EVALUATION
Reflecting on my Tumblr documentation has played a significant role in the development and expansion of my initial idea of using screens to communicate my message. Through the exploration of other artists who employ projection techniques to effectively convey their ideas, I have been able to broaden my understanding of communication methods and enhance the impact of my final piece, which effectively communicates the negative environmental impacts of light pollution.
When I revisited my Tumblr documentation, I realized that relying solely on screens to communicate my message had limitations. Screens are confined to specific locations and lack the immersive qualities needed to fully engage viewers. This realization prompted me to explore alternative approaches, leading me to investigate the works of artists who successfully utilize projection as a medium for effective communication.
Studying artists who employ projection techniques, I discovered the transformative power of projection as a means of conveying ideas. By projecting visuals onto various surfaces, these artists were able to create immersive experiences that engaged viewers on a deeper level. This inspired me to shift my focus from screens to projection, allowing for more dynamic and interactive communication.
Furthermore, the exploration of projection techniques used by these artists provided me with valuable insights into the technical aspects of creating impactful visuals. Their mastery of light, shadow, and motion demonstrated the potential of projection to evoke emotional responses and enhance storytelling. Recognizing the importance of these elements, I delved into further research and practice to strengthen my technical abilities in projection mapping, interactive technologies, and visual storytelling.
The knowledge and skills acquired from previous units played a crucial role in strengthening my technical abilities. Units focusing on projection mapping provided me with a solid foundation in understanding how to align visuals with specific surfaces and structures, enabling me to create immersive environments that effectively conveyed my message about light pollution.
Moreover, units exploring interactive technologies allowed me to incorporate interactive elements into my final piece. By engaging viewers and making them active participants in the experience, I aimed to deepen their understanding of the negative environmental impacts of light pollution. These interactive components added an extra layer of engagement, making the final piece more memorable and impactful.
In addition to technical proficiency, previous units also contributed to my understanding of the environmental issues related to light pollution. Units focusing on sustainability and environmental awareness deepened my knowledge of the topic and provided a strong foundation for effectively communicating the message in my final piece. This understanding allowed me to incorporate relevant statistics, imagery, and narratives that conveyed the urgency and severity of the issue.
The culmination of these efforts resulted in the creation of a stunning final video piece that effectively communicates the negative environmental impacts of light pollution. Through the use of projection, I was able to immerse viewers in an interactive experience that conveyed the consequences of excessive artificial lighting on ecosystems and human well-being. The technical abilities honed through previous units, combined with a deeper understanding of the issue, allowed me to craft a visually compelling and emotionally resonant final piece.
In conclusion, looking back at my Tumblr documentation and exploring artists who effectively employ projection techniques have greatly influenced the development and expansion of my ideas. By transitioning from screens to projection, I discovered new avenues for immersive and interactive communication. The technical skills gained from previous units strengthened my abilities to create a visually stunning final piece, while a deeper understanding of the negative environmental impacts of light pollution informed the content and messaging. The process of reflection, exploration, and skill development has culminated in a video that effectively communicates the urgency and severity of the issue, encouraging viewers to take action and make positive changes for a more sustainable future.

ANALYSING PEER PROJECT IDEAS
FATUMATA
The concept is intriguing as it explores the transformation of religion from a societal obligation in the past to a personal choice in the present. While some individuals have been critical of religion due to its historical influence and teachings, the focus here lies on the positive aspects. The author could delve into researching how religion has not only brought about positive changes in individuals but has also impacted the world and individuals outside the realm of religion.

FINAL OUTCOME
I created a short 20-second video exploring the theme of light pollution. The video will be projected onto a wall in my exhibit and infinitely looped. The video has an abstract and glitchy style, aiming to grab attention. I took my own photos and used editing software like Vegas Pro and Adobe After Effects to put everything together.
The video starts with glitchy text that flickers and distorts, creating a disorienting effect. It's meant to capture the chaotic nature of light pollution. Throughout the video, I incorporated pictures I took, showcasing the contrast between the natural night sky and the negative impact of artificial lighting.
Using effects and transitions in Adobe After Effects, I distorted and manipulated the images and text, giving the video a fragmented and discordant feel. The goal was to make viewers think about the issue of light pollution and its environmental consequences.
In summary, the 20-second video combines glitchy text, my own pictures, and visual effects to raise awareness about light pollution in an engaging way.

LIGHT POLLUTION TYPE
Here is a series of type I created and manipulated with Adobe PhotoShop. I distorted all of these words to create cool abstract looking type, which will go into my video that I will project onto the wall for my exhibit. These photos will also further be heavilty manipulated during the video editing process.

ARTIST INSPIRATION
The artist @caoyuxi (aka Cao Yuxi) on Instagram has been a profound inspiration for my current project. His remarkable use of projection to create immersive abstract experiences has sparked my own creative vision. Witnessing his artistry, I was captivated by how he skillfully projects visuals onto walls, transforming them into captivating and dynamic canvases. This approach resonated deeply with me, leading me to incorporate projection techniques into my own project. Inspired by @caoyuxi's ability to immerse viewers in abstract realms through the interplay of light and form, I aim to create a similar experience. By projecting onto walls, I hope to evoke a sense of wonder and transport viewers into an imaginative space where boundaries blur, inviting them to engage with art in a truly immersive and transformative way.

PNG SEQUENCE CONTENT AWARE
To make this short content aware gif, I got my clip ready and dropped it into after effects. I then rendered the video as a png sequence batch, opened Photoshop and created an action that would automate and content aware each png frame and automatically save it to a folder. After it had completed this action for each of the frames, I imported the batch into After Effects and rendered it in my desired frame rate.

Exhibit idea (UPDATED)
My light pollution exhibit takes place in a dark room where a projector blares flashing lights and the Milky Way onto a black wall. The flashing lights are meant to imitate a "flash bang" and show how Earth is constantly bombarded with light due to light pollution. The galaxy projection shows the view that we miss due to light pollution. It's a brief, but powerful way to raise awareness about the impact of light pollution on our environment and the importance of preserving the beauty of the night sky. Previously, my idea consisted of having screens lined up in a 2x3 format, however i quickly realised it would be difficult getting my hands on those tv's, so i had to come up with something else. I definitely like this idea much more than my previous one.

COLLAGE GIF
So, I made this collage gif on Photoshop using the timeline feature, and it's all about the Frutiger Aero aesthetic. To make the gif, I started by gathering a bunch of different images of these operating systems that use the Frutiger Aero design. Then, I put each image on a separate layer in Photoshop.
Next, I used the timeline feature to create the animation. I set the duration to be about 5 seconds, and then I started moving each layer slightly every few frames. This gave the illusion of movement, almost like each operating system was flashing on and off the screen.
It was a bit of a challenge to get everything to line up just right and make sure the movement was smooth, but I think it turned out really well in the end. I love how each image kind of fades into the next one, creating this really cool collage effect.

Why do I care?
Light pollution is something that means a lot to me because I've always been fascinated by the night sky. I mean, who hasn't seen those stunning images of the Milky Way and shooting stars in the media? But growing up in the city, I always wondered why I couldn't see the night sky in all its full beauty.
It wasn't until I learned about light pollution that I realised why. All the artificial lights in the city make it almost impossible to see the stars and the Milky Way. It's like we're living in a world where the stars don't exist.
But it's not just about missing out on the beauty of the night sky. Light pollution affects so much more than just our ability to stargaze. It disrupts the natural cycles of plants and animals, alters ecosystems, and wastes energy.
That's why I think it's so important to raise awareness about light pollution and the impact it has on our planet. We all have a responsibility to reduce our own light pollution and support efforts to reduce it in our communities. I want to do my part to preserve the beauty of the night sky for generations to come, and I hope others will join me.

FIRST IDEA
My art piece for the exhibition is all about raising awareness for light pollution and how it affects us and nature. So many of us live in big cities and we're missing out on the true beauty of the night sky because of all the artificial light. It's like we're living in a world where the stars don't exist!
My piece is going to be a bit intense, though. I'm going to have 6 screens lined up 2x3, and they're going to flash bright white lights at the viewers. It's going to be like getting flash-banged! I want to symbolize how the Earth is being bombarded by light from humans, and how it's not a pleasant experience for nature or for us.
After the initial shock of the flashing lights, the screens are going to present information about light pollution and how it affects nature and the environment. I want people to understand the impact that artificial light is having on our planet, and how we can all work together to reduce it.
I hope my piece will make people stop and think about how we can all make a difference. We can turn off unnecessary lights, use darker-colored outdoor fixtures, and support efforts to reduce light pollution in our communities. Let's take care of our planet and give ourselves and nature a chance to enjoy the beauty of the night sky!
