I feel like Kyouka and Akutagawa are actually incredibly similar and would get along extremely well if not for the circumstances. I mean, they think so much alike! In Dead Apple you would figure Kyouka still hated Akutagawa yet when he went “I'll go kill Dazai-san” she was just like. yeah I'll tag along. Not to mention how Akutagawa literally can't deliver two lines to Kyouka without praising her / showing that he's proud of her? He's always like “Sentenced to death? Nothing of the sort. You've accomplished your mission.” (chapter 9) “You're coming home” (chapter 9) *Smiles somewhat proudly at Kyouka when she points a gun at him* (chapter 11) “Let me reward your hard work with a painless death” (chapter 11) *Unashamedly recognizes Kyouka is stronger than him, and that she could take him down if she wanted to* (Dead Apple) “At last after all this time a foe with some real backbone” (chapter 49) “There was once a man who was just like you [man in question being either myself or the man I respect the most in the whole world]” (chapter 49) “Kyouka, I am glad for you.” (chapter 49). I'm not saying it's healthy, and it's definitely not what Kyouka needed, but also like. it's seriously as close to kindness and affection as Akutagawa can get and that's telling a lot.

-get really, really angry

-make others uncomfortable on accident

-don't tolerate bullshit

-can't/won't mask

-have dark interests

-have genuinely hurt others before

-have been in a psych ward before

-obsess over people

-have intrusive thoughts about hurting people

-don't really care about others much

-always choose themselves first

-have low/no empathy

I love how different forms of art are all obsessed with each other. A book tries to capture the feeling of music, a painting tries to depict a scene in a book, a song tries to paint a picture. And it's always insufficient. No single form of art can encapsulate another form of art and capture the essence of it – but it tries, and its attempts are impossibly compelling. All the forms of art are in love with each other and spend so much time trying to express what makes the other kinds of art so lovely.

There’s just something deeply disorienting about seeing Dazai act like a chaotic demigod of mischief 99% of the time, but then suddenly losing all composure the second that poisonous gas began killing the hostages in this week’s episode.

He yelled at Atsushi to stay back in a tone of voice we’d never heard before, then he psychically wrangled Kunikida away from the window, clearly afraid his partner would get himself killed. The gas could have harmed Dazai, too, if Kunikida had interfered, but I don’t think that was the point.

I think we’re just used to seeing Dazai ready for anything. I think we’re used to seeing him fight for the ADA, but not for individual people, and absolutely not in a state of panic or fear. To me, this is one of the first times we get a glimpse of how much Dazai actually cares for these two.

saying “i wouldn’t be a good parent” is a morally neutral statement and i’m sick of whenever i say it people replying “noo no you’d be a GREAT mother i know you would!!!” like… no! being a good parent requires a certain set of skills and traits and i know that i don’t have them and that’s a good thing!!! i think people should figure out if they would be good parents BEFORE having kids and maybe we’d have less shitty parents in the world! fuck!
