NEW COMMON DEFLECTION PROBLEMS "WATERTIGHT" ALBUM OUT SOON

Well well. Not bad news at all. Common Deflection Problems are close to finish their new album. Recorded and mastered at Miranada Studio's (Barcelona) it will be out first in digital format.

This piece represent a consistent change from "We all play synth", in conformity with the "never-set-the-ass-in-one-place-for-more-than-couple-of-months" band's philosophy. And this is what we like most: the ability to go ahead, innovate while keeping them own recognizable roots.

So, we suggest to listen to it as soon as it'll be out.

IO MONADE STANCA + COMMON DEFLECTION PROBLEMS + NITCH // BCN 28/09/13

Yes, we're back. A long summer was necessary to recover some of the massive amount of energies we've put into action during last season. Just to refresh, we put up loads of gigs, hosting the likes of Barberos, Silent Front, Action Beat, Dispo, Ultrazook, Jack Dupon, Familea Miranda, Plasma Expander, CRTVTR, Reptilian Mambo, Chromb, Sec, Hands up who wants to die, Ten Past Seven, Wann, Cuzcos, Kill kill, dUASsEMIcOLCHEIASiNVERTIDAS, Alberto Piccinni, ( and many more ), we organized two festivals, HF Alldayer and HF Festival 2013, took part to Gutter Fest, best indipendent labels' meeting in town, and last but not least we got to be interviewed on Radio Contrabanda and TV3.         Yeah, a well-intense year indeed. And more stuff is to come, more and more.  We'll start this new season off with a night dedicated to pure sounds, three essential trios will be there to rock you and remind us who we are.

  IO MONADE STANCA  

Straight from Cuneo (home of Marlene Kuntz, NdR.), the three guys are carrying with them quite a portfolio, along with being some of Africatape's favourites. They started in 2008 mixing up their very peculiar blend of ethereal voices, cracked riffs, jazzy chords, nice fat and high-ended bass lines and solid drumming, perfectly framed and intensely structured, in a flauvored '90s sauce. Their last work "Three Angles" ( out for A Tent Rever Du Roi, Human Feather, New Sonic Records, WhosBrain, Canalese*Noise, Goat Man, Onlyfuckingnoise) is the culmination of their sound. Narrative and ironic, will blow you away with its sudden changes and its fun actitude. No wonder it's being succesfully presented throughout Europe during their current extensive tour.   COMMON DEFLECTION PROBLEMS

 The most neurotic trio in BCN, just back from their performance in several Open Air Festivals in town, is back on track, and along with this, they'll release a new record at the end of October and tour Spain + France + Belgium (where they'll be hosted @ ScratchandSnuffest, along with the Ex and Mombu), in November. More info will come soon about it. Don't you know yet what they sound like ? Make it jazzy, angular and broken-hearted math rock, a groove-fuelled and hard-as-fuck sequence of hits, scratches and heavy riffs, sprinkled here and there with few and desperate words.  Still confused ? NITCH

 The heroes of new underground in BCN. Since their early days the combo decidedly stepped away from the sinthy-pop culture surrounding them and chose a dimension that's cleared out of unnecessary special effects and brought back to a genuine rush of distorted energy. Call it post rock, emo-core or shoegaze, what really matters is that they'll overwhelm you with their fuzzy guitars, soulful lyrics, great rhythm section and pure passion. They´re also just back from a Spanish mini-tour that touched most of the sacred lands of alternative in Spain. Plus they've been out twice for Boston Pizza Records.  It all leads to figure out that there's no doubt they'll be big.

HUMAN FEATHER 2013 FESTIVAL

Here we are again : another long year has gone, and at Human Feather we´ve been swearing, struggling, doing the utmost to put up great shows and always loved what we were doing and whoever was following it.  So show after show, the time led us to the summer, warm old enemy of the rock, the summer that came back to undress Barcelona and make it fussy and sexy. It's time for us get our heads out of the venues, and bring the noise in broad daylight. An Open Air festival to shake the road, two days, seven bands, a DJ duo, and a lot more to share. ETERMORTIFERA

 The idea behind Etermortifera is intriguing and delicate. Is the tight relation between a single sound (micro) and the musical structure it makes up and ends up belonging to (macro). Is the sensitive feel of a whole change by playing around with simple details, with some gently vibrating strings, some pulsating synths, few spectral voices, and a whole arsenal of sounding junk.

   AGAINST THE EYE 

 “The soundtrack of the upcoming global rEvolution”. This is how those five explosive individuals introduce themselves to the world, mixing up their genuine rage, along with their whole generation’s one, in a blend of Crossover, Trash, Doom, Death. Their mission: unleashing their concerns over how wrong the world goes, sounding metal, acting punk, but without leaving melodies behind. And always keeping in mind that a change is possible

    NITCH

Nitch are the project that BCN was missing. Despite being quite young, they’ve been around for a while, loving that ‘90s sound, promoting themselves within the DIY circuit. However thanks to nowadays technology they´ve already achieved two releases, a Spanish tour and they’re now working on a EU one. This all slightly past the age of 20 . They sound rough, yet sweet, somewhere between punk, grunge, post-rock, shoegaze, but with a whole batch of their own personality. Very tasty.

FAMILEA MIRANDA

 Most fascinating story in town . Three friends from Chile moved over to Barcelona back in 2000, and never stopped running since. The battleship has travelled for 13 years, nearly 400 gigs, 8 between records and compilations, few tours in Chile and EU, some line-up change, and never lost the plot on their sound : a constantly evolving range of rock, from ‘proto’ to ‘post’, from ‘soft’ to ‘hard’, widely enriched of their own touch, who gave them a big name in BCN’s underground scene.

  DJ EightBitRate

Another great story comes from EightBitRate, two DJs and a VJ (Alfa, Beta and Gamma) who started putting up disco-8bit-acid colors-videgames based parties in Napoles, back in 2003.  Shortly after they found themselves opening for people like Trentemoller, Groove Armada, Chicken Lips, etc. Few years later, in 2007, they moved on to London where they played regularly in all main clubs in town (Fabric, Ministry of Sound, Pacha, Club 54, etc.) prior to become resident at Notting Hill Arts Club. Few more years and the only one left in London is Alfa while Gamma is VJing for major events in Italy (Chemical Brothers, Tiesto, Luciano, Francois K.) and Beta is following up his teaching career. They’ll meet again now, in Barcelona, to celebrate 10 years of activity and shake the ground with their pumping bass. They’ll play both on Friday and Saturday

Definitely one of our favourite solo acts, Zozobra is a pure weirdo. Someone whose humour and paranoia melt and generate a flow of spontaneous, genuine, insisting vibes, made up of far voices, everyday noises, struggling chords, and all sorts of mantras that a daydreamer like him can layer up. Hypnotizing.

COMMON DEFLECTION PROBLEMS

Three young men need to vomit out as much as possible in a short and frantic rush of riffs and chords straight to your face. Someone calls it ‘Math-core’, someone else ‘some kind of random stuff that sounds like a scratched record, jumping from part to part as a psycho relentlessly flicking through his TV´s channels’. Like it or not, CPD’s music is intense, loud, and instinctive, even though you can notice a whole lot of meticulous work behind it.

CRTVTR ( Cartavetro )

From Genoa, Italy, CRTVTR key is a very different sound from what you can hear around, in the scene. Despite their distorted, angry roots, they tend to deliver sort of a fine rounded British sound, emotional, intense and genuine, driven by full rich vocal effects and some synthetized shouts here and there. And still fuzz-oriented. A very enjoyable mix that opened these guys many doors. Among them, having Mike Watt ( from Minutemen, Stooges, etc. ) to to take part to their record in more than an occasion, and touring China recently. There must be a reason for that, huh ?

Human Feather at the GUTTER FEST

We're really glad to taking part at the fourthcoming GUTTER FEST: 10th and 11st of May at HANGAR.

This is a festival where hundreds of rad realities come together: labels, illustrators, publishers, performances, workshops, fanzines, graphic designer and of course bands bands bands.

It would be great to share 2 days with those amazing people, learning new things, sharing beers, know each other by being part of a well-looking event.

Started in 2004 in the city of roundabouts, and massively, intensely toured UK and EU several times, gaining themselves a top seat in the underground scene. They just don´t belong to this planet. Three young men decided once to put white lycra suits on and to create a unique blend of waves and percussions, pushing their set-up of two-drumkits-and-a-synth far beyond the known universe. The ´wondering trio’ began in Naples, Italy close to ten years ago, moved to London and settled in Barcelona in 2011,  and so has their sound kept changing along, having hit stoner, pop-rock, noise and jazz-core. It now stands on an edgy, urgent and pounding math-core, fuelled by aggressive riffs and some pointless vocals, hence presenting a constant surprise to the listener, who´ll never be able to dance on this anyway.

If ever a band could be considered a ´classic’ in this genre, Silent Front would probably be the best candidate for that. 10 years, over 500 gigs, about 25 tours, 7 releases, and never lost a gram of their intensity, constantly firing off those groundbreaking power chords and desperate vocals. Structurally more regular than their fellow avant-garders (they often share stages with Nitkowski, Shapes, Death Pedals, OBE, It often takes a war, etc.), their post-hard-core is genuine, straightforward, soulful and heavy as fuck. That’s probably what makes them a absolute reference within the scene.

"Here it comes, Tramontane" LP, CRTVTR

New record out for the trio from Genova, Italy, hero in 2009 of “We need time” EP ( Marsiglia Records, Anomolo, Tesla Dischi, Brigadisco, Taxi Driver) and recently back from touring China. “Here it comes, tramontane” LP keeps the promises of their previous work, delivering a special load of energy, in their very genuine way. British-sounding guitars on the ride, an ever-pounding rhythm section (Jo stimamiglio and Fabio Patrone), and a consistent amount of interesting vocal overdubs (that they do entirely live through an infernal device that Cesare Pezzoni handles along) make it a catchy, emotional, yet powerful listening.

 Here again, Mike Watt (ex MinuteMen, Stooges) graced the trio´s sound, adding one of his deep and soulful storytelling to “The Rental”. Same happened in ‘We need time EP’, which consolidates is the relation between the artist and the local DIY scene.

Make abrasive noise-rock which has been described as "all angles and noise, edges and respite, razor riffs, visceral vocals, heinous hooks, yet on the face of it, as smooth as a mirror, as sheer as cliff-face", "Big'N and enablers in a blender" and "socially aware slab punk with constant discordant meanderings". Sounds music for our ears.
