i’ve been getting more and more enraptured by the idea of an au where merlin and arthur get a happy ending and then this older!arthur in his 30s or 40s (or 50s for all you silver fox loving ladies) gets struck with a time travel spell and ends up in the past, so there’s two arthur’s. one of them is in the know and sticks to merlin like his life depends on it even tho they have to hide him from uther. or if its later, arthur having a more kingly version of himself to be jealous over because older arthur’s all rugged and merlin’s def besotted
