ah our first look at how franky actually is, and hes sobbing like a baby over usopps circumstances. its such a juxposition, up until this point he had been using masculinity as a cover up due to how he perceived the straawhats, and so he had come off as a Crime Badguy, and then you hear him cry. it's different than zoro or sanji or any other characters brand of masculinity, even usopps. (in fact, usopp calls him a nitwit for it)

theres focus on his tea, how the square sisters bring it to him, how hes silly when he drinks it while its too hot, while he calls usopp "brother", he isn't mad when the hostage situation doesnt work out but responds with empathy. (he compliments usopp even if its a bit manipulative, calls him dignified and forgiving. usopp is none of these things especially in this arc)

(usopp also says "whatever happens happens" which is what zoro said during the initial fight, paralleling their facades of apathy)

he offers usopp a spot in his family (after being a little hypocritical about holding grudges) and we don't know the context around this at this point in the story, but with how soft franky is in this moment, it feels genuine, gets the intent across anyways. he compliments usopp genuinely this time. says hes thinking about usopps future. offering him a home

he offers the merry a place to stay and gets offended when usopp is overly polite. they aren't strangers. it's this need for warmth from usopp, this drawing out of kindness, offering a seat at the table. the option to be kind again when usopp can't fear rejection from him, usopp doesnt care what he thinks in this moment. and thats rare for usopp. franky says aqua laguna brings the city together with such fondness you can't help but think community is important to him.

franky cares about usopp now, cares about him in the same way his friends do because of the principals he's shared and the only thing keeping usopp from rejecting this warmth is he doesn't care. he doesn't. until he does. until franky, like his other friends, loves him enough to dismantle the ship, loves him enough to show him the ship. to hold him accountable.

I've been working on some full-body references for myself to go along with the head & face ones from before, and I'M FINALLY DONE.... With the East Blue Five at least LOL.

My goal in making these was to come up with my body type, hair, piercing, and height HCs (i dont care what ODA says I can make them any height I want <3) and finally settle my HC designs for some tattoos on the crew!

Also, because I am deeply mentally ill, I went back through the series and put down all the scars I think they should still have based on their battles <3

You'll find all five of them still have the X tattoo from Alabasta, and have gotten the Kozuki-clan-sympathizer moon tattoos on their ankles since leaving Wano!

Luffy has an even body type, built like a welterweight boxer or an olympic gymnast. He's got a lot of lean muscle hidden under a healthy layer of fat, though it concentrates mostly in his torso, leaving his limbs thin. He does oscillate wildly between pudgy and thin on a daily basis, based on how much he's eaten lately. He still has the 3D2Y tattoo to match Ace, of course! His scars include his iconic under-eye scar from his childhood, the cut on the back of his head from Jango's blade (usually hidden by hair and hat), assorted cuts from Kuro, a bite on his shoulder from Arlong, little cuts on his fingers and holes in his left shoulder and leg from Don Krieg's arsenal, the big hole in his chest from Crocodile's hook, the faded burn on his right side from Enel's spear, a hole in his right shoulder from Aokiji, the iconic X-scar from Akainu (lines up with Croc's hook and is also covering up/compounding with scars from Lucci from Enis Lobby), little holes in his chest and fingers from Doflamingo's strings, a gash in his left side from Katakuri, somewhat-evenly-spaced gashes on either side of his chest & thigh from Kaido's spiked club, and a missing tooth from who-remembers-when!

Zoro has a body type like a powerlifter or a heavyweight fighter. He goes on cycles of cutting and bulking, so his weight can fluctuate, but he has a huge amount of muscle mass, especially in his upper-body, and usually keeps a decent amount of padding to keep himself healthy. He isn't slacking on his legs at all, but he doesn't really focus on them. Zoro has powerlifter arms, if you put a sticky note on his back he wouldn't be able to reach it himself. He has a tattoo of the Shimotsuki family crest on his right arm to match the Alabasta X! Zoro's prominent scars include the one on his chest from Mihawk, cuts around his ankles from Little Garden, the scar over his lost eye from his two-year training, scars under his pecs as a result of surgery, the scar from getting Killer's scythe stuck in his pec/shoulder, and a couple scars on his head from Kaido. He also has faint, light-colored, burn-like scars on his forearms from reaching into the pain bubble Kuma conjured. He is also just covered head-to-toe in little lacerations from Mr. 1, Ohm, Kaku, and others.

Nami has an apple body type, with a large (custom-ordered <3) bust and broader shoulders than hips, with long slender legs, a long neck, and slimmer arms. She has a decent amount of upper body strength under the cushioning; her bo staff isn't just for show! She is also covered in freckles. Nami has many more tattoos because she deserves them!! Her left arm still has her iconic tangerine-pinwheel-swirl tattoo, which is now branching out with several more vine-like swirls and leaf-like halos. They branch above the pinwheel, leading around her shoulder and over her collarbone to mimic Nojiko's heart-shaped design, and swirl up onto the side of her neck. Below the pinwheel and surrounded by swirls is a tattoo of a compass, and below the compass (and above the Alabasta X) is a small symbol of a rabbit made up of similar swirls; a matching tattoo she got with Usopp. (She has a rabbit, which is supposed to symbolize him, while he has a swirly cat for her!) Nami's right arm is a sleeve tattoo made up of stylized rolling waves and clouds, decorated with the strawhat pirates jolly roger & several tangerine blossoms swirling around in the water. Most of Nami's scars fade easily, but her few prominent scars include the gash in her hand from her gambit to save Usopp, the gashes in her shoulder around her pinwheel tattoo, a few deep gashes in her foot from fighting Miss Doublefinger in Alabasta, two small lacerations at the sides of her breasts to indicate surgery, and a scar on her forehead from Ulti's attacks.

Usopp is pear-shaped, with a broader hip and slim shoulders. He was pretty twiggy back in Syrup, but started gaining weight on the crew, and then gained a lot on Boin and had the body type to hold onto it, mostly in his stomach and thighs. He has a healthy amount of muscle underneath, with bulging upper-arms and strong legs from his marksmanship and his running. Usopp has several tattoos as well, though where Nami's are more organized and elegant, his look like more like a collection of doodles out of a sketchbook. On his right shoulder is a tattoo of Sunny and Merry's figureheads making a sort of yin-yang symbol. Beneath it is a row of little vegetable icons representative of the Usopp Pirates, an onion a pepper and a carrot. On either side of them are a tattoo of a damaged Sogeking mask, and the strawhat pirate jolly roger. Under them is what looks like a woven chain of yellowish daisies, and below them is a symbol of a cat and a small heart made up of blue swirls; part of a matching tattoo he got with Nami. Usopp also has a much larger and more elaborate tattoo, that looks like a winding cascade of flowers snaking across his left shoulder and down his back. The flowers are meant to symbolize his crewmates; Starting on his shoulder with red cosmos for Luffy, then green thistle for Zoro, orange sunflowers for Nami, blue larkspur for Sanji, pink tulips for Chopper, purple casablanca lilies for Robin, teal anemone for Franky, greyish roses for Brook, and an indigo peony for Jinbe. Just below the design, at the small of his back, is a single yellowish daisy. Little yellow daisy petals float around the other flowers, swirling down towards the lone daisy. Usopp, like Zoro (and honestly more so than Zoro), is nearly more scar than skin. Still, his most prominent scars include a gash on the right side of his head from being bludgeoned by the black cat pirates (usually covered by his hair and headphones/bandana), deep lacerations on his chest shoulder and back from protecting Kaya from Kuro's claws, a few gashes in his back from Mr. 4's baseball bombs, a scar on the left side of his face from him and Luffy's fight in Water7, claw-like scars on the sides and back of his neck from Jabura, scars under his pecs and nipples to indicate surgery, gashes in his forehead from Ulti and Miss Merry Christmas, scars on his nose from all the different times he's broken it, and burns on his outer forearms from rescuing Kiku and Kin'emon from the fire in Onigashima. He still has assorted if faint scars from his altercations with the Franky Family, and several scars from his own experiments/clumsiness (mostly on his arms and hands).

Sanji has the body type of an olympic cyclist or swimmer, with a very lean and toned upper body but large, well-developed leg muscles. His waist naturally cinches in quite steeply, giving him the illusion of an hourglass figure. Sanji's scars include some sort of brand on the back of his neck of the number "3", a scar on his back from his spinal surgery on Drum Island, faint holes from Mr. 2 Bon Kurei in Alabasta, still-enduring lichtenberg figures from Enel (Zoro, Robin, and Usopp also used to have them but theirs faded), claw-like holes in his torso from Jabura in Enis Lobby, a gash through his torso and back from being stabbed by Absalom, a gash on his leg from Vergo in Punk Hazard, and lacerations on his chest and shoulders from Doflamingo. He also has assorted little scars on his hands and forearms from cooking & learning to cook. Also, as mentioned in the head&face ref sheet, he has a slightly crooked-broken nose and anisocoria (his left pupil is much larger and makes his eye color look darker from a distance, as well as a source of migraines and light sensitivity) from childhood head trauma.

I think I should share this with others, because the joy of this mental image is too much.

My darling friend @shakedowndreams has a fun AU fic ( link here ) that, summarized, is a fic in which Usopp dies and the crew is left to handle it, along side Usopp realizing he’s woken up into a cloudy, heavenly place with a bunch of men and women he recognizes as pieces of the Strawhats past.

This sounds fine and dandy however the pages are structured so there’s some downtime wirh Usopp, than back with the Strawhats.

I cannot imagine the shock the reader has to go through going from hearing Luffy softly cry himself to sleep and Sanji sorrowfully still making two bowls of food and suddenly turn the page and YORKI IS FIGHTING WITH HIRILUK LIKE PETER GRIFFIN VS THE CHICKEN ON THE FROMT LAWN WHILE BELLEMERE SMOKES A PACK BECAUSE “they just are bored, idk, they’re old.”

Issues like ‘oh god, Brook blames himself and needs Jinbe for support’ and it cuts back and Fisher Tiger and Tom are dealing with what they only know as a redneck who’s been here longer than they have asking “can fishman throw the ocean, and boil blood? Can y’all spit fire? How fast can you bite?’ Because he’s never seen one and Yorki SUCKS while Hiriluk makes lean in Saul’s sink???

I fucking love this fic SO much because of these fun inbetween ideas and I think y’all should have to hear it tbh.
