Never let this merciless world erase you!
'Why are you so determined to solve this case?" Someone had asked Tilika. It made sense for someone to ask. It didn't make sense for her to latch onto a case this hard, especially since it had only been a few months since she had joined. They probably assumed Tilika was just trying to prove herself by solving the first case she saw. That was a part of it, yes. The whole of it was her connection to the missing people. Her very own aunt and uncle.
Lalapril 4/26 Musical
Ai somnium files au! tilika and babycorn continue their journey on the mystery of where the hell babycorns parents went.
In the end Babycorn’s somnium provided the investigation with just the lead they needed.
As it turned out,  just the night before her parents went missing she had seen them talking to a person she didn’t recognize. Babycorn had been half-asleep at the time which had the effect of making her memories a little muddy.
Neither Teteo or Tilika could tell who Babycorn’s parents were talking to, just like Babycorn didn’t. That was how it worked. Or they just had lousy luck.
While Tilika was a little frustrated they couldn’t see who it was, she was relieved at the same time. Babycorn had seen the entire conversation hiding behind the door to her room. She was taught not to approach any person she didn’t know. Which apparently could even happen inside of her own home.
Still, it wasn’t like hiding prevented Babycorn and Cherrypit from getting caught in this whole mess. They all were a part of it. And of course Tilika was worried about Aleria and Lalatov too. They were her aunt and uncle. Whether they left of their own volition or were taken, it didn’t matter. Tilika was going to find them safe and sound. She had to.
Inside the car, Tilika glanced at the backseat from the car mirror. Babycorn was sleeping, her head resting on her shoulder. Cherrypit was safe at a friend’s house but Babycorn was set on not sitting around and letting Tilika look for her parents all by herself. She had practically pushed herself into the investigation by force.
Tilika had her doubts of course, considering Babycorn’s age and the places they were going but there wasn’t much she could do after Babycorn threw a rock through her car window and crawled her way inside.
‘She’s rather tenacious isn’t she? Did she get that from her parents?’ Teteo asked.
“Pretty sure. She gets that from her mom.” From all the stories Tilika’s own mom had told her of her and Aleria growing up both of them had pretty much inherited each other’s hotheaded streak.
‘I see. Then with that information I’ll be glad to predict that Aleria and Lalatov are alive and well! Wherever they are!’
Tilika laughed to herself, “I’ll be sure to tell Babycorn you said that.”
‘No!’ Teteo panicked so much that she almost popped out of Tilika’s eye socket to yell at her, “You can’t let her know I exist remember?’
“I remember.” It’s not like Teteo ever let her forget.
‘I personally don’t think it’s fair that only one of us has to remember!’
“Hey Teteo? Are we almost there? How much longer?” Tilika asked, without any other ulterior motives.
‘Don’t just change the subject! Hmph!’ Despite Teteo’s annoyance she still calculated the time of arrival. ‘We should be there in abouuuut twelve minutes or so. Five if you decide to run every red light which I should advise against.”
“Then why even give me the idea in the first place?”
The destination in question was a theater located downtown. It wasn’t used for too many big shows lately, mostly being a place where theater majors from the local college were able to hold their rehearsals and the occasional class. Tilika personally had never been there but today was different.
Because while Babycorn had not clearly seen the person her parents talked to, there was some good news. Teteo noted that she still heard the entire conversation. She and Tilika were able to hear what the person sounded like.
Albeit the words coming out of their mouth were gibberish as Babycorn hadn’t understood a single word. But, they still had a voice. And Teteo was able to compare the voice until she found a match.
A retired actress, Priscilla Genesis.
Once a renowned performer she lived out her glory days performing all around the world. By all means she was lucky to be able to keep performing until she decided she was done. Nowadays she spent her time teaching acting classes, specifically at the theater where they were headed to.
Sure Tilika had heard of the actress, mostly from glancing at magazines at the supermarket check-out, but she couldn’t come up with any reason why the Starsingers would know her. Especially on a level where she would show up to their house in the middle of the night to talk to them.
The sound of a small yawn behind her interrupted her thoughts. For now Tilika decided to let Teteo take the wheel. “Babycorn? Did you sleep well?” Some of the medication they used for the psync machine must have still been affecting her. Hopefully that was the last of the side effects.
Babycorn rubbed her eyes, getting used to the light around her. “I’m fine.” She looked around, “Are we there yet?”
“No, not yet.” Tilika paused, “We’ll be there in like ten minutes though!”
“Oh. Okay.”
Babycorn rested her head on the window. Tilika guessed that she didn’t feel like talking. Who could really blame her? At the same time however, she wished there was something she could say to make Babycorn feel just a little better.
But it was a little too late for that.
The rest of the drive to the theater all Tilika could think about was; What if she had decided to visit the house that night? Would she have also been to stop whatever happened or would she have disappeared too? The only reason she hadn’t gone was because she had slept through Babycorn’s phone call.
That was probably another reason Babycorn was a little hostile towards her.
‘I wouldn’t think like that. What happened happened and now we’re here. It’s as simple as that.’
“If you say so…” But what if it hadn’t? What if things had gone just a little different? Was there somewhere out there where something completely different happened?
‘It’s not like parallel worlds exist Tilika.’
Tumblr media
When they arrived at the theater Tilika had a surprising amount of trouble keeping Babycorn still.
The opulent look of the theater had excited Babycorn so much she almost took off running trying to see more of it. “Look! They got a popcorn machine!!” Babycorn yelled out. Sadly it wasn’t being used on that day but Babycorn was amazed by it all the same.
It made Tilika happy to see her cousin so excited about something again. ‘Teteo? Can you remind me to pass by a gas station to buy popcorn on the way back?’
‘Only if I can have some too!’
‘You don’t even eat!’
‘Caramel popcorn please!!’
As luck would have it Priscilla was at the theater that day but they would have to wait until they could question her, since her meeting was running a bit long. Her assistant had kindly offered them the chance to meet with her tomorrow but Tilika insisted on meeting her today.
‘You don’t think she’s trying to get rid of us? Is she?’
“If she is, we’re not gonna let her.” Time was quickly running out. Tilika wasn’t going to let another day just pass by without any progress. If her job wasn’t on the line she would have burst into that meeting room and dragged Priscilla out of there herself.
For now they were waiting for the meeting to end, which left them with a lot of free time to look around the theater.
‘What kind of person has a meeting at a theater? Seriously?’ Teteo commented.
Other than a few security guards and tourists there weren’t that many people around. Inside of the auditorium it was the same story, empty seats and empty aisles as far as the eye could see.
There wasn’t much any of them could do but wait until they could finally talk to Priscilla.
Unfortunately, it  looked like the allure of the theater had run its course for Babycorn and she had once again returned to her familiar quiet nature of the past few days. There wasn’t much to do but think about her parents situation when there was nothing to do.
Tilika watched as Babycorn kicked her legs back and forth, she was sitting in a seat in the front row. Meanwhile, Tilika was just resting her back, leaning on the stage itself. ‘I wish my phone still had battery left. I could have let her play one of my games on there…’ Tilika thought to herself.
‘Don’t all those games have microtransactions?’ Teteo asked. She knew this very well as all of Tilika’s transactions had to go through her first. ‘If you let Babycorn loose in one of those games I’m sure she would spend at least one-hundred dollars.’
Tilika grimaced. Teteo wasn’t just making guesses. A few years ago during her mother’s nameday party Aleria had joked about how Babycorn had spent almost eighty-dollars while playing on her phone. Clearly there was a track record there.
But if gacha games wouldn’t help in this situation, what could?
Tilika decided to walk around a bit. That’s when she noticed that the staircase up to the stage was open and free for anyone to walk up there. ‘Rest assured, I’ve checked recent incidents at this theater and it seems that the stage is open access as long as there are no rehearsals scheduled.’ Teteo explained.
There was a playful glint in Tilika’s eye. That was all she needed to hear.
Her steps grew louder as she ran onto the stage. It was a pretty strange feeling, she had never done something like this before. There were those times she had sung in front of her parents with their karaoke machine but that paled in comparison to standing on a huge stage like this.
Babycorn still hadn’t noticed that Tilika had run up here.
Tilika cupped her hands around her mouth and yelled out a hearty, “Yooooohoooo~!” She surprised herself just how loud she had sounded. “Woah.” Hopefully she hadn’t scared anyone doing that. Or gotten them in trouble. Or a third thing.
Babycorn jumped from her seat and walked towards the stage. It was pretty obvious she was trying her hardest to look annoyed but she was really curious about what Tilika was up there for.  “What are you doing? How’d you get up there?” She hopped up and down as high as she could to see if she could reach the stage like that.
When it was clear she couldn't, she stomped her foot down in frustration.
Tilika was about to go back down the stairs to lead Babycorn up to the stage when Babycorn’s voice stopped her.
“Are you supposed to be up there?”
“Well, no.” Tilika looked around, “But It’s okay I read the security guard’s mind and they said it was fine!”
“Y-You can’t read minds!” That had to be a lie! It just had to! Babycorn had been thinking of so many names to make fun of Tilika with, it would be a bummer if she knew them before Babycorn used them! “...Can you?”
‘I’d like to remind you that I actually can’t read minds. Choose your next words carefully.’
Tilika winked, “Guess we’ll find out”
‘I told you to choose carefully!!’
Babycorn had no idea what her cousin was going on about. “You’re weird…” Wasn’t Tilika supposed to be a grown-up or something? “If you go to jail I’m not gonna help you! And neither will Cherry!” Anyone would be lucky to have Cherrypit help chew their way to freedom.
Tilika walked down the steps to the stage and held her hand out to Babycorn. “I promise I’m not going to get us in trouble.” The two made their way up to the stage together. The steps were a little steep so Tilika made sure to hold onto Babycorn’s hand tightly. “I won’t let anything happen to you or Cherry. Promise.”
‘Teteo promises too.’
Teteo sniffled, ‘It’s true I do promiseee!’
Once Babycorn stepped foot on the stage her eyes became wide as she looked all around her. Her mouth was wide open as she kept walking forward, letting Tilika’s hand go. It looked so much bigger than it had from below.
Or maybe she was just small? It didn’t really matter.
Babycorn turned to face the empty seats in front. There were so many people. SO many that could be sitting there and watching her.
A memory in her head began to resurface.
When she was even smaller she used to perform for her mama and papa all the time. Whether it was singing, dancing or even pretending she was a weather reporter, Babycorn just loved doing it but only for her parents. That was until they got too busy to play with her anymore.
Before they started…
“Hey?” Tilika's voice cut through to Babycorn. When she looked up at her cousin she looked worried. “Babycorn are you okay?”
Why would she ask that? Babycorn raised her hands up to her face and felt something wet. In a stroke of horrible luck, she had been crying. She tried to wipe her tears away as fast as she could but it was too little too late. “I’m fine!” Babycorn shouted, crossing her arms and looking away.
Tilika decided to believe her, despite the clear evidence.
She walked forward and took a seat on the edge of the stage. “That lady sure is taking her sweet time, huh?”
“I think she should hurry up! We don’t have all day!” Babycorn huffed.
“You and me both…”
Tilika looked down at the empty seats and a thought crossed her mind. “You know, this place reminds me of the time I had to sing in a class performance when I was around your age.” Generously you could call it a performance but really it was just a bunch of kids seeing who could remember the words to the song they were assigned to sing.
A pair of small steps came up from behind Tilika. “Class performance? Do you mean like for mother’s day?” Babycorn asked.
“Oh yeah! That’s the one I was talking about!”
Babycorn groaned, the less she heard about that stupid event the better.
“When we sang it was our turn to sing, it was a total disaster!” Contrary to her words Tilika was laughing loudly, almost concerningly so. “I got really nervous in front of all those people that I started crying and ran all the way into the audience to find my mom! Of course I stopped crying once I found her but no one wanted to sing after I had just balled my eyes out.”
“Were they mad at you?” Babycorn got ready to hear the worst.
But the worst never came. Tilika smiled and shook her head, “No. I don’t think so and even if they were it doesn’t really matter to me. Bad moments are just that, moments. They don’t last forever.”
Babycorn silently sat down next to Tilika. “Good! Cause if those kids were mean to you I would have beat em’ up!” She gave the air in front of her a good ol’ two punch combo. “Like this! Shu-shu-ha!!”
‘Cute…’ Teteo wanted to cry.
“I don’t doubt that but I can take care of myself too you know.” Tilika pet her head, ruffling some of her hair up. “And I’m here to take care of you and Cherry too.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
At that exact moment Tilika had an idea and Teteo instantly agreed with her idea. Tilika jumped to her feet, her eyes shimmering. “How about this? Why don’t we do a little performance here together?” Tilika had a bunch of song lyrics in her head. Surely she knew at least one song that Babycorn also knew.
“R-Right here?!” Babycorn stood up and took several steps back. “C-C-Can we do s-something like that?!”
“There’s no rules saying we can’t.” Something Tilika knew thanks to Teteo’s quick search of the guidelines. “Come on it’ll be fun I promise!”
Babycorn believed her. It would probably be fun but…
“What if someone sees…?” Her stage fright had been the thing that ruined her mother’s day song in the first place.
Except instead of running towards her mother Babycorn had run off entirely, the entire event had to be canceled because she went missing. Everyone had told her it was okay but her classmates had all called her a baby for it. And they were right.
“Well then it’s perfect!” Tilika ran to the edge of the stage and turned back around with a twirl. “There’s no one here but you and me! So now is a better chance than any to go all out!” She ran back towards Babycorn and reached down for her hand. “I’ll be here with you no matter what you decide to do. So don’t feel like you have to do this. Okay?”
Babycorn nodded. “Okay…”
“Either way! If you don’t dance I’ll still put on a show for you!” Tilika did an incredibly outdated dance move that Babycorn didn’t recognize but she knew only old people danced like that. Even Teteo agreed that this was too much.
Babycorn burst out laughing. “Tili Tili stoooop! You’re so old!!”
She thought for a moment, looking out in the audience. Though a majority of the seats were empty her imagination managed to fill in two of them. Right there in the front row were her mama and papa, holding Cherrypit in their arms.
They cheered her on and told her to do her best.
Babycorn took a deep breath, and let it out.
“Okay! Start the music!”

⭐⭐Sweet Magic~!⭐⭐
Babycorn nervously turned up the flame of the stove. As her frying pan got hotter, her anxiety grew. A little voice in her head kept telling her that now wasn't the right time to grab the food with her hands. "It's too hot for that! You'll burn your tongue!" The voice told her. The voice also sounded suspiciously like her friend Lunya. "...But it's so yummy loooking!!" Babycorn whined. "You can wait a few minutes!" The Lunya in her head reminded her. Before it could say anything else, Babycorn grabbed the fried egg and stuffed it in her mouth. "OWIE!!!!!!!" Babycorn yelled and spit the egg back onto the frying pan. Lunya, who had actually been standing behind Babycorn the whole time and was NOT a voice in Babycorn's head, could do nothing but shake her head.
Lalapril 4/25 Gratitude with @windupnamazu 's Lunya lanya
welcome to coooking with babycorn!!!!!! today we're gonna be cooking!! cookies!!! or is that baking? same thing! with special guest warrior of light lunya lanya!!! yipppeee!!!!
“Okay I think I got everything…” With one last look at the ingredients balanced precariously on Cherrypit’s head Babycorn carefully opened the door to her room and let her brother waddle out.
Last time they had done this she had placed one too many things on him and that resulted in the stack hitting the top of the door and tumbling down on top of her.
She would have liked to avoid that happening again.
As soon as Cherrypit waddled his way out into the hallway Babycorn let out a small cheer. Cherrypit lifted his arms up and also let out a small “Yippee!” All that was left for them to do now was make it to the kitchen! That would be as easy as flipping over a fried egg!
Which of course always had to land directly onto her head. There was absolutely no other way that was done of course!
“Follow me Cherry!” Babycorn happily sang, as she skipped on ahead towards their destination. Cherrypit ran in place for a little bit before taking off right after her. He babbled something excitedly in his little baby language, probably something about how hungry he was.
They hadn’t eaten since breakfast and that was a whole fifteen minutes ago!
Yesterday, in a spur of the moment sort of thing, Babycorn decided that she would make cookies for everyone to eat after dinner. It took her a minute to decide what kind of cookies she would make but eventually Cherrypit had the great idea of making lemon cookies.
Initially he had suggested chocolate-chip but after learning he would have to share them, Cherrypit quickly changed his mind.
Those lessons about sharing things with other people were still having a little trouble sticking to him sometimes.
So lemon cookies it was! Honestly Babycorn didn’t even know cookies came in lemon flavors but it was silly of her to think otherwise. There were so many flavors out there in the world that cookies could come in any flavor! Maybe somewhere out in the world there was a cooking that tastes like mud?
She would definitely ask Lunya about it when she found her!
Babycorn knew that Lunya could do a lot of things. Like fighting, paying for really expensive things and making pretty clothes. All of which of course meant that she could obviously help her with baking cookies. “It’s like I always say-! Making cookies is just like fighting a really big sandworm!” Babycorn explained to Cherrypit. “So Lunya can totally help us!”
He nodded, though Cherrypit really had no clue what she was talking about. But if Babycorn had said it, then it must be right!  Hopefully Lunya wasn’t busy with anything else. If she was, then Babycorn could always bake cookies some other time.
Babycorn hummed a song to herself as she made her way towards the stairs leading to the basement. “Hmm…Actually, Cherry? Do you think maybe I can bake the cookies by myself?” Baking cookies wasn’t too different than juggling right? “If I can juggle I can make cookies!” She grinned, taking the first step down the staircase.
Cherrypit, who was jumping down the stairs two steps at a time, looked up and nodded. “Yeah! We can make lotsa cookies!” He bounced up and down while letting out a little cheer. The outrageously tall stack on his head jumped along with him.
While Cherrypit knew his way around the kitchen after his time at the Culinarian’s guild the oven was still unknown territory to him. It would be really exciting to finally be able to use it!
“Yeah! We got this! That way Lunya can be surprised too!” This was such a smart idea! Why hadn’t she thought of it earlier?!
Babycorn took a single step into the basement and felt a foreboding feeling in front of her.
“HUrK?!” Babycorn froze. She hadn’t even seen whoever it was that was standing in front of her but by instinct alone she decided that the best course of action was to hide behind Cherrypit and his comically tall stack of ingredients.
Cherrypit turned around and looked at Babycorn and then turned around again to look in front of him.
Standing in the middle of the basement was Lunya Lanya herself, arms crossed and hair flowing dramatically behind her. All while looking like she was trying really hard not to burst out giggling. “Hi Lulu!” Cherrypit waved over at Lunya without a care in the world. He babbled and wiggled around happily when Lunya waved back at him.
“Hi Cherry!” Somehow Lunya had been the ones to find Babycorn and Cherrypit instead of the other way around.
It made sense. After all, it was said that Lunya had some sort of sixth-sense when it came to knowing when Babycorn was about to make a poor decision about anything.
Or when she was about ten minutes from setting the kitchen on fire.
It occasionally overlapped.
Cherrypit waved his arms around excitedly and waddled over to Lunya, the squeaking of his shoes walking away from her let Babycorn know that she was no longer safe. “YEEP?!" Babycorn hastily stood up and looked around. When she spotted Lunya her worries mostly disappeared.
“Lunyaaaaaa!!” she cried out, running towards her with open arms.
Babycorn screeched to a halt right in front of her
Is what I would have said if that actually happened, but no, instead Babycorn tripped and sent herself flying over Lunya and right into a wall.
“AH?! Babycorn?!” Lunya flinched as the sound of Babycorn colliding with the wall sounded through the basement. It wasn’t the first time this had happened and it probably wouldn’t be the last either. Both her and Cherrypit ran over to check to see if Babycorn was okay. “Bebe? Bebe hurt?” Cherrypit asked, looking up at Lunya to see what she would do next.
“UWuawuaguwgauwaguUWUA…” Babycorn had bounced off the wall after hitting it directly with her face. There was a red mark on her forehead but otherwise it looked like she was fine, if not a little dizzy. It was best to make sure though.
Lunya had the idea of asking Babycorn how many fingers she was holding up but she thought of a better question. “Babycorn if you had to choose between eating a worm or a banana split, which one would you pick?”
“I would choose both of em’. Ahahaha…..”
Lunya sighed, “Well she’s fine.” She flicked a simple benefic at her forehead to heal the wound away. Her attention turned now instead to making sure Cherrypit wasn’t scared.
She pulled out a small lollipop from the pocket of her shorts. The lollipop was shaped like the head of a namazu. “Here Cherry!” She made sure to take the wrapper off the candy right in front of him so maybe he could remember for next time. “You were really brave just now, good job!”
Cherrypit bit down on the lollipop and pulled it from Lunya’s hand. “Mmmhmhmmh!!” He thanked her the best he could. Then he crunched down the lollipop and swallowed it whole, plastic stick and all.
Lunya made a note to herself to remind BOTH siblings that you weren’t supposed to eat that part.
“LUNYA!!!!!!” Babycorn suddenly screamed.
“NyAAAAHAHA?!”
Babycorn had sprung back to life and was back to standing on her own two feet, albeit a little off balance. “There you are! Me and Cherry have been looking for you for the past…” Babycorn paused, it looked like she was concentrating really hard on something.
She raised up her hands and began counting with her fingers. “One…Two…Three…”
Until she gasped, holding up her hands towards Lunya, “Five! We’ve been looking for you for five minutes!” That was a pretty long time! Wasn’t it?! “We need your help with something! If you don’t mind!”
“Don’ mind!” Cherrypit repeated.
“I don’t mind! I’m happy to help.” Lunya nodded. There was a sense of apprehension though, considering what was standing right in front of her. “Does whatever you want help with happen to involve that…?” Lunya pointed at the giant stack of assorted things on top of Cherrypit’s head.
For some reason Lunya couldn’t actually tell where it ended.
‘Yeah! It does!” Babycorn gestured over to the tall stack of things still perfectly balanced on Cherrypit’s head. “I got everything we need to make lemon cookies!” Babycorn took a look around to see if anyone was listening. “I wanted to make some for everyone. As a thank you” For what? Babycorn didn’t quite know. The urge just hit her suddenly, maybe it was a thanks for putting up with her since the beginning? For still letting her pal around? She really had no clue.
Lunya smiled warmly, “That sounds nice! I’m sure everyone would love some! Including me!”
“I knew it!” Babycorn beamed, tapping her feet excitedly in place, “And since you’re helping you can get extra cookies!” That’s how it worked after all.
“I was planning to get extra either way!!”
If the cookies were edible this time at least.
Lunya took a closer look at the tower of ingredients. Traveling from the top all the way from the bottom she could see things like milk, a huge bag of flour and eggs all separately stacked on top of each other. For a moment Lunya worried over not seeing lemons along with the other ingredients but chances were Babycorn was just going to borrow some from the kitchen anyway.
It was a pleasant surprise to see Babycorn using edible ingredients to make something for once.
Before Lunya could even congratulate Babycorn on a job well done, she noticed her pulling something out of her braids. Something that had no less business being in there than her usual baby corns did.
Babycorn proudly flashed a familiar shape in front of her. “I even got these cute little B’ig Nunh shaped cookie cutters!” Babycorn wiggle it around with a giggle.
“We are not using those~!” At this point Lunya was getting worried with how much B’ig merchandise Babycorn was somehow getting her hands on.
“Okie dokie!” Babycorn tossed the cookie cutters over her shoulder with such ease that you would think she probably had ten more of them at home. Which would be wrong. She has thirty. “Okay! Let’s gooooooooo Cherry!”
Babycorn took off running towards the kitchen with Cherrypit right behind her.
“Babycorn don’t run so fast!” Lunya shouted, chasing after the pair of siblings. At this point she would have hoped that Babycorn would remember that she wasn’t allowed inside of the kitchen by herself.
And having Cherrypit around didn’t count, as many people had explained to her already.
Not after the cereal combustion incident two years prior…
As Babycorn narrowly dodged running straight into a chair, she pulled up to a stepstool and climbed up to the top. Then she slammed her hands on the counter, “Okay Cherry! I’m ready!”. On cue Cherrypit gave her a tiny salute and expertly threw the stack of things off his head which all landed neatly around Babycorn. Including an apron that just kind of fell on Babycorn’s head.
Lunya clapped alongside Babycorn, “Wow! Good job Cherry!” At this point Lunya noticed that Cherrypit had also brought along with him some tools for measuring and even a mixing bowl for everything. “Babycorn, did you actually bring all of this…?” It was almost too good to be true.
“Yuppers!” Babycorn nodded, as she tied the apron in front of her. “I’ve been watching people make cookies all week and I memorized what they were using!”
“Oh? Is that so?”
“Yeah!”
Lunya put her arms behind her back and smiled, “And you didn’t happen to take these things from Himbo’s room did you?”
“N-No…? Of course not!”
“Oh course not!” Lunya grabbed a measuring cup and turned it around to see the insignia of a beaver on it. “So I’ll just go tell him that a raccoon broke into his room and stole his things!”
“What?! No it wasn’t a raccoon! It was me!!” Babycorn couldn’t cover her mouth with her hands fast enough. “I-I mean…!”
“HA-! Wait no. Give me a second.” Lunya quickly ran out of the kitchen and into the designated break room.
Babycorn and Cherrypit sat there in silence with only the sound of distant rummaging while they waitied for Lunya to come back. When she finally did, she was holding a similar step stool to the one Babycorn was standing on. Lunya ran over and placed the step stool next to Babycorn and climbed up until both girls were almost at the same height.
Lunya pointed a finger directly at Babycorn. “HA! Got you.” She did a little excited bounce and wiggled her arm around.
“Noooooooooooooooo!” Babycorn wailed, “How did you knooooow it was meeeee?!”
“Well you pretty much admitted it.”
“That’s true!”
Lunya felt something poke at her side, when she looked down she noticed Cherrypit standing right under her. There was a big bag of flour on top of his head. “Lulu!” He jumped up and down to show her what was on top of his head, as if it wasn’t obvious enough.
“Can you open the flour?” Babycorn asked, she put her hands together. “I couldn’t open it! I thought I could but it's really really strong! Please please please please!”
“Okay, okay! You don’t have to beg.” Lunya moved her hands in a calming motion to ease Babycorn’s worries. Cherrypit walked closer to her and moved his head in such a way that Lunya could easily reach the flour. “Alright! Let’s start making these cookies!” She grabbed the bag of flour by both ends and pulled them apart. Thanks to her strength the bag of flour opened with ease. The bag let out a white puff of flour in defeat.
“Yippppeee!!!” Cherrypit and Babycorn let out a cheer as Lunya poured some of the flour into a bowl. “Go! Go! Lunya! Yaaaaay!!!”
Lunya blushed lightly, “Aw you two…” At this point Lunya was well aware that both Starsinger siblings cheered at just about everything that she did. No matter what it was. And for some reason she always felt a little more energized after hearing it. Not only her but other people too…
Surely it was nothing.
Lunya took the still sorta full bag of flour and went to carry it out of the way. “Okay Babycorn what’s-?” She began to ask, but her question would never see the light of day because Babycorn would cut her off with something that chilled Lunya to her very core.
“Okay thanks for the help Lunya! We’ll take it from here!”
Lunya stopped in her tracks and looked back at Babycorn, dropping the flour right where she stood. Her eyes were shut and a wide smile was frozen on her face.
“Eh?” What had she just said? “What do you mean?”
“We only needed your help opening the flour! Me and Cherry will bake all the cookies so you don’t have to worry about anything!” Babycorn was wildly waving a wooden spoon around in the air. Cherrypit grabbed a smaller metal spoon and held it in his mouth. “Cookies!!” He gleefully shouted.
Lunya looked around the kitchen. There sure were a lot of things in here that were flammable. And pointy, And poisonous. And capable of causing tummy aches. “Are you sure? I really don’t mind helping!”
“Yeah I’m sure!” Babycorn grabbed an egg and handed it to Cherrypit. He cracked it on the edge of the bowl and expertly dropped the insides into the bowl. “I promise I’m not gonna set the kitchen on fire again or stab myself or eat something I’m not supposed to!”
Given Babycorn’s past history Lunya had a very valid reason for not quite being convinced of Babycorn’s claims.
On the other hand, Babycorn had brought all the right ingredients for making lemon cookies. Cherrypit was also with her and she had seen his cooking skills first hand during a barbeque last month.
Babycorn was even using the measuring tools she had (admittedly) stolen to measure things and asking Cherrypit if it was okay before adding it in.
And she wasn’t even taking a bite of the raw ingredients?!
Could it be that Babycorn was…LEARNING?!
Dare she say, Lunya was feeling more than a little proud. It almost brought a tear to her eye.
“Okay Babycorn!” Lunya took a step back to walk out of the kitchen. As she neared the exit Lunya let out a little cheer of her own, “You and Cherrypit got this! Don’t keep all us waiting! Because I’m sure those cookies will be super yummy!”
“Thanks Lunya! I promise me and Cherry are gonna make them taste super duper yummy!” Babycorn did an excited little dance and waved Lunya a short little goodbye before looking back at her counter in front of her. “Okay time for the secret ingredient!”
Then, Babycorn pulled out a bottle of Lemon-scented dish soap with a hearty Tada! Cherrypit mimicked his sister and said the world's squeakiest tada! after her.
Unfortunately (or fortunately?!) he did not have a smaller version of dish soap with him.
Lunya’s eyes widened to an almost absurd degree. The speed at which she turned and ran back into the kitchen could not be understated. She was almost afraid to ask, but it had to be done. “Babycorn. Why do you have that?”
Let it be known that it was a brand new bottle too. “I just bought it today!” Babycorn helpfully explained.
Then without breaking eye contact with Lunya once, Babycorn began to empty the entire bottle of dish soap into the bowl full of flour. An aroma of lemony freshness soon began to overtake the entire kitchen as Babycorn smiled. “Yummy! Yummy! Yummyyyy~!” Babycorn happily sang to herself.
The dough was starting to smell really good so that obviously meant that the cookies would taste just as good too!
Lunya could do nothing but stare in horrified silence, her mouth agape.
“B-B-B-B-Babycorn y-you really shouldn’t…” Lunya tried to say. But there was no stopping Babycorn at this point. Lunya could now only watch helplessly as Babycorn added an entire bag of bird feed into the bowl alongside the dish soap.
Needless to say, no one but Babycorn and Cherrypit touched those cookies that night.

Our wishes shall come true, amidst the light and dark.
"Miss Babycorn Corn!" Sofia shouted from atop the balcony. "Huh?" Babycorn squinted her eyes and watched as Sofia ran down the stairs of the second floor all the way to the ground to met her there. When she did Sofia pointed a finger at her. "I have decided that I am going to adopt you as my big sister!!" Sofia declared. "There's no need to thank me. " It would be an honor wouldn't it? As that meant that would make Babycorn a Princess just like her. Babycorn, who would find out what the word adopt meant just a few days later, was just really confused.
Lalapril 4/24 Wish
in the middle of the night cherrypit misses his sister and sofia has the solution for all of his problems. trademark princess secret!!
Sofia turned onto her side, pulling up the blanket to try and keep herself warm. Tonight she had decided to sleep in one of the barracks of the Twin Adder since it was one of the few places that had multiple beds to sleep in.
They weren’t all that comfy but it wasn’t like Sofia wasn’t going to get all that much sleep anyway. Sofia turned onto her other side and stared at the person on the bed next to her’s.
Cherrypit was sitting with his back turned to her, humming something to himself. It was strange. The singing wasn’t the only thing that was strange but the whole thing was super weird!
As it turned out the person she knew as 'Cherrypit' was actually borrowing his sister's body. That wasn't even what he looked like!
Even stranger was that his sister happened to be the person that she admired the most. Strangest of all was that Cherrypit himself had told her that he was only two years old?!?!?!
When she found all of this out Sofia had dropped her bow in shock.
Knowing all of that made the sight of Cherrypit hitting all the targets she had spent hours setting up even more baffling. How could a toddler even be capable of something like that?! Even inside a body that wasn’t his.
Sofia couldn’t imagine what he really looked like. Probably really small, like any other two-year-old that she had seen. She recalled what the other members of the Twin Adder had said about what she was like as a baby. It was always things like ‘I could carry you in one hand’ and ‘You were as heavy as three apples.’
“By the twelve, I could have killed him.”
It was obvious even when they first met that Cherrypit was much younger than her, but how was she even supposed to know he was actually that young. Sofia sat up,  thinking back on one of the first things she had asked Cherrypit back then. Something along the lines of asking where his parents were.
Apparently Cherrypit’s parents were out there looking for him but he had no idea where they were. That was the big reason why Sofia felt an instant connection to him, having been separated from her own family when she was just a baby. No matter what anyone told her she knew that they were still out there somewhere looking for her.
‘I’ll take you under my wing kid!’ Sofia had boldly proclaimed.
How was she supposed to know that Cherrypit knew way more than she did!?
Well, in some regards at least.
One thing that Sofia figured out was that Cherrypit didn’t know how to count or read all that well. There were also a lot of other things he just didn’t know or just would plain forget.
In retrospect she should have really gotten the sense something wasn’t right when Cherrypit tried to eat mud off the ground.
During one of their archery practices Cherrypit had brought up the topic of his sister. Since that moment he never stopped talking about her. All about how he wanted to see her again and how he missed her. So much.
When Cherrypit just casually mentioned that his sister was one of THE Warriors of Light, well, Sofia must have asked him to repeat himself at least a dozen times just to check if she had heard him right.
Sofia wondered for a moment if she had a lost brother out there looking for her too alongside her parents. That would make him a prince, just like she was a princess. Could he have passed by Gridania at some point? Having any sort of sibling sounded nice. Especially if they were really really cool…
One thing was clear. Sofia was insanely jealous.
But at the same time, she was glad she wasn’t Cherrypit.
Sofia found it a little strange how Cherrypit sometimes looked at people. Sometimes he just looked scared of them. She could recognize the look, from all the times she had spied over new recruits of the Twin Adder.
But there wasn’t any reason for Cherrypit to be scared of people just saying ‘Hi’ to him, was there?
Sofia sighed and looked out to the night sky outside. The thought of asking Cherrypit why he looked scared around people sometimes crossed her mind but she didn’t want to pry. Or even worse, learn more things about him that would keep her awake at night even longer than she already was.
Then, Sofia’s eyes went wide when a sparkle lit up in the sky, trailing behind it was a bright and thin tail.
“Whoa?!” Sofia scrambled onto her knees and pressed her face against the window. It was almost freezing cold but that hardly mattered right now because if she was right and she saw what she thought she saw then this was big news. “Cherrypit! Do you know what this means?!”
Sofia assumed that Cherrypit must still be awake, since he was still sitting. Little did she know that Cherrypit had made the unfortunate mistake of falling asleep sitting down. Her first clue should have really been that the singing had stopped but there was no time for sleeping! Not right now!
Because when there’s one shooting star another will surely follow.
Sofia practically leaped from her bed onto Cherrypit’s. The force of her landing was enough to send Cherrypit airborne for a few seconds. He opened his eyes and yawned, not particularly caught by surprise. Though usually he was the one doing the bouncing rather than being the bounced on.
“Cherrypit Cherrypit! Cherrypit!” Sofia called for him in a hushed tone. There weren’t any people in the room besides them but it was late at night and Sofia didn’t want to risk waking anyone up. If it was up to her however, she would have woken everyone in Gridania if she could. It was this important!!
Cherrypit turned around and yawned, rubbing his eyes. “Soapiea?” He let out another long yawn, “What’s wrong? Everything okay?” If there was something bad going on there would probably be more noise but Cherrypit figured he might as well ask. There were a lot of wrong things happening lately.
“Quite the opposite actually!” Sofia stood on top of the bed, hands resting on her hips. “The answer to all of your problems has just arrived!”
Cherrypit looked confused. “What probem?”
“The problem with your sister! How you wish she was back!”
Cherrypit’s eyes lit up, “Bebes here?!” He zipped his head back and forth, looking all over the room. There was no sign of his sister anywhere. It took him a bit to realize that he was still trapped inside of her body. “Oh…” Cherrypit’s smile became empty. The sudden surge of hope he had just felt was just violently stomped out until it barely remained.
Sofia took note of how devastated Cherrypit looked. She felt bad but right now there was no time to waste.
Without any time to lose she grabbed Cherrypit’s arm and dragged him to the window. When Sofia saw that Cherrypit was just short of looking out of it she used two pillows to give him the extra boost he needed.
Cherrypit exhaled his breath on the glass. It fogged up and let him draw a silly little face on it just as Sofia pointed up to the sky.
“I saw a shooting star go across like this!” Sofia moved her finger across the window. Her finger left behind a mark on the window exactly where she had remembered the star falling.
“What’s a shooty star?” Cherrypit had never heard of something like that before.
Sofia opened her mouth, then closed it. She brought a hand up to her chin and hummed in deep thought. “Cherrypit Pit can I trust you with a royal secret?” Normally she wouldn’t dare something this sacred with just anyone but as a princess she surely should have her subjects best interests in mind, right? It was her job to help and protect her people! No matter how small the problem!
Cherrypit looked confused. He rested his head on the windowsill, “Secret? I can keep secret!” He really couldn’t but most of the time he just forgot about them anyway.
Sofia looked around, seeing if there was anyone else listening in. “I don’t know if this is supposed to work for anyone but princesses or princes but…” It couldn’t hurt to at least give it a shot. Sofia moved the curtains so they could see more of the sky. “In almost all of the fairy tales I’ve read there’s a shooting star in the sky that the princess makes a wish on.” Sofia explained, “I saw one just right now so when another one comes around you can make a wish to see your sister again!”
“Really?!” Cherrypit could hardly believe it.
“Really! We just have to keep our eyes open!”
Now that Cherrypit really thought about it, the idea of making a wish on a star sounded a little familiar. He couldn’t really quite remember where he had first heard of it but if he closed his eyes he could vaguely recall someone sitting by him, looking up at the sky and holding their hands together. This person Cherrypit couldn’t remember smiled at him, but they didn’t look happy.
“Cherrypit! Cherrypit! Look, look!”
Cherrypit’s eyes snapped open just in time to see what Sofia was yelling about. A shooting star traveled across the night sky, twinkling as bright as it could until it disappeared behind the trees of the Twelveswood. He placed his hand on the window, trying to grab onto the lingering glow it had left behind.
Sofia waved her hand in front of Cherrypit to get his attention. “Here! Copy what I do!” She put her hands together and closed her eyes, “Just do this and make the wish in your head!” Sofia had enough confidence in Cherrypit to keep her eyes closed as she went ahead and made her own wish.
It was also kind of because she didn’t want to lose this once in a lifetime chance.
Cherrypit looked at Sofia and then looked down at his own hands. His hands looked a lot different than her’s but he still managed to copy what she was doing.
He looked back and forth again and again to make sure he was doing it right. Once he was confident enough he looked back at the sky, where the shooting star had once crossed.
There was something a little scary about closing his eyes. Cherrypit didn’t like the dark. It really scared him. So much so, that on the rare occasion that he decided to sleep he never willingly closed his eyes. Instead he just waited enough for his own body to do the sleeping for him.
…But this was for his sister. If there was anything that he proved throughout this ordeal it was that he was willing to do even the most scariest things in the world if it was to help her.
Sofia slightly opened her eyes just to check on Cherrypit. She had already made her wish so it was safe now. Cherrypit’s eyes were closed and his hands were clasped together. “Wanna see Bebe again…” He quietly said. Sofia thought for a moment about reminding him his wish was supposed to be a secret but if she just didn’t listen then surely it would still count.
Surely both of their wishes would come true, right?
Surely they would both be reunited with their families.
Right?

The Rabbit has landed.
After a busy....morning??? Pupusa finally had the chance to sit down. It felt like she had been on the move ever since she got here. Life itself wouldn't let her rest long however, because just as she sat down Babycorn decided to sit down right next to her. "Hi Pupu!!" Babycorn waved at her. As she stuffed half a sandwich in her face. Cherrypit was eating the other half. "I got something for you!" She stood up and from behind her back took out a bright yellow shirt. Pupusa was nearly speechless. "Did...Did you make this?" Babycorn shook her head. "Nope! Not me! It was Cherry!" Cherrypit waved around a small sewing needle. Ah. Yeah that made more sense.
Lalapril 4/23 Rise
pupusa takes a trip to go help some of babycorns friends :) yipppeeeeee
Pupusa took a breath and flicked the last drops of water from her hands. She took a step back and put her hands on her hips. The dishes had finally been cleaned, the fruit washed, cake decorated and her hair was brushed.
Her job here was done and now it was finally time for her to kick back and relax.
She didn’t really have any plans besides sit around and people watch outside her house but she would probably find something to do. Pupusa always did. “I think Tortata is supposed to be back soon…”
Her sister had gone out to do some shopping and Pupusa had asked her to bring something sweet back for her. For now Pupusa figured she could wait outside for her sister to get home.
That was until there was a frantic knock on her door. It was loud and it wasn’t stopping. “ For the love of-Hold your chocobos! I’m coming!” Pupusa dried her hands and headed towards the front door. No one else but her was awake so it was up to her to answer. “I swear if it’s another scam artist trying to sell me something…”
Pupusa opened the door with a scowl on her face. It was neither a scam artist or her sister but instead a third thing that she never even considered. The Warrior of Light. Looking a little more nervous than usual.
“Hi Pupusa!”
“Hi Babycorn.” Pupusa dryly responded back. She looked down, Cherrypit was staring at her with his huge scary eyes. They had only been formally introduced just a few weeks ago. “H-Hey Cherrypit.” Initial scare factor aside, once Pupusa knew that Cherrypit was just a normal baby at heart she started warming up to him instead of turning and running the other way.
“Can um…we come iiiin?” Babycorn asked, a smile on her face.
There was something about the way she was smiling that instantly set of Pupupa’s alarm bells. “Sure. Come on in.” Pupusa could recognize a fake smile like that a yalm away. She happened to be a master at them.
Pupusa stepped aside as Babycorn nervously made her way inside the house. She was tapping her fingers together and shuffling her feet one over the other.
In contrast, Cherrypit was already busy climbing over the couches and flipping onto them with a loud squeal.
Pupusa had to try really hard not to say ‘Awwww!’ out loud when she saw how messy Cherrypit’s hair was becoming with all his playing. She was digging her nails into her arms. The facade almost broke entirely when Cherrypit looked right at her.
“Liba here?” Cherrypit asked. He started to chew on one of the throw pillows.
“Sorry baby. She’s taking a nap so she can’t play right now.”
“Pooie!”
Despite his disappointment Cherrypit didn’t let it get to him. Instead he decided to just play with some of the blocks that Libra had left out before going to sleep. Babycorn shuffled over to where Cherrypit was playing and sat down next to him.
“Don’t chew on the blocks.” Pupusa reminded her. Libra did enough of that already.
“I wasn’t gonna!!”
Babycorn put the block she picked up onto the small tower that Cherrypit was building. She criss-crossed her legs and took a look around the room to see if anyone else was around. “Hey Pupusa? Can I ask you for a favor?” Part of her was way too nervous to even look at Pupusa.
“Huh? Yeah sure.”
Babycorn hesitated for a moment, truthly she wasn’t afraid of what Pupusa would say but she couldn’t help it, not really. “I have a problem. You see there’s a friend that lives really far away who needs my help but they want my help in making things and running some sort of…club? I’m not too sure…” Babycorn was still a little iffy on the details. Having so much info thrown at her often did that to her poor little head and she didn’t want to do the same thing to Pupusa.
“Go on?” Pupusa still wasn’t sure how she could help with this.
“Since you know how to goldsmith and run a store too I was hoping you could help! I’m not too smart for that sort of stuff soooooooo…That’s why I’m asking you!”
“First of all, don't sell yourself short. Didn’t you tell me you were an alchemist just last week?”
“Oh I’m not an alchemist! That’s Cherrypit!” Babycorn pointed over to Cherrypit who gave Pupusa a cute little wave.
“Ah I see.” That made sense.
With that clarification out of the way, Babycorn continued. “We would have to travel really far away but I really need your help Pupusa! I don’t know what I’m doing really and they’re all counting on me but…!” Babycorn sniffled, wiping away snot from her nose on her brand new shirt.
Pupusa rolled her eyes and walked to hand Babycorn a clean tissue. “Here. Don’t mess up that shirt, it looks expensive.” Pupusa took a step back and silently watched as Babycorn blew her nose. “I can go help. I mean if you really need me to.” She looked away bashfully, though she didn’t mean to.
“Really?!” Babycorn jumped to her feet and held her hands together. “You’ll really really do it?!”
“Yeah I already said I would now stop jumping. You’re gonna wake up the whole house." Pupusa grabbed Babycorn by the shoulders and held her down. At the same time she noticed that Cherrypit had crawled up onto his sister’s head. Pupusa had a bad feeling about this.
“Hey. question. When do you exactly plan on leaving?”
“We can go right now!”
“Yeah I thought so.”
Good thing Pupusa was already wearing her shoes, Or rather her comfy slippers but that was better than nothing. Pupusa took notice of a purple glow around her. It was just like last time when Babycorn had teleported her to Old Sharlayan in the blink of an eye.
At least this time there was more of a warning. “You’re a really impulsive person. You know that right?”
“Huh? Well yeah I do love to draw!”
“Impulsive! I said impulsive! How did you even hear artistic?!”
Pupusa blinked once and then suddenly her house was gone. Instead she was surrounded by a dark sky and a sense of weightlessness. “Huh.” She looked around, there was nothing but grey dirt as far as she could see. Where in the world had Babycorn taken her?
“Not world!” Cherrypit chimed in. He was bouncing around in a circle around her.
“What?”
Just by sheer coincidence Pupusa decided to turn around. When she did, she was met with the sight of the planet she had lived her entire life on. The edge of her smile slightly twitched. Pupusa slowly turned to look back at Babycorn, who looked just as carefree as she usually did. “Who. Is the friend that needs your help again?”
“They’re a lopporit!” Babycorn put two hands over her head and imitated a pair of lopporit ears. “They got big ears and fluffy tails! They live on the moon that Hydealen built for them and for us!”
Pupusa decided to pack away some of that sentence for later. “You didn’t mention they were THIS FAR AWAY!” Pupusa desperately gestured towards the planet in hopes that Babycorn would realize the scope of what she did.
“Well I did say it was far faaaaar away!”
“I didn’t think you meant the fucking MOON!!”
Pupusa’s cries echoed far, far, far away.
So far that even the Watcher turned his head to see what the commotion was about. Whatever it was, Babycorn was probably behind it. Nothing too surprising there.

Trapped in a cocoon, everything around me bloomed.
"Tilika!!" Babycorn cried out as loudly as she could to her cousin across the room. She was just a little early to meet her, considering her class was still ten minutes from ending. Tilika turned around just in time to Babycorn running right at her. "Babycorn! What are you d-!!" She was cut shirt by the force of the impact of Babycorn hugging her. That was a little odd. Normally her cousin wasn't the sort of person to just run up and hug her. "Did something happen?" Was all Tilika could think to ask. Babycorn hugged her as tightly as she could. "I just really missed you!"
Lalapril 4/22 Promise
remember that time when you become the endwalker?? that was wild.
Step, take a step, another step.
Just keep walking forward.
Babycorn looked up, her surroundings were the same. Dreary, dark with a sense of hopelessness as far as she could feel. She didn’t even know what she was feeling right now.
Was she tired? Hungry? Sad? Angry?
“Maybe all of them at once!” She answered herself. A smile crossed her face, then as fast as it had appeared it was gone. Another step forward. Then another. She had to keep going. For the world and for her friends. They were all counting on her. They had given up everything for her.
Babycorn stopped.
No more steps forward. No matter how much she cried and begged for her body to move, it remained still.
She grabbed onto the ends of her dress with a tight grip. ‘Don’t grab too hard! You’ll wrinkle your clothes!’ Tilika’s voice echoed in her head. And that was all it was, an echo. Because the real Tilika was gone, just like the rest of her friends, her family.
Babycorn still didn’t understand.
Why couldn’t they have just found another way here? What was so important, so hard about it? There was no reason for it all! If she had only been just a bit stronger she could have carried them all the way here and they would all still be here! Standing right next to her! Talking to her!
Calling her cute!
Grabbing her by the pom!
Telling her not to eat something off the ground!
Asking her to get out of the way!
ANYTHING!
Instead Babycorn was just met with silence. Unwavering and suffocating. No one was coming and no one was going to help her. Everything rested on her shoulders. Countless of people that were depending on her, whether they knew it or not. The whole world as she knew it and more that she would probably never know.
Her family who risked it all and trusted her to keep going. Babycorn couldn’t let them down, she couldn’t. She can’t!
Yet here she was. Completely still, all while Meteion watched her from above. Could everyone else see her too? “I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I can’t do this.” She couldn’t move. “I can’t do this by myself…” Babycorn brought her hands up to her face, covering her eyes.
She tried to imagine herself anywhere but here.
Babycorn Corn wasn’t at the edge of the universe, she was back home sneaking into the kitchen. Babycorn was back at the Waking Sands on her way to report to Minfilia. Chelinka Starsinger was home.
There were countless voices around her. Encouraging her with messages from people she knew, people she had known, people who loved her and who she loved. Those voices were wasting their time.
Babycorn covered her ears. Refusing to hear any more of it.
She didn’t want to remember any more of her loved ones. Having already lost them or fearing she would lose them forever. Her heart would break beyond repair. She would walk forward if it meant they would stop calling out to her.
With every step she took she tried to push more memories out of her mind.
‘Bebe! Bebe!’
All of them.
One thing was certain. Once Babycorn brought all of them back.
She would never let them go again.

When you are near, there's no need to fear!
Cherrypit watched as Babycorn sat on the edge of her bed, her head buried in her hands. Something had happened when they reported back to Minfilia that had caused them to run back to their room really fast. He didn't really get it, nor had he heard what Babycorn had said to her. Not that he was going to get Babycorn to admit to what she had said. She was taking this secret with her to the grave, because by pure luck alone Minfilia hadn't really heard either. "This is the fifth worst day of my life..." Babycorn mumbled.
Lalapril 4/21 Whisper with @windupiceheart 's b'iggy nunh, @umbral-heart 's hanabi and @windupnamazu 's sirius and butter
cherrypit runs around his house and has cringefail moment after cringefail moment. please help him.
“Uhhh, hold on…” B’ig moved his hand around the top shelf.
Given it was much higher up than he could see and Vertical was currently out somewhere mysterious meant B’ig couldn’t ask her to help. It was up to him to get the toy that Cherrypit had accidentally thrown on the highest shelf.
Cherrypit watched from down below. Curious on whether B’ig was going to be able to reach his toy knife or not. He stood on his tippy-toes to see if he could catch a glimpse of it. Normally Cherrypit could easily float up to the top shelf or even stretch his arms and legs out to grab it but there was one very simple reason why he wasn’t doing that.
He didn’t feel like it.
So instead he decided to go ask B’ig to do it! B’ig was always so nice and cool and really really funny!
Cherrypit clapped to cheer B’ig on as he continued to struggle to reach the top shelf all while also trying to keep his balance on a flimsy wooden chair that Cherrypit had brought him when B’ig asked him to get a ladder. “Go Biggy! Go Biggy!” Cherrypit yelled out, waving two actual knives around like pom-poms.
Suddenly, B’ig felt a sudden surge of energy.  Like he could do anything!
More specifically he could defeat those final few ilms in his way and grab the toy knife that Cherrypit was trusting him to reach. Neither of them knew it but Cherrypit was accidentally using his starsinger abilities to give B’ig Nunh an extra boost in power just by cheering him on.
“Got it!” B’ig nunh victoriously exclaimed. While striking a pose that was equally as victorious and also very cool and interesting.
But just as he did, he accidentally happened to lose his footing.
“Wuh-oh.” There was an idea in B’ig’s head that maybe if he didn’t notice that he was about to fall maybe he would be able to stay afloat for a second or two.
Alas, there was no stopping the act of gravity as he very quickly began to plummet to the ground.
Or at least, he would be. If a fast acting Cherrypit hadn’t caught him in his hands already. His oversized hands and arms that could grow up to five times their size (or more) with the help of extra muscles being folded on top of each other. Until they were big enough to hold B’ig in a tight grip.  “Yippee!!” Cherrypit cheered, carrying B’ig to the ground wasn’t all too hard. B'ig felt about as heavy as a piece of paper to him. “Yay! Yay!” Cherrypit continued to happily jump around with B’ig in his hands.
As B’ig’s heart shaped moogle pom continued to wiggle back and forth because of Cherrypit, he managed to weakly ask him to please put him down.
Cherrypit nodded and did just that. Gently dropping B’ig onto the kitchen floor in a faceplant. A soft faceplant. Like landing on a bed of goose feathers if it was a wooden floor.
B’ig dusted himself off and staggered onto his feet. While Cherrypit tried his best to bite his tail. With his back turned to him B’ig Nunh had no idea what he was doing. B’ig turned around to see Cherrypit looking at him with innocent eyes that told him that he was doing nothing wrong.
“Thanks for the catch Cherry.” He looked at the toy knife in his hand and bent down, handing it to the very trustworthy toddler, “Here you go! Be careful cutting up those vegetables!” Even if they were plastic this time.
Cherrypit smiled and grabbed the toy knife from B’ig. He took time to wildly swing it around like it was a sword instead. Just to see if it still worked, ya know.
B’ig tilted his head curiously, “Does it still work?” he asked playfully.
The process of testing to see if the toy knife still worked of course included biting on it. Cherrypit paused his testing and nodded. “Yeah! Thanks Papa!”
Cherrypit froze.
B’ig Nunh stared down at Cherrypit with a blank smile on his face.
Neither dared make any sudden moves.
B’ig slowly started to process what had just happened. “Pa…Pa…Pa…?” The room felt like it was spinning. “Pa…Pa…Pa…Pa…?????” His eyes were spinning, his hands were shaking.
Cherrypit slowly looked up at B’ig, looking at him and then looking at the toy knife, over and over. Until finally he decided that a tactical retreat was the best option. Cherrypit took off running without so much as a bye-bye. He was mortified at what he had just said that he dared not say anything else.
That was a lie, he did say one thing.
“Gotta go!!”
Something that Babycorn often said out loud when running away from situations that she wanted no part in either.
Cherrypit ran as fast as he could up the stairs of the basement Leaving an eerily still B’ig Nunh behind.
At that point he could almost be mistaken for a stone statue instead of the interesting cat boy he very much was. “Pa…Pa…Pa..” He would remain there for hours until Vertical came downstairs to snap him out of it.
Meanwhile, in the present, Cherrypit had reached the top of the stairs and looked around to see if anyone was around to have heard him calling B’ig his papa. “Blahblahblah…” Cherrypit stuck his tongue out and shook his head. It’s not like he didn’t want B’ig as a papa, it was the idea that he let B’ig know that now.
The concept of being embarrassed about this was something that was probably a bit too early for a two-year-old to have but for better or for worse this was something that he had learned from no else but Babycorn Corn.
As Cherrypit walked forward he thought about whether his sister had finished cleaning their room after Lunya had told her to. In his thinking he neglected to watch where he was going, running right into a certain someone else.
“Wah!” Cherrypit exclaimed, he dropped his toy knife to the ground in surprise.
The toy knife slid across the wooden floor until it came to a stop by the front door of the mansion. “Oh no!” Cherrypit heard someone cry out and then the sound of footsteps slowly followed, quickening in pace as they got farther away from him.
When Cherrypit sat up he saw his toy knife in the hand of someone he didn’t know. Then the more he looked the more he realized the person handing him his toy was Hanabi! She was sitting on the ground next to him, her side-ponytail was swaying in the wind. Tempting him to swat at it. “Did you drop this Cherry?” she asked with a smile.
Cherrypit nodded, empty eyes sparkling. Hanabi always looked so cool to him. The cool wands she would always carry around…The way cool outfits she would wear…
The way her magic would blow people up! It was all really cool!
Cherrypit grabbed the toy knife from her and stuck it in his mouth to bite it. Hanabi gently grabbed his arm and lowered it, removing the toy knife from his mouth. “No, no. Don’t stick things like that in your mouth!” She reminded him.
In response Cherrypit had a great idea. He stuck the toy knife behind his ear, like he had seen a lot of people do with pencils. “Tada!” He held both of his arms out wide. “Thanks Mama!”
Cherrypit froze. Again.
Hanabi looked at Cherrypit with a smile on her face. She looked behind her to see if Cherrypit was talking to someone else. She raised a shaky hand, pointing at herself. “Ma…Ma…Ma…Ma…? Hanabi would remain there for only a few minutes until the smell of a tasty bread baking snapped her out of it.
“GOTTA GO!” Cherrypit yelled louder than ever.
He ran up the stairs up to the second floor of the mansion in a desperate attempt to be anywhere but where he had just been.
In his panic Cherrypit failed to notice he was on a direct course of crashing right into someone else. Before he could crash into that certain someone, he was picked up off the ground by the collar of his shirt.
“Wah?” Cherrypit ran in midair for a few seconds before stopping and being put back onto the ground. When he looked up he saw Sirius staring at him. “Cherrypit be careful. You can’t go running around with your eyes closed.” He reminded him.
Lest they have a repeat of the  incident when Cherrypit ran into someone and knocked them right through a wall.
Poor Andres.
Cherrypit twirled his fingers together. He really didn’t mean to run so fast and he didn’t want to push Sirius through a wall either! There was also maybe the chance that if he said he was really sorry about running around Sirius would give him one of those really yummy candies he had.
Then before Cherrypit could stop himself-
“Sorry Papa!”
At this point Cherrypit was just getting mad at himself.
Sirius blinked, but ultimately just went with the flow. Cherrypit had called him that (and a lot of other people) that already. It was the same as usual. “Okay, just try to be careful next time.” He reached into his pocket and pulled out a single piece of candy.
The next time Sirius looked down at Cherrypit, he was gone. Seemingly having blipped his way out of existence again. “...Yeah. Okay.” Cherrypit also did that a lot too. Business as usual. Sirius only hoped he didn’t teleport himself onto the roof again.
Lucky for him, Cherrypit was not on the roof. He had blipped himself back down to the first floor and in front of the door to his and Babycorn’s room. Surely his sister must have finished cleaning the room by now. Right?! All she ever did was sweep things under the bed anyway and eat whatever wrappers were on the floor.
Just as Cherrypit was about to jump up and reach the doorknob, it turned on its own. “Who there!” Cherrypit hopped back in surprise as the door opened in front of him.
To his absolute horror, out from his sister’s room stepped out no one but Butter Veil. There were a few dust bunnies hanging out in his hair “If you need any more help just call me over!” He waved to someone inside the room, Cherrypit could only guess it was Babycorn. He knew Butter really liked her.
Cherrypit froze the instant he noticed Butter looking down at him. “Hi Cherry!” he smiled, “Babycorns done cleaning so you can head in if you want!” As soon as Cherrypit noticed Butter move his hand into the pocket of his jacket he knew something was up. From his jacket Butter pulled out a lollipop, red in color. “Here! I know cherry is your favorite flavor Cherry!”
By now Cherrypit had figured out that the problem was happening whenever he talked to people. So the solution was to just keep his mouth shut of course! So Cherrypit did the only thing he could think of and used both his hands to cover up his mouth.
“Mpmmphmpphm!” Cherrypit very quietly said. Without saying anything else to Butter, Cherrypit ran past him and into his room, kicking the door closed.
Then he opened the door back up and using an extra hand from his arm he grabbed the lollipop from Butter and closed the door again. “Remember to take the wrapper off!” Butter yelled from the other side of the door.
Cherrypit put his ear to the door and listened to the footsteps of Butter walking away. He couldn’t take any chances. Once Cherrypit thought the coast was clear he took his hands off of his mouth and gave a tiny sigh of relief.
“Pew…!” Cherrypit wiped at his forehead. Then turned around, the first thing that caught his eye was Babycorn. She was holding a bright pink blanket in her hands, his blanket!
He thought he lost it forever cause he couldn’t find it this morning! “Banwket! Bebe you find it!” Cherrypit rushed forward with his hands held out towards his sister.
“Huh?” Babycorn looked surprised to see him but her surprise quickly turned to joy as she held the blanket out for him to see. “Yeah! I did! I had to clean the room a whole lot to find it but Butts helped me to and we found-”
Babycorn was cut off by Cherrypit jumping onto her and giving her a tight hug. He grabbed the blanket from her and nuzzled his face into it. He had really really missed it! “Thanks you Mama!” Cherrypit yelled out, as loudly as he could.
“Cherryyy…! PLEASE don’t call me thaaaat…!” Babycorn said as quietly as she could.
Instead of paying attention to her, Cherrypit jumped off of Babycorn and danced around with his blanket. “Thank you Bebe!” Thank Mama! Thank Mama!” He happily sang to himself.
All while Babycorn stood by, completely frozen.

I don't need a Friend who's weak!
Cherrypit poked his head from behind of his sister. He could tell she was breathing heavily. It made sense they had just fought and survived fighting a really big scary dragon! Babycorn was holding her arm in front of Cherrypit, as if that would protect him from anything. In front of them and his friends was Zenos, he was talking about something Cherrypit didn't care about. He just lost. Why was he still there? Then Cherrypit noticed something. There was a sword on the ground near Zenos.
Lalapril 4/20 Bloom
cherrypit still has a lot of growing up to do but he learned a lot of things while babycorn was gone! like how to count past 25!
Babycorn closed the door behind her and collapsed onto the floor.
The adrenaline that had been coursing through her body ever since the attack on the Imperial palace had run its course. The noise of the growing crowd outside was so loud it leaked in through the closed windows and doors.
It wasn’t really a bother. The excitement outside was nice to hear after everything that had happened. Peace and quiet wasn’t the reason she had run to hide indoors either way.
Word was traveling fast about Zenos’ defeat. All around her people were crying out in celebration of Ala Mhigo's freedom and as much as Babycorn wanted to watch the cheering, she had somewhere else to be.
And that somewhere else was anywhere but there.
Babycorn watched as her brother ran all over the room, dragging one of his toys with him. It was a stuffed chocobo, a pretty pink one. He ran all over the floor, the walls and the ceiling as he took everything in. Unlike Babycorn, his energy didn’t look like it was going to stop anytime soon. Then again, stranger things had happened.
Babycorn picked herself off of the ground and walked over to the bed in the room. She got down on all fours and checked underneath the bed just like always.
Thankfully the coast was clear. There was nothing or no one under the bed. Finally, some good luck for a change. Babycorn sat up and looked around to see where Cherrypit had run off to.
“Cherry?” Babycorn cried out. She looked up to the ceiling and around the walls for any sign of him. There were faint colored handprints on some of the walls. When Babycorn noticed them she felt her stomach start to churn a little. She nervously wrapped her arms around her waist, “Cherry can you please come out?” Normally Cherrypit would come out of wherever he was hiding if Babycorn asked him to.
This time was no different. “HI!” Cherrypit squealed as he phased through a wall behind Babycorn. He giggled to himself as he grabbed onto his sister’s arm and swung himself back and forth.
Babycorn played him for a little bit before grabbing him and setting him down on the ground. “Cherry? Can you listen to me a little bit?” She was kneeling down and talking to him face to face. “I need you to stay in here with me until I tell you we can leave. Okay?” Babycorn hadn’t asked him to do something like this for a few years now but she still hoped that he remembered how important it was.
Cherrypit blinked, “Okay!” He said, giving her the best imitation of a serpent salute he could make. Then he sat down right where he had been standing and began to play with the stuffed chocobo Babycorn handed back to him.
“We gonna play?” Cherrypit asked her, chewing on his stuffed toy.
Babycorn opened her mouth to answer, but stopped herself.
She had just noticed that Cherrypit still had spots of blood all over his face.
Babycorn silently used her sleeve to wipe off the leftover blood from his cheeks. He giggled to himself as she cleaned him up. Babbling his usual baby speak he grabbed her arm with his tiny hands and chewed on her sleeve. He looked up expectantly at her to see her laugh with him like she always did.
Instead, he was a little surprised when Babycorn suddenly pulled her arm back. “Cherry! Please don’t do that.” She rolled her sleeve up all the way up to her shoulder. It was really uncomfortable but Babycorn didn’t want to even look at anything that reminded her about what Cherrypit had done.
Not that she wouldn’t have done the same but…
The only reason she had become an adventurer was so Cherrypit wouldn’t have to be in any danger or fight for his life. If any blood needed to be spilled it would be by her own hands.
But now…
What had been the point of everything if it had come to this anyway?
Babycorn was supposed to be the one at the center of everything. That was why she had hidden Cherrypit in the first place. She knew full well that Cherrypit was stronger than her. Even back then he was the one helping her cast spells when she was too weak to do it herself.
Really she should have known that it was only a matter of time until he decided to step away from the shadow that Babycorn was purposely putting him under.
“Auuuugghhh….” Babycorn scratched her head in frustration. Was she doing something wrong? Was that what happened?! This whole thing was making her head hurt. Who cares if Cherrypit killed Zenos?! That’s what they were there to do anyway! Right?! That was it! Then Ala Mhigo would be free and then-!
Babycorn looked down at her brother. In the time that Babycorn had been distracted he had fallen fast asleep. Unsurprisingly, the last few weeks had been hectic. He was lying down on the floor, arms wrapped around a stuffed chocobo. He kicked his feet in such a way that had Babycorn wondering what he could be dreaming about.
On instinct Babycorn knelt down and got ready to wipe away any drool that was coming out of Cherrypit’s mouth.
“Ah-?” That’s when Babycorn noticed that there was nothing for her to clean up.
Now that she thought about it, Cherrypit hadn’t once drooled on his shirt since she had woken up. Maybe she had been too busy to notice? No, she would have noticed. There was no way it would have slipped her mind.
If there was anything Babycorn was good for, it was checking up on Cherrypit every five minutes.
A thought crossed Babycorn’s mind. Could something have happened while she was asleep? She was gone for a long time, just short of an entire year to be accurate. None of it made sense though. Cherrypit had told her everything that happened, from traveling to Kugane and meeting Hien. It all sounded like a standard adventure to her.
What happened with Zenos made her furious but the only solace to Babycorn was that she would make everyone who was mean to Cherrypit rue the day they ever decided they wanted to mess with him.
Though now the question was…
Had Cherrypit really told her everything? He had no reason to lie to her right?
Babycorn pulled her legs closer as she watched Cherrypit sleep. As his sister she never saw him as anything other than just her little brother. A baby who was still growing and learning, he would never hurt anyone, no matter what the people around them would say.
He wasn’t supposed to hurt anyone! That was her job! The fault was supposed to lie with her! Not him! That’s how it had always been.
The floor was just a little comfy. Babycorn lay down next to Cherrypit, watching him closely. His chest rose and fell but no air would ever come out. That’s how it had always been. Cherrypit didn’t need to breathe after all.
He wasn’t alive.
The day Cherrypit had attacked those people in Ul'dah she had taken all of the blame. At least, in her head she had. That day everyone looked terrified of him. She couldn’t remember a lot from that moment but the looks on their faces had been burned into her memory.
And today, she saw the same look on some of her friends.
Babycorn wondered if she looked at him the very same way too.

Some things are meant to be contained.
Aleria watched as more and more guards walked past her. None of them suspected a thing. She turned around and caught sight of Meriala, she nodded back to her. Today was the day. All she needed to do now was wait for the assistant to come back and Aleria would ask her if she could get something from her cell before they left for yet another briefing. Aleria gripped the soul crystal in her hands behind her. She had been so nervous about this she ended up skipping yesterday's lunch and today's breakfast.
Lalapril 4/19 Holy
you could also put an un- in front of holy and it would fit. anyway babycorn helps an old woman cross the street :) if the street was an underground bunker sort of thing
Babycorn had always thought of herself as an excellent judge of character. If someone seemed sketchy to her then one time out of ten they would be and if she found someone trustworthy, they often were aside from twenty or so outliers.
Which really meant that even though Babycorn thought otherwise, she was actually a VERY bad judge of character.
Something that was very bad if you happened to be one half of the Warrior of Light and also a powerful being known as a Starsinger.
As she had grown older Babycorn became the type of person to trust someone almost immediately after meeting them. After years of suffering at the hands of others she wanted to believe that people were generally nice and good at heart. They just needed a little push in the right direction sometimes!
“-And that’s why we should help her!” Babycorn finished her very long explanation.
Despite trying her best, Airy looked unconvinced and very cold. Which wasn’t too much of a surprise since they were in Garlemald. “I don’t think we should get near her!” Airy flew behind Babycorn and gestured to the woman that was hopefully too far away to hear either of them, “She’s got a creepy mask on and she’s just standing still in the middle of a snowstorm?! That’s like a horror movie premise 101!!”
Babycorn scoffed, “Come on Airy! She’s probably just lost and needs help getting somewhere safe!”
“Who gets lost in the ruins of a city?!”
“We did! Remember?”
Airy pouted and crossed her arms. “That was only because you went chasing something you wanted to bite…” It hadn’t even been her fault. At this point Airy knew that convincing Babycorn to just go home was a lost cause. “Fine! Let’s go help her or whatever!” This type of Helping people in trouble' stuff was so not the 'Future ruler of the world style.'
“Yay!” Babycorn cheered, “I promise it’ll be quick! And when we get back home I’ll make you some more burnt cookies!”
“Yeah you better!”
Airy flew close behind Babycorn as she walked up to the strange masked woman and introduced herself.
“Hiya!” Babycorn extended her gloved hand out, “My name’s Babycorn! I live in the The Goblet, plot 10 ward 21 and I’m twenty-seven years old! Do you need any help today ma'am?”
For a second Babycorn was starting to doubt herself, as the masked woman remained silent, simply staring down at Babycorn with a pair of empty black eyes.
Airy hovered closer to Babycorn and whispered into her ear. “We’re gonna die~”
“Shush…!”
The masked woman suddenly spoke. She placed a hand near her heart, “My name is Priscilla. I’m looking for something.” Priscilla turned around and raised her hand to gesture behind her. “It’s a small door in the ground. Under that door is a series of rooms with very important documents I need to find.” Then without another word the woman walked away, presumably to look for the door she was seeking.
Babycorn shrugged. “Well I guess we’re looking for like a door!” With a pep in her step Babycorn began to swipe away at the snow on the ground with her boots.
Airy slowly descended down to the ground, groaning all the way.
It took a few minutes but Babycorn was able to find the exact door that Priscilla had been looking for this entire time. While Airy kept watch at the door Babycorn ran to go call her over.
It wasn’t that hard for Babycorn to find her, there wasn’t really an overabundance of masked ladies running around.
“Hey!” Babycorn ran up to Priscilla, her feet kicking up snow and soot with every step. “Miss Priscilla we found the door! It’s right over there!”
Priscilla looked a little off guard by Babycorn tugging on her arm. It took a few seconds for her to regain her composure. She adjusted the strange mask on her face. “Ah?! C-Can you lead me to it?”
“Sure can!” Babycorn ran ahead. She waved her arms all over the place so Priscilla wouldn’t lose track of her. “This way! This way!” Though with Babycorn’s bright yellow colored coat it would be almost impossible to lose track of her.
Once they arrived at the door, Priscilla knelt down and began to inspect the door closely. Then before Airy could even suggest they make their exit, Babycorn knelt down beside her. Something that Airy reacted to by screaming directly at Babycorn, who just sort of ignored her. “Do you need any more help? You know just in case there’s some scary monsters in there?” Babycorn asked Priscilla with a smile on her face.
As Priscilla pulled on the handle of the door and peered down into the darkness under them she turned to Babycorn with a smile. Presumably.  “That would be…like, really nice.” In the span of a second however, there was a sudden change of heart. “Sorry. No. I can’t let someone get hurt because of me.” There was an earnestness to her voice. She really meant this.
Babycorn giggled to herself. “Don’t worry I won’t get hurt!” She took out her codex and flipped through the pages. Sure she might not know more than half of what was written on there but it still looked impressive for her to do. She pushed up a pair of invisible glasses on her head. “I know white and black magic now! So you can count on me to protect you!” Babycorn stepped aside and gestured towards Airy, who was boredly flying next to her. “Airy is here too! And she can help keep us both safe too!”
Airy scoffed. She would heal Babycorn whenever she needed it but it was a whole different situation for strangers. “What makes you think I’d help keep anyone safe?”
“Because you love me?” Babycorn batted her eyelashes.
“I’m the future ruler of the world! I don’t have any love in my heart!”
“Hehe. That means she’ll help us!”
“No it doesn’t!!”
There was a strange sound. It took a bit but Babycorn realized that it was the sound of Priscilla’s laughter. There was something that just sounded off about it.
“When's the last time you laughed?” Babycorn asked. As tactfully as usual.
Priscilla stopped laughing and stared at Babycorn in silence, complete silence. This did not waver Babycorn in the slightest. Unlike Airy who flew quite a distance away from the masked woman. Eventually Priscilla answered, “It’s been a while since something last made me laugh.”
“Wow…So what you’re saying is that I’m really funny?!”
“...Guess so.”
Tumblr media
The door that Priscilla had been looking for ended up leading to a ladder that itself led to a series of underground rooms. It looked like no one had been down there in several years. Papers and furniture were strewn everywhere, almost as if someone had intentionally made a mess of the whole place.
Babycorn looked around, taking note of how wet the ground felt. It was too dark to see how much water was down there, in fact it was too dark to see most things. “Don’t worry Miss Priscilla! I got this!” Babycorn took out her codex and concentrated her magic into her hand.
In no time there was a small ball of light floating in Babycorn’s hand. It was sort of like a smaller version of a Holy spell, just compact and scholar-friendly! Babycorn noticed that Priscilla wasn’t really paying attention. It was a bit of a bummer but Babycorn pressed forward.
The water turned out to be almost up to Babycorn’s knees. “C-Cold…” It was a little chilly but she needed to be brave. For this new friend of hers. “So what were you looking for down here again?” Babycorn couldn’t quite remember.
Priscilla was already hard at work, turning around paper after paper in her search. “It’s a folder of important documents.” Her voice took a voice for the somber. “...I can’t let it fall into the wrong hands.”
Airy mocked Priscilla’s talking by flapping her hand up and down.
“Got it! We’ll get looking and I’ll hand you any important looking stuff for you to check!”
Priscilla nodded but her mind was elsewhere as she continued to walk further into the rooms.
Babycorn signaled to Airy as she slowly followed Priscilla, “Airy can you look over there for stuff?” She couldn’t remember which one of her friends had said it, but she remembered one of them telling her that two heads are better than one. “If we all look in different places we’ll find it faster!” And the faster they found it the faster Babycorn could change into a pair of dry socks.
Airy let out another loud and long groan but ultimately there was nothing she could do about it now that they were down here anyway. “Fineeeee!” Luckily Airy let out her own glow so she didn’t have to fly around in the dark. “Call me if you need me or whatever.”
“Thank you Airy! I love you!” Babycorn then skipped after Priscilla into the darkness.
“Yeah,yeah.”
Tumblr media
Priscilla and Babycorn eventually made it to a room that had no water in it, much to Babycorn’s relief. If only Hungstal was with her then she would have an extra change of clothes.
As Babycorn grabbed a folder from the floor she shook it to see what was inside. When she did, only a few specks of dust came falling out. No sign of the documents that Priscilla was looking for. She sighed, the search wasn’t going too well. Babycorn hoped that Priscilla was having better luck but when she turned around it looked like Priscilla was having as much luck as she was.
Babycorn picked up a ripped piece of paper from the ground. She couldn’t understand a word of it. “So what kind of papers are you looking for anyway?” Maybe if she knew a little more it would help her look for it better?
“I really don’t want to bring you into this.”
“Huh?” That was not at all the kind of answer Babycorn was expecting. “What do you mean?”
Priscilla remained adamant in keeping Babycorn in the dark. As both of them continued to search in silence. Until Babycorn cut right through it, “I’m a Warrior of light you know? I’ve fought a lot of scary things so I think I can handle whatever it is you don’t want to bring me into!” She grinned at her, though Priscilla’s back was turned.
Without a word, Priscilla touched her mask with a gentle hand, she sighed. “It’s about someone dangerous. Very dangerous.” She almost hesitated calling it someone, it was nothing more than a monster to her. A being incapable of mercy or understanding.
The way it ripped her friends and co-workers apart…
“That…actually sounds kinda scary. Yeah…” Babycorn only hoped that it wasn’t like a ghost or anything. Otherwise she was pretty confident that she could handle it, and if not she would call in one of her friends for help. Surely they would be happy to help her if she asked nicely enough.
“I doubt you have ever heard of it.” Priscilla knew that the Warriors of light were involved in lots of conflicts but there’s no way that anyone outside, or even inside of Garlemald, would know about what she was talking about.
“I’ve heard of a lot of things!” Babycorn beamed.
“Then…” Priscilla’s voice cut right through Babycorn. “Have you ever heard of Starsinger?”
Babycorn’s blood ran cold.
In her panic she found herself incapable of lying. “I-I have…”
Once Priscilla heard this she rushed to Babycorn’s side, grabbing her arms in an almost deathly grip. Babycorn held in the urge to scream. “Then you know-!” Priscilla was trembling, “You know how terrifying they are!”
Babycorn said nothing.
“How they have the power to find out anything and everything about you? To decide your fate?! They’ll know everything you’re doing. You can’t hide from them! There’s nowhere, no time to hide! They’ll find you no matter what!” Priscilla laughed, but it was different than last time. “They can control anything and anyone they want to. Do you understand?!”
Babycorn watched as Priscilla stood up and walked away, her back turned to her as she continued rambling. “If I can find those papers I can make sure that the world can be free of Starsingers. For now and forever.” There was a sob, “Why did she do all this…Aleria you…?”
“Mama? What does mama have to do with-?”
Babycorn hands flew to cover her mouth as quickly as she could but it was too late.
As soon as she looked up, Priscilla was staring right at her. “Aleria…Y-You’re…” The pieces were slowly coming together. She took a step back, “You…Then…It can’t be…” The realization had hit her. She was standing in front of the monster she had been fearing for the last forty years.
Priscilla fell to the ground, she crawled as far back as she could until she hit a wall. Even then she tried to do the impossible and tried to keep going. Just for a chance to escape. “S-Stay away from me!”  She grabbed an empty container and threw it right towards Babycorn.
Babycorn ducked down just in time to avoid getting hit. and flinched when she heard a clatter behind her. The container Priscilla threw ended up hitting and knocking down a handful of books that had been stacked on a desk.
“W-Wait Priscilla I'm not going to hurt you!” Babycorn took a step closer, “I don't...!”
“I said get away from me!”
Something about the way Priscilla was raising her voice combined with the static emotion of her mask was making Babycorn more nervous than she was. “I don’t understand! What’s wrong?! Did something happen?” Had she done something wrong? Had she said something wrong? Sometimes she was too direct with some things, that was true. Maybe she just said something like that again. “I’m sorry if I said something! I say a lot of stuff wrong sometimes. But I’m sorry if I-”
“Shut up! Just shut up and leave!” Priscilla looked around for anything that she could defend herself with. There was a glitter of hope as she spotted something at an arm’s length of her.
A sharp scalpel. Where had it come from? Who knows and who cared.
Now armed with a scalpel Priscilla found the strength to slowly stand back up. She kicked up scattered papers filled with nothing important as she stood her ground, holding onto the scalpel, pointed directly towards Babycorn. “Don’t come near me! You hear me?!” Her hands were trembling.
Babycorn wasn’t sure what to do next. There was a part of her that was scared that she wasn’t actually that scared of what was going on. “Priscilla…Stop it…!” With each step that Priscilla took towards her Babycorn took a step back. Her eyes were fixated on the weapon in Priscilla’s hands. There was something about this whole thing that had her stomach in knots.
Priscilla’s voice was quiet, almost at a hushed tone. “You think you’re going to fool me again? You have another thing coming…”
“Huh? What?”
The sound of Babycorn’s dismissive tone just added more flames to the fire. “Don’t play dumb with me! Aleria! I’m not letting you do this to us again!” Priscilla crushed a glass vial underneath her heel. She was getting closer.
“Aleria?” Babycorn paused, “That was my mama’s name! That’s not me!”
Priscilla stopped, her heavy breathing was permeating through the room. It was the only thing Babycorn could hear. She turned her head to look directly at Babycorn. “Regardless. I can’t let a monster like you leave here alive.” Not again. Never again. No one would die on her watch again.
Babycorn was speechless. She held up the light she cast earlier. As it was a compressed Holy spell, it wasn’t just good for creating light. As scared as she was, she was still a Warrior of Light. She wasn’t going to go down without putting up a fight.
Cherrypit was still waiting for her after all.
With that, Priscilla suddenly charged forward.
Tumblr media
By now, the sound Priscilla’s commotion was causing reached Airy. Her wings stood still for a moment in worry. “Babycorn?” She dropped a strange folder she was carrying and flew as fast as she could to see what was happening.
If there was anyone that was hurting Babycorn there would be no hesitation on her part to fight them head on.
What Airy never expected to fly into was a scene that almost made her scream on the spot.
The strange masked woman was lying on the ground, clearly unconscious. And standing right in front of her was Babycorn. There was a knife stabbed into her stomach. Her bright yellow coat was slowly turning a slight shade of orange from what Airy could only guess was blood coming out of the knife wound.
Airy had started healing Babycorn before she even realized what she was doing.
“Babycorn!? Are you-?!” Airy flew over to Babycorn’s side, she looked at her and then back to Priscilla, “What happened?!” Things got even weirder when she saw Babycorn pull the scalpel out of her like she was pulling a knife from butter.
This time Airy couldn’t help but scream. “Aren’t you supposed to leave that in?! So you don’t bleed to death?!” Airy didn’t know a lot about that sort of stuff but it sounded right.
Babycorn tossed the scalper aside into a pile of papers. “Don’t worry! Like I said-I'm sturdy!” She winked.
“I don’t think you’re that sturdy?!”
“No I am.” Babycorn took out a handkerchief and began to wipe at the spot of her coat that was stained with her blood. Almost like if it was a juice stain rather than actual blood from her own body. “She stabbed me right where my scar is. I really lucked out!”
“W-What does that have to do with anything?!”
“If anything hurts me through my scar it doesn’t really do anything!” A very fun side effect from the whole dying thing that Babycorn had fortunately (or unfortunately) found out when she was just a kid living in Ul’dah. “It sorta just feels like I got poked by a pointy stick! I just pull it out and I’m fine, see?”
Babycorn struck a pose. Her hand was shaking.
“Uh…huh…” Right now Airy was a little too shocked to say anything but she put it in the back of her mind to yell at Babycorn when they got home. Did she have any idea how much they could have been putting this to an advantage?! Having this sort of secret ability would probably help them take over the world even faster! Somehow!
“Not that I make it a habit of getting stabbed.” Babycorn tugged on one of her braids lightly. “It’s still not very fun…”
Airy could only imagine.
“So um.” Airy turned around to look at the still unconscious Priscilla. It didn’t look like she was dead and she knew that Babycorn (probably) didn’t have it in her to kill someone that she had been so friendly to just moments before. Then again, what did Airy know? “What are we gonna do with her?”
Babycorn honestly wasn’t sure.
The way she had spoken about Starsingers, how they were monsters that were able to control a person’s life so easily had her a bit unnerved. There were people out there that wanted her dead that was for sure but never for this reason.
There was just something about it that made her sick to her stomach.
Not only that, but the way Priscilla had so casually mentioned that her mother had somehow ruined her life. That her mother was a monster? Her mother was anything but that. She had never done a thing wrong in her life.
All Babycorn wanted to do was stop thinking about it.
“We should leave.”

We'll always find our way back.
Babycorn sharply inhaled. She crumpled up the piece of paper in her hand with a tight grip. If the note was right then this was the house where her grandparents lived. Up until a few weeks ago she hadn't even known they existed. But now here she was about to knock on their door and introduce herself as their granddaugher. "What if they hate me?" It would make sense. She had let her dad die after all. It was her fault he was killed, it was only supposed to be her dying that day but he had gotten in the way. Or so Babycorn believed. "...Okay." Babycorn took a step forward and prepared herself to knock on the door.
Lalapril 4/18 Distance
aleria and lalatov have a talk about their future plans that will definitely happen and not have anything tragic happen to them
Aleria counted the gil in her hand. With each one she counted she imagined the things she would buy with them. A new dress, a suit for Lalatov and brand new toys for Chelinka and Yuri.
When she got done counting she sighed, realistically none of this gil would be buying any of that.
Her and Lalatov needed to save up gil to have enough to finally leave Thanalan. No matter what.
She looked over to where her husband was currently loading up the rest of their unsold produce. They sold more than their usual stock today. Which was good news for their plans but not-so-great news for Chelinka, who loved to eat their leftover produce more than anything in the world.
Sometimes Aleria couldn't tell if Chelinka was more excited to see her parents or the vegetables. One thing she did know was that she probably missed her children more than they missed her.
She always looked forward to seeing Chelinka’s warm smile waiting for them at the door as she greeted them with a ‘Welcome home Mama! Papa!’ Then she would lead them to show how good a job she did protecting the home. And as of recently she had been telling them all about the things that she and Yuri did that day. Which was usually sleeping, in Yuri’s case.
While Chelinka was very much still a child, she was not an ordinary one in the slightest. Having horns and a tail she’d been trained to hide was only a part of that. And she wasn’t helpless, not in the slightest. Which both parents found out when they came back to find a fresh corpse on their doorstep. Chelinka denied having anything to do with it but then, who else could it have been?
Last night Aleria had to remind Chelinka that most people that looked like them didn’t usually have tails like her, or her mother and father.
Then there was always that worry, that the next knock to come to the door would be Garlean soldiers ready to take her back. Not only that, they would take her children, her husband, her entire life. It wasn’t fair for her family to suffer because of her existence.
One question would always echo in her head, almost relentlessly.
‘Would Chelinka and Yuri be safer if they weren’t with me?’
“That’s ridiculous!” Aleria would always tell herself. As a child who was separated from her own parents without a choice in the matter she would have never willingly chosen to leave their side. Never. In the end things may have worked out for the better but that was still a majority of her life spent in near isolation. Being forced to listen to and obey the worst kind of people she could have ever met.
The good outweighed the bad in her life but there was still that want to have never gone through the bad in the first place. No matter how much light there was in the bright spots in her life.
A sudden noise shocked Aleria out of her thoughts. She gasped and quickly turned around, only to see Lalatov having just finished placing a crate of millioncorn on their wagon. He looked just as shocked about the noise as she did.
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you!”
Aleria waved his worry away, “No, no it's okay! You just surprised me is all.” She put the gil inside of a small pouch hanging from her hip. “Do we have everything?” She had to be honest, she hadn’t been paying all too much attention.
Lalatov saluted. “Yuppers!”  All their leftover produce was all put away and the two of them were finally ready for the trip home. “We sold a lot more today than we did yesterday! That’ll make the trip back home easier but I hope Chelinka isn’t going to be too sad that we don’t have any extra popotos for her…” Both of them knew just how much she loved munching on them.
“Mmm…Yeah that’s a shame…” Aleria stared off into the sky, fiddling with a coin between her fingers. It couldn’t have been more obvious that she wasn’t fully paying attention.
“Is there something bothering you amor?”
“...Huh?” The coin slipped from her hands and dropped to the ground. “Sorry…! It’s just…”
Lalatov bent down and picked the coin back up, looking at it closely before smiling and placing it back in Aleria’s hands. He gently placed his hand on her’s, “If you want to talk to me about it-I’m all ears!” He wiggled his long ears up and down.
Aleria let out a snort. No surprise that Lalatov had hit one of her weak spots when it came to making her laugh. She let out a small sigh, a smile still on her face. “I’m just worried we’re not making the right decision.”
“What do you mean?” Lalatov sat down next to her.
“It’s just…” Aleria took a deep breath, “What if when we leave they find us. They find me. I can’t let you all be in danger because of me!” There was nothing to prove that Garlemald was still after her but if they weren’t chasing her for her abilities, then they would chase her down to take revenge on her for the people she killed during her escape. “...I can’t let you or Chelinka and Yuri get hurt because of me. Or worse…”
Lalatov kicked his legs back and forth with a hum. “Don’t worry that would never happen.” The confidence in his voice was almost palpable. “I’m willing to fight to my last breath to keep you and the children safe.”
“That’s exactly what I’m so afraid of!”
“No kidding? Me too!”
“Huh?” Now Aleria was just confused. “What are you talking about?”
“...Do you remember the first night we spent together? You said you would do anything to keep me safe?”
Alaria hesitated for just a moment. “I do.” She couldn’t forget it. It happened so fast. An ambush of bandits had cornered her and Lalatov without any warning and Lalatov had gotten hurt protecting her. “What does that have to do with anything?”
“I already know you’ll do anything to make sure me and the children will be safe.” He tugged on a clump of his hair, “The idea of you beating me to the punch and something happening to you terrifies me.”
Aleria said nothing, only holding onto Lalatov’s hand as tight as she could.
“I won’t let that happen. I promise.”
“And I promise too.”
“Oh yeah? Well I doubley promise!” Aleria flipped her long hair behind her and winked. The couple laughed to themselves. They were finally ready they began their long journey back home.
The day before it had been Lalatov’s turn to pull the wagon so today the duty fell onto Aleria.
As they continued to walk Aleria had another question to ask. She figured that now was as good a time as any to ask. “Are you sure that it's going to be okay to go live with your parents?” Aleria didn’t know much about them, only from what Lalatov told her about them.
And also that they were also paid assassins, but she had found that out for him.
“Of course!” It had been Lalatov’s idea to go back to Gridania after Aleria had confided in him that living in Thanalan didn’t feel safe to her anymore.
“Besides-! My parents are going to love you! I promise!” Lalatov laughed, looking away in embarrassment. “I mean they will after I apologize for maybe an hour straight to them. But they eloped when they got married so what did they expect to happen when they had me?”
Aleria let out a small laugh. “And how are you so sure about that?”
“I’m part dragon. Remember?” He bared his small fangs to her. Though they weren’t really as pronounced as his mom’s that didn’t mean he didn’t inherit any other of her traits. But even Lalatov figured that sprouting a pair of wings in the middle of Ul’dah would be a bad idea.
Aleria ran in front of him, grabbed his hands and pulled him in close. Close enough that she could whisper into his ears. “So now you’re just admitting it to me now?” She smirked, “Do you really feel that bad for me?”
Lalatov leaned back and shrugged. “Hmm? Admitting whaaat~?” At this point anyone who didn’t know this was a years-long running joke with them would probably just be very confused and worried about what was being said.
As a blanket of stars began to cover the night sky both Aleria and Lalatov decided to pick up the pace. Their initial plan of moving away had only just been decided between the two of them a day before. There was a buildup of nervousness in between the two of them as they decided to finally let their children know about it tonight.
They really should have tried to save an extra popoto or two.

A little curiosity never hurt anyone!
Dear Cherrypit, who has never ever done anything wrong in his life mind you, stared down at the person who Viggo was talking to. They looked really confused all of a sudden. So confused and puzzled that they just stopped talking. "Don't worry he just does that? What was your question?" Viggo waved any concerns aside. Besides, it was totally normal for any two-year-old to bite your head with their very sharp teeth and just hang out there until someone told them to get down. It was how he showed he loved you!!!!
Lalapril 4/17 Storm with @winduphaurchefant ’s Viggo
its raining outside i guess but more importantly, cherrypit wants a snack.
Another flash of light illuminated the night sky and Babycorn let out another scream. She covered her ears dreading the inevitable loud booming noise that was soon to follow. When the sky crackled and shook the walls of the mansion she retreated deeper into the safety of underneath a chair.
While Babycorn was hiding, completely scared out of her mind, Cherrypit was very busy standing on the small windowsill and yelling at the storm outside. With the occasional growling.
He was really mad at the really mean rain outside that was making his sister cry.
“Bababababa!!” Cherrypit barked, pounding his very large sleeves on the window. Sometimes he would fog up the window and forget what it was he was doing until he wiped away the fog and remembered what he was doing.
Then the cycle would repeat over and over.
At the same time all of that was happening, Viggo, who just happened to be sitting on the same armchair Babycorn was hiding under, was considering his options.
He had been sitting there before the storm had started thundering. Eating a yummy slice of cake all to himself. When the first sound of thunder had occurred he was taken by surprise, but not as surprised as he was to see Babycorn scurry under his legs and under the chair he was sitting in.
As cute as it was to watch Cherrypit yell and press his face against the window he was a little worried that if he dared move Babycorn would bite his legs in response.
It wouldn’t have been the first time that happened.
As another loud boom rang through the mansion Viggo carefully and very slowly began to push himself off his seat. The chair let out a small squeak and he heard Babycorn growl under him. To which he responded to sitting right back down. “Okay. Yeah. Got it.” Viggo had been the victim of a Babycorn hand bite just a week prior and he had no desire to repeat that experience but on his legs instead.
If only Babycorn knew just how funny this entire situation really was. Maybe then she would have decided to spare Viggo from this fate.
Viggo turned his attention from Babycorn to Cherrypit. Everyone in the mansion was well aware that Babycorn’s only weak point (besides her temper) was her little brother.
If you could get Cherrypit to agree with you on something, then Babycorn had no choice but to follow his lead.
Viggo nervously cleared his throat. “Cherry? Cherry, can I ask you something? It’s really importaaant?” Cherrypit didn’t so much turn his head to look at Viggo. Instead he decided that trying to bite the window was a better way to use his time.
Maybe if Viggo had something to jingle in his hands it would be easier to get his attention.
He looked around. The only thing that Viggo could see around him that could possibly catch Cherrypit’s eye was a basket of fruits and the half-eaten cake he hadn’t finished. “Hmm…If only there was someone here that would help me finish this CHOCOLATE cake that is sitting right in front of me.”
He placed the back of his hand on his forehead and leaned back for added effect. Though there really was no need to.
Viggo could see Cherrypit visibly hear him, his ears perked up and he became almost eerily still. Until, in what Viggo could have sworn was just the span of a split second, Cherrypit had somehow teleported right onto Viggo’s lap. An extra added effect to the scary factor was that thunder had flashed the very moment Viggo noticed him.
“Whoa!?” Viggo felt his legs start moving like he was about to take off running but at the most it only made Cherrypit giggle a lot. Which was still very cute.
“Cake?” Cherrypit tilted his head, back and forth and back and forth. “Cake? Cake?”
“Oh! Uhh…” Viggo looked to the side, there on the table was the aforementioned half-eaten not-actually-chocolate cake. A fork was sticking out from the top of it. The strawberry on top had been eaten already, by him, so Viggo hoped that Cherrypit wouldn’t be disappointed about that. “Right over there!” He pointed to it, “Let me just grab it so you can start eating i-”
Cherrypit decided that he didn’t want to wait any longer than he already had. He grabbed the cake with his sleeves and ate the whole thing in one bite. With a mouth full of cake he smiled at Viggo, “Mmgmoaooyyoeu!” Was what he managed to mumble.
He hadn't even minded one bit that it wasn't his favorite flavor of cake.
“Yeah! Okay!” Viggo could do nothing else but stare as Cherrypit grabbed the plate and started to chew on it.
He knew Babycorn often said that the reason Cherrypit often chewed on furniture and stair railings was because he was still teething, but Viggo wasn’t too sure about that.
Another flash of thunder lit up the room around them. Cherrypit wasn’t scared of storms like his sister was so he hadn’t even noticed it. What he did notice was a something else, a little something that sat right in the middle of Viggo’s forehead.
Viggo didn’t seem to notice that Cherrypit was staring right at him and went on with his previous idea. “Cherry I was wondering if you could ask Babycorn if she could-” Viggo was suddenly cut off by Cherrypit grabbing his face with his slightly chocolate covered sleeves. “Uh. Chewry?” Cherrypit was squeezing his face just a little bit. It was kind of uncomfortable.
“Co! Cookie!!” Cherrypit repeated. He continued to say it over and over as he stood up and poked Viggo’s head. There was another thunder flash and boom but Cherrypit didn’t care all that much. He was too fixated on getting the tasty looking snack on Viggo's face.
“Ow. Ow.” At this point Viggo had had enough. He, very carefully, grabbed Cherrypit and held him up in the air and away from his face.
Cherrypit laughed to himself and kicked his feet back and forth. The tiny amounts of whipped cream he left on Viggo’s face made him laugh. Even funnier was that he thought Viggo had no idea, but he did.
Viggo noticed that Cherrypit kept reaching his sleeves towards him, specifically over to the top of his head. “Coco! Cookie! Cookie!” Cherrypit squealed. Then he began to mindlessly chew on one of his sleeves with a smile.
The wind outside began to die down a little. Viggo looked closely at Cherrypit, trying to figure out what he was so transfixed on. Maybe it would be easier to just ask? “Cherry? What do you want? Is there…something on my face?” Besides the frosting of course.
Cherrypit babbled happily to himself. “Cookie!! Cookie!!” He pointed towards Viggo’s forehead.
“Cookie?” Viggo moved his head up, when he did he only saw the ceiling.
That’s when he had a realization. “OH! Do you mean my…?” His voice trailed off as he brought Cherrypit closer and up to his third eye. It was weird, usually most people never noticed it if his bangs were covering it.
Almost like he was perfectly disguised as a guy that wasn’t from Garlemald.
Cherrypit wiggled in his arms. “Eat? Eat?” He swiped his sleeve around Viggo’s third eye. Underneath his sleeve, and unbeknownst to Viggo, he was forming his hand in the shape of a claw. Ready to pull out the thing that Cherrypit assumed didn’t belong on Viggo’s head.
Viggo very quickly realized what Cherrypit was trying to do. He brought Cherrypit down to the ground.  Cherrypit let out a whine and put his arms up, asking Viggo for uppies. As sad as Viggo was to break his heart he needed Cherrypit to understand.
“Cherry please, you can’t actually take it out.” Viggo explained. “It’s part of my face and is most definitely not for eating.”
“Out?” Cherrypit chewed on his sleeve as he processed Viggo’s words as hard as a two-year old could. “No?”
“Right.”
“Out!” Cherrypit’s eyes sparkled.
“Yes” Viggo did a double take. “Wait! N-No actually! Not out! It has to stay in!”
“In!”
“That’s right! In!” Viggo needed Cherrypit to understand this. If he didn’t he was afraid he would wake up one day with Cherrypit staring right at him, or worse. As cute as Cherrypit was there was a certain sense of creepiness when he stared at you too long.
Cherrypit nodded. “Okay!” It looked like he did understand. But little did Viggo know, is that he really did not understand. Something that would prove to be true in the many years to come. For now though, Cherrypit had his mind on other things. Like going to go play somewhere else.
“Bye-bye!” Cherrypit waved his oversized sleeve at Viggo and began to waddle away. He started to take the staircase down to the lower floor one step at a time. Once he took the second step Babycorn realized that he was getting farther away from her.
“Cherry?!”
Viggo heard her muffled voice coming out from the chair underneath him.”Woah?!” His seat shook as Babycorn poked her head out and eventually she crawled out from her hiding space with a manic look on her face.
“Cherrryyyy! Wait for me!!!” As it turned out the fear of thunderstorms was heavily outweighed by the fear of losing sight of Cherrypit. Babycorn practically leapt down the stairs to follow her brother.
“Bebe!” Cherrypit jumped up and down, wiggling his arms around. “Bebe! Bebe!” Then he took off running deeper into the mansion, beyond a wall, and out of sight. “Cherry!! Wait for meeee! Babycorn wailed as she sprinted after him. She tripped and fell on her face twice but to her credit, she kept on going.
Viggo finally stood up from his chair and watched as Babycorn and Cherrypit ran out of view.
Had it been his imagination or had Cherrypit just run through a wall?

Face your fears.
Babycorn poked her head out from the kitchen, milk gallon in hand. Just as she suspected her brother was still in front of the tv watching one of his fun little nature shows. They were showing something about the ocean. It was getting a little late so she sadly would have to send him to bed soon. But it probably wouldn't hurt to let him watch a little more. This one was about sharks, it was very important. Babycorn looked at the gallon of milk and shook it. She should probably use a cup.
Lalapril 4/16 Fathom with @windupnamazu 's Miss 'Lunya' Mermaid.
(modern au) babycorn and cherrypit go to the aquarium!!! yaaay!!! intentionally made prequel of a previous work by lulun windupnamazu haha surprise!
Babycorn walked forward, eyes facing the floor. The only thing she was paying attention to was the light coming from her brother’s sneakers with every step they took. She could feel herself holding onto his hand but it was nice having that extra sign of reassurance that he was still there.
Cherrypit, meanwhile, was the happiest he could be. There were so many things around him to look at, so many people walking around that he couldn’t help but wave and say hello to every single one of them. “Hello! Hi! Good morning! Hellooo!” He would tell them all about how he was here to see fishies even if it looked like they weren’t listening.
Babycorn thought it was really cute. It almost made her forget that she was surrounded by one of the scariest and most grossest things in the world.
She desperately wanted to kick the Babycorn of the past that had assured her mama that she would be able to take Cherrypit to the aquarium by herself. Normally her papa would have taken him but he had called the weekly visit off because of a doctor’s appointment.
That’s when Babycorn had bravely stepped in his place for him.
Bravely? More like stupidly. Babycorn thought to herself.
Suddenly, something caught Cherrypit’s attention. “Bebe! Look! Look! A fish cave!” Cherrypit pulled her away from her path and into a dark section of the aquarium.
Babycorn could only imagine the nightmares that awaited her inside but as long as Cherrypit was having fun she knew she could stay strong.
Inside the small exhibit we’re all sorts of different fishies and sea creatures. From jellyfishes to strange wiggly things. Cherrypit had Babycorn lift him up higher to the glass so he could look at them as close as he could. “Bebe did you know jellyfish aren’t jelly?” He helpfully explained.
“For real? That’s too bad. They look pretty yummy.”
“No! Bebe, don't eat!” Once he was on the ground Cherrypit faced Babycorn and made an X shape with his arms. Effectively forbidding her from even thinking about eating a jellyfish.
“Ok, ok! I promise I won’t eat one.”
“Ok! Cause the TV said jellyfish hurt!”
As their aquarium journey continued Babycorn had the chance to view more fish up close. When they were behind the glass they really weren’t that bad. It reminded her of the animal shows that Cherrypit loved to watch.
There was one or two incidents where a fish looked to be ramming into the glass that made Babycorn jump back in surprise, but other than that she was pretty proud of herself.
As the day began to wind down Babycorn and Cherrypit decided to stop for lunch in the aquarium cafe. Their parents had given them money to spend on the day but Babycorn planned to spend her own money for lunch and let Cherrypit use their allowance to buy whatever he wanted from the gift shop.
As Cherrypit took another bite of his burger, he continued telling Babycorn all about the things they saw today. It was the same things that she had seen but she was more than happy to hear about it all the same.
As Babycorn stood up with Cherrypit to throw their trash away, the intercom began to play a message.
‘The last mermaid show of the day will begin shortly.'
Cherrypit’s eyes immediately lit up. He looked up at Babycorn, tugging on her skirt, almost causing her to drop the food tray. “Bebe! Bebe! Can we go see the mermaid? Can we? Can we? Can weeee?” He was trying his best to drag her along while excitedly bouncing in place.
“Ummm…” Babycorn took out her phone and looked at her mama’s last text. ‘be home by 8’ That probably meant they would have enough time to go to the mermaid show and then take the bus back before it got too late. She looked down and meet Cherrypit’s sparkling and pleading eyes.
“Well what are we waiting for?! Let’s go see a mermaid!”
Cherrypit jumped and cheered, “Yaaaaaaay!! Mermaid! I’m gonna see a mermaid!!”
Though it was getting late the aquarium was still as packed as before, especially the closer they got to the mermaid show. ‘Woah. The mermaid must be pretty popular…’ Of course she was, it was an actual real life mermaid! What was Babycorn talking about?
Once Babycorn got closer she noticed a small area where children around Cherrypit’s age were gathered.
Right above them was the mermaid herself. Her long white hair flowed behind her, moving around like it was almost made of water itself. She was waving at the children gathered around her. Her mermaid tail was purple, it was glittering and almost glowing.
The mermaid swam up to the top of the tank and looked to be talking to the children gathered by her.
Cherrypit couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“Miss Mermaid! Mermaid! Bebe it’s a mermaid!!” Cherrypit jumped around as much as he could while still holding onto his sister’s hand.
“I see!” Babycorn knelt down and let go of her brother’s hand. “You wanna go say hi to her?”
Cherrypit nodded as fast as he physically could.
“Then go and say hi! Just don’t go anywhere else. Okie dokie?”
“Okie dokey!” Cherrypit repeated. Then he turned and ran up to see Miss Mermaid up close.
Once he was near enough to almost touch the tank, Cherrypit started to get a little shy. He clung onto his shirt and looked back at Babycorn to see what she was doing instead. Babycorn noticed Cherrypit acting a little strange. Just as she was about to approach him, the mermaid spoke to him.
“Hello there!” Miss Mermaid waved at Cherrypit, “Are you okay? Don’t worry I’m a really nice mermaid! See?” She moved her tailfin underneath the water, it almost looked like it was waving right at him.
Cherrypit stared in amazement and nodded. Signaling to her that he was okay.
“I understand. Sometimes when I meet new people I get really nervous too.”
One of the children gathered around her raised his hand and spoke. “But you don’t look nervous right now!”
“That’s right!” Miss Mermaid moved a strand of her hair away from her eyes, “That’s because my magic mermaid eyes can tell all of you have pure hearts. That’s why I know I don’t have to be nervous in front of any of you!”
The children let out collective ooh’s and aah’s. This was enough to ease Cherrypit's nervousness. He turned around and gave Babycorn a thumbs-up and a few stomps of his feet. Babycorn waved back and gave him two thumbs-up. “He’s growing up so fast…”
Miss Mermaid dove under the water again. She waved and used her hands to make several cute shapes in the water. Cherrypit was absolutely amazed. He pressed his small hand to the tank and smiled when Miss Mermaid pressed her hand to his.
Babycorn felt a shiver run up her spine. “...Being part fish…Sounds scary…”

Star of the Show.
Cherrypit listened as the sound of Babycorn's linkshell kept ringing and ringing. Both of them weren't used to the sound so neither of them hadn't noticed it at first, it almost blended itself with the music of the Gold Saucer itself. But now Cherrypit couldn't ignore it. "Bebe!" He called out to her, but there was no response. His sister was just too busy watching a dancing sabotender from a distance. Too shy to approach him directly. The ring of the linkshell was starting to get on Cherrypit's nerves. "Go! Go!" Cherrypit shouted in vain. At this point he was tempted to pick Babycorn up himself and walk out of the Gold Saucer the same way they came in from.
Lalapril 4/15 Star with @windupnamazu 's Butter and Pancake
sometimes life is just a little hard when word spreads around that you're the world's newest miracle worker.
There were only a few special places in Eorzea that Babycorn considered her favorite to spend her time at.
Most of them were places where she could eat yummy food and hang out with her friends. Which is why sometimes a person who Babycorn would consider a friend would find her running around their house first thing in the morning, eating food right out of their fridge.
That being said her absolute favorite place ever in the world ever was the Manderville Gold Saucer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The glistening atmosphere of the saucer had an instantaneous grasp on Babycorn the very second that she took her first shaky step off of the airship. Señor Sabotender had done a funny little dance in front of her and Babycorn was so mesmerized she ended up following him for hours.
She would have spent much more time there had she not been physically carried back to the airship after they got a call from Minfilia.
But how could she help it? It was full of so many fun things to do and amazing prizes to win. Who cares if she spent most of her gil here? When she was having such a good time!
Basically, she was just a walking advertisement for the whole place at this point. One that didn't get paid for any of this mind you.
This is why Babycorn had been reciting her entire speech about why the Manderville Gold Saucer was the best place ever to Butter and Pancake. Even as their airship was already heading there. Her excitement was even enough to fight back against her fear of riding on an airship.
“Wow! That sounds like a lot of fun!” Butter watched Babycorn dance around in excitement. Normally she would be cowering in the corner and closing her eyes tightly but it was great to see her so happy.
Pancake ran in between them, she was running from side to side of the airship. All while balancing Cherrypit on her head. Who was making sure (in his own way) that nothing happened to her.
“Woah! We’re so high up!!” Pancake stared off into the horizon and cupped her hands around her mouth. "Hellooooo down there!!” She shouted. “Hellloooo!!” Cherrypit echoed after her. It would be a big surprise if someone answered them from all the way down there.
“Please tell me we’re almost there.” Pancake asked. If the ride to the Gold Saucer was this much fun she couldn’t imagine how amazing the actual place was going to be.
Babycorn paused her excitement to answer Pancake’s question. “Almost!!” She ended up getting herself even more excited after answering Pancake’s question. “If you look over there you can probably see it!” Babycorn pointed towards something very large in the distance.
Neither Pancake or Butter had noticed it. Mostly because Pancake had been busy looking at the sky all around them and Butter had embarrassingly been only staring at Babycorn.
Once Pancake saw it her mouth opened wide in surprise. "Butter are you seeing this?!! A giant sabotender!” Pancake shouted. She pointed at it as hard as she could just in case Butter didn’t see it. On top of her head, Cherrypit pointed alongside her. “Woah! Woah! Sabobebar!” Cherrypit babbled.
It made Butter happy to see Pancake having so much fun. Things had been so stressful lately after the whole incident with their parents, it was nice to get out and do something to get their minds off of it. Even nicer was that Lunya had given them a huge allowance to spend it on whatever they wanted to today.
“I hope everyone has fun today…” Butter heard someone whisper.
“Hmm?”
Butter recognized it as Babycorn’s voice but it didn’t look like she was aware she had said that out loud. A part of her still wasn’t used to having a speaking voice again, having gotten too used to having her voice echoing in one person’s head.
Babycorn was holding her hands together and staring at Pancake and Cherrypit.
"I hope they have fun."
Tumblr media
It only took a full thirty minutes for Cherrypit to crawl into a Moogle’s Paw machine and get himself stuck in there. Though completely by choice. He grabbed one of the prizes and began to chew on them.
Butter panicked at first, foolishly believing that this was the first time this had happened.
“Cherry noooooooo!!” He had only taken his eye off of him for a second but a single second is pretty much all it took for Cherrypit to get himself into some trouble. How could this happen? Babycorn had trusted him to watch over Cherrypit, even after the whole ‘sneaking on a boat incident’, and now he had let him get trapped in a claw machine…Ohh...The despair…
…Maybe he could rescue Cherrypit by winning him in the claw game?
Before Butter could even check how many MGP he had in his pockets, Babycorn came skipping over with Pancake. She had wanted to try the Cuff-a-Curr for a round or more and figured that out of the two of them Babycorn would have the most MGP on her to give her all the tries she wanted.
Pancake walked up to Butter, proudly flexing her arm out. “Guess who totally kicked the game's ass and won like a hundred points?! That’s right! Me!” A little more points and Pancake could totally probably convince Babycorn to buy her one of those machines to take back to the mansion.
“Woah! Good job Pancake!” Butter was so proud of his sister that he had forgotten about his plan to try and hide the fact that Cherrypit was stuck inside the Moogle’s Paw. Only noticing when Babycorn walked past him and stared into the machine.
She sighed, “Cherry! What did I tell you about sneaking inside there?” Butter noted the look on her face. It was about now that he clued in that this had probably happened before.
It was the same type of look that he could feel himself giving Pancake whenever she ate the cookies he baked right after taking them out of the oven.
“Sorry Butts. I should have warned you that Cherry likes to sneak into those things.”
Cherrypit offered no such apology, for he had nothing to apologize for.
Pancake ran up to the Moogle’s Paw and almost placed her face against the glass. “Damn Cherry, how did you get in there?!” Her face turned serious, “Can you get the best prize and bring it out here?”
Cherrypit nodded. He understood exactly what Pancake was talking about but he wanted to spend just a bit more time inside. Chewing on the prizes for fun. He made sure that he was biting one of the harder to get prizes though.
“Yeah! Get it!” Pancake cheered.
Butter was now a little more relieved now that he knew that this was just a thing that Cherrypit did and that Babycorn didn’t hate him forever and until the end of time now. There was only one small problem now. “How do you usually get him out?” Butter asked. There was a big part of him that was really hoping he could do something to help.
“I usually just go to the people up at the front and ask them to help…” If Babycorn wasn’t such a regular patron at the Gold Saucer already then this would probably be the reason why they knew her by name. “Do you mind waiting here while I go get them? I don’t wanna leave Cherry by himself…” It made Babycorn a little nervous to ask Butter this favor.
In reality, there was no reason for her to worry. “Of course! Just leave it to me!” Butter proudly stood proudly by the Moogle’s Paw, resting his hands on his hips he was giving off an aura of confidence that had last been seen last Starlight when he swore he could make five baker’s dozen amount of donuts before dinner.
And then he did. So Cherrypit was in good hands.
“Thanks Butts! I promise I won’t be long!” There was no way she could take long when she was so short. Babycorn was soooo smart.
Pancake raised her hand in the air. “Can I go help Babycorn?” Inside the machine Cherrypit also raised his hand but only because Pancake was doing it and he wanted to do it too.
She took notice of this and raised both or her hands, giggling to herself as Cherrypit raised his other hand too.
“Sure!” Butter answered.
Pancake pumped a fist into the air and let out a hushed, “Yes!” Her plan was to regale Babycorn all about the cool things that Butter had ever done ever since Pancake had first meet him. Yes, all the way back when she was a baby. Surely with her help she would be the flower girl during Butter and Babycorn’s wedding before she knew it.
Butter needed all the help he could get. And who better to help than his super clever and strong sister?
Babycorn and Pancake walked on ahead to Entrance Square. As they turned the corner Pancake made sure to wave over to her brother with a wide smile on her face.
Tumblr media
Butter was pretty surprised.
Not only because Cherrypit was having a grand time inside the Moogle’s Paw but also because he had somehow managed to fall asleep. He had curled up hugging one of the prizes and decided that it was a comfy enough place to take his nap.
Butter thought about knocking on the glass to try and wake him up, but that felt a little too mean.
He didn’t want to risk scaring the little guy awake but at the same time he didn’t want to risk having Cherrypit stay up all night instead.
“I guess if Babycorn needs help watching Cherry I can help her with that too!” Of course, that was only in case that Babycorn asked him. And he would be happy to help! For now he kept a watchful eye on Cherrypit.
“Yup! Still sleeping!” He said to himself. It was cute, it sort of reminded Butter of how Pancake used to sleep hugging onto Cinnamon.
At the time Cinnamon had told him over and over that she had absolutely hated it but now that Pancake was bigger he often caught Cinnamon following Pancake around bedtime with the biggest puppy-dog eyes he’d ever seen her do.
It had been a hot minute since Pancake and Babycorn had gone for help. He leaned over as far as he could to see if he could see them coming back. He didn’t want to take his eyes off Cherrypit so most of the time he was keeping himself busy staring at him and awkwardly telling patrons walking up to the Moogle’s Paw that they had to find another one to play on.
At this point the music of the place was starting to get to him a little.
“Butter! Butter!!”
Butter turned to see Pancake running right towards him. He was about to happily greet her, before he noticed the panicked look on her face. The way she was running to him, something wasn’t right.
Pancake stumbled to a stop right in front of Butter. She looked out of breath, Butter noticed that her hands were shaking. Butter ran up to her and before he knew it, Pancake had grabbed onto him in a tight hug. “Pancake?! What’s wrong? Are you okay?” Butter did his best to comfort his sister who obviously had been shaken up by something.
Pancake wiped at her eyes and in a shaky voice began to explain what had happened. “W-We were walking up the aetheryte to go back to the entrance when a bunch of people walked up to us a-and asked Babycorn her name.” She paused and took a second to look at where she had come from, “...Babycorn didn’t tell them anything but then more people started appearing and they said they were looking for the Starsinger and that Babycorn had to come with them…”
Butter was having trouble believing what he was hearing.
“When they started getting closer Babycorn said s-she would go with them but only if they let me go!”  And that was when Pancake had run as fast as she could to the one person she knew she could always count on. “I’ s-sorry I didn’t help and now B-Babycorn is…Babycorn is…!!”
“Hey, hey.” Butter gently placed his hands on Pancake’s shoulders. “You didn’t do anything wrong. Babycorn wanted you to be safe. You did the right thing, you’re safe.”
Pancake sniffled, nodding. “I-I guess…”
Time was ticking. “Pancake you stay here with Cherrypit. I’ll go help Babycorn. Okay?”
“Okay!” Pancake seemed to be doing just a little better, looking determined to do whatever she could to get back at the people that had scared her so badly.
Butter gave his sister another hug, before turning off to run in the direction where he had seen Babycorn and Pancake head earlier. There wasn’t really a plan in his head but all he really knew was that he had to help Babycorn. No matter what.
With that, Butter suddenly ran off. Without any weapon on him at all.
“But you don’t have a-!”
“I’ll figure something out! Don’t worry!”
Tumblr media
Butter did happen to figure out something along the way.
That something ended up being grabbing an umbrella from an umbrella holder and rushing over to where Pancake had last seen Babycorn. It wasn’t a surprise to see that whoever it was that was taking Babycorn had already left by then.
“Did you see that? Was that Babycorn? Do you think it’s too late to ask for her autograph?”
Butter turned to look towards where some of Babycorn’s fan club members were pointing towards. Most of them were too starstruck to even notice Butter running right past them.
If they had stopped and looked at him they would have noticed that he looked remarkably like one of the characters on the front cover of 'Warrior of Love! Is actually the Warrior of Heartbreak?! Who will Babycorn choose?' But that’s another story for another time.
He grabbed onto the handle of the umbrella tightly and turned the corner towards the airship landing. Once he made his way there he was shocked to see a few people laying face down on the floor, there couldn’t have been less than four of them.
The other’s that had escaped whatever knocked down the rest were gathered around Babycorn.
Who was very busy biting the arm of a very frightened cloaked figure. He was trying very hard to shake her off but Babycorn’s bite was relentless.
As anyone who knew her when she was younger could attest to.
It actually looked like Babycorn had taken care of most of the people trying to kidnap her but it probably wouldn’t hurt to give her some help. He gripped the handle of the umbrella and raised his voice. “Hey!” All of the would be kidnappers, and Babycorn, turned to look at him. “If you know what’s good for you-you’ll let Babycorn go!” He pointed the umbrella right at them, which probably would have been a little more threatening if he was holding his actual sword.
Babycorn opened her mouth, dropping down to the ground, her face lit up as she waved at Butter. “Butts! Hi! Is Pancake okay?” She was jumping up and down in excitement.
“Hiiiiii!” Butter happily waved back at her. “Pancakes safe don’t worry!” He wanted to thank Babycorn for keeping his sister safe but he would probably do that when they got home.
Then without a warning he rushed forward, eyes flashing a strange glow. He smacked one of the kidnappers with the umbrella as hard as he could. “You asked for it!” Butter watched as they fell backwards, narrowly missing falling into the airship tunnel.
Deciding that this was now more trouble than it was worth, the handful of the still conscious would-be kidnappers retreated into their waiting airship.
Babycorn was torn on letting them go but if experience proved anything, it was that they wouldn’t try this again. After all, she never saw any of the people who tried to kidnap her twice. Ever.
On instinct Butter sheathed the umbrella onto his back. “Are you okay Babycorn?” Honestly he was more than ready to fight the people that tried to take Babycorn away again, not to mention scared his baby sister, much more than he actually did.
Babycorn picked a piece of metal from her teeth. “Yeah, I’ll get scared about this later.”

It's not the journey, it's the destination. or something like that right?
Butter stopped and hissed in pain. Looking down he noticed a gash on his hand. He must have gotten it during the last fight they were in. "Oh no!" Babycorn came up running up to him and held his hand to look at his injury. "I'm sorry Butts I don't have my staff with me right now..." Obvious from the scythe on her back. "Oh! But I have another idea!" She pulled her ribbon from her hair, letting it down. Babycorn gently wrapped the ribbon around Butter's hand and gave it a pat, "There we go!" Then she gave it a 'get well soon' kiss. Contrary to what Babycorn was trying to do, Butter took several points of damage. Lunya watched in total disbelief. This was dire.
Lalapril 4/14 Destination with @windupnamazu 's Pancake, butter and lunya.
the journey? underwater? the destination? some treasure i guess? but this is a story of how it starts not where it ends.
Cinnamon flew over to her large glass of chilled sparkling water and maneuvered herself in such a way that her long silly straw would be able to reach inside her drink. All while she laid down on a pile of books she piled up.
Time was passing by so slowly and the weather was so hot that Cinnamon decided very quickly that she was not going to wait for everyone to get back while being uncomfortably sweaty. She took matters into her own hands and went to buy herself a cold drink. There were some people that stared at her as she flew down the halls but she took it as more flattering than concerning.
Cinnamon lowered her sunglasses down onto her face and laid back. As far as she was concerned, Butter and Pancake could take as long as they needed to now.
And as long as Arcturus was with them, she wasn’t too worried about them.
“They’re big kids. They can handle themselves.” Cinnamon continued to try and convince herself. It’s not like they needed to have her hovering around them to kick any suspicious person away.
“Right! They’re fiiiiine!”
Just as Cinnamon began to finally relax, a small yellow colored pom bounced right past her.
Cinnamon’s eyes went wide and she sat up with a jolt. She looked all around to all the people walking past her. Some of them had stopped to stare at her but they were all the wrong people she was looking for.
“No…That couldn’t have been…” There was no mistake. Cinnamon knew that particular pom of hair from anywhere. “It had to be her…” There was no way she could ever mistake that pom for something else..
Not from how many times Butter had perfectly described to her the exact shape, the exact way it bounced and the way it seemed to glow in the evening sun.
Apparently.
All while he wrote inside his diary-giggling to himself and kicking his feet together.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile on the other side of the city, Butter looked around for any signs of Arcturus. Their job here was done for now so now he and Pancake were just sitting around waiting for him to come back from finishing up their deliveries.
Hopefully they would be able to go back soon, the weather here was just a little too warm for his tastes.
Even after being warned about the different climate and choosing the lighter clothes Lunya had gifted him, he had still underestimated it.
Butter fanned himself using his hand. What was taking Arcturus so long anyway…?
Pausing his fanning, Butter looked to where Pancake was busy organizing the various colorful bottles she had bought over the course of their trip.
Though organizing might have been a bit of an assumption on Butter’s part, because what Pancake was really doing was haphazardly stuffing as many potions as she could into her backpack.
As for the rest that didn’t fit, she would just carry those back herself.
Pancake giggled to herself. She couldn’t wait to see the look on Linnet’s face when she saw all the cool potions that she brought home with her. All these potions would definitely be enough to let them make as many new concoctions to subject on their worn-out Hildibrand doll victim.
There was a mischievous glint in Pancake’s eyes as she suspiciously chuckled to herself.
Butter was happy to see Pancake was having a good time.
Though he hadn’t seen it for himself he first heard about Linnet and Pancake’s hobby from Lunya a few years ago. The two girls had used several bottles of Lunya’s shampoo to create what they only referred to as Slime.
Though Butter had been ready to apologize on Pancake’s behalf he was surprised to see Lunya brush aside the theft of her soaps and shampoos.
‘Twelve forbid girls do anything.’
She had told Butter as she began to walk away while humming happily to herself. Something about decoy bottles? Strange.
Just as Butter was about to throw in the towel and suggest he and Pancake go and politely drag Arcturus back home, his ears picked up a familiar high-pitched voice.
“Omigosh!! Butter?!”
Butter quickly turned around and found himself face to face with Lunya running right towards him and Pancake. As she ran up to them her hair bounced behind her with every step she took, just as it always did.
Though it was a a bit of a surprise to run into her, Butter wasn’t too shocked to see Lunya.
At the time Lunya had asked about the favor she had also mentioned that she might be around Radz-at-Han but she had also said that they just might miss her by a few days.
“Oh woooow! Buuuutter!!! Pancake!!!! What a surprise to see YOU TWO HERE!!” Lunya laughed very loudly to herself for an unusually long time until finally stopping and smiling to herself.
“Um. You asked us to come here…??”
Butter looked over to Pancake to see if she knew why Lunya was acting a little weird but judging from the shrug she gave him Pancake was just as clueless as him.
“Yeah. I sure did. Didn't I?” Lunya stopped laughing suspiciously to herself and smiled. Then she reached her hand into a bag she was carrying on her shoulder. What she pulled out looked just like two small bags of cookies, and that’s because they were. “ Here, here!” She bounced towards both siblings and handed them a bag each. “I’m happy to see you all made it here okay!”
Lunya had asked ahead just to make sure that they had all arrived but there was nothing nicer than talking to them face to face.
Pancake held her new midnight snacks up and marveled at them. She couldn’t remember the last time in all of three days she last ate cookies. “Thanks M-” Pancake closed her mouth before anything else could come out of it. “...Thanks Lunya! Thank you Lunya. Lanya.” She was getting really good at that.
Lunya winked at Pancake and took out another bag of cookies, this time from behind Butter's ear. She would have done it from behind of Pancake’s but recently she had grown much much taller than either of them . “Woaaaahh!!!” Pancake’s eyes sparkled in amazement. She grabbed the cookies and noticed that they had sprinkles all over them.
“That one’s for Cinnamon.” Lunya explained, “So she doesn’t go and steal your cookies when you’re not looking. And if she still tries to take some then make sure to remind her that she has to ask first.”
“Right!” Pancake swiveled the backpack off her back and put it on the ground. To avoid crushing the cookies with the other really important other things stuffed in there.
Lunya looked down at them curiously. As Pancake was fiddling with her things Lunya very sneakily slid over to where Butter was. “So…Did Pancake tell you what all that was for?”
Butter thought for a moment, caught off guard by Lunya’s question. “I think she said it was for slime?”
“Slime…” On the bright side Hildibrand was still very much missing/ presumed dead so the chances of Pancake and Linnet casting another curse or spell on him were pretty slim. After what happened the first time Lunya hoped both girls learned their lesson on messing with those kinds of things.
Surely it was fine.
“So what are you doing here Lunya?” Butter asked. When Lunya had asked for their help delivering things in Radz at Han Butter thought she asked because she was somewhere else far away doing something else. “Did you need help with anything else? Oh! Did you call me and not get an answer? I don’t think my linkshell is broken…Hmm…” Butter speculated to himself and started to fiddle with his it.
“Don’t worry Butter, I never called you.” Lunya tried to ease his worries. As soon as she did however, she gave him a playful smirk. Something that should have clued Butter in that he had fallen right into the trap she had set. “Though it’s funny you mention that…”
“Huh?”
Even Pancake was curious by now.
“I actually wanted to ask you something-”
Lunya would have to wait to ask her question because as she was about to, a loud and shrill scream cut her off.
“Lunyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!”
The sound of rapidly approaching steps got closer and closer and then before Lunya, or anyone else for that matter, could do anything, someone jumped up from the crowd and grabbed Lunya’s arm in a panic.
“HuaA?!! Babycorn?!” Lunya was completely caught off guard and found herself struggling to keep herself balanced. She knew Babycorn was around but the last thing she expected was for Babycorn to ram right into her. “Babycorn! Okay Babycorn you can let go now! I’m here!” Lunya was now balancing on one foot for dear life.
“I was so worried! I was looking at the snacks they were selling and I took one of them when I wasn’t looking and I got in trouble for a little bit but then I said it was okay cause my friend Lunya was with me but then I turned to look at you and you were goooooooooooone!!! I was so scared! I thought you turned into a bridge again so I had to go find you!!!!!!!!!!” Babycorn loudly wailed without stopping.
Lunya finally managed to find her footing and center herself. Babycorn was still holding on to her arm very tightly. “As you can see I’m very much not a bridge! So I’m okay!” Lunya grabbed Babycorn off her arm and twirled her around, gently placing Babycorn right next to her.
It didn’t look like Babycorn noticed at all since her arms were still wrapped around thin air and shaking just like a small dog. Lunya cautiously poked Babycorn’s arm to see if she could snap her friend out of it.
“EeeEEKk!!” Babycorn shrieked then went quiet. After a few seconds it looked like she was back to normal, as if nothing had happened. “...Oh hey Butts and Pancake! When did you two get here?”
“Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.” Was the only answer Butter could give her.
Lunya looked over to Babycorn and then at Butter, she very quickly noticed the way Butter was looking at the girl literally everyone but the girl in question knew he loved. Lunya put on the most mischievous smile she could and called out to him, “Oh? What is it Butter? Did you notice something different about Babycorn?”
Somehow Lunya was also able to say “Nyehehehe :3” out loud with her mouth.
Butter looked away from Babycorn as fast as he could. “No! I mean! Yes?! I mean of course! I mean-!” Truthly what hadn’t he noticed about her?! She looked so much happier and full of life since the last time Butter had seen her, despite the scared screaming just seconds ago. There was something about the way she was rocking back and forth, her hands behind her back, looking right at him that was driving him…completely normal.
“Is that right?” Lunya :3’ed. How was she doing that?
“R-Right…!” And Butter definitely wasn’t noticing just how cute Babycorn looked with her hair tied up in a ponytail. She had never worn her hair like that before, he would have noticed! “You look really cute today Babycorn!” He suddenly blurted out.
While Butter looked mortified about what he had just said, Pancake looked like she had just won the Jumbo Cactpot. “Whoa! It sounds like you guys are gonna get married tomorrow or something!!" She yelled out for the whole world to hear.
The whole world, except for Babycorn, who was currently distracted by a dragonfly flying by her head.
“M-M-Married?! No one’s getting married! At least not right now! Ahahaha…” Butter tried to think of anything else he could say to get the conversation off the topic of his future dream wedding with Babycorn, when he remembered that Lunya had wanted to ask him something. “Right! Uh…Lunya you wanted to ask me something right?! You can go ahead and ask me that now! Like right now!!”
“Are you sure? You seem kind of busy right now?”
“I’m SURE!”
“Ooookaay!” Lunya sang aloud, she gave Pancake a knowing wink, which she was happy to return to her. “Do you remember how when I called you over here I was asking for your help with something?”
Of course he remembered! “You called me in the middle of the night to ask me if I wanted to help you run errands in Thavnair!” Lunya never specified what kind of errands he was going to run and ultimately it didn’t really matter.
All that truly mattered to Butter was that he got to do fun little tasks. And also the possibility that Babycorn would be there but that wasn’t the point.
“That’s right!” Lunya beamed, “But that’s not all I needed!”
“It’s not?”
Lunya nodded, taking a step back. “In fact…” Then without warning, the entire area around them went dark. The only light around was a spotlight shining down on Lunya. “As fair adventures we shan’t, we cannot-! Resist the calling of the start of a brand-new journey!” She threw her chakrams into the air, letting them circle around her and the crowd of people gathering around the spotlight. A trail of flower petals followed the chakrams as they flew through the air.
The charams circled all the way back into Lunya’s hands as she twirled away from the spotlight.
From behind her, all of a sudden, appeared Babycorn! Her eyes were closed shut. Babycorn raised her staff up in the air. It looked completely different than the last time Butter had seen it, it must have been a different one.
Not like Butter paid extra attention to those things or anything.  We have well established this.
Babycorn struggled for a moment but managed to find her footing. “W-We’re going to the water’s beneath the Bounty! For a very s-special reason!” Babycorn tossed her staff in the air and it came back down to hit her right on top of her head.
“Ow…” As Babycorn had said 100 times already, she was sturdy so it wasn’t long until she bounced back. “And that reason i-is-!” As Lunya slid back into the spotlight both girls stood underneath the spotlight together.
“TREA-SURE-HUNT-ING~♫”
Both girls shouted in unison, striking matching poses. It was so cool and cute that several people walking by them stopped to watch and clap for the pair.  Butter and Pancake were among them, though they weren’t really too sure what was going on.
“...Treasure hunting?”
Babycorn suddenly appeared right in front of Butter. Then without any warning, she grabbed his hands and stared right into his eyes. “Could you please come along! I’ll make sure you don’t get hurt! I promise!” Her eyes were huge and pleading right at him, visible sparkles coming off of her.
Poor Butter never really stood a chance. “Ah uh um I-! Um, uhhhhh…UHHHHH…” Butter stammered felt the entire world spinning around him.
Lunya was almost in disbelief. ‘Poor Butter…She’s practically torturing him.’ Almost. Because this sort of thing was commonplace when either of them were near each other. It was no surprise how Butter ended up falling for Babycorn as hard as he did.
“I…I would love to but I don’t know if Pancake would be okay staying here any longer.” Butter finally answered.
“That’s okay! Pancake and Cinnamon can stay in my room if she wants to!” Lunya chimed in, “And they can order all the free snacks they want! My treat.”
“Free snacks?!”
“Deal! Butter says deal!” Pancake jumped over to stand beside Lunya. “I’m with Lunya! I think you should help! Think of it Butter! All the mango smoothies I could driiiiiink!” Not only that, if they all stayed here longer then who knows what other tasty food she could try. “Please! Please! Please! Please!” Pancake put her hands together and danced around in place.
Butter was clearly outnumbered. “Okay, okay.” He looked up at Babycorn, who was still eagerly waiting for his response. “I’d be happy to help!”
“Yipppeee!!!” Babycorn cheered loudly and picked up Butter in a tight hug, spinning him around. “It’ll be fun! Trust me!!”

Coco! Coco! Help me Cocoooooooooo
As Pancake settled into her tent she noticed that Cherrypit was sitting down on the ground, chewing on a singed branch. "Cherry? I thought you said you wanted to sleep in Coco's tent" That's what Pancake could remember hearing him say anyway. Cherrypit laughed. "I am!" He helpfully explained. "Wha-?" Before Pancake could ask him what he meant she heard Coco scream. She poked her head out of the tent just in time to see him run out of his own tent, followed by another Cherrypit with a scary face on. "H-Huh...?"
Lalapril 4/13 Blazing with coco cocoda and @windupnamazu 's Pancake (and also coco cocoda)
Cherrypit opened the front door of the mansion and stumbled his way outside. In his hands he was carrying a big bag of marshmallows, something that Babycorn had told him was crucial for tonight.
It was a little dark out but Cherrypit wasn’t scared because he was gonna be in the dark with his friends.
He took a small step forward and called out for his friend. “Coconuts! Panka!” With the bag of marshmallows covering his view it was hard to see anything that wasn’t a marshmallow.
Before he knew it, the marshmallows were lifted up into the air and away from him. “I got it! Thanks Cherry!” Pancake smiled at him and led him over to where she and Coco were putting up their tents for the night.
“Are you excited to go camping, Cherry?”
Cherrypit looked up and nodded really fast. “Yeah! Yeah! I’m ex-pited!”
It had only been a few days ago when Pancake learned she would be camping outside with Coco tonight. Cherrypit had also been invited along, or more accurately he had invited himself after he heard Pancake ask Butter about going camping again, grabbing onto Pancake’s arm and joining her in asking Butter to let her sleep outside.
There was no way Butter could resist both Pancake and Cherrypit staring at him with such sad little eyes. And Babycorn couldn’t even be counted as a contender.
With the permission to go camping secured they just needed someone to chaperone them. When the idea of Coco taking Pancake and Cherrypit camping was first being tossed around, he assured both older siblings that he was an expert at this sort of stuff.
“I’ve read the official Onion Knights guide cover to cover more times than I can count!” Had been Coco’s exact words. It was a pretty hefty book too. At least, that’s what both Butter and Babycorn imagined.
Both Babycorn and Butter nodded their heads at all the different things Coco listed off that he had done. From learning to tie knots, learning how to make a campfire and sleeping outside in tents. It sounded really exciting and exactly what Pancake had been asking for weeks now.
The only question was how did she find out Coco had even done this stuff in the first place?
A question for another day probably.
The only real obstacle to overcome now was the tiny little problem that Babycorn and Cherrypit had where they couldn’t really go anywhere without the other. A problem that was quickly solved when Butter suggested that they could go camping nearby.
Which ended up being the front lawn of the mansion.
Neither Pancake or Cherrypit were disappointed with that. The two of them couldn’t have been more excited about it.
Tonight was finally the night. Pancake couldn’t stop talking about it since morning.
When Pancake walked back to the tents with Cherrypit she noticed that Coco was gone. “Huh? Where did he go?” She looked around everywhere for any sign of his fluffy little head but he was nowhere to be seen. “...Do you think a Spriggan ate him?”
“Bahbah!” Cherrypit helpfully added.
“You’re right he would probably be too fuzzy to eat.”
As Pancake started to wonder if the bird she had seen circling the house was a seagull or not she noticed something moving underneath the tent. “Woah! What the-!?” She took a step back and made sure to get in front of Cherrypit to keep him safe. That didn’t do much to deter Cherrypit from jumping into action.
Pancake barely even noticed Cherrypit running under her arm and right towards the tent.
“Cherry wait!”
Cherrypit happily babbled as he pulled the tent away and revealed what it was exactly that had been under the suspiciously shaped Coco Cocoda lump.
Unsurprisingly it was indeed Coco. “Uwah!!” Coco uwah’ed in shock. He was convinced that he was going to be trapped inside of the tent for the rest of his life. “Oh hi guys!” Coco waved at Pancake and Cherrypit, then he jumped to his feet and placed his hands on his hips. “Glad you could join us tonight Cherry!”
Pancake couldn’t help but think that Coco sounded pretty confident for some guy who had just a few seconds ago been trapped inside of an unmade tent.
“I told you! It’s part of the process!” Coco insisted.
Cherrypit paid Coco no mind as he grabbed a fistful of tent and began chewing on it.
Taking things out of Cherrypit’s (and babycorn’s) mouth was pretty much second nature now to everyone who spent a lot of time with them. So Coco pulled the tent out of Cherrypit’s mouth as he continued to explain why the tent still wasn’t set up. “I accidentally dropped something I needed for the tent and I’ve been looking for it. No sign of it yet though.” He’d be looking for it ever since Pancake went to go fetch Cherrypit.
“Ooohh.”  Pancake stared down at the ground to help Coco look for whatever it was he was looking for.
Completely on a whim Pancake decided to take a closer look at Coco. That’s when she noticed a strange object sticking out of his hair. “Hey what’s that in your hair?!” Pancake suddenly shouted.
“Wahuh?” Coco gasped and ruffled around his hair. Until he found the very thing he was looking for. To Pancake it just looked like some sort of weird stick, unsure what it was for.
Coco beamed, “Yeah that’s it! Thank you!”
“You’re welcome! Yay!” Pancake was just happy to help.
As Coco began to demonstrate how to set the tent up, Pancake noticed something. Coco was wearing all sorts of funny buttons on his shirt. “Wooaaahh! What’s that?” Pancake pointed right at them, “Are they really fancy buttons? Where’d you find them? Did you buy them somewhere?” It was so odd, some of them had really cool pictures on them and there were so many of them.
“Oh!” Coco was stopped mid explanation but he didn’t mind. “These are my merit badges!”
“Wow…What’s that?” Pancake asked.
As Coco picked out some grass from Cherrypit’s mouth he continued to explain. “They’re like special pins that you get from doing something really cool!” His eyes sparkled with glee, a sharp contrast to how his eyes usually looked. Which was more like a crying cat.
“Neat!” Pancake pointed at a badge with a lightning bolt on it. “What’s this one for?” Maybe it was for running really fast. Like-quick as a lightning flash kind of thing?
Coco scoffed, “That one was for surviving a thunderstorm.”
“Huh?” That sounded kind of cool but not really that much of a feat. She had technically done that too but from inside her house. She pointed at another badge with a bee on it. “What about this one?” Maybe that one was for beekeeping?
“That one’s for stepping on a bee!”
“Is that so…?” That last one didn’t sound cool at all. It sounded like something that people would make fun of him for years after the fact. Definitely not badge worthy. “What’s this one?” Pancake asked. They did say that the third time was the charm.
“I got this one for surviving sinking in quicksand!” Coco looked particularly proud of that one.
“I see.” While that one did sound a little impressive there was still the fact that Coco had walked into quicksand in the first place. “These sound...Really specific.”
“Well yeah they’re for really specific things!”
“Is there a Being an adorable girl named Pancake badge?”
“They’re not that specific.”
Pancake rolled her eyes, if that was the case why have them be specific if they’re not too specific? She took another look at the badges and pointed at yet another one. This one had a picture of a bear on it. It looked really cute, not as cute as her stuffed animals of course but still cute.
“Well there was this time that a bear rampaged through our tents and...”
“A bear?! Are we going to get to fight a bear?!” Pancake shouted in disbelief. This was the one badge that actually sounded cool. “Did you get it cause you fought the bear!?”
Cherrypit looked at Pancake in surprise and then at Coco, with his eyes shimmering in anticipation. “Bear? We fight a bear?” He had a big teddy bear at home so if he got to meet the real thing that would be really exciting!
“No, no!” Coco waved his hands in a panic in front of him. “I got it because I managed to make sure the bear didn’t eat our lunches!”
“Oooh…” Not as cool as she thought. Pancake turned away from Coco with a smirk and whispered to Cherrypit. “Is there one for being a big sucker in love without knowing it?” She giggled to herself, while Cherrypit was really confused about Pancake’s gossip.
“What was that?” Coco asked, trying to hoist up the tent.
“NOTHING!”
Smooth.
Tumblr media
Eventually the tent had been pitched and the snacks had been gathered around them. Cherrypit had wasted no time and had opened the bag of marshmallows as quickly as he could. He took a handful of them and happily ate them in one big bite.
“Don’t eat too many Cherry.” Coco gently warned him, “If you eat them all we won’t have any left over for roasting them by the campfire!”
Cherrypit immediately understood what Coco was talking about. He nodded and spit out the marshmallows he had eaten, they were completely intact. “Here! Marshmallow!” He handed them over to Coco for safekeeping.
“I…” Coco grabbed one of the handy tins he had grabbed from the kitchen and held it under the marshmallows, “Just drop them in here. Okay?” Cherrypit did exactly what Coco said to do and laughed as the marshmallows fell into the bowl. They reminded him of eyeballs, just like grapes did.
Pancake sneakily took the bag of marshmallows away from Cherrypit just in case that he forgot he wasn’t supposed to eat them yet. “How are we supposed to roast marshmallows if we don’t have a fire?” There was a pile of logs in front of them but they were very distinctly not on fire.
Coco was ready for that too. “That’s exactly what we’re going to do next!” Behind Coco's back appeared a pair of sticks and what looked like a rock. “We’re going to learn how to start a campfire-!”
“Yaaaaay!!” Cherrypit cheered. He looooooooooooved fire! It was so fun to start and to play with!
“-Without magic!” Coco happily picked up a pair of sticks and wiggled them around.
Cherrypit instantly set his arms down with a pout.
Pancake gave Cherrypit a sympathetic pat on the head. “There, there. It's gonna be a lot of fun!” She was trying her best to cheer Cherrypit up but she’d be lying if it wasn’t cute the way he was crossing his arms and trying to look really mad.
Pancake couldn’t help give a little snort of laughter when Cherrypit stuck his tongue at Coco.
Coco was turned around so he couldn’t see what Cherrypit was doing.
“Don’t worry I’ve started a fire like this before so this’ll be quick!” Coco smiled and got to work on trying to figure out how to start a fire from the things he had brought with him. Cherrypit still thought starting a fire with magic would be easier and funner than this.
The aura of pure confidence coming off of Coco was unnerving Pancake a little, but she kept that thought to herself. When minutes upon minutes went by of Coco still trying to light a fire she was starting to feel bad for him. “Are you sure you can do it?” She asked.
“O-Of course!” Now Coco ‘s eyes were the familiar watery looking that Pancake was used to. He pointed to another badge on his shirt. “See? You can see I got the merit badge for starting a fire so I'm not lying I promise. :(”
“Heh. Must have started it with your eyes closed…” Pancake mumbled.
“What was that?”
“NOTHING!”
Another save for Pancake.
As time marched on without any sign of a fire Pancake was getting kind of bored. As she stopped Cherrypit from eating grass for the umpteenth time she had a thought. “Hey. Can I try lighting the campfire?” Tossing the grass in her hand aside she scooted over closer to Coco.
Coco was very tired at this point so he was more than willing to let someone else try. “Sure…Go ahead!” He handed Pancake the sticks and collapsed onto the ground next to her. Cherrypit was quick to climb on his back and pat him like he was a small horse.
Coco opened up only one of his eyes, watching Pancake closely. Thinking he was soooo cool for sneaky plan of his.
“Okay!” Pancake concentrated and tried to remember the movements that Coco had been doing earlier. While she may have been bored out of her mind during Coco’s efforts it's not like she wasn’t paying attention. Pancake took the sticks in both hands and copied Coco’s movements closely. For a few seconds it looked like she was going to have to have the same results as Coco did but that’s when they all saw it.
A spark, and then some smoke. “Ah! I did it! I’m doing it!” Pancake cheered.
“You’re doing it!” Coco cheered alongside her as he adjusted the sticks on the pile. From a relatively safe distance He knew from the start this awesome and amazing and well thought out plan of his would work.
Sitting next to him, Cherrypit happily clapped along. The fire could be a lot bigger but Pancake had still made it happen all by herself, she was more than happy, she was elated.
Cherrypit clapped for Pancake and ran around her, cheering for her, “Panka! Panka! Yaaaay! Panka!” He thought Pancake learned to do fire magic too! Just like him!
Cherrypit was so excited about the fire and how they could roast marshmallows now that he ran over, grabbed the bag of marshmallows and threw the entire thing in the fire.
“Ah.”
“Ah.”
“Waaahahahaha!!!” Cherrypit cheered as the marshmallows burst into flames.
