Donât Shoot | Nate & Chris
hfchristopherâ:â
Despite himself, Chris wanted to laugh. Â A coy smile rounded his lips and he inclined his head. Â âThatâs a good line,â he said. Â âYou got any more of those in the cylinder?â
Chris leaned back against the island, staring at his unwanted guest and, slowly, he flicked the lights on. Â A spray of brilliant light streamed out from above, almost blinding after the near-darkness of their early encounter. Â But maybe that was just a human weakness. Â He tilted his head in some curiosity, watching the werewolf before him. Â Did he flinch? Â Or was that just Chrisâ imagination?
Like his siblings, Chris viewed Nate as a resource.  Unlike them, he viewed him as a resource for better understanding of how to hunt.  Oh, he didnât want to hunt Nate â say the wolf went feral, well, heâd put him down, of course, but heâd hate it: he did feel some sense ofâŠgratitude, perhaps?  Or simply familiarity?  Towards Nate.  After all, Chris knew good and well that if Nate had wanted to hurt his sisters, heâd had ample opportunity, but he couldnât help the agitation he felt to find a monster â even a friendly one â creeping around their home in the dark.  This was the one sanctuary that was sacred as far as Chris was concerned, and its walls had just been breached.
Still, he considered, turning the key over his hand, Nate hadnât broken in. Â He had this key from somewhere and, even if heâd stolen it â which his silence made Chris believe he likely had â Chris also knew good and well he hadnât had to go to the trouble. Â Sighing, he placed the copper token on the island behind him instead of pocketing, as heâd originally intended to do. Â It was better than a broken window, he reasoned. Â Still, he remained between Nate and the key. Â He didnât want Nate feeling too comfortable with it.
Grinning again as Nate threw out his rebuke, he chuckled â a soft sound but not as friendly as it might have been. Â Evidently, he did have more in the cylinder. Â âWell, we all gotta get our kicks somehow.â Â He paused, eyeing the wolf for a moment before, at last, he nodded, and tilted his head towards the bridge. Â âWant a drink? Â Iâm about to lay down some ground rules, so you may as well.â Â He raised his own drink to his lips. Â âWhen Emma gets here, youâre going to sit down at that table, there.â Â He flicked his eyes towards the kitchen table. Â âIf she invites you up to her room, thatâs fine, but only if she invites you and you will under no circumstances close that door. Â And Iâm not talking a crack open, here. Â That suckerâs gonna be swinging wide. Â Got it?â
Untrusting as that all sounded, when it came to the safety of his sisters with a known monster, even this level of precaution showcased a great deal of trust â but youâd never know if, watching Chrisâ stance, expression, or even his words. And he preferred it that way.
Chris exhaled slowly, nodding as Nate spoke, his fingers tapping thoughtfully against the stone counter behind him.  âYeah, that was my thought, too. But there havenât been others.  Just these six, right here in Hidden Falls, centered on that bridge.  Seems a vamp camped out for a bit.â  He paused, exhaling slowly.  âAnd then, something else did happen.â  His brows arched significantly, waiting to see how Nate would react â was this really news to him?  âWhen the snows cleared, they found a new string of bodies.â  He straightened from his lean.  âAnd hereâs where the story gets interesting, Iâll admit, because you donât usually run into two big predators going on a streak all at once in exactly the same place.  You see, those bodies, buried in the snow?  Well, they were clearly the work of a werewolf.â  His green hues landed on Nateâs, holding his gaze.  âWhatcha think of that?â
Heâd noticed Nateâs careful, parced words as he spoke of the vamp attack.  Was he protecting the wolf, trying to keep Chris looking at the bridge murders? Â
âBuddy of yours, Warner?â
Chris had no idea how ironic his assumptions really were.
âHey, Iâm only an animal some of the time. You know itâs kinda offensive you are surprised that I can be witty?â He was teasing him again, but his tone was a little more lighthearted than it had been, moments ago. He noted the genuine smile from Chris and the fact that he hadnât yet pocketed the house key.
He hadnât been expecting an offer to drink with him, either, but he wasnât about to pass it up (either it was a peace offering ... or he was going to need that drink).
âIâll never say no to that,â He said, taking a seat at the island. Chris had clearly relented: the fact that he was going to let him stay to meet Emma meant more than anything else heâd said or done thus far. If he truly felt that there was any threat from Nate, he knew he wouldnât still be here. âIâll agree to those terms.â He replied, âYour house, your rules.â
It wasnât like that between them anyway: they were friends and Nate had no interest in giving Emma any impressions that there was anything more between them. Sometimes it felt like maybe she was hoping for more from their relationship, but Nateâs heart was firmly planted elsewhere and he did his best to avoid doing anything that might seem like encouragement. (Besides, he was probably pushing his luck with Chris Wilson and their relationship, as it was).
Nate was finally feeling easy about the situation when Chris brought up the fact that more bodies had been discovered: but this time it had been a werewolf who attacked them. This was the first time Nate had heard of it, but he trusted Chrisâs expertise enough to know that if he believed a werewolf attack to be the cause of it, it most likely was.
âWe chain ourselves up. Every one of us. Often together or with someone else there to make sure that nothing happens --- " His voice trailed. This month the storm did keep a lot of them from having someone else around: the roads quickly became impassable and were not easily traveled. Nate knew it was not him, but it could have just as easily have been him as anyone else.
If someone had gotten out and escaped, they had not said a word about it and Nate didnât mean to give any of them up: unless he were to discover that it had been a conscious choice.Â
âIâm sorry. I donât know anything about it.â
Whether or not Chris was going to believe him, was another story.

OOC | Will & NateÂ
hfwillâ:
tbh i feel like the reverse is also true!!!! Â like, i donât think will honestly thinks about nate that much tbh, but i think heâs like
and âits as nate as the nose on plainâs faceâ etc in general regarding actually lots of ppl nate and like???? doesnât always remember exactly who he is ngl alkjsafkljdsf and heâs also reaLLY confused why violetâs siblings would choose to hang out w that dude but????? it just shows how bad their taste really is and thus confirms everything he thought to be true about them (tacky newbies etc) bc every vampire worth their salt knows that werewolves are gross sdlkfjskdjfkd and will will say so bc will is nothing if not compassionate <3
but yessss!!!  i agree!!  i think the alexandersâ place is where they run into e/oâŠwhich tbf i think nick and lucy both go to nateâs more than he comes to theirs bc, well, nick would say its a chamber of horrors soooo laksjdfjkldsf
omg you knowwww the snark is real sdlkafjslkjdf and i apologize in advance for will bcâŠsighâŠnateâs gonna hit him with that and willâs gonna fire right back w âahh, but at least i got the girl.  you do realize its never gonna happen for you, of course,â etc and basically get petty af bc of who will is as a person *facepalm*  me: âdude ur 700 act ur ageâ him: *isildur voice* ânoâ
oh! also! how did nate become awerewolf? Â was he born one? Â attacked? Â drank water out of a footprint? Â idk if itâll ever come up tbf but i think will has more respect for those who were attacked bc its more similar to vampiric turnings laksjdfkljsdf smdh not that he has a ~ton of respect for any werewolf but alsdkjfkljsdf here we are
i cry b/c also their lifestyles in general are so vastly different!!! Like Will is particular about the thread count in his sheets and Nate sleeps on a mattress he found in a dumpster and I feel like on those grounds alone they would be like ???????? about
HAHA yeah you are definitely right that Nate tends to let the Alexanders come to him and everyone involved finds that to be preferable but yeah sometimes he does find himself needing to seek them out and thatâs probably when they interact.
hmmm yeah yikes nate will not appreciate him rubbing it in his face that heâs got the girl and nate doesnât -- especially since will doesnât really care if he has this girl or not????
anyway, i think that nate actually was born this way so ... thereâs even less respect between them now ;DDD

One minute Nate was on his couch (or at least the remnants of one) halfway through his second beer of the night, and the next Lucy was suddenly in his house dressed to the nines, describing the events of her evening.Â
âWhat, no hello?â He smirked, âAll those fancy schools and none of you know how to knock.â
It was not uncommon for either Lucy or Nick to show up unannounced and mid-rant when they were frustrated or angry and, if Nate was being honest, he was glad that they both felt that he was someone that they both gravitated towards when they were upset.
âThatâs fucked up.âÂ
Nate wouldnât have had any sympathy for any of them involved, if it hadnât clearly upset Lucy so -- his advice would have otherwise been to just say screw âem and move on (didnât every one of them know exactly what they had been getting into, anyway?)
âChild, huh? Does this mean I canât call you âkidâ anymore?â It might not have been the time for a joke, but Nate couldnât quite resist the possibility that he might be able to make her smile. He hadnât called her âkidâ in years but it had been his pet name for her when he and Nick first became friends and the three years between them had seemed much further.
âSo how did your dad take those comments?â Nate was always eager to hear any story that involved their father being embarrassed or upset. âOr was he just as happy to have Will Stark so closely associated to your family as Violet to care how insulting he was being to you guys?â
Or perhaps Mr. Alexander shared in the sentiments that his children had not been worth associating with until they, too, were vampires.
âHey, Iâm sorry heâs being such a dick to your sister, but ... I donât know. Maybe this is a good thing? Heâs not going to change for Violet. Heâs not going to change to anybody, so maybe the more of an asshole he is, the faster sheâll come to her senses about him. I know it doesnât help that your dad is so excited about the relationship, but even your sister has gotta have a line about what sheâll put up with?â
Or maybe she didnât. Nate wasnât sure, but if she was going to turn a blind eye so willingly, he felt she probably deserved all of it.
âOh, I agree. Starkâs worse. But only if because heâs got a couple hundred years on your sister,â He was only half-joking. He knew that Lucy was here because she was upset and she was upset by the treatment of her sister -- a sister she did still love -- but Nate, himself, had no love for Violet Alexander. He had seen himself how cruel she was towards Nick and he did not trust that she wouldnât one day be pushed to do something drastic.
Egregious | Lucy & Nate
âArgh!â cried Lucy in exasperation, hurling herself down on the stoop beside Nate. Â She was clasping her Louboutan shoes in one hand, and gesturing wildly, causing the shoes to whirl this way and that as she spoke. Â âSometimes Iâm not sure who is worse! Â My sister, or her paramour!â Â Lucy lay back where sheâd been sitting, staring up at nothing in particular. Â âBut then he goes and does something like this.â
Lucy hadnât announced that she was coming over. Â In fact, she hadnât really planned on it and was, in fact, still wearing the exquisite gown, the professional hair and makeup, everything sheâd put on for her fatherâs little vampire fete, ostensibly to officially welcome herself and her siblings into the vampire world, but in actually, to broadcast to the community that the recent attack by his wife should not cause the vampiric community to see them as weaker but, rather, as stronger.
Yet, her lack of announcement â even with these circumstances â was hardly unusual. Â Lucy was the sort of friend who simply arrived when she felt like it â and left at the same time, too. Â To be her friend was to issue a standing invitation, for better or for worse.
âHe calls me âchild,â you know,â she added.  This was hardly the most egregious thing heâd done â even to Lucy, herself â but she said it as though it were.  She raised her arm in a vague gesture, her shoes rattling in her fist.
âYou know, tonight, Daddy asked him to stand up, since â you know â heâs dating Violet. Â Daddy asked him to stand up and gave him a special introduction as a favorite ally, essentially,â she rolled her eyes. Â âAnd that he was so proud, so proud that Will Stark would deign to look at one of his daughters. Â Do you know what Violet wouldnât have given to have Daddy say those things about her? Â That he was proud of her? Â But no. Â He didnât say that. Â And do you know what Willâs response was? Â He said that he was just glad that the Alexanders had finally kicked their embarrassing habit of being attached to their humanity. Â That he never could of dated an Alexander before that, because it reflected so poorly on the vampire community at large.â
With another cry of exasperation, she hurled her hands up.  âI mean, I know â I know it was just a powerplay for everyone there.  ButâŠbut he should have said something about Violet.  Anything!  Even if it was to break up with her, he should have at least acknowledged her, you know?  But no.  He just stood up there looking all superior and proud of himself and snarky, and he barely even looked at her.  I mean, if I were her, this would be the final straw.  Iâd have broken up with him right there and then, really.  But you know whatâs saddest of all?  I doubt this will even phase them.  I doubt, even, that it will even occur to her that she ought to question that because, even tangentially, and directing the praise at someone else, Daddy admitted that he was proud of something sheâd done.  And, you know what!  This is exactly how all three of us died, and I bet she doesnât even care, doesnât even notice that all we are, all we have ever been, is pawns on somebody elseâs board.  How does that not drive her crazy?â Â
Finally, she fell quiet.  She sat up, again, stood up.  But then she didnât move.  Sheâd been about to leave, to storm off with her anger, but she turned back to him, half on verge of sayingâŠshe didnât know what.  Maybe a thank you for being one of the only people in their lives who never treated them that wayâŠbut the words didnât come.  She didnât know how to say them.
Instead, with a soft sigh, she sat back down beside him, wrapping her arms around her legs. Â âAnyway, Iâve decided,â she said quietly, at last. Â âWillâs worse.â
It was the closest to a thank you â or even to an apology â she could come.

I feel like there might be a pack situation happening here, honestly?? I feel like thereâs a group of ten or so in town (possibly more down the road when I make new characters), so I can see where they would have formed one, especially since werewolves can tell when someone else is a supernatural being yâknow? That being said, I feel like some people might prefer to go the ~lone wolf~ route.
I can honestly see Nate going either way, tbh, whether or not he was part of the pack? I think it would also depend who the ~alpha is (which I never did decide lmao -- I can tell you that itâs definitely NOT Nate)
All I do know about the pack, is that Oliver Reid (aka the werewolf who just killed a couple of people) is definitely in it, but I think heâs just the beta tbh and he has some strong opinions on how the pack should be run and he doesnât believe that they should be chaining themselves up, etc, and that itâs not natural and kind of butts heads with people
Anyway, since we are the only 2 playing werewolves, I feel like we can kinda decide for ourselves what the situation is/do you think Aaron would be involved in a wolf pack and if so, do you see him as a potential leader or nah?
OOC | Aaron & Nate
awoooooo! *cough, cough* sorry, i meant halloooo! ;DD  local werewolves ASSEMBLE!!!!  idk how many wolves there are in this area, but do we think thereâs a ~pack happening, or are there more justâŠa few wolves dotted around, doing their own ~lone wolf~ kinda thing?

Yeah!! I feel like they definitely know each other! (They are both high on the list of people the Wilsons invite to parties/hang outs, etc!) I do think that Nate would like Sophie (sheâs kind and intelligent and has a great sense of humor, etc.!) but I also think sheâs someone heâs like âhow are they still alive???â about and often leaves him just being like â??!???!â after an interaction.
Iâm kind of imagining Nate as like her quiet (and frustrated??) friend?? Like since sheâs so close to the Wilson gals, I feel like sheâs around a lot and even though sheâs not a Wilson girl, sheâs sorta an extension of them (and as such Nate feels a sense of loyalty towards) and I have this headcannon that whenever he sees her around town sheâs in some kind of dangerous situation and completely clueless about it??? (whether itâs something like sheâs in danger of being picked up by a vampire or sheâs driving on a flat tire or whATEVER).
And the first time it happened, I think Nate was like âsheâs nice, but sheâd probably be exhausting as a friendâ and then it kept happening and heâs like âhow does this possibly fall to me?â (Although I do think that some days he thinks it is kinda amusing too)
OOC | Sophie & Nate
so sophie and nate probs know e/o through the wilsons!! Â idk that theyâd know e/o well, necessarily, but theyâve probs at least met and had a few family dinners all together or whatever a couple times, id imagine!

ooc | Nate & Veronica
Nate is a werewolf who is also bffâs with Emma, so heâs another boy who just hangs out with the Wilsons <333 Chris knows heâs a werewolf and does NOT trust him at aLL, but Nateâs never hurt any of them so Chris has allowed him to live.
Nate also looks out for Emma and makes sure she doesnât go anywhere too dangerous or stumble onto anything that might make her suspect what is really going on (he once promised Chris that heâd never tell the girls about the spn and heâs not broken that promise, even if he doesnât agree w/ it!!) I also have a headcannon that he has occasionally helped out the girls w/ stuff around the house when both Theo and Chris are out of town and just looks out for all of them, in general.
Also, I think he and Emma became friends soon after the parentâ died, so I think heâs always known Veronica as the more uptight version of herself, but I do think heâd like her and recognize that sheâs a good person and want the best for her. I also think that the Wilson family life is something heâs never really experienced before and he finds it incredibly wholesome and welcoming and heâs forever grateful that they all are cool when he shows up for dinner sometimes!! I also think he looks out for all of them, in general, and has probably protected them all from something bad at some point w/o any of them even knowing it!

Donât Shoot | Nate & ChrisÂ
hfchristopherâ:
âAnyone home?â called Chris, pacing into the foyer. Â A two count. Â Nothing. Â Sighing, he shrugged off his duffle and turned to lock the door behind him. Â No way he was leaving that undone with some fanger running around unchecked so it could sneak in and lie in wait for one of his sisters. Â He didnât bother to turn on the light, yet, pacing to the fridge and pulling out a beer.
No sooner had the fridge door swung shut than he heard feet on the porch, too heavy to be his one of his sisters. Â The steps went straight to the door. Â No knock. Â A click. Â The doorknob turned. Â Chris drew. Â He leveled the piece. Â Nate Warner walked in.
Chrisâ brows contorted. Â Nate was babbling on and all Chris could think was, I canât believe IÂ trusted you with them. Â In truth, he never really had, but heâd trusted him as much as heâd ever expected to trust anyone supernatural with his family. Â There were just some lines he didnât like to cross â the risk of his remaining family was one of those.
âYeah,â he said.  âItâs harder to creep around someoneâs house if theyâre watching you do it, huh?â He arched his brows, an ironic look, half-jocular, but terribly serious undernearth.  âYouâre right about that,â he said.  âAnd I donât miss.  Iâll be keeping this.â  Reaching with his empty hand, he took back the key.  âMy sisters knew you had this?â
Emmaâs on her way, Nate said. Â Slowly, he lowered the pistol. Â âYou move too fast, or do anything I donât like,â he said. Â âThis comes back out. Â No hesitation. Â Got it? Â I donât care if it upsets Emma, ok?â Â That wasnât entirely true: he did care, but her safety came first. Â âNow, what, exactly, are you doing in my house?â Â He paused, walking out from behind the island, one hand on his gun, the other cradling his beer. Â âAnd, while youâre at it, tell me everything you know about these murders, huh? Â Cause you and I both know it ainât some wild animal gone rogue.â
âOh, definitely.â The sarcasm was unmistakable. âSorry, I interrupted you eating your snack in the dark. I thought that was something only us monsters liked to do.â He knew Chris was not in a mood to be tested, but it didnât stop Nate from feeling agitated that there wasnât much trust between them, even after more than a decade had passed since theyâd met.
That wasnât fair, he realized. Chris had put away the gun. He supposed there was some trust, after all.
He didnât immediately answer Chrisâs question about the key, however. Returning it to him had been meant to be a sign of his goodwill, but he supposed that he should have known that Chrisâs first question would be to ask if he had stolen it. If I really wanted to get in, I wouldnât need a key, he thought, but he did decide to keep that one to himself.
However, he didnât explain himself to Chris, either. The girls had given it to him and as long as Chris didnât end up killing him right now, he knew that the first thing he was going to ask his sisters when he saw them next if they knew about Nate having this key. Heâd let them tell him how he got it.
âWhat can I say? I get a kick out of stealing and returning keys.â Heâd figure the absurdity would imply that this, too, had been a joke, but it was hard to tell from Chrisâs unchanging expression if it had come across.
Heâd been waiting for him to ask him about the murders by the bridge. Heâd never lied to Chris about anything before (whether or not Chris agreed with this statement was less certain). The only exception had been where Lucy and Nick were concerned and his investigation was posing a threat to them both. Even trying to point him in the way of their father would be a mistake.
âWell, clearly itâs a vampire you are looking for,â He wouldnât have said even thought much if he didnât already know that Chris would discover that almost immediately (if he didnât already), âI heard at least one of the victims was drained of most of his blood when he was found by a local -- again could be a rumor but -- â He shrugged, âHowever, there hasnât been anything before or since so ... it could be that they were just passing through. You heard about anything else like this close by?â

Donât Shoot | Nate & Chris
Running late! Sorry!!! Just let yourself in.Â
Nateâs old flip phone buzzed with the message from Emma Wilson. He had a spare key that had been given to him by the Wilson girls one summer when one of the trees out back had blown into the second story window and Nate had gone up and replaced it himself. They told him he should just keep it after he continued to help them with repairs around the house when Chris and Theo were both out of town. (Not that the girls were completely helpless in that area, either, Chris had definitely shown them how to keep the house up).
When they needed something major done, Nick often intercepted and helped (without their knowledge) a lot with the cost. Nate doubted Chris had any idea that a vampire and a werewolf duo had done so much to help his sisters both in this and just staying safe, in general, but Nate was still a little frustrated that, after all of this time, there was still a visible edge that hung around Chris whenever they came across one another.
Nate had let himself in through the back door and when he turned the corner into the kitchen, there was someone pointing a gun on him.Â
Chris Wilson was back home.Â
âHey, itâs just me!â Nate said, his hands up defensively. This was not the first time Chris had pulled a gun on him and, quite frankly, he doubted it would be the last. âSorry, I didnât know anyone was here.â He had to give this one to Chris, he supposed lurking around in the empty Wilson house was a tad bit suspect. âEmmaâs on her way.â He explained.Â
Chris still hadnât put away the gun.Â
He slowly pulled the spare key out from his pocket and slide it across the kitchen counter towards Chris. âFigured you would feel better if I didnât have this.â He paused, âActually, we might both feel better. I might not be so lucky next time, huh?âÂ
He tried to crack a joke to lighten the mood, but Chris wasnât laughing.Â

tHEY CRAMP HIS STYLE lajsdflajflj omgÂ
Iâm not sure how much these two would interact, but probably mostly at the Alexanderâs place when Will is there to see Violet and Nate is there for Lucy and/or Nick and honestly, I feel like Nate is not a fan!! I feel like they just barely tolerate each other and there are a lot of snarky comments between them whenever they cross paths! (also nate @ will: also you are dating violet ew why would you ever!!!)Â
OOC | Will & Nate
will @ nate like: gross
no, but i think heâs hella dismissive of werewolvesâŠuntil the full moon rolls around and heâs like *sigh* ânow i gotta stay inside just bc of those stupid fleabagsâ and its a srs buzzkill and honestly i think thatâs the biggest cause of any beef w wolves â they crimp his style *facepalm*

âYouâre lucky they are too strung out to steal your car.â Nate said towards Nick, before turning and offering a half wave to his neighbors who (uncharacteristically) were sitting out in front of their trailer in old lawn chairs. They lazily returned his gesture through their daze, a look of uncertainty on their face as if they werenât sure how to respond.Â
Nate could tell that the sunlight was making Nick uncomfortable and he tilted his head towards his own trailer and led him instead. He laughed at Nickâs comment about the space heaters, âHey, just remember that the next time you try to sleep under a bridge.â It was a joke, but he meant that, too. He hoped that Nick wouldnât try to pull that again, but Nate knew his friend well enough to know that it would only take another accident for him to run off again.Â
He was glad he kept coming back here, because Nate doubted that his own house was a good environment for him, just now. The drug addicts, half-frozen nights, and potential fires would suit him better.Â
âOh, pasta, huh? See, I think you need to start telling that story saying your intention was to start a fire, instead. Itâs a special kind of elitism when you canât boil some noodles without almost burning the house down,â Nate teased. âYouâve come a long way since then.â His tone was serious now, as he put a hand on Nickâs shoulder, âSeeing you make some instant mac and cheese was one of the proudest moments of my life.âÂ
Nate laughed, âHey, even your dad has to respect my commitment to this friendship if thatâs what I wanted out of it. Iâm sure he would have been proud to know you almost burned down mine, once.â Or twice. The pasta incident had been the worst one, but there had been other close calls involving Nick and the kitchen before -- simply due to the fact that the space was completely foreign to him.Â
Nate looked back at his friend, more seriously now. âSo, uh, how was last night?â It was always eventful when Nick went back home, even for a night, and Nate hoped it hadnât made things worse for him.
Welcome Back | Nick & Nate
The sun was just starting to peak through the trees when Nate heard the unmistakable sound of Nickâs car. (It was the only car that ever came this far back that didnât sound like it was moments away from breaking down). Nick had spent last night back at the Alexander house, but judging from his early arrival time, it had not been a loving family gathering (even by his family standards, which were low enough as it was). Nate knew it had to be bad to keep ditching the comforts of his multi-million dollar mansion to slum it out here in the woods with Nate.
âI gotta know: is it the shitty space heaters, the junkyard couch, or the crackhead neighbors that just keeps bringing you back?â
He was teasing, well aware that both of them would rather live out here forever than deal with the majority of Nickâs family. He wasnât complaining about the state of things, either. He knew his living quarters left one wanting, but it was his and he wasnât about to let Nick buy him anything better (despite his many attempts).
He snapped his fingers, âItâs the overpowering smell of my shitty cooking that lingers for days, isnât it?â
They both knew it was because this place, despite its humble surroundings, was more a home to Nick than his own had ever been.

kate, i love our boys <33333
This arrangement works great for Nate tbh!!! Nate feels very close to his friends (when heâs friends w/ you, you are friends for life!!!) I donât think he really has much family to speak of. His dad is an alcoholic who sorta drifts around and just shows up now and again for money (which Nate never has) and I think his mom left them both when he was tiny and he doesnât even remember her. I think he was mostly raised by his grandmother, but she died a long time ago now and basically all of this is to say, that Nate lives alone/is alone most of the time and heâs never had a lot of strong family connections, so his friends are his family and if Nick wants to come slum it with him, heâs always done for that.
laksjflajf haha omg also I think that Nate was always afraid that he was going to be the one to kill Nick seeing as heâs a werewolf but trust Nick to cause more trouble in the past few months as a vamp than Nate ever has as a werewolf ;DD
Speaking of that -- Nate is HERE FOR NICK!! I donât think Nateâs ever killed anyone (at least, that he knows about #werewolfproblems) but I do think that he understands how it can happen and he knows that Nick would never consciously have killed those people, yâknow? He also thinks that Nick can learn to control himself better, he just needs help, and Nate is here to do whatever he can for him!!! (I also think heâs probably told him that Chris Wilson is a hunter and he probably suspects that Theo is one, too, and if not, that Theo is most likely at least aware of the spn so he should be careful around both of them)
okay, but I also have a headcannon that when Nick went and disappeared on everyone, that Nate was the one who went and found him!!! I donât think he was too worried at first and just thought that Nick wanted to deal with it on his own, but after the first few days and no one heard anything from him, Nick was desperate to find him and when the bodies started turning up, then he knew something was wrong and I think he eventually found Nick and helped talk him out of his plans for suicide and made him come home with him (to Nateâs place haha, Nickâs place probably wouldnât have been the best option)
Yeah and honestly, i feel like Nate also picks at him when he can tell itâs getting bad and makes Nick talk to him b/c clearly he does stupid things when heâs left to deal with this on his own!!! And I think Nate makes it pretty clear that he needs help, also, and he probably only really trusts himself when he has Nick come over and help tie him up once a month so he wonât go crazy on everyone and heâs over here willing to do the same for Nick!!
I also think that, before all of this, Nate also told him that he didnât have to live this life that his dad was setting up for him and that he could leave before his dad turned him into a vampire, etc. (ofc they both probably thought that they had a lot more time than they did before that happened #thanksmom but yeah) Anyway, Nate is very encouraging of doing what you want with your life and he doesnât want his friends to feel trapped and he hates that Nick is now trapped as a vampire for the rest of eternity so yeah TL;DR Nate is here to help him make the most of a very shitty situation
OOC | Nick & Nate
not to be dramatic (thoâŠitâs me w a new and dramatic characterâŠwhoâm i kidding here lkajsdflkjsdf), but nate and mia are literally nickâs sanity lifeline alkdsjflkajsdkjf theyâre the only connection he has to any of that and i defffff feel like, w nate in particular, nickâs constantly sneaking out of the house and like crashing at nateâs place and just chillin w him wherever that might lead them including but not limited to sleeping covered in blood in a mud pit w a wolf if it comes to that bc thatâs literally better than going home as far as nick is concerned <3  anyway!!! he literally cannot even express how lucky and grateful he is to have nate in his life!!!!! and also he has literally zero vocabulary to express that bc that aint how he was raised!!!!! so heâs just like âi will show my affection by hanging out igâ so we can only hope thatâs enough sakfjklsdjf
also?????? nick will probs get nate killed asp just bc his family!!!!1 and his own personal antics!!!! and also heâs got a bunch of hunters coming into town on his trail bc of his literal murder spree so!!!!!! the best friend you could hope for <333333 #thankspalÂ
also nick is super rich obv and i feel like that (amongst other things) makes him arrogant and entitled but also super clueless about basic stuff (how much can one banana cost? $10?) and like heâs used to throwing money at stuff and has literally been taught that money + compulsion will solve pr much every problem so!!!!! that def canât cause them any issues at all smdh
heâs also having a tough time dealing w his vampiric transition/condition and all the baggage that came w that for their whole fam, and i defffff feel like for the first like month he just full on isolated himself and disappeared and ghosted literally everyone except for the six ppl he attacked and murdered and heâs starting to come back out of it but he was a M E S S and like im not even sure he remembers a lot of that month so!!!! its great!!!! zero trauma here!!! Â i think his plan when he first turned was lowkey to go out into the middle of nowhere and like let himself dessicate or just straight up die but he didnât have enough control not to eat when some rando approached (usually hoping to help him oops), and standing out in the sun was just too painful he couldnât take it and alkjsdflkjsf it was a great time!!!
but i def think letting the ppl he cares about back in, esp nate, has been super good for him, though he still sorta justâŠdisappears sometimes bc his self-loathing which was already dialed up to ten is just having a ball and heâs like âill spare everyone!!!â  anyway, heâs starting to deal, now, and i feel like nate, esp, has been a big part of that (not that heâll ever get any thanks!!!! alksjdfkljds) esp bc nick can be fully open about everything cuz yknow heâs a werewolf and he can openly talk to him about everything and get advice from him about stuffâŠi mean obv vamps and wolves are different but im sure thereâs still a monster-to-monster dialogue thatâs more helpful than just a human in the know would be and is certainly more helpful than his dad who heâs been highkey avoiding since all of this bc thatâs baggage he just canât do rn!!!!!!
