Figuring Things Out
Last year, it was a hard year but there were some good moments. However, I was struggling with myself mentally and emotionally. I’m 20 years old, still thinking what is the best career for me that I am passionate about. I was attending at a community college for two years, but for about a year, I was having a really hard time because I was missing two people that are very close to me- my twin…

Video shows Maryland cops REPEATEDLY pepper spray 15-year-old honor roll student.
5 ft 105 lbs girl, whose name has not been officially released yet, was brutalized by Hagerstown police after she on her bike was hit by a car, but refused medical assistance.
Her family’s attorney says that when police arrived, they grabbed the little girl, lifted her hands above her head and slammed her face into a wall.
“They slammed her against a wall, arrested her for refusing treatment, maced her 4 times in the police car while handcuffed, and took her to the police station instead of the hospital.”
She was put in the car, which is when a bystander began filming the incident. The video shows the 15-year-old with her hands handcuffed behind her back kicking at the police car door and later a cop is heard saying: “Put your feet in, or you’re going to get sprayed!” Officer proceeds to pepper spray her a few times.
The girl can be heard screaming: “I can’t breathe!”
youtube
The girl was only taken to hospital when she was released to her parents.
Three hours after being pepper sprayed she was finally able to wash her eyes.
She is now charged with disorderly conduct, two counts of second-degree assault, possession of marijuana and failure to obey a traffic device.

Being Mainstreamed
I have been deaf since birth. My parents decided that I learn how to speak orally because everyone in my family is hearing including my twin sister. I was in an very small deaf program for a few years where there were deaf and hard of hearing classmates until the middle of first grade. My ENT doctor (who is an awesome guy) told my parents that I should go mainstreamed right away to be around…

This is created for recent trending #whyIsign. #whyIsign was started by Stacy Abrams. She wanted to spread knowledge about sign language, how it helped so many deaf people and families, like myself, and to encourage more people to learn and use sign language, especially with deaf children.
I am eternally thankful for American Sign Language. You can find #whyIsign on facebook, twitter, and instagram. ★ Patreon ★ Tapastic ★ Twitter ★ Facebook ★

Dude I totally relate this! Like what is the point to spend money when I'm not gonna follow along? Even my parents think that I'll understand sounds at a church or tv without captions or plays but that doesn't work that way.
I am SO mad right now.
My cousin invited me to see a play and I said no, because I am deaf and hard of hearing and therefore wouldn’t understand anything and it would be frustating to us both. But, well, instead of understand like an actual decent human being he said and I quote “Oh, but you should go anyway because you will get used to the sound ((still don’t understand what’s that supossed to mean)) if you go many times see plays. And other people will invite you to go to plays so you must get used to it now”.
Then, I explained, calmly, that it doesn’t work like that and it’s the same to say to someone on a whellchair that he should try to get used to walking because if he tried to walk everyday one day he would be cured.
And, guess what? He didn’t get it. Ugh That was when he said that I had to learn to lip read then and I lost it. Dudeee do you know how hard lip reading is?? Do you think it’s easy?? If it’s so easy then teach me ha ha.. I’m so shocked and so sad. He made it seem like it’s my fault I can’t hear well. A couple of years ago I would agree with him but now I know better and I don’t owe him shit. Am I alone facing situations like that?

Link
And people wonder why us Deaf/HOH get so tired easily? Well, this link explains it all.
Us Deaf/HOH struggle everyday to understand what hearing people are trying to communicate to us. We strain what residual hearing we (may) have. We use our eyes everyday to pick up visual cues, lipreading, and whats around us.  There is a reason why us Deaf/HOH are mostly visual people, we rely on our eyes, not our ears to communicate. Most of a reason why many of us prefer Sign Language as a mode of communication, even using paper/pen, less of a strain to our ears/mind.
When you see us close our eyes, look at our phones, not pay attention for a brief moment, go off to get some alone time… it’s because we want our eyes/brain to relax and give it a few minutes rest to regain some or little energy to keep going intensively, again for another long period of time.
Trust me, we aren’t ignoring you or being rude. This is our daily life experience. Please respect that and be considerate.

Still devastated.
The past weekend for me has been one of the saddest times and it still is. I was just heartbroken to hear what happened to Christina Grimmie and the victims of the mass shooting in Orlando all in one weekend. Christina Grimmie was a wonderful, talented, bright musician and it is horrible that this crazed gunman shot her three times when she went to greet him. It so sad to know that her brother…
