pesto is great for many bites but to me itâs always been a kind of samey indulgent experience in a specific way where if you happily eat your way through a large enough portion there will hit a point where you will very suddenly experience something called âpesto remorseâ which i have just invented

marius is so âoh no! anywayâ about eponine confessing her love and then immediately dying that 1862 girlies could have started using âand by the way, monsieur marius, i believe that i was a little bit in love with youâ as a preface to announce major geopolitical events

everyone has their own opinion on the best way to plan a story, but when writing a farce or murder mystery I have to advocate for the classic notecard technique because it opens up the possibility that you will glance down while making lunch and see this

did you know? there is a type of metal chariot, powered by the bone-ichor of ancient dragons, that you can use to accessâand quickly traverseâa labyrinthine realm of desolate, pitch-black stone known to scientists as âthe american highway systemâ

I donât have time to draw it right now but while driving home from the winco I saw a happy mustached man pedaling a bike, towing a cart built to look like a chariot, inside of which stood what I can only imagine was his completely expressionless 13 year old in a makeshift corinthian helmet

I'm not trying to shame people who don't read The Classics because god knows most of that stuff never saw an editor, but before you post/reblog quotes from the old book classics, framed as something the author personally said, you should be aware that the quote was probably said or thought by a character who wasn't supposed to be objectively correct. As a matter of fact a lot of those fictional little guys were written to be completely wrong on purpose.
You have heard of the sci-fi genre of Don't Create The Torment Nexus. Now consider the 1800s book style Don't Become The Dipshit Protagonist.

marine biology is so scary because itâs such a small field. i was giving a talk on cetaceans and afterward a woman approached me with her husband and she said, âyou did very well. [husbandâs name] actually pioneered the research and published the first paper on that. We were very impressed by you.â
Which is such a scientific interpretation/public education win I will cherish forever but also for the rest of my life any time I give a talk I will be haunted by the knowledge that the worldâs leading expert who literally discovered/invented the topic might be in the room,
which is like, the opposite of what youâre supposed to do for stage fright. In fact I never used to experience stage fright but now I will.

My favorite Tolkien illustrations by Cor Blok in no particular order:
Bilbo and Gollum. Bilbo is the moon for some reason which is cool i guess
Smeagol and Deagol. I love the seaweed in the background, great attention to detail
Frodo serving Robin Hood-realness at his and Bilboâs birthday party. Literally iconic
Isildur taking the ring from Sauron. Its great but I would like to see more of Sauron than just his hand, because I think he has the potential to look really cool
Pippin jumping into the bath at Crickhollow⌠no comment
Bilbo gives the Mithril coat to Frodo. Great poses, very stiff and awkward. I like it.
The fellowship. This one is a classic.
Gandalf and the balrog. Amazing
Boromir trying to take the ring from Frodo. I love the way he reaches for his sword, it looks very natural
Merry and Pippin and Treebeard. I like his legs and the fact that it looks like heâs wearing shorts.
