Why you OC so fat and sad in your art

hello! thank you for your interest here on shera and my depictions of her. i am going to assume you’re talking about my most recent piece of her here.

i’ll try to be as succinct as possible! shera is indeed a plus-sized oc! why is she that way? i don’t have a reasoning besides that i personally relate to that body type and am happy to convey more plus-sized representation in oc’s and fanfic.

shera is a very sad girl overall, she is referred to as a banshee which are melancholic, full of sorrow, etc. hopefully i will be able to draw her happy soon, but banshee’s lament (the fic she is in) is not a happy story.

Honestly? My main piece of advice for writing well-rounded characters is to make them a little bit lame. No real living person is 100% cool and suave 100% of the time. Everyone's a little awkward sometimes, or gets too excited about something goofy, or has a silly fear, or laughs about stupid things. Being a bit of a loser is an incurable part of the human condition. Utilize that in your writing.
