Temporary Art Break

I know I've fallen behind on posting more Toon arts, but it hasn't fallen off my radar. However, I've got a cold this week and am about to go on a trip next week, and in the meantime I'm going to try to dedicate more time to some art book reading/practicing, so currently I feel like I need to announce a short hiatus while life's throwing all that at me. Once I'm back and rested I'll be ready to draw more Toons. ^^

I need to share this because I've posted about the JP stuff before and I love the art style.

I dunno if anyone’s done this before, but here’s a bunch of Toon references from the TTO Japanese brand art.

Last night I was helping a friend out with understanding how to replicate the Japanese TTO art style, so I gave her some tips & a page of references that she could refer to. Decided to share it here because it might be helpful for others :)

I believe the Japanese art style was completely composed with vectors; A lot of the characters I found originated in SVG format. What’s great about these assets is that, since they are in vector format, you can scale them to any resolution without worrying about quality degradation. (Though the files attached are PNGs since I don’t think Tumblr supports uploading SVG graphics lol)

Another crucial element of this art style is the heavy emphasis on action poses. If you look close enough for some of these, you might notice several oddities with the proportions of some of the Toons. It’s all about the big picture and grabbing the user’s attention with cool-lookin’ characters!

So I'm tentatively reopening my Requests for the first time since 2016! It's for drawing practice though, and I'll draw when I draw, haha. So if you want your Toon to be a future victim of my average drawing non-skills, just send over a pic of the Toon and optionally a temperament(i.e. Silly, Serious, Active, Anxious, Happy-Sad-Angry-so-on...) and I'll put my best Toony foot forward!

This is largely for experimental purposes so I will be trying out different programs, mediums and techniques for lineart/coloring as I get brave enough, but the core Toon style I like so I won't change that.

In short, I'm practicing drawing and I'd like to practice on your Toons if you're willing to sacrifice them to my mediocrity. NO REFUNDS. (it's free)

No timelines, just queues and drawing speed/mood.

About Art Requests

Sorry for the delay for those who requested art before I closed it, I’m hoping to finally get them done within the next few days, and then I’ll be done with art for a while. I would have loved to have kept doing the daily art the short time I did it, but I realized that it takes me hours just to finish one piece @_@ And I just don’t have the time or patience to keep that up.. I’m also not sure it’s made any real impact besides getting a lot of requests, which are great and fun and all, I just wish I had more time and patience..

I had plans for this blog, I wanted to do comics and more fun and silly things, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to get the satisfaction of doing them.. I have lots of followers, but it doesn’t seem like what I did would get much notice, and with what I’m dealing with in the real world, I need to find some clearer reactions of what I make for public view, I guess. I hope I can come back here someday soon and and make my plans a reality, but until then, I think I need a little break from the blog. Sorry to whomever this may disappoint, I hope to see you all again soon.
