Just remember that last year, my friends and I went to an anime convention, where I happen to use a Fem! Joshu-inspired outfit. It was all improvised and it is not even close to a proper cosplay, but I had fun! It felt great to dress like (alike?) one of my favorite 2D characters.
Well... if I go back this year, I will try to improve my performance.
(It is hard to not notice my  manly, enormous yaoi hands. It doesn't matter since Joshu is a bishounen yaoi man anyways.)

¡Hola!//Hi! I don't know if you still make use of this blog, but well, just to comment, I became a simp of Joshu... And, it feels good to not be alone thanks to this blog! </3♡
I apologize if there were any grammatical errors, English is not my first language :b
Olá! English is also not my first language, so there is no problem at all. If they didn't judge me (so far, at least) they will not judge you either. It is a safe space.
Yep, I make poor use of this blog nowadays, I know! I'm so sorry, but since Jojolion's last chapter, I have been kinda of uninspired. Nonetheless, I still love Joshu VERY much!! And I probably always will, so it makes me super happy that you feel that way: it was my primal intent with all of this.
It may seem silly to make such a big deal out of a fictional character, but if he is well-written and is intriguing to us, where's the crime in simping on him?
You are not alone, my dear friend, and shouldn't be ashamed of your preferences. XOXO. Thanks for the ask! ♡♡

Joshu & Neglect
This post obviously contains mentions of childhood (and current) emotional neglect so. Uhm. Don't read if??? yk. This isn't just about neglect, it also just.. mentions all the negative ways he's treated & raised, and Intrusive thoughts. This post is LONG, btw.
I GUESS you can say this is a headcanon but again I feel very strongly about these things & whenever I talk about Joshu, these are 100% apart of him. I'm so. Into pyschology that. Again these things just feel canon to me even though... just a hc grrrr
I'll try to format this in sections but it's gonna be a little difficult. I'm going to start with his current definite life, and then how i think his childhood was. Disclaimer: I'm not hating on the characters I mention in this like Norisuke or Jobin, I like them but... yk. They aren't the best towards Joshu. Which actually makes me love Araki's writing even more, but anyways
Family Ages
This is just to start off with a flat idea of how everyone's ages/birth order can effect a growing child. I will only be mentioning the siblings. Jobin is currently 32, Hato is 24, Joshu is 19, and Daiya is 16. When Daiya was born, Joshu would've been 3, Hato was 8, and Jobin would've been 16. This leaves Hato or Joshu to be the middle child, but since Joshu was the 2nd to last, it leaves Joshu to be the middle child, or atleast given the treatment of one. Aka: Joshu has Middle Child Syndrome. And to back that even more, we can tell that everyone else in the family is successful and functioning, but Joshu seems to be the least stable, in most ways.
In families, the middle child tends to get ignored the most, and their needs are often put to the side because the parent/s have to focus on the youngest, and possibly make sure the oldest aren't going off and doing regretful stupid things. Middle children often tend to have lower self esteems, struggle socially, and feel the desperate need to be noticed. This can cause people pleasing tendencies, and the middle child to grow independent & defend for themselves, once they realize no one else will.
This sounds familiar, right? This, imo, perfectly fits Joshu. He checks off every requirement. And it only gets worse after this.
Family Hierarchy
Like a food chain I mean, and this excludes Norisuke since he's obviously at the top. Down the list, in order of family importance/respect, it goes: Jobin, Hato, Daiya, and then Joshu at rock bottom. Everyone seems to get along perfectly well, and the first three don't ever really get on eachother's nerves or degrade eachother.
But for Joshu? Jobin obviously doesn't like him, he treats him similarly to a dog. Hato & Daiya seem okay with him, but even then, Joshu does seem to be sort of a joke to Hato, just a little. Even when you're joking and having fun with people, and seem to be on the same level, you can still be lower than them (trust me I have experience being treated like a dog). Daiya seems to be alright though?
It's obvious no one has any form of respect towards Joshu, with the constant jokes, belittling him, treating him as if, again, he's a dog.
Jobin
This is entirely from the beetle fight alone, there's enough to analyze. It's quite clear he doesn't care for Joshu. He belittles him a lot, yells at him, and forces him to do things like he's just a dog to him. And yes, I use the dog comparison A LOT but it's very true. And you can tell Joshu knows, even if he keeps trying and trying to please Jobin to be respected at all. When Josuke 'orders' Joshu to put the glue back, he stares at him and grits his teeth, but complies anyways, sweating.
Tumblr media
"That's just because he doesn't like Josuke!" Yes, he doesn't like Josuke, but that's not all. Araki takes his time to put in panels where Joshu is seen, looking hurt- either sad or angry (ex: there's a panel after Norisuke pays Joshu to give his room to Josuke. Hes staring back at them, hurt). Here, with showing him grit his teeth & not fight back, he sees that both Jobin and Josuke are treating him like an animal. Constantly giving him orders, and talking down to him. He's upset, but can't do anything about it. Especially with Jobin in the room.
This also ties back to his people pleasing behaviors. He desperately wants any form of respect from Jobin, no matter how much he doesn't want to do some of the things he orders. Ex: cheering on Josuke. If everyone was on the same level, maybe Joshu would fight back to Jobin and argue that he doesn't want to cheer on Josuke, but he does it anyways. Most of how they treat him during the beetle fight, is either ignoring him, ordering him, or shouting at him.
Now, away from the beetle fight. In family's, sometimes if there's a child who's being ignored, the oldest will take them in and raise the kid themself, but its obvious Jobin didn't do that.
Norisuke
This one upsets me the most. It's obvious Norisuke doesn't like his own son very much. When talking to any of his other kids, he gets along, they're smiling and having fun, but whenever Joshu does anything his face is blank or he looks annoyed, and he doesnt really care towards how Joshu feels.
For example, when Josuke first came into their house, during the family photo Norisuke kept ordering Joshu to switch places. Now, back to my last post, thats a pattern he's very used to (autism), and it's upsetting for him to break. So he gets anxious, and doesn't want to move places from the middle. But then, Norisuke shouts at him, and his reaction makes me extremely sad. Joshu is shaking, and sweating, looking like he's about to cry. He then reluctantly moves places, complying after his dad just. Shouted at him. Infront of his entire family, plus Josuke and Yasuho.
Tumblr media
I think him moving places just for Josuke to take his spot, also is a gesture towards how little Joshu means to his family. Once Josuke came into the household, he replaced Joshu, and caused Joshu to be even further down on the family food chain. He's treated worse, and compared to a guy who doesn't even know WHO he IS. I would be extremely hurt by that.
Now, another example. When Norisuke was giving Josuke Joshu's room, he never mentioned it was Joshu's room, and didn't ask Joshu. I get he wanted to give Josuke a room, but he took his own son's room without asking and put him in the garage. And then when Joshu notices and mentions it, Norisuke keeps shrugging him off and ignoring him, even when Josuke said he was okay with having the garage. He kept insisting against his own son's room, once again showing how Joshu is easily replaceable to his family.
Tumblr media
In the end, Norisuke has to pay Joshu to just deal with it, and go away. After he complies, as I said before, there's a panel where he sadly turns back and stares at them, he doesn't look angry, he just looks upset, hurt that his own dad had to pay him to give up his room to a stranger and had to pay him.
Tumblr media
Which.. goes to my next point.
Money
Joshu seems to have a love for money, and I don't think that's just a random thing character trait of his. Norisuke frequently has to pay his son, who's feelings he ignores, so he goes away. Due to his lack of attention even in his life, he gains an attachment to what little he gets, money. I think he obviously doesn't know what actual parental love should be, but he knows something is wrong with how he's been treated his whole life, and the only thing he ever gets is money.
Usually, with neglected people, once they get a hint of any form of 'affection' they will latch onto that. With Joshu, due to how much he gets paid to leave people alone, he got hooked to it and really loves money now. It also increases his independence when he gets the money, so he can go buy and do his own things. Even then, though, it's the equivalent of a parent gifting the child they don't care for things in hope they forget and get over whatever they did. It's not a good behavior or habit, and Norisuke definitely didn't raise Joshu well.
It's not entirely Joshu's fault for why he is the way he is, he was simply raised in a shitty way, which caused him to gain shitty habits. Money is the only thing he tends to get from other people, so he's very protective of it.
Also, on Shakedown Road, when he told the mother she could buy another of whatever he broke, you can take that as him either just trying to fix the situation, OR his attachment to money making him think that "money=happiness", and that just because the kid gets a new thing, the kid won't still be hurt by the object being broken.
Josuke
Joshu sees Josuke as someone who's taking what little he has. His room, his crush, his family, ect. He doesn't have much to start with, and so Josuke suddenly coming in and taking these things from him, he's gonna panic. It's not Josuke's fault that this is happening, but Josuke IS apart of it and why Joshu feels the way he does. Joshu is upset that his own family rather pay attention to this stranger than their own sibling/son. Obviously you're going to act aggressively towards someone who's taking what little you have.
Self Esteem/Depression
I know Joshu doesn't SEEM to be very depressed, and that he has an ego, but it's difficult. I'm a similar way with him, where you CAN be depressed & have a low self esteem, but still be able to have fun, 'function' and be struck with an ego/high self esteem at times. His depression comes and goes, and he ignores it. He's aware that he's seen as a dog to his family, but he ignores it, and carries on acting like he's a really sick dude.
I feel like at times,.. like with me, he suddenly gets struck with his depression, mostly when on his own, so there's no outside influence to keep him functioning. At times, when he's in his room, the ways he's treated comes back to him and makes him feel like shit. He doesn't understand why he's treated in these ways, or why people don't like him. I think this could sort of because of his autism, and self awareness.
Also, he doesn't even know HIMSELF if he's special. At the end of Milagro Man, he contemplates if he has anything.
Tumblr media
I don't think he's actually being hopeful here, usually comments like these, especially from his state, are probably "crisis" moments when you realize you're.. really nothing. He's aware of how people treat him, and that he really doesn't have anything, and that no one actually likes him. He's searching and trying to find ANYTHING to prove that he does have meaning, that he IS special. But he can't find anything, he trails off. He has a low self esteem, that the ignores and shrugs off, that he's able to pretend he's actually fine & thinks highly of himself despite all the points saying he probably isn't doing too good. He's probably never been told he's special, interesting, or that he's positively effected anyone.
Childhood
FINALLY, we are at how I think his childhood was. Based on all these points and things I probably forget to mention, this is the conclusion I've come to about his childhood.
Due to Norisuke having to take care of Daiya, and Jobin being too busy, no one ever noticed him. He was left to fend and entertain himself. I think he was a very quiet kid for awhile, due to this. He learned that no one is going to even try to give him attention.
I feel like he was often placed infront of electronics. TV, ect. This is why he thinks some of the things he does, and why he has a screwed vision of what love is. He's a classic case of being given unlimited internet access as a child. He was raised by the internet, and had no one irl to tell him what's right or wrong. At a young age, he found things he shouldn't have, and it slowly led to him thinking things like sex & money = love/affection. He didn't have anyone really to tell him that love is more than that.
In my last Joshu art post, I mentioned, imo, that he thinks love/romance is mostly physical. I feel as if his mindset is literally the song "Inside You" by That Handsome Devil. If you don't want to listen, here's 2 lyrics that explains what I mean: "Tell me I'm beautiful, give me your love. It's never enough, I just want to fuck" and "Tell you you're beautiful, give you my love. it's never enough, you just wanna fuck".
Due to his lack of attention, being placed infront of electronics, and never being told what love should look like, he connected all the wrong dots and came to the conclusion that love is physical, and he has to express that. What little knowledge he has of actual romance is from what little (shitty) romance movies he watched, and Jobin & Mitsuba. He simply just.. doesn't know what love is, and again it's not entirely his fault, he wasn't raised correctly.
Which, is why he's I guess perverted. I also mentioned in the tags of that post that I think there's more negatives that comes to being raised to think this way, and this is what I mean. This is entirely a headcanon, but yk. Outside of his perverse thoughts, it's difficult for him to not make every situation somewhat sexual, and it frustrates him. Like.. hypersexuality in a way. This next headcanon I'm not 100% sure or dead set on if I like it, but I think at times when he's on his own, upset, or trying to get by in a normal situation, he gets perverted Intrusive thoughts due to how fixated his mind is on it.
ANYWAYS back to his childhood. At some point after being ignored for so long, he began to act out in hopes of getting ANY attention. Fighting, whining, clinging to Norisuke & Jobin in hopes he's actually get the attention he's been deprived of. Obviously, it didn't work, and neither of them like him or care enough to treat him correctly.
Also, with Yasuho being his only childhood friend that stayed with him, he became extremely attached to her. Plus with her giving him a kiss- he's never gotten much affection ever in his life, and so that was a sudden flood of a feeling he's never had before. And so, being deprived of affection, he latched onto her as the only source of positive attention he can get. Due to being raised like shit, and being autistic (unable to read social cues), he doesn't actually realize she doesn't like him anymore.
Back to how he was neglected, due to not being raised correctly or given attention, he wasn't properly socialized. So that, plus his autism, makes it extremely hard for him to get along with people and know what's right/wrong/weird/normal to say or do. I think I had more to say here but I forgot.. my memory sucks
Conclusion
Joshu is inherently, a neglected, starving dog in his own family. He's starving for attention and affection, and with Josuke coming into the household, he's taking what little he has. Due to this, he's EXTREMELY defensive
He's, imo, a obviously neglected character, who I think Araki intended for people to notice, that he wasn't a perfect guy but there's reasons for why he is the way he is, but due to people being too closeminded and only taking things at face value, they only see the negatives of his behavior and don't see WHY he's like this in the first place. I believe you're supposed to atleast he able to sympathize with him, but people misinterpreted him to this point. He's a realistic character, and you can find a lot of these traits in people irl
And similarly to the end of my autism ramble, once again, PLEASE actually take the time to understand and analyze characters like this before horribly misinterpreting them and coming to all of the wrong conclusions... as it's quite shitty to people who have actually gone through these things irl 😭.. smh urrgghh
If I forgot anything I'll make a seperate post to add on, but I guess I now have my main Joshu HCs over with

joshu & autism!!!!!! cuz he's..... autistic yipe. coughs um. cue the ramble. Ig this is an HC but it seems very implied. I word this very silly btw I'm feeling silly. Starting off:
Lack of social knowledge
This ALONE screams autism. First of all: romance. He cannot tell for shit that Yasuho doesn't like him, and yk! autism. He's always been bad socially, no matter who or how close they are. I also like to think this is partially due to. neglect (hc) but I'll uhh make a seperate post about that
Anyways, to further back it more than just. That, he also doesn't know what right/wrong/normal/weird to say or do in any situation. Flirting, impulse reactions, and like when Hato started laughing at him & calling his lobster weird (I think I don't remember) and he just. Sat there confused
He also takes things at face value, if I'm using that word correctly (paper moon arc & what he thinks love is.. hc but... yk)
Emotions
I've never seen anyone this close 2 me on the spectrum like this. Joshu is a very emotional guy, completely unable to hold back his feelings & what he does because of them. He feels emotions very strongly, which is why it seems like he's "overreacting" or being a "dramatic crybaby" to... certain people (allistic fans eww).
Ex: Love, anger, sadness, ect. Due to being unable to hold back his feelings, he's extremely expressive when it comes to his love for Yasuho (and due to my last point he doesn't get she doesn't like him). And now with anger, most points are to Josuke. Being very emotional like this, you tend to hold a lot of grudges because (atleast for me) with the tism it's very hard to forgive someone about smthing you took very seriously. Behind closed doors, maybe he feels bad about it, but the moment they're interacting again his grudges & anger comes back
Also, with anger & sadness, he got so upset with himself at the end of Jojolion that he started beating himself up!!! autism icon
I also think by default he comes off as aggressive. Since that's also a type of humor. Being blunt & aggressive is silly in my eyes.. so in default situations he does come off that way, and he also doesn't care to mask bc, again, he doesn't know what's right/wrong/normal/weird to say/do.
He's also very empathic, even if he usually acts aggressive. Like how he got sad w that kid in Shakedown Road, during Beetle fight when Jobin told him it would kill the beetle, and also when Josuke's nose started bleeding. He does care, he just struggles expressing himself "properly"
Special Interest
This boy is so obsessed w/ his idol & Johnny Depp!! Those r definitely his special interests. He bought all of those seats and, I may be remembering incorrectly, but has watched.. several or all of his films? Take this loosely my memory isn't too good. I don't think I need to explain his idol. Also.. to my next point:
Weighing Importance
As in what he finds to be more important than other things. For ex: when his dad told him to get a job (a normal importance), he ignored him and kept insisting on whatever the idol thing was. He weighs his special interests & emotional needs more than things that don't seem to apply to him.
Patterns
The family photo scene alone is enough. It seems stupid to other people, but even the littlest of patterns can feel horrible to break. And so, with his spot in the family photo nearly being taken, that's a common pattern of his that's being broken!! It stresses him out, plus Yasuho & Josuke getting along, and his dad stressing him out even further by yelling at him (and consistently never really paying attention to his feelings), he's bound to get really upset. I have more to ramble about but again this will go in a. Neglect/sadder post
Food/Eating Patterns
No one but an autism fella would be able to tell that something changed about their comfort food (fish sausages).... the expired milk thing is mentioned in 'other'. Also i felt the urge to kill when they started fucking w/ the fish sausages before he was done, let him!!!!! Wait 5 seconds!!!!! Despite the family being very autistic they sure aren't autism friendly to joshu
Other
Fear of uncertain risks (breakfast scene where he mentions planes & expired milk). I too, have an irrational fear of consuming anything barely expired trust me I almost cried over something that was 1 day expired. This could also link to unreasonable anxiety/worry, which could be seperate or related due to overthinking. But yes. Tism.
Hair. Hear me out.... don't ask how I know this but. His hair is quite fun for stimming. Rocking forward/back and sideways is very fun.... the sensation of it is NICE... that haircut is for stimming purposes. Also goes back to his pattern thing, he's always had this haircut
Conclusion:
Joshu is very obviously autistic & people are too blind & filled with hate to tell that a lot of the little things they get pissy about is bc he's autistic. Joshu new autism icon real??? I mean.... we need one..... a bit of a ramble but most of the characters commonly agreed to be autistic are on a similar part of the spectrum (jotaro, girono, ect), we need more ppl on the side of the spectrum who are too emotional and expressive </3
allistic jojo fans please go three seconds without making fun of an autistic trait I HAVE bc you just need to tear apart a character you refuse to understand & realize actually exists irl

OK! SO! Jojolands SPOILERS + discussion.
The Jojo community is looking like a funny mess right now, and I very much love it! It is time to have great fun and to create absurd theories again.
There is a lot to say, but let’s talk about this rich Japanese person.
Tumblr media
Point one: Who even will grant that the person is, in fact, single? Maybe it is more than one person, but they want us - and the characters - to believe they’re alone. Thus, if it is indeed a member of the Higashikata family, I can think of a lot of creative scenarios and ways that they would be able to hide someone somewhere in that airplane without being perceived. What if Joshu disassembles someone's members to fit them into one of his big luggage? What If Tsurugi uses his stand to change someone’s face to the public at range, disguising the person’s true identity?  I don’t fucking know, but Jojo is Jojo, and it honors the bizarre in its name.
Point two: How can they know for sure about this person’s huge power, or about how difficult it is to beat them? Knowing tha three people were not enough? Or only the fact that the person is filthy rich already imply that they will be well protected and guarded?
Well, a lot of people are contemplating the possibility of the Japanese Man being Joshu. These are some reasons why one can have this thought:
His whole character was developed around themes like money and luxury, so it would be weird if he doesn’t have anything to do with this particular situation. Plus, Joshu is also known to be afraid of planes, AND has attested never wanting to fly to Hawaii - too specific! - AND was in the end crushed by an aircraft part, almost dying;
Tumblr media
He is the kind of person who would be loud about finding a big ass diamond;
Nut King Call status claims that his Developmental Potential is A, so he can turn stronger with Joshu’s - possible (???) - change of personality/ ripeness. Also, NKC was the only stand to not show in Jojolion manga’s spine, making us believe he may be now significant enough to make his appearance in Jojoland’s spine instead (or idk, Araki just forgot about NKC 💀);
Araki have said in August 2021 that he would like to write another arc with Joshu (I have an entire post discussing that matter);
Actually, the main reason I'm suspicious that it's not Joshu is that there are many tips around that theory! I think It would be too simple, too plain… Joshu is never that predictable, JJBA is never that obvious.
But who knows, who knows. Even if it is not him, or even a Higashikata, I hope we get to see something more about the future of Jojolion’s cast.
I trust  my man Araki, and I am very excited to catch up on a Jojo part since it’s very beginning! Hope you all are also liking Jojolands so far! :)

Seven times Joshuu acted like a normal human being, but no one is talking about! [ full of big SPOILERS ].
Since the end of Jojolion, we don't have much Joshu content! :(( But if you are here, you know that the man is full of good, bad and - especially - dirty moments. Most people, of course, love to point out his bad aspects and moments. And with valid reasons, maybe. But hey: what about the decent ones? We don't see much of it. So today I'm ready to proudly wear the questionable taste t-shirt and represent my few weirdo-enjoyers, going further into the positive spectrum of these iconic rat actions.
Tumblr media
1- Oh, Shakedown Road, my love! Here we can see Joshuu showing signs of shyness, social panic and remorse. He simply seems to blame himself for the girl's sadness and is very worried about it, apologizing more than once. Gappy, otherwise, is clearly a more analytical and chill-going type of person. Very interesting.
Tumblr media
2- Still in Shakedown Road arc, we have this brief moment. The use of sweet adjectives (with no sarcasm!) demonstrated that Joshu is jealous of Josuke because he, first of all, recognizes his strongest pros, and not cuz he is a total asshole without self-critique and that can't acknowledge other people's good traits. One of the things i find most fascinating about Joshu is how he can be so self-conciouss in a minute and in the other delusional as fuck. Such a funny little guy.
Tumblr media
3- Every Day Is a Summer Vacation. When Jobin revealed that the beetle was going to die, Joshu seemed to be very anxious and worried about it. People compare him with Anasui; not saying one is better than other, but, romantic obsessions aside, they are indeed very different in character conception. Joshu is always threatening to make grotesque things, but is he willing to go further with his threats? Most of the time, i would say no - he's too of a coward (but Anasui would, lmao). Weird thing but like how much Joshu trembles… such an emotional fella, isn't he?
Tumblr media
4- Not only does Joshu worries about Josuke's state let aside not really liking him that much, but he does the social ritual of asking if he is okay! Josuke/Joshu parallels with Dio/Jonathan are clear at the begging of the part, but Joshu and Josuke actually have an overall neutral relationship after the middle of Jojolion.
Tumblr media
5- Now he is showing his sweet side, being protective with everyone who is considered family by him. At that moment of the manga, Joshu was the only one trying to fix things in a diplomatic way. He, still, verbally acknowledges the damaging aspects of isolation/ loneliness, besides constantly going through it himself, and this is very sad (god, I love him so much).
Tumblr media
6- That one is a classic. Not much to say: Joshu was unable to confront Jobin in a direct manner, but still managed to save Yasuho by discreetly kicking the cellphone. That imo shows another very prominent Joshu contradictory aspect: his strong urge to express/ rebel himself merging with him constantly accepting submission social roles.
Tumblr media
7- And the last ocasion, of course. This one I would say people are more willing to recognize as a genuine act of redemption. By letting Josuke choose the cake that better represents the fruit company, Joshu accepts his presence and importance as a member of the Higashikata family. Considering that all of the events in Jojolion occurred in less than three months, that's a more than reasonable lapse to start to get along with your new and strange adopted brother. Everything about this moment is just adorable and I am indeed happy about the end. It shows that a character's development may be not that astonishing, gradual, or linear and yet still happen. Very realistic of him, not gonna lie.
Tumblr media
I consider quite clear and even agreeable that these moments per si can make one re-interpreter a few Joshu misleads. I didn't include the polemic ones, like the equivalent exchange scene, because I am not sure myself if it could be considered a pro or a con and I am not yet prepared to interpret it properly until reread Jojolion. My point is that JJBA is so absurd that we naturally tend to forget trivial details even though these also construct one's personality. Honestly, I could do way more, but I'm too lazy. Honorable mentions to any Hato and Joshuu interaction ever. Fuck, and Milagro Man? This arc is the whole Bible to me! God bless Joshu. Or his "good side", at least. 💖
