the main fighters and are usually sent on hit missions to either take out rivals or get rid of unwanted trespassers.

Guard: A Guard's main skill is speed. They're usually the ones surveying areas and doing security rounds of the territory. This is where Hunters and Guards kind of overlap a little in the sense they both are responsible for taking care of trespassers though a Guard might not necessarily kill on sight.

Spy: A Spy's main skill is stealth. They don't get involved in fighting unless absolutely necessary. As expected their job is to conduct spying missions to gather intel.

Shield: A Shield's main skill is resistance. They can take more hits than a normal person and can heal a little faster than normal. Like a Hunter, they are very combat-based though they are more so meant to outlast a target in a fight than beat them with brute strength/

Other/Trainee: These two might not necessarily have a single skill enhanced either because it is not needed or it is undecided where they will be the most useful.

There are three main realms to my AU: Above Realm, Mid Realm, and Under Realm.

Above Realm:

Above Realm (also referred to as 'The Human Realm') is basically the normal world where normal people live. Doubt this needs much explaination. There is little to no magic in this realm and people can mostly go about their daily lives in peace. It's very rare any creatures from the other realms bother going there. This is where most of Slenderman's workers and proxies come from.

Mid Realm:

Mid Realm/Middle Realm is Slenderman's domain. He is the god of this realm and every region reports to him. Despite this, he tends to stay in his territory leaving the other regions to be run by different people though he is still updated regularly of what is going on there. In his territory, the trees are covered in eyes which he can use as surveillance if needed. It is here that he can also sense every single entity that is inside. As long as someone doesn't overstay their welcome, he doesn't usually get involved unless the threat cannot be handled by those who work for him.

Much like the human world though, outside of his territory, there are things such as towns and cities and even a few laws that are upheld by those in control of each region. These areas are much safer than areas outside of settlements. Cities tend to be places where people from all realms can be found living together without much issue. Those who live here tend to mind their own business which leads to low tension.

There is only about 7 hours of daylight and almost always a full moon at night. This realm is the realm of magic and is absolutely full of it. It is said that all magic originates from Mid Realm.

Under Realm:

Under Realm is Zalgo's domain and the most dangerous of the 3 realms. Much like Slenderman with Mid Realm, he is the god of the realm and controls it entirely. It is also divided up into regions that he has appointed trusted allies to rule over (only a few actually being his family). He is a lot more strict about those who enter his territory and expects anyone who does to immediately be dealt with accordingly.

Similarly to Mid Realm, each region has different settlements (cities, towns, etc) though they tend to still be dangerous for visitors. People don't take too kindly to outsiders and will start fights over the smallest of things.

There is around 15 hours of daylight here and is always very, very hot. This realm is mostly compared to humans' idea of what Hell would be like.
