This is my 29th Headcanon But I Wanted To Do A Separate Post On It So-

Once, Wu heard some noises at night, went to the living room, and walked in on the six just hanging out in the dark because they all couldn’t sleep. They just couldn't.

Without even turning the light on,(they all could see pretty well in the dark) Wu just stood there and stared for about 30 seconds, before, still without turning the lights on, he went to the kitchen and came back with this certain tea he has that helps people sleep.

He had to give it to each of the six on their first nights in the monastery, and now he did it again.

This was the first time he had to give it to them since then, but Wu knew it wouldn’t be the last.

So Wu’s stocked up on the Sleeping Tea and after the Merge Lloyd finds his uncle’s huge stock of it and cries because he and others never knew about it, they just knew that Wu always had some for them.

Ninjago Headcanons 26-28

26:

All the ninja all use ‘Sensei’, 'Sensei Wu’, ‘Master’, ‘Master Wu’ interchangeably.

Lloyd, however, can and will sometimes say ‘Uncle’ or ‘Uncle Wu’.

(After s10,)

The first time Lord Garmadon heard Lloyd say it, He stopped and stared for five whole minutes while Wu and Lloyd ignored it.

And the other five SOMEHOW succeeded in not falling over and laughing.

27:

Master Wu has a really intimidating glare. 

Like, really scary.

It’s one of the few things the six share a fear of: being on the end of that glare.

They’ve seen people get intimidated with it and are glad they’ve rarely provoked it. 

Wu knows how to do this glare, how to control it, and when to utilize it. He got it from his father, FSM.

He hates it when the six do something that makes him do ‘The Glare’ at them

Lloyd will probably learn how to do the glare too, and Sensei Garmadon could, but Lord Garmadon can’t.

It drives him crazy. 

28:

Being part Yōkai, Wu has urges to and will grab each of the six by the back of their shirt collars, except Lloyd, because he can grab Lloyd by the scruff, since Lloyd is also Yōkai.

In other words, he ‘scruffs’ them.  He has done it before to each and will do it again

He also did it with Morro.

Garm used to do it on him when they were younger and FSM did it on both of them.

This goes with my headcanon that Cole is “magic” when it comes to getting people to sleep/keeping them asleep because he’s so comfortable and will hum to you to get you back to sleep…and sometimes rock them

Ok headcanon there’s a plan for the ninja to pretend to be llyod (mostly Nya, jay cause he’s fast and Kai) so they take on of Lloyd’s ninja uniforms (depending on who it is they will take different ones like Kai will take the og subconsciously, Nya will take the one she wore to trick morro and jay will take a recent extra one) they also have a green rain jacket with a hood they will all wear pretending to be llyod in plan clothes

Cole is really bad at lying. Idk it just feels right- I don't think he's good at it, he's to truthful for it

He probably would feel to guilty if he lied - I mean yeah he's capable of it, but he don't like it, even if it's a white lie

Okay but here me out-

It's pretty much agreed on that all the Ninja more or less grew up in different cultures right?

SO like what if they all refer to one thing as a different word, yet they all mean the same thing.

So like the living room for example- I feel like Cole would call it a parlor (bc of his dad) whilst Jay and Zane would prolly call it the main room, as they grew up in small homes. Kai and Nya would prolly call it the living room, as that's what their parents called it (maybe idk). While Lloyd would call it the common space/area (as at Darkley's, the common area was the only neutral truce-y kind of area)

There was a h u g e soda vs pop debate too, dw.

Jay says jimmy's instead of sprinkles, which annoyed the absolute fuck out of Kai for the longest time.

many of us give Cole locs or twists down at his shoulders or right below his chin because vibes and also his lego hairpiece but CONSIDER Artist Lilly Brookstone making and painting porcelain beads to put in his hair. consider that his hair was quite long and when his mom died he wanted to save the beads but couldn't bear to see them everyday anymore. perhaps he kept them in a box and would think about putting them on jewelry but pull out last minute when he remembers he could lose them.

maybe he tried wearing his hair natural, in braids, and even defining his curls for some dance productions. by the time he joins the monastery full time, he's gone back to twists for some familiarity in the strange world he'd entered into.

but when his hair starts to gray he's only in his mid thirties (the stress of saving the world has been getting to him). and, after coming home one weekend, he realizes he hasn't seen the beads in years. misty-eyed at the sight of them, realizing he can't bear to be without them anymore. he can't recall his mom's face as quickly as he once could. now the reminder would be a comfort.

stepping out into the kitchen, holding the small box, his puffy eyes locked with his father's. he lifts the lid to display the contents and asks what he thinks. Lou's eyes water and he can't help but place the box aside and hug Cole. "Your dad hasn't had practice in almost twenty years, but if you can put up with that I'd love to help."

every time someone asks him where he got the beads that hang by his collarbone, Cole just laughs. "Have your mom make you some," he says, "these are one of a kind."

Zane is a good cook bc he's extremely good at differentiating flavor profiles and has a good enough memory bank of what food works best together that he can make dinner from scratch, no recipie Involved, and have it be 5-star gourmet. When he tastes his own cooking, he can easily identify what it needs to take it to the next level.

Jay CAN cook bc Ma Walker is definitely the type of lady that would stick Jay in the kitchen to help, but he's not super confident. He has like 5 recipies on LOCK (spaghetti, tacos, chicken Alfredo, chicken noodle soup, and meatloaf) but is completely unsure about anything new. He makes mash potatos from the instant add-hot-water packages and didn't even know you could do it another way

Kai is good at cooking in a nostalgic, weird childhood foods type of way. Spaghetti with hot dogs chopped up in it, noodles and tomato sauce, tuna casserole- that realm of weird but cheap. He can typically look in the cabinets and come up with something without buying any extra ingredients, and it's usually not half bad. He tends not to like his own food even if everyone else enjoys it tho, strangely enough

Nya can't cook lol. She's a master at frozen meals tho. She can pop some chicken nuggets or a pizza in the oven with the best of them I'm sure

Lloyd is an okay cook, but he always adds a sweet component to his foods that are hit or miss for the others. He just likes his meals on the sweet side, no savory or salty for him. There's a salt shaker filled with sugar for him on the table

Cole is a bad cook but it's really not his fault. His dad is an AWFUL AWFUL cook and Cole grew up eating his food- and now that's what he likes. Over cooked, dry chicken? Mushy mac and cheese? Burnt vegetables? That's just coles' normal. The first time he had well cooked, juicy chicken it grossed him out bc it felt like he was eating it raw

The eye is not Kai's, I just wanted to draw that.

As for the last one and my previous post, I interpret it as a representation of Kai's negative emotions as well as his hatred for the world and how he was treated (he wouldn't be so fucked up if people actually cared about him and helped him). It was the staff of elements that created it and Kai sometimes hears its voice or sees it in the mirror. Later on it appears less, however certain situations can trigger it and I think it's one of the reasons why Kai would turn evil.

Also his eyes turn deep red like with the staff sometimes because of it (yes, even his fake, crystal eye, I don't know how but it's cool)

A little Kai headcanon of mine

I think Kai would be able to play the flute, I dunno why, but I think it'd be a hobby he happens to like, even if he wasn't able to do it much as a kid, I'd like to think that he made his own wooden flute and learned to play it in the small amount of freetime he had(and now has)

Also I think Cole would secretly listen in on Kai playing it in his room by himself when he thought nobody was listening/wasn't home :]

since im bored like shit rn here are some ninja hc's i have :)

JAY:

-Likes having his long curly hair more than his short ginger hair

-Left ear piercing

-Snake fangs (from his date w/ Nya during S1)

-Heterochromia (brown and blue)

-Randomly finds white hairs on his head (bc of his prime empire avatar)

-Anxiety and ADHD

-In his early 20's

KAI:

-Red marks around his eyes from holding Chen's staff

-Covered in scars and burns

-Vitiligo on his hands and arms

-Aquaphobia (side note but didn't he have aquaphobia in possession and it just like....went away...???)

ZANE:

-His body temp is always cold

-Gets a LOT of scratches (mostly on his hands)

-Loves bracelets (him and Nya make bracelets together)

-Dreads ( I STAN BLASIAN COLE)

-The nicest out of the ninja

-Really strong even tho he barley works out (his elemental power enhances his strength)

-Right eye is dark green after being a ghost

-His green eye glows orange while he uses his earth punch

LLOYD:

-Teenager (19)

-Pointy ears

-He's naturally has brown hair but he dyed it while he was at darkley's

-Hidden dragon tail and Oni horns (After crystalized he stopped hiding them)

-Sharp fangs from Oni side

-Smooth skin

-Has the least amount of scars

NYA:

-Eyes glow azure after seabound

-Naturally smooth skin

-Hates having long nails so she bites them down

-A lot of scars and scratches

-Has blue water markings on her body

Ninjago headcanon

the ninjas have codes that they are supposed to use only in emergencies. There are also some specific codes in place that llyod doesn't know to keep him safe. when the code is said the ninjas are supposed to take llyod somewhere safe by any means necessary. even if it means knocking him out to do it. they also split up and have a distraction and have points there spose to meet and switch off with llyod from person to person in "meeting points" (they have a lot thought the city) while the others distract the enemy

Sorry for the delay. You asked mostly for Kai's so I delivered. If anyone wants more hcs about the others I can work on it some time in the future (I also have more of Kai).

Now the hcs:

• All the ninja have PTSD from everything they’ve been through

• And abandonment issues

• Cole has an eating disorder and eats when he’s stressed, this is one of the reasons he is very insecure of his weight. People online poke at him for it

• Jay's terrified of losing his loved ones again because of him. That is another reason why he went absolutely crazy post Seabound, as he thinks it was his fault Nya had to resort to sacrificing herself

• He used to be bullied for living in a junkyard before becoming a ninja and that's why he was ashamed of it

• Zane always shoves down everything wrong that happens to him (e.g being the Ice Emperor for way too long to be ok about it) because he puts the team and their needs first.

• Nya has nightmares from the time she died in skybound but doesn't tell anyone.

• She had to keep her work and love life secret from her brother for fear that he would shut her down to protect her. Her fear persisted well into s1 and that's why she felt she had to hide Samurai X even from Kai

• Lloyd still admires his uncle despite his obsession with the green ninja (and all the neglect that came with it) because he's the only relative that actually took him in

• All of the ninja have at some point hidden an injury at least once. But Kai and Nya are the ones that do it more often (Nya specially when she was samurai X), and know how to treat mild wounds because of it.

• Kai and Nya do physical activities when they’re stressed or have emotions they don’t want to process. They can do their thing like Kai working in the forge and Nya doing mechanics but they usually train, however they can go on for hours (Kai has passed out a few times)

• Kai and Zane have a very poor sense of self. Zane’s comes from him not valuing his life and thinking he’s expendable since he can be rebuilt, ignoring all the trauma that comes from getting severely hurt or “dying”. Kai has problems seeing his worth as a human being because he’s never lived for himself; everything he does is for someone else and so he thinks his value resides in what he can do for other people. 

• Kai is terrified of the idea of being alone, it’s his worst fear.

• He has THE WORST coping mechanisms and Zane is confused on how his body was able to go through all of them (Alcoholism, illegal fights, smoking…)

• Kai is an insomniac, he barely sleeps most nights and instead just waits until he passes out (He has very deep eyebags because of it but hides them with make up, covering his freckles too). He sometimes bumps into some other ninja at night since they all have fucked up sleep schedules. 

• Lloyd also has a lot of problems sleeping because of nightmares and goes to Kai or Nya’s room where he feels safer (mostly into Kai’s). Sometimes they stay up at night chilling or they try to sleep. In those cases the nights with Lloyd are the ones where Kai sleeps the most because he feels safer too.

• Kai has chronic depression because of his fucked up childhood

• Lloyd thought he had depression too for a while but it turned out to be autistic burnout because of the stress of being the green ninja. But he can’t properly rest or heal from the burnout so he’s exhausted most of the time.

• When he’s stressed Kai forgets to eat and can go days with very little food because he’s used to it from being poor in his childhood.

• Genuinely forgot what it feels like to be a kid and have no responsibilities so it’s his personal mission to not let that happen to Lloyd. Kai would be devastated if Lloyd ended up like him.

• Kai sometimes feels insecure about his face scars and contemplates hiding them with make up.

• Kai’s touch starved but terrified of letting people in.

• He hides his negative emotions as anger and when the others try to reach out to him he pushes them away by getting angry at them until it's mutual and they leave him alone.

• Never told the others about what he did after Zane’s “death”. He fixed himself up, alone.

cole had a tough childhood, his mom died when he was young, his dad was neglectful and he was left to take care of himself until wu took him in.

this has definitely impacted the way that he acts throughout the show, so i made a list of things that he does which i believe are linked to his childhood

-he talks to himself when hes anxious and/or when hes left by himself. every single time we see cole alone he starts anxiously talking to himself as a way of coping, its so extreme to the point where the guards of his jail cell called him out on it at one point. i believe this is because when his mom died , his father wasnt there to comfort him, and he didnt have anybody to help him deal with his grief, so to cope with that he would talk to himself. additionally i think that he has developed separation anxiety from the other ninja, when he moved into the monastery he went from being all alone to sharing a room with 3 other boys and he became dependent on them, this is why he seems so upset when he is seperated from the group, and why he tries to soothe himself by talking to himself as if he were havingns conversation with another person. also something worth noting: not only does he adress himself by his name when talking to himself, but he also argues with himself a weird amount? he pretends that somebody else is their arguing with him but its really him talking for both sides.

we can even see him talking to himself while the others are present in some instances, specifically went he FEELS alone or outcasted. he did this when he was a ghost sometimes, probably because he felt like he wasnt a part of the group because his ghost form limited his ability to help them in a lot of ways, as well as made it harder for them to notice him sometimes (which is how it took them so long to notice he was gone in day of the departed). you can also see him doing this after he interrupted nya when she was learning to control ice. he had become convinced that the others hated him and he felt lonely, he went to confide in nya seeking support. however when he entered the room, he distracted her and she messed up after she was finally about to succeed. in his mind the boys already hated him, and nya was furious with him for messing her up (in reality nobody was mad at him, he was just being paranoid), so he felt alone even though he was still in the room with nya. he begins speaking to himself, which he normally only does when he is seperated from his friends, however his friends were still with him. cole says something along the lines of, "stupid cole, you ruin everything!" and he storms off again

-scared of losing people. at multiple points during the show he is shown to be afraid of losing people to a much greater extent then the other ninja, there is even a scene where he is arguing with jay about looking for wu where he outright yells "i cant lose anybody else" . this is because he lost his mother and he feels like he lost his father when he left cole to take care of himself as a child. he sees wu as a father figure because he supported him in ways his real father never did. so the thought of giving up on wu and losing him was much more troubling for him because he has already lose 2 parents, one to illness and one to grief.

-he is terrified of letting people down. he thinks that his father not being present in his life is his own fault because he was a disappointment, this led him to have a fear that if he let anybody down that they would leave him. we see this manifested in "the day of the departed" when he worries that his friends have left him there by himself because they dont care about him anymore and that he did something wrong

-this one kind of builds off of the other one, but he has NIGHTMARES about letting people down and his friends hating him for his mistakes. these nightmares get so upsetting that he screams in his sleep and wakes up still screaming. the reason that i believe that this happens frequently even though we only see it once in the show is based off of how everybody else reacted to it. they both handled the situation as if they knew exactly what was happening and how to deal with it, like it was a frequent occurance.

it starts with cole screaming in his sleep. jay, instead of panicking, wakes him up and assures him that everything is okay. then kai, who had woken up to the sound of his friend screaming, was completely unfazed by the entire ordeal, as if this was something that he was used to. he immediately knew cole was freaking out because he had a nightmare that upset him, and assured him that it was just a dream and everything is okay. when cole starts yelling at them for how they treated him in his dream, instead of telling him that it never really happened and dismissing him, jay starts comforting him by telling him that they are not upset at him for losing the tea and that they understand that mistakes happen. this shows that jay knows that cole worries a lot about letting them down and them being mad at him, he also knows that is what his nightmares are about, he knows exactly what cole needs to hear. instead of getting defensive at the angry yelling, he responds calmly by addressing what he knows that cole is upset about. when cole storms off, clearly still upset, jay stops and questions if he should let cole have some alone time, or if he should go chase after him to try to make him feel better. kai however, still unbothered, says "he'll calm down eventually", as if he knows that is what will happen, possibly because it happens a lot? the only explanation as to how they would both be so casual and also know exactly what to do in such a crazy situation is that this is a reoccurring thing

also this:

-the reason that he is so responsible is very likely to be linked to him being forced to take care of himself and his home since his father was never there. he was forced to rise up as the responsible one in that situation despite only being a child at the time, this is why he feels like he needs to be the responsible one a lot of the time

-also he has a fear of singing, which i think is because he associates it with him forcing himself to do things that he did not enjoy and was not good at in order to get validation from his father and being constantly pressured by his father to basically be a mini version of him rather than his own person. he also probably thinks of it as the thing that stole his father from him. because his dad would leave cole to take care of himself and he would go off with his group and sing at a time where his son needed him the most, he's probably resentful of singing because of that. however we see that he eventually gets over his fear and you can see him having fun singing with his friends. i believe that this is because he had so many new experiences singing while surrounded by people he cared about, that he no longer thought of it as the thing that stole his dad from him, he thinks of it as a fun thing he can do with his friends. he remembers singing the baby wu to sleep, he remembers singing obnoxiously at the karaoke and annoying the enemies while zane was present, and he remembers celebrating them saving the world by going to karaoke with his friends and having fun with the people he cares about. his brain created a new association for it in his head and that is what made him get over his fear
