Sjm books are so male-gaze coded

The love interests in Nesta’s books insist on carrying the books and bags for the main character, I know this to be true

But on a real note, it is embarrassing how Cassian treats her, like he’s a general and warrior and he’s making his girl carry their hiking tent

I know it’s a punishment but every angle of this equation makes him look dumb as hell. Imagine if the Illyrians could see these couples— Feyre with wings and Nesta being made submissive— after all the shit and lectures (because there is no action taken) they get for how they treat their own women 🗿

And Azriel, my boy, he has been taken down too 😭 so much for being a hopeless romantic. What would his mother say?

Does sjm even remember the sob stories she gave the IC? Cause… i would think Rhsyand would be sympathetic to Nesta and elain since they were only taken to the cauldron because 1 he failed to protect them and 2 their stories were really similar to what happened to his mother and sister. Not to mention he called Nesta Illyrian to justify his continued abuse toward her and it’s like he forgets his mother was Illyrian and that doesn’t justify how his father treated her

The author is taking down each of these characters one by one the more she writes about them. It was bad enough when Azriel just sat by quietly while everyone “discussed” nesta and the choices they made for her, but now with packing the bag with malicious intent and regifting a necklace and expecting a mate…. his potential isn’t adding up to who sjm is beginning to write. I guarantee you it’s downhill from here

When I remember that Azriel deliberately packed a big, heavy bag so that Nesta would have to carry it on the hike and there's an amused, icy gleam in cassian's eyes

Why tf did sjm make ACOSF Nesta acomaf Feyre? The Illyrian leathers, the tattoos, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she becomes pregnant and sidelined next. And why is Azriel in another love triangle? I never liked her but Mor is no longer an active character and is now a ploy to emphasize Cassian’s priority of his “family” over Nesta. Nothing about this series is thought out. There are so many redundancies and inconsistencies that could’ve been avoided if she would’ve planned an outline for the series rather than writing as she goes without looking back. The end of acofas literally set up a whole different “healing” arc for Nesta than what we got in acosf. Her popularity kills me when there are writers who put their heart and soul into their stores but aren’t recognized because they don’t advertise smut as YA

there’s something about a fourteen year old Feyre hunting in the woods for her family being absolutely horrifying to the inner circle but a fourteen year old nesta forced to use her body to seduce older men so she can get a marriage alliance for her family is just a funny little story for the inner circle to have a giggle over that gives them the idea that they should have adult Nesta use her body to seduce an older man into a marriage alliance. for her “family”.

“nesta needs her karma for favoring elain over feyre” SHE GOT IT. nesta poured her whole self into elain. didn’t leave her side for WEEKS when she was catatonic. she was always the closest with elain, thought Elain understood her more than anyone. and as soon as the going got tough elain jumped ship without a second thought. she literally packed up nesta’s things to send to the house of wind. she came up there when nesta was depressed and told her to her face she “doesn’t need to be so miserable about it.” being locked up against her will. she brought up their father and then nesta very clearly told her not to bring up their father and to get out. what did elain do in response? bring up their father again and does not get out. then she acts shocked when nesta snaps after she violated clear set boundaries, runs away crying, and complains about Nesta “not even trying to get better.” when has Elain once stuck up for Nesta? never. All the time, effort, and care was never reciprocated. Yeah, so Nesta got her karma for playing favorites and then some. Acting otherwise is being purposefully dense.
