Shanks meeting the strawhats properly for the first time. And he sees how Sanji looks at Zoro, it's all to familiar. It squeezes his heart with a death grip. That's how he used to look at mihawk after all. He remember the pain he felt as he loved the man who became the greatest swordsman. He remembered their argument. Then he saw how Zoro looked at Sanji and his pain got caught in his throat. Zoro loved Sanji just as much. He knew from Luffy that the swordsman was ambitious and selfish. So why did he look ready to give up everything for the blonde. Before he could stop himself he walked over. Purpose with every step. Legs heavy with old heartbreak. And as the words that he had spoken all those years ago came out his mouth he looked at Zoro dead in the eye.

"Would you give up your love to be the strongest"

Zoro froze his drinking, slowly sitting up and putting down his mug. Wipping his mouth with the back of his mouth as he looked at the red-haired man. His gaze was relaxed and a little too knowing for Shanks liking.
