Also, don't forget to check out what databases they have through their EBSCO subscription. You might be able to put together a to-read list via NoveList Plus or research your genealogy with MyHeritage Library Edition.
unsung benefit i think a lot of ppl are sleeping on with using the public library is that i think its a great replacement for the dopamine hit some ppl get from online shopping. it kind of fills that niche of reserving something that you then get to anticipate the arrival of and enjoy when it arrives, but without like, the waste and the money.

I can understand how this happened. Allow me to tell a tale about...
Nebraska Legislative Bill 574 - "Adopt the Let Them Grow Act and the Preborn Child Protection Act and provide for discipline under the Uniform Credentialing Act" The abortion part only passed because they tacked it onto the anti-trans youth healthcare bill, because they knew it'd pass. The person who signed off on it is was a medical expert, who knew that 12 weeks is not enough.
Again, this only passed BECAUSE it was associated with blocking GRS and mandating rules for the prescription of puberty blockers for trans youth.
As for how bills like this are attached? Simple. Via abusing Amendments and Omnibus bills (Bills written to sum up other bills into one).
if you're wondering why THIS tiktok ban bill made it through the senate unlike last time...

Try being undiagnosed and unaware of autism period until high school. And then years later when the topic comes up in discussion, your parents attribute a way you do things to "autism" and have you blindsided like... "What the fuck?" "Yeah, you exhibit a lot of signs, kiddo." And you never did shit about it, mom and dad? You just let me be and only told me to "stop being weird and talking to yourself" or to "quit shaking my leg, I can feel it from here" or to stop fidgeting during church because it was distracting. And don't give me that "everyone has autism if you think about it" crap. Good Heavens, this would explain my fascination with technology and video game music and how the worlds collide with FM Synth chips specs.
I'm pissed. Absolutely pissed.

Seriously folks, use LibreOffice instead of OpenOffice. Apache hasn't pulled any of the features of LibreOffice back into OpenOffice. It's on life support and on Version 4, while LO has advanced to Version 7 and then switched to Year.Release.Patch numbering.
PSA: Don't use Open Office
I keep seeing people recommending Open Office as an alternative to Word, and uh... look, it is, technically, an open source alternative to Word. And it can do a lot of what Word can, genuinely! But it is also an abandoned project that hasn't been updated in nine years, and there's an active fork of it which is still receiving updates, and that fork is called LibreOffice, and it's fantastic.
Seriously, if you think that your choices are either "grit your teeth and pay Microsoft for a subscription" or "support free software but have a kind of subpar office suite experience", I guarantee that it's because you're working with outdated information, or outdated software. Most people I know who have used the latest version of LibreOffice prefer it to Word. I even know a handful of people who prefer it to Scrivener.
Open Office was the original project, and so it has the most name recognition, and as far as I can tell, that's really the only reason people are still recommending it. It's kind of like if people were saying "hey, the iPhone 14 isn't your only smart phone option!" but then were only ever recommending the Samsung Galaxy S5 as an alternative. LibreOffice is literally a version of the same exact program as Open Office that's just newer and better – please don't get locked into using a worse tool just because the updated version of the program has a different name!

Mx, let me tell you something: You are actively misgendering all the multigender people who do identify as binary gender(s) or don't identify as nonbinary, of which there are many, which makes you a transphobe.

"No contentious religious differences..."
Whoever wrote this... didn't hear of a small group of Reformed Congregationalists, some of which came to America and the rest who fought in a bloody war to overthrow the king and establish Puritanical Control over the entire nation...

I never thought reading a book on Revival Druidry would trigger my understanding of the Eternal Struggle... but it did.
ALT: A photo of John Michael Greer's "Druidry Handbook" with a highlight over the sentence reading "Yet the dirty little secret of the ecological crisis is that it results from choices made by ordinary people."
