i hate it when i cant even write a poem about something because its too obvious. like in the airbnb i was at i guess it used to be a kids room cause you could see the imprint of one little glow in the dark star that had been missed and painted over in landlord white. like that's a poem already what's the point

During a lecture on epic poetry like the Mahābhārata and Iliad in my first year of college, my professor said, “When the whole world dies, even when brick and mortar is destroyed, memory survives. It survives and lives on in generations to come. And literature carries that memory. All your geography, your economics, your psychology, they’re all based on the memory of man, passed down generations after generations. These epic poems and literature we are studying right now is to remind us that we too will be memories one day. And therefore, let us be good memories” and I think a piece of this lecture will live on in me wherever I go.

man imagine posting this shit under a lesbian’s autobiography knowing that your review is A) one of few one star reviews B) will contribute in preventing people from reading it. this makes me dread publishing shit

#on one hand a review IS going to be subjective #sometimes you read a book and you slowly realize that you are not the target audience at all/you can't relate to it at all #and that naturally makes the reading experience worse for you of course #but if that's all you're basing your review of a book on....i mean.... #it can be good to take a step back and try to look at the book from another perspective #or “how it should be read in an ideal world” perhaps #but yeah reading a book that clearly has SOMETHING to do with love and then rating it 1 star because “i can't relate to love” is.... #i mean what did you expect
