Almost done with my Chronicle re-release/update, A Lillie Bit of Books and Tomes, just thinking whether the tomes should use their previous items Or if I should switch it over to smithing templates; the big issue with the latter is I'd just have to make a lot more new books.... hmmmm.....

Easy thing now that I want to do: add as many ov the enchants from Minecraft Dungeons into the game as possible as a datapack. I was originally going to just put this in my mod, but now I can do both like... easily.

Also, I'm going to be rebranding pretty much everything I do; Valley of Plenty -> A Lillie Bit of Everything. Variations on a Theme: Fish -> A Lillie Bit of Fish. Chronicle -> A Lillie Bit of Books. Etc etc etc. This will make my stuff generally easier to find, as well as really mark the new era ov content, since pretty much all the restrictions on what I had been working on have been removed.

Some speculation: with paintings and enchants being data-driven, and having banner patterns and armour trims be data-driven but without custom input items, and having item components introduced overhauling NBT using a JSON style format... we're getting custom items. I'm guessing next up they'll make fireworks & potions data-driven, because that's pretty much all that is left. When they do this, the only real restriction on adding custom items will be allowing users to define item components in input items for recipes. Doing this will, effectively, create custom items anyways? So. It's really only a matter ov time and it's definitely something that is more "this is definitely Going to happen" than "this might happen"

From my discord:
This one is an interesting one. We're getting 3 new music discs, and 20 new paintings. 15 ov them were done by Zetterstrand. With these new paintings, they're also, as predicted, making paintings data-driven. This means you can add your own paintings! Any size, too! & with the changes to the tag for paintings, you can easily make it so that certain paintings cannot be placed naturally and must be found in chests or other loot tables. It's pretty cool! More interestingly, however: ENCHANTMENTS are now data-driven. This is huge. You can define pretty much anything about enchants, but their effects are obviously limited to built-in stuff. This is the list ov built-in stuff!
Apply mob effect: apply whatever potion effect you want, with duration and amplifier as well.
Damage: Applies damage; minimum, maximum, and damage type can all be chosen.
Damage item: Applies a specified amount ov durability damage.
Explode: causes an explosion. You can set whether it should be attributed to the user, the damage type, which blokcs are immune from the explosion, the knockback, an offset, the radius, whether it creates fire, how it interacts with blocks as a whole, small particles and large particles, and the sound.
Ignite: lights on fire for the given duration.
Play Sound: plays a sound! You can specify the sound, volume, and pitch.
Replace block: you can set which block, an offset, and a set ov rules for whether the block is replaced or not. This will be really, really interesting.
Replace Disc: Doesn't have anything to do with music discs! It's a cylinder for replacing blocks.
Run function: this one is the most powerful one; this allows enchants to run a command function when triggered.
Set block properties: allows you to change the properties ov a block without changing the block itself.
Spawn particles: A more powerful particle command, essentially. Allows you to define particle, position, offset, scale, velocity, and movement scale.
Summon entity: summons an entity! Also allows you to set the entity in question to join the team ov the owner ov the enchanted item.
There's also a ton ov other components, like checking the ammo type being used, setting damage immunities, whether the enchant takes effect based on location change, durability loss, during or after an attack, per-tick... it's a lot! Villager enchanted books and items are also now data-driven, too, along with everything that comes naturally enchanted, meaning you can set these things to show up naturally in world, or even easily remove something like mending from the game entirely. Other smaller things:
You can now detect whether something has sky access or not with commands.
You can now check for movement speed in specific directions and in general.
You can now check periodic ticks rather than every single tick without having to code a clock.
Attack knockback now works on players.
New attributes! ALL ov these can be used in enchants and such.
Burning time multiplier.
Explosion knockback resistance.
Mining speed.
Movement efficiency i.e. how much are you slowed by things like cobwebs
Oxygen bonus, i.e. chance to not use up an air bubble when underwater.
Sneaking speed.
Submerged mining speed, i.e. when underwater.
Sweeping attack damage.
Water movement efficiency.
holy shit

w. will your mod be available for mobile. <- guy who only has minecraft mobile and cannot afford pc right now
Unfortunately, this is really unlikely if not impossible for me personally; between the fact that I am a single person working on this mod, and that Bedrock edition doesn't have "mods" in the same way as java edition does, creating an add-on to accomplish all my work would essentially require rebuilding it from the ground up. Perhaps if I end up actually finding more people to help, such a thing would be possible, I know I'd appreciate being able to set up a team, but attempting to do so has been a pretty fruitless endeavor so far.

Bone spider remodel!
Originally, these spiders are from Minecraft Earth, & since that game is no longer available, they kinda no longer exist in any way within Minecraft, which is a shame. I'll be bringing them back for my mod, though.
I changed the palette up a little bit so that the bone patterns look better on it, & moved the "skull" texture to the abdomen. Otherwise, it follows the same general proportions as in my spider redesigns.
Like in Minecraft Earth, these critters will spit Bone Shards at the player. They'll spawn in the place ov spiders in deepslate level caves, as well as in dark forests. The bone spider is larger than regular spiders, but will still only be the third largest spider.
this is for my mod Valley of Plenty! all posts r tagged accordingly

I think next mob models I wanna do are the bone spider from minecraft earth + a redux ov the original (brown) spider
Tumblr media Tumblr media
obviously using my new spider model tho, but I think the bone spider should be like. Big. & the brown spider should be Bigger.
n then it'd also be cool to do the Giant cave spider & unused Web Spider from Dungeons too
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The giant spider would obviously b rly big, miniboss type mob yknow. & the web spider I'm thinking should be smaller than even cave spiders.
As for Spawning, the bone spider would be found in deepslate level Caves + dark forests, the brown spider in other Caves + jungles, the giant spider in the new Spider Den cave biome (along w all other spiders maybe?), & the Web Spider could b found in Swamps.
I'd like to also make it so that the brown spider dangles from ceilings, n introduce some new rope web blocks that can hold pots / chests.

what version(s) of MC is your Valley of Plenty mod going to be initially released for?
So, I'm planning for a 1.21 release due to the massive schism that's going to come with its release; it'll be a lot easier to develop on 1.21 than it has been on 1.20, & split development across versions is a pain in the ass to begin with. While Valley of Plenty is my own "forked" version mod, I do want to keep it up to date where possible, since the whole idea is rounding out minecraft & fixing issues that I personally have with it. All of which is to say that Valley of Plenty will pretty much stay only really developed on whatever the latest version of Minecraft is at the time: I don't really have the resources as a single developer to cater to 1.16 / 1.12 / 1.8 players yfm.

okay yeah 1.21 is interesting now for real. there's two points on it.
a massive amount ov mods will now be able to be completely recreated within datapacks, with heavily optimized performance, entirely vanilla. Custom Items are, effectively, 100% possible, with no more serious restrictions. Anything can be food with any stats. Anything can be edible. Anything can be given durability, or custom stack sizes, or any functionality in any recipe with any data.
because ov the changes under the hood to allow for this, the majority ov datapacks and mods will break. This is another 1.12/1.13 split, another 1.8/1.9 split. There will be a distinct category ov mods and datapacks made Before 1.21, and mods made After, and the functionality ov said mods and datapacks will be unambiguously more powerful on the latter end ov this split. It's just a question ov who will want to update their stuff to the new coding requirements, and who won't.
