Conclusion
Each step of the CCA has been a learning experience for myself. I had never previously worked on such assignments where I’m able to make an annotated bibliography and analyze careers so heavily with A, P, and S. I have been able to feel so connected with my career and I enjoyed working on analyzing the career and looking at new articles with different perspectives and then follow through all the way to creating my own survey. This course gave me a chance to relate to 3 social sciences, psychology, sociology, and anthropology, to everyday problems and situations. Through nursing, I was able to analyze how nurses act in different contexts and I could see how the views of anthropology and psychology changed over time in my work.
Nursing is a dynamic profession requiring critical and reflective thinking based on current scientific rationale, as well as humanistic perspectives. Nursing can be an intense career that needs a clear understanding of sociology, anthropology, and psychology.
I greatly enjoyed these assignments and now I will be able to apply APS in future works and be more sure of the career I am going into!

CCA Step 4
CCA Step 4 Annotated Bibliography
The topic of this article is on the association between the symptoms of milk protein allergy (MPA). The consumption of cow’s milk proteins has been widely documented in various presentations, but the theory that infants can present with a reaction to cow’s milk protein consumed from their mothers’ breast milk remains controversial.
Shockingly, I adored this journal article and I had a glimpse of what my university life will be like once I go into medical sciences. I found it interesting and similar to what we do in class, especially the last CCA. It gave me an idea of the level of work and information we will be taking in when on the job and what I need to know when dealing with helping women with breastfeeding and newborn issues as a child. To do an annotated bibliography I had to practice the research skills established in CCA Step 2. We used the same method and had to use the information learned from our past lessons (examples include; information from childhood development stages, case studies, social science inquiry studies, and anecdotal vs empirical experiments ) to determine if the source was originally being reliable such as her use of diction and how she treats milk protein allergy symptoms and studies to help society.
Lastly, the annotated bibliography has helped me work towards what it is like to be a nurse based on the case study of human biological and physiological characteristics evolving, the mental characteristics/attitude towards the author, and the study of development and structure in society. Also known as anthropology, psychology, and sociology affects nursing in the following journal.

CCA Step 3
HSP3U1 APS Step 3 Social Science Observation Field Research – Qualitative Data Gathering
This assignment was a chance for me to learn how researchers in psychology, sociology, and anthropology may function and find information. It gave me a glimpse of the conclusions, subjects and more about the process of collecting information. This connects primarily to the sociological concepts in the course. The point in this assignment was to analyze our peers point of view on what may be our future career. To find those perceptions I needed to think of all aspects of nursing such as pay, importance in society, who I’m researching and if the results may be biased, and if everyone is familiar with the career…  etc.
My experience with this project was very stressful.
Creating 10 questions while being able to remain impartial when analyzing and sharing the results in order to give a good idea of what nursing really will be like in our society. Next, I had to understand the importance of range-of-response statements and how it may put real-life situations in front of someone to make a clear decision/opinion. It was very annoying having to learn about the various biases against my current career but, It gave me a chance to learn about our societies knowledge of this career that even after researching, I’m unaware of.
My conclusions:
My hypothesis of York Mills students looking down on nurses was correct, but from this survey, the majority of students are able to admit that nursing is still a needed career in society. Many YM students are unable to express why nursing is a needed career! They do understand from my first range-of-response question that they are more accessible from doctors which is why over 95% of students chose nurses for menial tasks rather than doctors. In conclusion, many students shared their overall thoughts explaining in detail how they think it is an extremely valuable career necessary to run hospitals and more but are very time-consuming and unknown throughout my peers.
Please do check out the perceptions on Nursing survey here:
Nurses are an important part of our daily health and play a key role in helping us in emergency situations. Please help up collect information in order to effectively see the public's view on this career.

CCA Step 2
This article relates to a nurse’s role in our society financially and how New York city has been discriminating nurses, removing them from their “physically taxing” list but is now admitting to their mistakes.

CCA Step 2
APS in the News as our second CCA gave me ideas of the dangers in my career. Articles that I looked at were the following
Barnes, T. (2018, August 28). Independent. Nurse Who Protected Patients from Knife-wielding Man in A&E Insists She Was Just Doing Her Job. Retrieved October 22, 2018, from https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/leicester-royal-infirmary-knife-attack-nurse-video-just-doing-job-yusuf-aka-latest-jailed-a8511591.html
and
Pager, T. (2018, July 18). New York Times. City Settles With Nurses On ‘Physically Taxing’ Jobs. Retrieved October 22, 2018, from https://www.nytimes.com/2018/07/18/nyregion/nurses-sex-discrimination-settlment-nyc.html?rref=collection%2Ftimestopic%2FNursing%20and%20Nurses
These two articles allowed me to focus on different aspects of my career such as the pay, affecting my lifestyle, and anxiety and how close I am to different parts of society. In the first article, I applied crime hotspots, functionalism, participant observation, anecdotal examples, the origin of human aggression, and the Warrior Gene. In the next article, I was able to examine case studies, anecdotes made by professionals in law, the objectification of women, utilitarianism, and factors of conflict theory. These situations displayed many characteristics of how on-the-job nurses deal with different applications of anthropology, sociology, and psychology than just how to care for patients coming in.
The importance of this was not only examining the article but checking the reliability and relevance in nursing news. These articles stood out to me but overall were very difficult to find and check their reliability. Most articles tend to stay bias towards nurses or try to discriminate against them because of their comparisons to doctors. I had to learn to search specifically in databases; focusing on the time and date affecting what was being written and directing my searches towards more words than just “nurse”. When filling out the reliability, I checked for emotionally charged words, opinions on the situation that affect any facts, use of quotations… etc. I found that these articles displayed that nurses do not just deal with patients but the rest of society using psychology according to anthropology. Overall, this reliability and relevance learning activity helped me understand that not all careers are so straight forward and I would have to pay attention to all parts of the job and prepare myself accordingly for where and when I wanted to work.

CCA Step 1
Our first step of the course culminating assignment is choosing a career personal to me, and tying it to the subjects learned in our first lessons of APS.
Throughout the first unit of the course, I have been studying the social sciences’ three different approaches to the issue of humanness. With this, I thought to do one of my career options, an emergency room nurse. Nursing is a dynamic profession requiring critical and reflective thinking based on current scientific rationale, as well as humanistic perspectives.
All three aspects of APS are constantly used in a nursing career. In Sociology, nurses often use micro-expressions to communicate with their peers and help their patients. In anthropology, they have an understanding of cultural contexts that affect clients, families, and communities according to their geological location. Lastly, in Psychology, nurses use various parts of the brain (which we studied) to work efficiently and push their limit of sleep and time to always make sound decisions. Nursing is constantly dealing with anthropology, sociology, and psychology whether they realize it or not. What did I learn while doing this? Overall, I learned about the profession’s day to day experiences and the impact of A, P and S in nursing.
This has made me seriously consider the steps I want to take to become a nurse, like learning French to be able to communicate, work on judging and analyzing, and redesign my brain to be at my best. It also makes me more committed to why I want to choose Nursing as the sociology aspect helps me understand how nursing is such a key career to how societies function.
In conclusion, analyzing this profession and finding the similarities to what we are learning in APS today has helped me consider why nursing is a good choice and how I can best prepare for it.
