It took me forever to watch it hahah so I feel like everyone already had so many good takes at this point that I don't think there's much left for me to say about the movie itself. I love it, I really do.

What baffles me though and I simply can't get this out of my head is why the fuck Harry had to go and do this movie? This is the question I've been asking myself since day one and now that I finally watched it, it seems an even more persistent matter. He is good at acting, and in all of his other movies I was able to forget I was watching Harry, our Harry, on the screen. But not on My Policeman. And it wasn't because his acting wasn't good- quite the opposite, he's wonderful - but it's just because Harry is Tom. He knew every single one of those emotions, he knows how it feels like, I could see him in every single scenes through Tom.

Listen- I've been here for a while, okay?! Around nine years, watching this kid, since he was 19, being desperately in love and crazy proud of who he is. And not being allowed to. And now, out of all the things in the world he could be doing, he's an actor and he's playing this closeted man in a movie that isn't allowed to be with the person he loves, stuck in a fake marriage. He did this movie while playing the exact same role in real life. Out of all things, out of all movies... that's what he chose. I never wanted to have a peek inside someone's head so much as I do now, I just want to understand why did he go there, and what this means to him. How does he cope with it.

did i expect harry to release a music video to an utterly joyous song where he screams he loves someone that is actually a metaphor for the entertainment/music industry, where he becomes objectified and used and finally got rid off when he’s no longer bringing profit to others, a video that is actually so heartbreaking in nature while it’s utterly ridiculous and unsettling and uncomfortable to watch for several reasons? no. am i going to eat it up? absolutely.

only harry could show the predatory nature of the music industry and how he's literally a piece of meat, a dance monkey, who if he ever stops singing, stops being the brand that he's advertised as, will be torn apart and brought down to literal shreds and stop being relevent, only harry could show all this by portraying himself as this octopus/siren/human hybrid and pull it off

harry not being anything special to the workers— going to cook and serve him as sushi until they heard him sing, immediately knowing they could make money off his talent and pushing him out to the masses quick to make as much profit off of him as possible worried he will spoil (reach his shelf-life) before too long.

for fuck's sake the reason harry isn't doing much promo for my policeman isn't because he's a queerbaiter or whatever but because the one time he did speak about the movie he said something so profoundly gay and hashtag relatable about hiding your identity and sexuality and the yearning that comes along with it that everyone was confused how this 'straight' man knew so much about being gay

Ok so next time someone calls Harry “unprepared” or “dumb” I will lose it. This man couldn’t be cleverer. The “movie that feels like a movie” was a move he made by choice. This is the story he wants to be remembered for. This is the story he actually wants to share. This isn’t him wanting to act again, this is him getting invested in the story, playing a major role in how this film will affect society. This is who he really is.
