The Collector (2009)

Let me tell you HOW EXCITED I was to start this movie. There's many theories on how this could be related or connected into the Saw universe. And Saw is one of my FAVORITE horror franchises. I've been hyperfixated on it since I was about 2013-2014. Before starting this my only knowledge of it was that it is *very* similar to Saw, which is one of the reasons I wanted to watch this.

Desperate for money to pay off a debt, a man targets a wealthy family's home and plans to break in and steal a valuable gem. He soon learns that he picked the wrong night to carry out his plans, for a masked madman has gotten there first, imprisoned the family, and lined the mansion with deadly traps.

I tend to go into movies with lower expectations and this one was way above any expectations I could've had. I see where the theories come from and I sense the truth in it. I REALLY enjoyed this movie and didn't have much to complain about. The idea of describing it as similar to Saw, is more like Saw but with less of that (and I hate this phrase a lot) torture porn feel. Still has its aspects of it, but, a lot more dulled down than Saw. Either way, The Collector was a beautifully filmed movie and I will be finding myself watching the second movie very soon.

Incident In A Ghostland

Sixteen years after a traumatic event, a mother and two daughters reunite at the house where it happened. But soon their reunion starts to take a bizarre turn.

The opening sequence is beautifully done. It really grasped on the whole experience and trauma they went through. The way Beth's trauma is portrayed through the cut between her screaming as a teen to waking up in morning as an adult, is a wonderful portrayal.

This movie as a whole provided a sense of anxiety throughout it and I enjoyed that.

Overall I thought the movie was very good.
