Love to see another Sui-no-Sato Raen WoL! You're the only other one I've seen that I recall. I had a similar reaction to the one you described after learning about the town; I play Astrologian, and the idea of a character who never saw the night sky immediately becoming obsessed with the stars and taking up Astrology after seeing them for the first time hit me like a freight train. I'd already been playing a Raen (because my character creation goal was to be as spiky as possible) so it was a perfect storm of coincidence.

That's amazing! I love that take on someone picking up astro, maybe you feel the same as me, but I think while the underwater city trope is not unheard of rarely is it expanded upon.

These are people who dont know what a tree looks like, they only know aquatic life, they only know the waves and coral and kelp, their world is Entirely different! Thats what I based Roku on, the idea that this is someone who comes from a world that might as well be alien to those on the surface, and how that affects someone and their worldview. It's just so deeply emotional to me!!
