i just had a revelation i think??

me and a few other people were theorizing in a discord server about the egos and i had a thought. what if jack in the coma realizes what is happening with the egos and anti and is giving them more power from his mind, like the ego art weeks would be making them stronger simply by taking the attention away from anti and to the egos instead. which, in the inevitable case of somebody asking jack whyhe didn’t include anti he would say something like “who’s anti” as a way of trying to forget anti so he has no power. will it work? probably not, but atleast jack is trying his best, in this essay i will- @schmorp-mcdurgen @lunar-sharp @janiceapex <tagging the people who helped with the theory <3

I’ve been kinda wondering about this ever since Chase was announced as protagonist:

For a long while, we thought it was Jack, or that it was an ensemble cast. Now that we know that’s not necessarily true, we can fit these characters into little niches, right? I mean sure, Schneep’s whole character isn’t going to just be a doctor, surely, or Marvin’s just a magician. But you can reasonably guess and theorize a little bit where they fit in the grand scheme of things.

Okay, if that’s true then what about Jack? What would his niche be, then?

Well... how about a catalyst?

I think two things have to happen in order for Anti to exist stabilely.

1. He needs attention, puppets, fans. Someone to watch him, believe in him, want to see him exist. The more attention he gets, the more powerful he becomes. That’s why Jack begged for us to not watch during the debut Anti event. Our views, our anticipation, give him power. But there’s something else, another thing missing from the puzzle.

2. Jack has to die, or be incompasitated in some way. I think the preferred method is death, but a coma works well enough too. Or does it? (We’ll cover this in a second.)

Which leads me to the question: if he’s the catalyst, then could we have prevented his death/coma? And the answer that I’ve come to the conclusion of is...

No. We couldn’t have. For Anti to exist, Jack needs to not be walking around. But without Anti, there is no story. He is our antagonist. (Also, there have always been puppets. Anti started as a fandom concept. It was only inevitable that they’d encourage it.*)

So, he’s a catalyst. But, if that’s the case, why have we seen him “die” so many times? Why is he in a coma now? Why is Anti sick of “going in circles” if all that really has to happen is for Jack to die once and he exists? How did Jack survive Say Goodbye? How did he survive KJSE?

Timelines. We’ve been watching multiple timelines. This is what was being hinted at in Observation.

He didn’t survive Say Goodbye. He died.

He didn’t survive KJSE. He died.

In every timeline where Anti exists, Jack or some form of him probably dies. All but one:

Coma timeline.

And while I don’t know why it would be different, assuming the timeline theory is correct, it’s enough.

In order to defeat Anti, Jack probably has to wake up.

And who better than to do that than Chase? Our Everyman character. The character with no lofty goals, no powers. Only a strong loyalty to his friends and family.

He can’t do anything fancy. He’s just human. But I think he’s the Ego with the big enough Will and the big enough Heart to do it.

Chase probably seems like the weakest link to Anti, but I think he’s the opposite. He’s not a hero, but even still he might be the strongest out of all of them. And what better way to defeat a glitchy, otherworldly being than by a simple human? It’s poetic.

*(Storywise. Obviously I’m not meaning real life, but I know the lines between the Anti stuff and Jack’s normal stuff and normal fandom things can kinda blur since it’s pretty ARG-ish.)

Just Because Something Is Reblogged Doesn’t Mean It’s Canon.

Recently I was making theories with someone, but they were taking everything that Jack reblogged as fact.

Ex. Someone said “I have this theory that Chase turned into one of the other egos”. (Nothing against the person who said that, it’s a theory I looked into.)

The person I was theorizing with thought that Jack reblogged it BECAUSE the person wrote that theory under their art.

No. Just... no. That’s not why he did it. He wouldn’t give away a huge lore reveal like that. It’s the same thing as the protagonist thing recently. “Not all protagonists are heroes.” It didn’t mean that Chase was Anti or whatever, that would be way too big of a lore reveal to reveal with just a message on a blog.

Just remember, don’t overthink the little things or the hard things to find. Chances are, your theory will be super confusing and wrong if you overthink little things.

“Look at me, babydoll.”

Jameson had his eyes plastered shut, tears pouring down his face like a broken faucet. He was shaking beneath Anti’s shadow, every muscle tensed, fists clenched atop his thighs, nails digging into his palms. He was completely free of any sort of restraint, yet the terror he felt kept him stuck in the chair he found himself in in this dream. Well, perhaps nightmare would be better fitting.

“Jamie,” Anti sang, “come on, let me see those pretty blues, will you?”

Slowly Jameson opened his eyes, blinking away his tears. As soon as his gaze landed upon Anti, a breathless sob escaped his throat. He tried holding in anymore cries from coming out, but he couldn’t stop the tears. How pathetic he was.

“Don’t cry, don’t cry,” Anti said, reaching out to wipe away some of Jameson’s tears. “Are you afraid?” he asked gently, kindly.

Jameson gave two very small nods, sniffling as another wave of tears dripped down his cheeks. Anti frowned, pushing some of the hair out of the puppet’s face. He leaned down to plant a single kiss on Jameson’s forehead, and in an instant his victim found himself tied in restraints.

“Don’t worry,” he said softly, tilting his victim’s head up. Jameson’s lip began to quiver and he let out another sob, his eyes pleading one thousand wishes to be let go.

“Shhh, shh.. I’ll be gentle.”
