His eyes follow Xiao as the adeptus lowers himself to sit down as well, his expression seeming to brighten just a tad more, before he shifts his gaze towards the boats in the distance. "I guess they do - but it's all part of the fun."

He seems to perk up slightly at Xiao's claim though, looking back to the yaksha once more with a mixture of curiosity and interest - and, notably, encouragement as well. "Cloud Retainer said that you used to attend celebrations and gatherings with them before. I think it'd be good for you to spend time with them - and I bet they'd all love to see you."

That said, he knows that Xiao isn't the most social of beings. Last year's Lantern Rite comes to mind, when the adeptus had struggled at the dinner they'd been gathered at. Aether can't help but wonder if Xiao's more comfortable around the other adepti by comparison.

"Are adeptal gatherings different from mortal ones then?"

He looks down at Aether, contemplating his words. After a moment of thought and a glance around to check their surroundings, he sits down cross-legged beside the blond. "Tch. If mortals know nothing else, it is certainly how to gather and make noisy celebration." He says, though devoid of any actual severity. The adeptus watches the horizon, thinks of the vendor stalls, lantern glow and music that will soon enough fill the harbor.

"I still cannot linger around the humans for long. But, this year, I was considering the idea of visiting the other adepti at Jueyun Karst."

It has been a long time.

18. Is there a ship that you used to like, but not anymore?

//Hmmmmm, that's a tough one, because I don't usually stop liking ships? I think I kind of liked Klance when I first started watching Voltron, but it didn't last very long - mostly because the fandom was absolutely insane. I can't really think of any others though. I tend to stick pretty hard with ships that I enjoy.

19. Is there a ship you used to dislike, but now you like?

//Scarather/Scaralumi, actually, though this was back before the story had progressed so much with Wanderer. After all the lore for him was dropped and we got more interactions between Scaramouche/Wanderer and the Traveler, it very quickly became one of my favorite ships for both him and the Traveler. I'd say that the same goes for Kazuscara, again because I didn't see the appeal until we got all the backstory and lore that tied them so well together.

20. Is there a ship that you wanted to play, but couldn't yet?

//I have a lot of 'guilty ships' for my OCs between certain canon characters that will forever remain locked up in my brain, where no one else can see them. If we're talking strictly canon characters though, Xiaother is high on my list of one that I'd like to do - specifically when it comes to my Aether.

Raven (Wanderer)

Most of my biases for Raven are probably pretty obvious, with Kazuscara, Chiscara and Scarather/Scaralumi being in the top three, but Scarabedo is also a guilty pleasure of mine that I think has a lot of potential with them both being artificial beings.

"Well, I imagine that it's so that they have enough to go around," Aether chimes in from where he sits on the ground next to the Conqueror of Demons, an arm settled over one bent knee that's been drawn close to his chest, "They want to be able to celebrate with as many people as possible - it'd be disappointing for a lot of people if there wasn't enough to go around, don't you think?"

Tilting his head to look up at the Yaksha, the Traveler gives a sunny grin, "Besides, if they're going to hold a celebration like this, everyone might as well go all out!"

he's watching the scattering of ships from a distance as they make their way into the harbor. the humans are always so busy, this time of year.

"i never understood why they always need to bring so much for lantern rite." the adeptus' brow furrows. he looks down at his feet, grumpily toes a pebble around in the dirt there.

"it'll be discarded trash at the bottom of the harbor, half the time."

He can discern that the stranger is at least telling the truth on that front - because if he'd wanted Kazuha dead, the samurai is certain that this encounter would have already resulted in blood being drawn. Still, that fact isn't enough to keep the swordsman there - not when his only chance to get out of Inazuma and escape both the Vision Hunt Decree and the death penalty that likely awaits him should he be captured is so close. Whatever this man wants, whatever he intends, Kazuha isn't waiting.

As their weapons trade blows for several moments, Kazuha misses the hand that snaps out to grab hold of his wrist - another non-lethal means of keeping him there. For a beat or two, crimson eyes dart down to consider the gloved hand that's trying to hold him in place, options swiftly running through his mind like birds seeking to escape an oncoming storm. In another instance, Kazuha likely would have been happy to, at the very least, hear the other man speak - to listen before he made any decisions regarding his next move. He hasn't that luxury right now though.

Which is why, seconds later, there's anemo gathering at his feet and his blade is swinging once more - this time, towards the wrist that's stopping him from fleeing. Either this man will let him go before the sword meets its target, or he'll lose his arm. The outcome will largely depend on the other's reflexes, as well as what's more important to him. Regardless, he intends to use his windborne abilities to put some distance between them and, effectively, give an answer that's far clearer than any verbal response could ever be.

He's getting out of here, even if it kills him.

CRAP -- he should have anticipated resistance. Childe is no stranger to conflict and having the upper ground, but it seems as though he'd blundered in underestimating the samurai. That damn sword is awfully close to cutting into his skin. Swearing under his breath, Childe jumps back, though he keeps a sharp gaze on the man before him, ready to spring to action should he try to flee the second contact was broken.

"Nor am I trying to kill you," Childe mutters. He's not standing around to wait for something to happen though. He'd given this man a chance, and through a blunder, Childe had lost his foothold. He's rushing back toward the samurai, using his vision to craft a staff made purely out of hydro. The craftmanship is too rushed and sloppy for it to do any real damage, but the hydro is solid enough to swing a couple of hits and lower the man's own guard a little. Childe swings once, twice, before lunging close enough to grab him again with his hand.

Should he knock him out right now? Or see if he can't talk reason into the Inazuman man? Neither option is exactly optimal. One involves hurting someone who's already panicked. The other option involves a delay and a distraction neither of them can afford. there's already too much of a ruckus right here, any more activity and they're going to earn themselves an audience.

"Come with me," Childe says, more sternly. "I can't let you leave right now." His grip on the man's arm tightens, showing how strong Childe also is. He's not going to leave without another altercation. But regardless of the outcome, someone is going to end up on the ground. It's not orders he's carrying out, but his own whims. He's not about to let his colleagues get the upper hand on him this time. His humilation with La Signora is still fresh in his mind, and it's part of what is currently driving him.

Childe can already imagine the look on her face when she realizes he outsmarted her.

"You can either come with me willingly, or I'll drag you by force. Your choice."

The last few days have been a blur for Kazuha, with everything melding together after his encounter with the Raiden Shogun. Part of him still hopes that it's all a bad dream that he'll, eventually, wake up from, but thus far... he hasn't been so fortuitous. Instead, the image of his dearest friend being struck down in front of him replays over and over in his head, and his hand aches with burns that have hardly had the time to heal. He's used to constantly being on the move, but being branded as a criminal... well, that's made his wanderings far more complicated.

He shouldn't have to worry about that for much longer though - not if this offer for safe passage gets him out of Inazuma. Staying here is out of the question - eventually, his luck will run out, and the Shogun's men will catch up to him. He needs to get out of here sooner rather than later, which is what drives Kazuha down towards Ritou's docks late in the night, a grass-woven kasa drawn down to help obscure his face. He needs to move quickly and find the contact that he's meant to meet before someone else notices him, and yet another fight breaks out as a result.

Fate, it seems, has no intention of making this easy for him though. As an arm winds around his waist and a hand presses against his mouth, a pool of dread settles in Kazuha's stomach, shoulders stiffening. No - he can't let himself be caught. Not when he's so close to freedom, so close to leaving Inazuma behind him! Thankfully, the stranger has made one mistake in trying to retrain the ronin.

He's left Kazuha's arms free. In a flash, the samurai's hand grabs for the pommel of his sword, snapping it free from the sheath as he twists himself in the taller man's grasp so that he might take a swipe at him. He has no desire to spill more blood than he already has in the midst of his escape, but if this stranger forces his hand, then the samurai certainly will. Kazuha hopes that it won't come to that, however.

"That's exactly what I'll be doing, actually," the samurai murmurs, feeling his pulse racing beneath his skin, "and while I'd hoped to avoid another fight, I won't hesitate if you insist on getting in my way, stranger."

Though it's strange - this man appears to be a foreigner. Why, exactly, would he have any reason to stop Kazuha? The ronin hasn't a clue, but he's not going to waste the precious time that he has worrying about details right now.

"Please stand down - I don't want to kill you."

The nation is abuzz with gossip. Childe is caught up on most of it, the remaining problem seems to be the person in question. He knows of other harbingers that are set to arrive shortly, and Childe wants to be one of the first people on the case, though without actually being noticed. They'd think he was intruding on their mission.

Which is why Childe is now scouring the island, keeping out of sight of most other people. Though, according to his own small group of fatui soldiers, the person Childe is looking for is headed right for the docks, set to leave Inazuma. Can't have that, now.

Good thing it's night. This gives Childe room to stay within the shadows as he makes his way to Ritou, hoping to catch this person completely off guard. Childe isn't even sure why he wants this man. It's not great intentions, he knows that much.

The young man isn't hard to spot, either. Childe doesn't often see wandering samurai with getup quite like that, even though it appears the man is trying to hide his identity. Maybe it's the bandages around his hand that give it away for Childe. Still, he's able to slink around, grabbing the man before he can take another step.

"Don't scream," Childe whispers in his ear. He considers tying him up, but that would take too long. He settles for wrapping a firm arm around his torso to hold him in place. The other hand is clamped over the man's mouth. "You're not going to be leaving Inazuma for awhile. Sorry friend."
