Montgomery Gator died in that water - at least, he was supposed to. But he can't quite pass on when the ferryman chooses not to do his job, when the ferryman has personal motivations to protect this one young soul. Once Monty understands why, it's a matter of whether or not he can truly believe someone else is able to care for him, and see the bigger picture that his pain has blinded him to.

Monty vs GFreddy, for the love of the bunny u.u👉👈

Funny thing! For my interpretation of events, the love triangle exists but it's very. low-impact lol

Monty's sitting here like "I'm obviously a temporary fascination that Bonnie'll get over eventually and go back to Freddy, his 'Forever 'n Ever'"

meanwhile Freddy's sitting on the other side like "Bonnie seems much more comfortable with Monty than with me. I wonder if I have done something wrong, but, if Monty makes him happy, when I do not, then..."

Mind, this ultimately went nowhere because Bonnie's disappearance prevented things from coming to a head ...directly. It continues to be a tension lurking beneath Freddy and Monty's relationship when Monty takes over as bassist, as Monty still feels like he's "temporary" and is jealous of Freddy's "permanence", while Freddy still wonders why Monty was apparently so much better at making Bonnie smile than he was, but can't bring himself to get to know Monty because 1) he's scared of actually finding out what Monty has that he lacks, and 2) Monty's especially distant from him and pulls away whenever Freddy at least tries to reach out as a friend.

The truth of what happened to Bonnie didn't help.
