Hello! I really love your cosplays and youtube channel, you seem like a very fun person. Are you going to A-kon this year? And do you have any cosplans for 2019?
Hi! Sorry this reply is so late I don’t check my tumblr that often. Unfortunately I wont be attending A-kon this year- the drive is more than I like and the change in location is a big turn off to me. I have friends who live in Dallas and know the area to be very unsafe so if you do attend please be cautious!
As for cosplans I do have a few things currently in the works but nothing set in stone just yet. If you arent already, follow me on Instagram (Hatterinsanity) to see WIP and updates when I did kick off my projects! I’m also trying to share more stories/posts regarding research and such :)

Cosplay Tutorial: How to Create Worbla Feathers
By popular request: it’s the worbla feather tutorial!!
For Tsukki’s Legend of Karasuno cosplay, I decided to go with a heavy crow motif, and what better way to do that than covering myself in feather armor?  I ended up crafting close to 100 in total between the shield, gauntlet, and pauldrons, using a few different tweaks for different armor pieces.  However all of my feathers were made in one of two ways: either by sandwiching worbla around foam for a very thick, large feather, or by stacking two pieces of worbla for a thinner but very sturdy feather that is thick enough to etch deep details into.  Read on for these two methods!

How to make felt wings
Tumblr media
You can make angel wings in a lot of ways and this is how I made a pair out of felt for my latest cosplay. This technique is fairly simple but takes a lot of time.
Tumblr media
I started by drawing the shape of one wing on a piece of paper (One wing was for me around 33x26 cm). It is a good idea to also draw out how you want the feathers to be on the paper wing so you can get a hint on how big they should be.
Tumblr media
For the feathers I used white hobby felt that I cut out in to six different sizes. This step is by far the most time consuming (it take a lot of time!) and I highly recommend making a pattern of the feathers in cardboard to make the process easier. I made around 600 feathers in total to cover back and front on both wings.
Tumblr media
To make the feathers more stiff it is a good idea to coat them with mod podge. Just one coat makes a lot of difference and help the wings keep its shape. (I did not do this step with the smallest feathers since they did not need to be stiff).
Tumblr media
To see how I wanted the formation of the feathers I placed them out on the paper wing and took a photo so I could check it later on.
Tumblr media
For the base of the wings I cut out the shape of the wing in craft foam. Since I wanted the small feathers on the upper part of the wings to be a bit higher up I glued on some extra craft foam there.
Tumblr media
To hold the base up I used some black worbla that I twisted the lower part of to give them some angle so they didn’t lay flat. To make sure no color show between the feathers everything was painted white and a stripe of felt was glued over the worbla.
Tumblr media
Next I started to glue the first row of feathers to each other. Since I did not want to glue them direcly on the foam wing yet I used needles to help mark the placement of the feathers on the next couple of layers.
Tumblr media
When I was done gluing the bigger feathers together I took the foam base away and used some transparent paper to draw out the shape of all the feathers except the first row.
Tumblr media
I then placed the paper over the foam base and made dots where the inner corners where the feathers on the lower row met. I then draw a line above it and cut along it. This was made because I realised that the felt feathers where a bit see through and the shape of the foam base could be seen. Higher up it were more feathers and harder to see it.
Tumblr media
The base was glued to the feathers and was then flipped over and feathers where glued to that side as well.
Tumblr media
For my cosplay I needed red stones on the wings. I used two glass prism, black worbla and some red and gold paint to make them. However this made the wings heavier then they needed to be so if you are making something like this, try to use a lighter material for this part.
Tumblr media
And they are done! Time consuming but really light (even with the stones) and easy to make.

Voltron Armour Patterns
Okay so, I found it extremely hard to find a pattern for the Paladin armor so I made one of my own. I made this in a laser cut program cause I’m going to be laser cutting this out of EVA foam. I don’t know what the end result of this is yet but once I’ve made it I’ll post a step by step tutorial of assembly and painting and the final result (it’ll be my fav boi Lance).
[this is all size to my measurements, if you use this the ratios will probably be different]
Tumblr media
Blue- Jetpack
Green- Chest piece
Red- Arms
Purple- Belt
Orange- Legs
Tumblr media
Chest piece (left to right: Shoulder, Front, Side, Neck and Back, Side, Shoulder)
Tumblr media
Jetpack
[the tabs fold down to make it 3D off of the armor (the separate triangles are tabs too I just couldn’t fit them in without overlapping) I’ve designed this so that the bottom is slanted cause that’s kinda how it looks in my ref]
Tumblr media
Arms (top to bottom: Bicep, Elbow, Forearm, Wrist bit and Hand bit)
Tumblr media
Belt
[the tabs on the hexagons are to be folded down cause the bits pop out. I’m doing the slit bits as just cut out cause I’m too lazy to do it any other way. This is designed to join at the front so the pentagon/diamond shaped bit can hide the seam]
Tumblr media
Legs (top to bottom: Thigh, Knee, Calf, Ankle pieces)
[the legs will need the most shaping, espesially around the ankle]

Hello, I hope this is not a weird thing to ask, but I was curious if your convention list for the rest of the year is up to date? Or will you be adding last minute conventions you will be attending?
Hello! Its not a weird thing to ask at all so dont worry! The list on my profile is finalized. I had considered doing Ikkicon as I’ve never been but I don’t think thats going to be in the works this time around unfortunately. So with that said my last convention for the year is Realms Con in October! I’m hopefully going to attend a few more cons next year, maybe even an out of state one! We’ll just see how things play out I suppose lol. Thank you for asking!

Becoming Prince Lotor || Makeup Test [Voltron Legendary Defender]
“My father built our empire on the bones of his enemies. The universe can no longer doubt our strength.” - Prince Lotor
Voltron Season 3 is in 2 days! I’m so crazy excited that I sat down and finally did this makeup test for Lotor. I’ve been planning to cosplay him since the first few fanarts started popping up at the end of season 2 so this was a lot of fun for me!
I’ve never used theater facepaint like this before but I think I did a pretty good job making myself purple. Materials are in the description of the video! I hope you enjoy it.

Cosplay Worklog // Victor Nikiforov Wig Styling [Yuri on Ice!!!]
Hey everyone! Another weekend means another video! This time i’m showing you how I cut and styled my Victor Nikiforov wig for my upcoming cosplay! I’m keeping my next con simple by just taking tracksuit Victor so I can do some more stuff (and film it) outside of what stressing over multiple cosplays limits me to.
I hope youll look forward to those videos coming up and that this video is somewhat helpful and fun for you!
▪ Wig is a Jaguar in Light Grey by ArdaWigs (I would also recommend the blue steele in light grey to save you a lot of cutting)

This might seem like a weird question, but I was wondering where you found the tray you used for your Free! Cafe coplay? I can't seem to find anything similar, and if I do it's ridiculously priced for something I am going to be gluing cups down too. Thank you.
Hello! I’m sorry this reply took me so long! For some reason I wasnt notified of any new messages so I just happened to check it by chance and saw some were waiting in here orz. For the tray my friend who was the Rin to my Sousuke actually grabbed them from Hobby Lobby or Daiso I cant really remember. She then stained them and mailed me mine so I could glue down all my stuff. Here is something similar though! - http://amzn.to/2tBgMZL - but I would definitely recommend something with a handle as our trays murdered my arm after just a couple hours from holding/balancing it. Good luck!
