Bella quirked a brow at her comment on her hands but couldn't help the little smile that followed. It was no secret that Bella was often judgemental and therefore picky. On paper, Juliette Vanderbilt was more than a perfectly compatible person to share a summer romance with. If only Bella hadn't let her silly, romantic, heart run rampant during it all too. She would pretend it was just fine, really. She would certainly pretend she hadn't already seen that Gossip Girl blast about Juliette and William Huntzberger. "Thank you for thinking about them. My hands, I mean," she teased.

Letting out a laugh, she felt her shoulders relax a little more. "Oh, endlessly. And my older sister. As if they needed the ego boost, now or then." After a thoughtful sip, she added- "Besides the ongoing onslaught of legal texts, how have you been?"

Shit. Of course it had to be Bella, they hadn't seen each other since Summer. It hadn't ended badly exactly between the two of them. It just hadn't worked, as much fun as they had it just wasn't something that worked. "Oh, well good. Yeah, I have a feeling your hands would have to get tired after a while." God she sounded dumb, why did she feel like this. "Could be worse, all my friends had a crush on Tripp growing up. Do you know how gross it is to hear how hot your big brother is?"

Bella had hesitated at the counter where she'd first seen Juliette. Did they do casual chit chat, now? Summer was long over now, wasn't it? Despite her hesitation, there she was, taking a seat across from her (armed only with a chai latte). "I think I'm done for the day. There's only so many hours you can rehearse Florence Price and Chopin back to back before it's too much. That-," she paused to take a sip, and roll her eyes- "And my brother is now a full time presence at school. There is truly no escape."

Juliette had to focus on school she had just gotten home from a brand trip, it had been good but she had lost focus on school and had some pretty important tests. She was on her fifth coffee, having made a home in this coffee shop. She didn't look up from her computer as someone sat down. "Trying to study too?"

bella always was a stubborn person to talk to. a waldorf minion through and through. “no one has to change, they choose to. it’s about growth. then again, some people just aren’t ready for that. shame.” she gave as good as she got. after all, she was queen bee at constance once before she threw it away and disappeared. “at least you have an escape plan in place.”

serena kept a pokerface at the blatant digging that was happening. the search for information could continue on as long as bella wanted but serena wasn’t giving anything over. she couldn’t even if she wanted to. “nate’s more than capable of looking after himself.” she replied, not buying bella’s ‘kidding’ “i have a reading list for school that i need to finish and there are the seasons events to attend. other than that i’ll be catching up with friends and making the most of the time off. what about yourself?”

“tragic,” bella shot back with her kindest (and fakest) smile. she could read between the snide, of course. they both knew how to play the polite not-so-polite socialite like it was nothing. bella would never pretend to understand why blair went back to serena but she had decided- well, truly had no other option- to respect it. “i’d never leave the house without a ‘plan b’. i love a party as much as the next upper east sider but i think we both know the bigger they are, the harder they fall.”

with devastating restraint, she managed to not scoff at serena’s defense of nathaniel. whether she would ever admit it, bella knew that they both knew- that everyone knew- nate was spoiled goods. but whatever. “you would know,” she smiled. bella nodded appropriately at the chit chat, masking her disappointment at the lack of actual details from serena. “sounds like you’ll be having quite the summer. i imagine we’ll end up crossing paths again at some point then. a little of this, a little of that. travel, piano, brunching with pen-- it’ll be fabuleuse.”

Bella had not been on board with the concept of Jenny Humphrey when they were back at Constance. Much like her sister, Bella thought she ought to stick to the status quo and leave the Met steps alone. Things changed though, even Caitlyn came to accept Jenny as one of her own so for her sister’s sake... Bella did the same. Mostly. “Oh, definitely. Logan probably paid extra for just that-- the price of being iconic,” she smiled, probably joking. “You look nice, Jenny. Are you enjoying your summer so far?”

"you're welcome. of course and i'm sure if you'd been away any longer, there would have been an uproar too. my darling cousin included i'm sure, even if 'uproar' isn't really jackson's style."

“save yourself the stressors and just have fun tonight, no berating other guests, please” it was the blair waldorf way, bella giving her two cents to people was part of the dynamic. “thank you. it’s good to be back. i love being back home in turkey but there’s only so much coffee cups you can read before you crave the concrete jungle again”

"Now that sounds interesting," she teased, very clearly hungry for more information on this pairing. Perhaps if Bella could see them together, she'd learn all she needed to. People often gave too much away when they thought no one else was looking. "Has he formally met your parents yet?" Bella let out a laugh at her comment (it was supposed to be a scoff). She shook her head, fighting off a smile- "I am not going to justify that with a response."

“Probably a lot more than I give him credit for.” Hottest 30 under 30 was such a weird reference. Beth had to remind herself that the Frankie everyone else saw wasn’t exactly the one she knew. She liked her version of Frankie more, but then again maybe she was just biased. No, she was definitely biased. There was no doubt there. Beth let out a soft snort, “Absolutely not, someone will catch a picture the moment you do. I think that’s a cop out. You aren’t mean. Maybe you just pretend to be.”
