when he first arrived here it was hard to figure out where to stop. but given enough time, and his classes. he's learned how to estimate just as he did in the deep sea. floyd was a very large individual, much bigger than him. if kai had to take a guess right this moment-- he'd say the eel has about 8 quarts. he could probably give up another half and be fine. two would leave him lightheaded, but a sit down and some snacks and he'd live.

kai came to nrc as a "transfer student" from the abyss. initially, he kept his nature as a mer secret, but it didn't last very long. as an incident led to him changing to his mer form and latching to a student in a fit of hunger. after his punishment, crowley tasked sam with finding ( or making ) a substitute for blood. one which kai can be seen drinking on a regular basis. despite having this, he does ask to drink from his fellow classmates from time to time...

he's quite care - free, laid back, and a bit of a flirt( though he usually doesn't mean it haha ). and even though he seems flighty and unserious. deep down, he's intensely loyal to those who he's grown close to. and will happily risk his life to protect the few connections he manages to form. kai is intimately familiar with loneliness, being from the abyss-- so those he forms bonds with are immeasurably valuable to him.

kai comes from a place only known as the abyss. a dark world, with no light, and no warmth. full of strange animals, and monsters only heard of in myth. it is, essentially the deep sea. it begins at the bathypelagic zone, the layer of the ocean also referred to as the midnight zone. kaito however, was born in the abyssopelagic zone-- and it took him a great deal of time to adjust enough to travel further above until he finally reached the surface.

any mer born as far down as this, will live a fairly solitary life. with a small handful of exceptions of course. kaito was born, and subsequently abandoned- just like his siblings. infernalis mer are expected to survive on their own from the start. and many of them die within the first handful of weeks. despite all the odds, kaito managed to live to adult-hood. or...what he assumes it is. time in the abyss is absent, and every day is a repeat of the last. there are no birthdays, no holidays- though some of them have small celebrations to commemorate a period of importance. such as kai, who celebrated the first sea serpent he killed, as well as his arrival on land.

most infernalis mer are content to stay in the abyss. very few have the tenacity, and strength to travel above. and sometimes, when they try, the change in pressure and temperature can actually kill them. due to them being almost exclusively found at these depths, very little is know about them.

all infernalis have bioluminescence, and are vampiric in nature. they also have strong resistances to poisons / toxins, and immunity to the cold.

The other's question is met with a few blinks of surprise, followed by a slight twitch of an ear. Of course, he couldn't really blame them for assuming that Craig was lost. With his RSA uniform in full view, he surely stuck out like a sore thumb.

" I'm not-- well, I might be a little lost.... " he admits, trying his best not to stare at the other student's protruding fangs. " I'm looking for the Diasomnia dorm. I'm here to visit a... Friend of mine. "

i finally got it!!

SIGNATURE SPELL: DANSE MACABRE

kaito can, with the use of his UM-- control another person. by manipulating the blood in their body. the only requirement, is that he bites them first. so long as he has bitten them once, his magic will work with 100% effectiveness. it is very similar to blood bending, as seen in ATLA. the subject is completely aware of what's happening, and can still speak. but otherwise, their body is entirely under kaito's control. the movements disjointed and strange. some who are physically strong can fight it. but it's painful to do so, and can lead to injury.

he really does not use this spell often. as due to it's power, it can leave him exhausted. the more people he controls, the more drained he becomes. and unbeknownst to him-- the more blot he accrues. controlling enough people at the same time can lead to him having a full blown OB episode lmao. and tbh, i don't even want to think about that hfgksjdhfgkjhg.

fortunately, kai is a very easy going person, very laid back. there really is no reason to use his UM without being pressured to do so. he isn't offended easily, and doesn't really start fights or conflicts intentionally. the only only times he ever used this spell were at home, in the abyss. to protect himself, and kill sea serpents that thought to make a meal of him.

i think the most dangerous aspect of this, is the fact no one knows what his signature spell is. he doesn't talk about it, doesn't use it. in fact, most anyone is convinced kai doesn't have one. he's already got a multitude of talents, and strengths. plenty of other things that makes him quite strong.
