Today was our last coop shift for group A, it was a bitter sweet moment for us. We had accomplished so much and learned new things at westjet and am grateful to have had the chance to be part of it. I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything for coop besides doing it at westjet. I remember how determined I was to apply for westjet and had nothing else in mind or even a back up. Today there was a morning rush and a lot of Seneca students in because it was both group A and group B. It was actually group B’s second day training at westjet and they mostly shadowed us and we answered any questions they had for us. It was really fun and I enjoyed my self, also met a lot of wonderful people working at westjet. Not everyone from group A are present in the picture above, some had left already and some were starting at a later time. Overall this experience is unforgettable and I want to thank everyone who was there for making it even more fun. 😢🎉💕

When I arrived at coop I knew I was going to be left all by myself because when I checked the schedule no one from Seneca was scheduled with me. Well actually Niel was but I was told he switched his shift leaving me all alone. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, I mostly did LA with another westjetter and would switch to kiosk so that I wouldn’t be left with nothing to do. It also made time go by faster 👍🏼, in the end it wasnt that bad working alone.

I arrived at work at 1:35pm when I entered the team room I had realized I put on my high heels instead of my flats 🤦🏻‍♀️. As you can already tell I had a painful shift, I had mistakenly put on my high heels thinking I was heading to school for some reason. This day we also had a few cancellations because of the wind storm so we had to send the guest to the desk to sort their situation out. Overall I had an okay shift because of my feet 😭 I will be more careful when choosing my foot wear. Luckily Kimberly let me wear her flats for a bit which I was thankful. In the picture above you can tell I was in pain.

Today at coop, I had a lot of fun. I mostly spent my time with Alyssa because we were both assigned LA (line ambassador) and basically our role there is to ask the guests where their headed to? If they’re flying with westjet? And if they tried checking in on the kiosk. We ask those questions because if they were going to the US they would have to go to the yellow flag that reads zone 1 and also we redirect the guests to the kiosk because it’s time efficient so instead of the guests waiting in line they can go to the kiosk and get everything they need there however it can be tricky because sometimes the kiosk doesn’t read the passports or PR of the place they’re headed to. In the end I had another amazing day working with westjet. 😌😊

Saturday February 9th,2019

It was a good shift. There was a lot of Seneca and Humber student working that day. It was fun having to work with them and most of the Seneca students finished at the same time which was great. I really enjoyed working with both Seneca an Humber, we tried our best to help another if we needed any questions to be answered. Since Humber are there full-time they know more information or will tell us something we haven’t known before which is good because i can use it for future reference. When we took this picture it was absolutely dead so we didn’t have any guests to help. About 10 mins we had a few. Come by and ask for assistance. In the end we all had fun

A Slow day.....

Today I started my shift at 2pm. I arrived at the team room around 1:30pm and I just waited until my time came. As I was heading towards the floor I was looking at the turn schedule which gives me information on the flights we were going to have today and it didn’t seem to be busy. As I expected it was pretty dead the whole shift. By the way I finished at 8 pm lucky me because the other girls were done at 10-10:30pm which I felt bad, I don’t think I can survive those long hours standing. Luckily for me I had Alyssa, Sarah and Krizia so it wasn’t that boring since we talked about coop related stuff or even about the aviation industry. Of course when it was time to help the guest we were always ready to help. Alyssa was the one who took that picture of me and Krizia which was nice since I rarely have pictures of me at co-op.

Snow Storm

On Monday, January 28th, I was at my placement at westjet. I heard on the news that Canada, Toronto was going to get 20cm of snow or more however I didn’t think much of it. All of a sudden it started snowing a lot, however I didn’t take in the fact if there is going to be that much snow that it will affect the flights and traffic that day. I was told that there was more than 42+ cancellations that day, which was difficult for the CSA’s since there were a lot of people complaining that they have to wait until the next day to fly which is reasonable due to the weather however people just want to go home. All the hotels in the area were fully booked which made it difficult to accommodate every guests. Even the taxi wait was long, more than 400 people waiting for a taxi and since the streets were bad it was harder for drivers to get by or get to their destinations. Overall me an my coworkers were at the kiosk giving people information on what to do, it wasn’t that busy for us since everyone wanted to go to the desk and ask more specific questions, I wouldn’t be able to answer. That day the drive home was bad. Can’t imagine what it was like for the people using ttc to get home.😭😭😰

Jan 25th was the day where most of us Seneca westjetters were scheduled, only a few were missing maybe 2. This was a fun day, getting to work with everyone again, since all our schedules are different. This was also the day that my career placement teacher (Jennifer ) and my westjet supervisor (Chris) were going to progress check everyone on how they are doing so far. I was a bit nervous, however after getting my progress check it was actually nice, it was more like a casual conversation than a serious conversation. After all Jennifer and Chris are really kind and amazing people, they are also very helpful and would gladly answer any questions you have.

The second day of co-op training -

Other Seneca students and I have gotten really close while working together for westjet. I am really happy I get the opportunity to work with them and make ourselves experience memorable while enhancing more knowledge in the aviation industry. We also get to work along side with some of the Humber students, they are all really friendly and nice people. The second day of training was mostly us shadowing the westjetters and more hands on. Which gave me a chance to get familiar with the airport (terminal 3) and knowing different things such as where different airlines are located incase a guest asked us, being able to know the best kiosk option for the guest for example, if they have an itinerary maybe it would be easier to put in the reservation code rather than the flight number, and knowing which direction to send the guests. Overall I am loving my time at westjet and hope to meet more wonderful people.

P.S don’t wear highheels if your going to stand for a long period of time not recommended 😣😂

First week at WestJet

The first week doing my co-op at west jet, I felt many emotions such as feeling happy, nervous, scared, and very anxious however I was excited to learn new things. On my training days I felt overwhelmed with how much information was thrown at us. I feel like when we were shadowing the westjetters it all started to make more sense. It was actually fun being able to assist the guests and direct them to the right places they needed to go. I’ve learned so much during my first week working at westjet and hope to learn more! 😌🤓
