You guys always seem to like progress things so here’s me looking like a fish trying to get some pull ups at the young age of 18 LOL
Some things to remember:
1. Everyone starts somewhere
2. Use someone else’s progress as inspiration, not jealousy
3. The journey is never an uphill climb (there will be setbacks)
4. Consistency will go a long way
5. Take breaks, reward yourself, enjoy life
6. Always be open to learning new things
7. Your competition is your past self
8. Don’t give up! You can do it!!
9. Have fun!!
10. I believe in you! ❤️

This is dumb but I’m going to start lifting at the gym next week. Do you take all the weight off of the bars when you’re done or just leave them? The treadmills at my gym aren’t in the same area as all the weight lifting stuff so I just realized I don’t know the proper etiquette. Also I should start with just the bar, right?
PROPER GYM ETIQUETTE
Put away your weights! No one wants to put your weights back and its also dangerous if you leave them around
Clean up your workplace! Wipe down you bench if you sweat a lot and don’t leave all of your items out messily for someone to trip on
Ask before you take weights! If you are taking weights away at someones bench/squat rack/other, make sure you ask before taking them because they still might be using it
Do not stand in front of someone using a mirror! Don’t block someone’s view if they are standing in front of a mirror and is doing an exercise
Do not take up more than 1 machine at a time! Self-explanatory, other people are trying to work out as well
Do not excessively drop weights! Of course, for some lifts (like the deadlift) it happens, but if do not purposefully slam your weights
Do not talk to someone while doing an exercise! They are focused! Speak to them when they are finished
Do not stare! That’s creepy
Put on deodorant! Please
Do not give unsolicited advice! Especially if you have no idea what you are talking about

Home and Lock Screen
@fatmaninalittlesuit tagged me for home and lock screen screenshots! I’m actually pretty neurotic about how my home screen looks and proud of it, so here’s mine. :)

Back in 2015 if you asked me to do a push-up I would face plant the floor. Never in my life had I been able to do one. I was weak and embarrassed about training upper body, especially when I struggled to dumbbell press 4kg(8.8lb) compared to the guys pressing so much more. Halfway through 2016 I decided that the only way to change was swallowing my pride and start with those 4kg dumbbells. Slowly I struggled, persisted and pushed my muscles to failure, not caring about how I looked. Now my 10RM is 17.5kg(38.5lb) and my 1RM is 25kg(55lb). And I can do 30+ push-up in a minute~~ I wanted to post this to demonstrate you can start from nothing and become strong! Everyone starts somewhere! Don’t compare yourself to anyone else but become the best you! Believe in yourself and never give up!!!! Also weight is just a number~ I’m pretty sure the weight I gained was mostly muscle :)

And the converse: eating healthy doesn't mean you *will* lose weight. I eat trash food and I'm skinny, while I know many people bigger than me that have amazing diets but don't lose weight.
It's all about calories people
Can we stop acting like eating healthy is only for people who wanna lose weight?
I’m sick of going for the healthy option and people saying “get something good! You’re already skinny” or when suggesting a healthy recipe to others and they say “I’m not looking to lose weight”
EATING HEALTHY IS NOT JUST ABOUT WEIGHT LOSS.
Eating healthy is literally so your body can be healthy. So you can feel better. So you can perform better. So you can take care of and nourish your body properly. I’m not eating spinach because I wanna lose weight I’m eating spinach because I want to live longer and feel better.

Thanks guys 😊 this year may suck, but I'm hopeful next year will be better due to having less exams during rotations and I'll finally be able to kick some ass
Learned that my powerlifting competition this year is… in a week. With how second year of vet school has been going I’ve been super inconsistent with my lifting schedule and it’s hit everything but bench pretty hard.
I can probably make a 15# competition increase on bench, at 5# increase on squat, and my deadlift is looking to be 30# lower than my competition PR last year.
I know a lot of it is because of inconsistencies working out, but the fact that I haven’t made a real PR in a year and a half on deadlift should indicate I’m doing something wrong. I’ve looked into trainers but they’re so damn expensive..

At the gym again in the weights section. It’s more crowded today. And no one cares that I’m fat. No one cares that I’m using lower weights. Why didn’t I do this sooner?!

135x1(.5)!!! First time benching a plate, and it was easier than I expected!
Haven't posted anything in forever since I've had nothing to show. Vet school has completely stalled most of my lifts, but with strength and fitness week coming up soon ish I've been forcing myself to go more again. Luckily my bench has been somehow still going up despite only lifting once a week!

Fitspo is fake.
You cannot attain these bodies, because even the woman in the photo couldn’t attain that body.
Much of fitspo is manipulated in order to pull you in. You see those flat abs and you’ll buy the blogger’s diet plan. You see that round butt and you’ll spend money on that trainer’s workout regime. And because the real thing will never end up looking as good as the photoshopped pictures you see online, you’ll forever be chasing the next solution that they’re all clamoring to sell.
Bodies should not have to be manipulated in order to have value within our culture. We shouldn’t feel the need to smooth and thin and brighten images just so that these bodies can be seen as beautiful and worthwhile. Because when we encounter so many of these edited bodies that they become the norm in our media, it becomes even harder for us to summon up appreciation and respect for the real thing. Over time, what we see in our mirror is not only worthless: it also stands no chance of ever becoming good enough. How could it?
These edits are nothing short of ridiculous.

Goals!!! (Seriously, I want to do a muscle up so badly)
TRAINING WORKS!
Did my first strict muscle up variation today at @origins.pk on the first evening of the International Women’s Parkour Gathering 2018!!!
🤕I am nursing a chronic painful dysfunction in my right Achilles and a sprain of some toes on the left, so to avoid any jumping I thought I’d work my L-sit pull ups from sitting just for funsies—I pulled so darn high the first one that I thought I should just go for the transition AND I DID IT! All the false grip work, low dips and transitions, recent band work for the neuros, and time resting has paid off immensely. As suspected, it’s my wrist strength training especially that has made the most difference and will continue to as I work to get my strict straight-bar muscle up from full dead hang😸 😶A note on the chronic Achilles issues my dear friend @alyssa.serpa reminded me that others including @resorigins have held a rigorous teaching schedule and still healed eve a rupture by being smart and diligent and wearing a boot—guess who will be setting aside her pride and booting up in the near future?
😝It me! What good will pride do if I continue to disrespect my tendons “because of my rigorous coaching schedule” if it then means not participating in some types of challenges I love? Haven’t I done far more inconvenient things at length than wear a device to help me heal? Of course. So, bootlife, I’m coming for you!
💀 Strict dead-hang bar muscle up, you’re also next!
