Boost for my new blog!

Hey everyone!

I’ve been on a bit of an RP hiatus for the past few months and I’m looking to shake off the rust a bit! I want to start writing more and to start channeling the positive creative energy I’ve been feeling lately so I decided to start reaching out again and looking for contacts, mutuals and RP inspiration.

Overall I’m looking for FFXIV related content and I would love to find new friends, contacts and content creators so my dash is full and active again!

I’m interested in art, screens, writing, aesthetic posts and honestly anything relating to your wonderful characters. As of right now my character roster includes several elezens (both Gridanian and Ishgardian), a Garlean and an Ala Mhigan! (Currently in the process of writing/updating RP profiles for all of them!)

If you’re interested and/or want a new mutual toss me a like, a follow and/or a message and I’ll follow back and/or reply to you as soon as possible!

Chrysanthe fae Sylla

Character Summary;

               Chrys is a woman of few words and even fewer compliments. She is a natural born leader who believes that both respect and praise should be earned, not given away freely. While loyal to the Garlean Empire she also believes that there is a certain strength that comes from understanding and respecting the culture of those they conscript and recruit rather than completely eliminating it. Outwardly the senator appears to be a reformist working from within to encourage more humane treatment of non-citizens and those conscripted to serve the Empire. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind, voice her opinions or stand up for what she believes in and during her time as a senator she’s built quite a favorable reputation for herself in the political community.

               Sometimes it seems there might be more to her and her work than first meets the eye. While there are many rumors floating around Chrys keeps carefully selected company, covers her tracks well and holds her cards close to her chest so it’s anyone’s guess as to if there’s any truth behind the whispers.

Lucius rem Sylla - LFRP

Character Summary:

Lucius, the pure-blooded Garlean son to a family of staunch Imperial patriots, is much what you’d expect from a career military man. In a time where many question their convictions to the empire, Lucius truly believes in the Garlean rhetoric. As a younger man, he idolized heroes of the nation such as Gaius van Baelsar and Regula van Hydrus - individuals that forged his naive, yet empathetic mission to save the dangerously ignorant city-states from their eikon reverence and show them a more harmonious way of life. Infuriatingly incorruptible, bureaucrats find him impossible to mix company with and vice versa. Outside of the tedium of government ballrooms and parades, he really comes into his element. Lucius’ reputation for fair treatment to subordinates despite their race or background has made him quite popular with both conscripts and reformists alike. In truth, he casts no illusions of egalitarianism; Lucius is simply a pragmatist. His worst enemies have never been the westerners or easterners, but rather poor morale and attrition.

No matter how tough times get in the Imperial capital, warfronts or even his own personal struggles, Lucius is an anchor of idealism; a relic of a bygone generation of soldiers who fight for what they believe in voluntarily without an ulterior motive. Sans Photoshop Screenshot Tips

Good news! I am a graphic designer and I’m here to say that you don’t need to be one in order to make your screens look great. One question I’ve received more than a few times in the past is how I white out my backgrounds. There’s a simple, less thorough but very convenient way and a complicated all-encompassing way that requires Photoshop. We’ll be focusing on the former for this post.

Step one - Pick a pose and/or expression and freeze it in gpose using the ‘1′ key on your keyboard. Remember to pull up the gpose settings by hitting ‘R’ on your keyboard so you have your tools ready and keep the settings similar to what I have below. Here’s Remy frozen for my cruel experimentation:

You’ll notice I have placed him in front of a static background that is roughly white, beige or some near-white alternative. From here, rotate around the subject until you’re facing their right lower hip looking up toward the back of their neck as follows:

[full res: here] – At this point, activate light one on its default setting. Yes - the lighting will look wonk, but hang in there. As we move to the next step, pan the camera to the subject’s left shoulder blade and look at it from above in a downward angle before turning on light number 2 as well:

[full res: here] – Finally, pan around to the front of the subject and zoom out slightly so that you get the majority of their body in frame before switching on light 3. After you hit the switch, feel free to pan in and adjust camera angles. We’re almost done!

[full res: here] – If you feel pleased with your screen, no need to complicate it further! Hit ‘R’ to toggle the control panel to disappear and snap your screenshot! I recommend panning in close for facial details or subtle body lines. Your finished subject and background should look something like this:

[full res: here] – Now if you’re like me and you’re extra af - you might go a step further. If you have reshade and some nice presets or home-configured settings put together, toggle them now and sit back! You’re done and you’ve made a great screenshot!
