— EVERLASTING PROMISE
PAIRING. Kim Dahyun x Fem!Reader
After a persistent princess tracks you down through meetings with a few of the local village’s herbalists, she has the gall to request your presence, in search of some of your more… magical pursuits. You set up a place and time just so she’ll leave you be, but find yourself waiting for her there out of pure curiosity. (1K)
TAGS. royal!au, fantasy!au, forced marriage, bittersweet angst, witch!reader who's just fed up with everything

“You clean up nicer than I expected.”
With that, you set down your mug with a sour grimace, the fresh brew on your tongue going stale as your mood.
Muffled thunder rages overhead, nearly drowned out by a bout of laughter around you. You open your eyes. Take in the sight of dripping lashes, a neat collar around the throat, and squared shoulders— all fine until you notice a flash of silver rings as pale hands rise to adjust the neckline of a shoddy cloak.
“And you hardly know a thing about subtlety,” you snap in retort.
She was practically asking to get caught.
Dahyun gawps, stammering on her words, “Hey- if you must know, subtlety is practically my middle name! It just.. slipped my mind that it was meant to rain tonight, is all…” Her explanation goes flat under your unamused glare, her last sentence coming to a quiet, embarrassed drawl. You imagine her with feathers, all of them fluffing up as she tries to recover, leaning towards you to hiss, “I might’ve fared better if I didn’t have to abandon my horse to travel on foot. This terror hole is nearly impossible to find, it could’ve taken—”
You hold up your hand, stopping the princess dead in her tracks.
“Spare me the even bigger headache and make this quick, please.” You stifle a wince as the chatter in the tavern swells once more, rubbing at your temples. “There are things I have to tend to.”
“Fine. I need a love potion.”
You scowl. “No.”
“I knew you would-” her face drops, “wait, w- what do you mean no?”
You pick up your mug again to drown your laughter in ale. “It means it’s not happening, princess.”
“Don’t call me that.”
“Or what? You’ll tell on me?”
Dahyun reaches her hand into her jacket, fear visibly seizing her into motionlessness as a subtle blue aura begins to dance around your fingertips. Your voice lowers considerably. “This isn’t your pretty little castle, sweetheart, no one’ll be answering your cries of distress if you try anything stupid.”
Under the faint haze of torchlight, Dahyun swallows.
Still, she pulls the object out of her coat pocket.
It’s just a scroll.
You ignore her trembling hands as she flattens the page onto the rickety oak in front of you. It's a lengthy thing. Written neatly in inks darker than nights like these. Your eyes skim back and forth.
These… these are papers for her marriage. If she wants them, this means—
Your heart plummets.
The silence on your end must make her anxious, her body practically vibrates as she blurts out, “I know- I know they’re illegal. But I need this.”
You swallow. “For you, or him?”
“Myself.”
You don’t know if that makes it better or worse.
“...Why would you marry someone you don’t love?” you ask, keeping your voice carefully measured. Not overconcerned, but not too careless either.
“If it’ll aid in my favor, I’ll have you know this wasn’t my decision either.”
The way she breaks your stare betrays her casualty about it all, but that doesn’t stop her from shrugging. Her lips purse. Brows furrow.
Like a flash of lightning, the moment is over as quick as it happened. Those dark eyes are back on you again. Her stare resolute. “But… everyone has a part to play.”
Everyone has a part to play.
Where have you heard that from before?
Shaking your head, you stand swiftly, taking your lantern in hand. “I’m sorry, but I’m not risking everything just so that you can live out your happy ending.”
And you leave.
Princess or not, it was silly for her to come to you. Everyone knew love potions were forbidden. Folktales and parables told countless stories about them. How they quickly turned love into obsession. Turned the simplest of men into something cruel. Nearly unfeeling.
Part of you couldn’t deny her courage, you supposed, but another part of you abhorred her presumptuousness. Immediately assuming you’d say yes. Approaching you in the first place. Saying she had an offer you couldn’t refuse. Like hell you couldn’t.
You’re a few feet from the backdoor when you hear her call.
Ignoring her, you step into the rain, letting the door shut behind you. Serves her right for wasting your time on a night like this, where the moon is full and the opportunity for harvest yields higher than usual.
“Wait!”
You're pulled back by your wrist.
“Please, I’ll give you anything you long for! Access back into the town, jewels, herbs, a spot in the castle, however much money it takes-”
You yank your arm away, glaring at her from underneath your hood. “You don’t even know what you’re asking for.”
“I know I don’t want to spend the rest of my life in misery!”
“Don’t we all,” you snark.
“Look, I know that my parents exiled you. But you should know better than anyone that not everyone happens to align with the likes of them or their ideals!” she yells over the rain. “I- I seriously want to change the way things are. But I need it to be perfect, anything but and you can bet someone just as bad as them will be sitting up on that throne! And they might do worse than banish and imprison.”
You stare at her with wide eyes, so shocked you speak before your brain even has time to catch up, “They teach you that in princess school?”
Dahyun crosses her arms with a pout, muttering, “That’s not a thing.”
You turn to hide your smile, “If you say so.”
You only get a few paces away to reenter the woods when you realize you don’t hear any movement behind you. Turning around, you find Dahyun still standing there. Her posture reeks of defeat. Shoulders slumped. Lantern dangling to the ground. Head low. All of the rain like a vicious fog, only adding to her somber image.
“You coming or not, princess?” you call.
Dahyun looks up with wide eyes, as if not having heard you the first time. Unable to take a win, it seems. You roll your eyes, lifting your lantern and gesturing with your head as if to say come on. The way her face lights up is a magic of its very own.
You turn back forward.
“We still have a lot to discuss, privately,” you say once she reaches your side, making sure your tone leaves no room for discussion. Not out here. Even the woods have ears.
“You won’t regret this, I promise,” she breathes out.
That makes you clench your jaw. The last time a royal promised you something, it’d ended in disaster.
After all, you would know best, since you were the first Kim Dahyun ever promised to marry.

— A LATE BREAKFAST
PAIRING. Jennie Kim x Reader
With a big test coming up, you and your girlfriend make a bet to see who can stay awake the longest during your study date. Ultimately, you win. This is a brief glimpse of the cozy morning afternoon that follows. (1.3K)
TAGS. college!au, just some good ol’ domestic fluff, a suggestive mention or two, playful mention of suffocating 💀
Tumblr media
Waking up feels like transitioning out of a daze and headfirst into a living daydream. Everything feels warm and hazy. Sunlight pours in slats through the blinds. Distantly, you register the sound of the humming air conditioner, and the soft lull of music from the apartment above you.
Being inside of these four walls brings you a feeling you can only describe as pure comfort. The kind that makes you wish you could stay in bed forever.
You yawn as you come to, sluggishly scanning your apartment.
The TV is on, paused on Netflix’s home screen.
With a groan, you stretch, careful of Kuma at the foot of the bed. The joints in your legs crack with a satisfying pop of pressure. That satisfaction is shortlived; you can’t help but grimace as you notice your arm is trapped.
Jennie snores softly against your shoulder, blissfully unaware of your predicament at the moment. Your girlfriend is practically on her stomach with the way she’s curled into you, black hair mussed wildly about on her forehead, arms contorted in such an awkward way you wonder how she’s sleeping so peacefully.
She’s lucky she’s cute.
You try to pull your arm, but no give. And an annoying blunt something is digging into your waist.
Turning fully onto your side, you blindly fumble with your hand underneath the sheets. You realize it’s your phone as soon as you get ahold of it.
Turning it on— your eyes widen: it’s nearly 2 in the afternoon! You can’t believe you’ve actually slept the entire morning away. Again.
It takes you mumbling her name at least three times before Jennie begins to rouse from her sleep. (Though, you think it's your weak movements attempting to free your arm that truly wakes her.)
She squints at the light, immediately screwing her eyes shut. Then, she loops an arm around your waist and nuzzles into your chest. “Five more minutes…” she murmurs, the ghost of her lips tickling your sternum.
“Jen…” you warn.
Like a child, she whines an indignant noise, burrowing further into your warmth.
You roll your eyes before you press a patient kiss to the top of her head. Your stomach grumbles; of course she smells like blueberries, of course.
“You… you know that you fell asleep first, right?” you murmur through a yawn, teasing despite the sleepy haze that still has a grip on you both.
"Mmm, no I didn't,” she rasps, lying straight through her teeth, “you fell asleep before me, but-"
"But nothing- unless… you have proof that I don’t?”
She goes quiet at that.
Too quiet.
"Babe… you're gonna fall asleep in five more minutes, and-” You huff, yanking your arm from underneath her. Tingles shoot down to your cold fingertips as the blood begins to flow back into your veins. “I need to piss."
Jennie groans. "Just hold it."
You scoff, pushing her away by the forehead. "How about I suffocate you instead?"
"Ugh… fine.”
Jennie rolls onto her back, allowing you to move. She cocoons herself in the sheets to the neck after you stand. Watches you with puffy, low eyes as you round the bed.
“Delete the photos… I know you have so many terrible pictures.”
You scoop up a random shirt from the floor, sending her a lovesick smile when your head pops out of the top. “Babe, please… you’re the most photogenic person I know.”
“Blegh,” she complains, face scrunched as she tugs your pillow over her head, “Too cheesy.”
You giggle as you make your way to the bathroom.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
"Jagiya…"
You hum at the term of endearment, glancing at your girl as you tug on a random pair of grey sweatpants, foamy toothbrush stuck to your jaw.
Jennie looks far more awake. In the time you’ve spent in the bathroom, she’s propped a pillow underneath her head, and found her phone. The sheets have slipped just below her collarbones, revealing the straps of her lace bra.
She places her phone on her stomach when you look at her, giving you her full attention. That soft stare of hers doesn't fail to give you butterflies.
"Thought you only needed the bathroom?" she asks.
You shrug. "Well, now I'm hungry."
She smirks. "No need to leave, I'm right here."
You roll your eyes and head back to the bathroom to finish up, ignoring her call of complaint.
"Since we missed breakfast, m’gonna make some. Want something specific?" you call before you turn on the shower for her, knowing she preferred to first thing in the morning.
You step out to hear her clearly, leaning your weight against the doorframe. She’s staring at herself in the ceiling mirror, rubbing an eye.
"Toast please,” she mumbles sweetly.
You hum, then collect all of your textbooks and loose papers from last night and shove them into your bag.
"What is-"
You look over.
Jennie is sitting up now, blankets bunched around her hips and a familiar paper in her hands. She smooths out a yellow sticky note, and you wince to yourself as she squints to read it, already knowing what it is.
She holds it up for you to see, eyebrows raised. "Really?"
You can barely make it out from where you’re standing, but you don't need to. You remember lazily scribbling the words ‘LOSER’ on it last night. Along with the click of your camera taking an incredible amount of pictures after sticking it to her forehead… how your drowsy laughter flooded the room as she didn't budge not once, too comfortable in your presence to once rouse from her sleep.
And yeah, maybe one of those pictures is your wallpaper right now, but what she doesn't know won't hurt her.
"Oh, where did that come from?” you drawl, scratching your head and glaring at the slip of paper as if you didn’t recognize it. “Weird.”
“Yeah… so weird.”
You glance around, trying to ignore the feeling of her knowing gaze burning holes into your face. Kuma scratches insistently at the door, whining. "Oh, Kuma needs to pee. Gotta go!" you rush, happy to have an out.
You swing open the door and let the canine rush out ahead of you, phone in hand as you escape Jennie’s grumbles to herself.
"Y/n!"
You pause mid-step down the hall, a suspicious squint to nothing in particular. Your girlfriend actually sounds upset. Kuma continues on without either of you, nails clicking against the floors as he jogs around the corner, not a care in the world as he races to the kitchen.
You shove your phone into your back pocket as you walk back to the room. You peek inside, blinking innocently as possible. "What?"
Steam wafts from the bathroom. Jennie is on the edge of the bed in nothing but a bra and some sweats, tying up her hair into a ponytail. The simple image of all of her beauty in a haze of golden light, is a sight that makes you swallow, hard.
She turns toward you, mischievous eyes brightening when she sees you've come back for her.
"Kiss please?" she begs in a voice you know all too well. She reaches out, expectant. Pleading with an expression that makes you a little weak in the knees.
Definitely a trap.
You’ll give her a 9/10 for effort, but you know any tricks she has up her sleeve will only prolong your day even further. Typically, you wouldn’t mind, but you’re nowhere near ready for an interrogation about the pictures you took last night, and you know she’s wondering.
You match her scheming smile, pretending to her request over. "Hm…. you can get all of the kisses you want, after you get up and brush your teeth.”
Just to be annoying, you blow one to her before you leave.
Jennie groans dramatically as you shut the door behind you.

— FOR YOU
PAIRING. Lisa Manoban x Reader
To her credit, she doesn’t back down when she shows up at your home, blood dripping past her fingers, barely even standing on her own two feet. But you both know she’s not here to be saved. She just needed to see you. (2K)
NOWPLAYING. Risk - Deftones
TAGS. mafia!au, injury, blood, lisa's subconscious is a lovergirl till the very bitter end, exes to… hopefully lovers in the future? 😭
Tumblr media
You’re the first one she thinks of.
There’s a burn in her hands from the recoil of all of the shooting. Her legs are shaking from the adrenaline kicking through her veins, from the fear she isn’t supposed to feel tonight. The wind is cold and the streets are empty; she hasn’t felt so exposed in a long time.
Her breathing comes staccato, body weight too heavy, eyes too tired.
Lisa dips into alleyways, keeps a cautious eye around every corner. It is a minute after she’s stopped running that she realizes that she’s even shaking. Not from the cold. But something much worse. Too bitter and lonely for her to put a name to it.
The entire way her gloved hand remains glued to the rushed bandage on her side, and you’re all that’s on her mind.
Not her right hand —Jennie— devoted to a fault (considering she puts up with all of Lisa’s bullshit daily), left chattering into a stomped earpiece blocks away. Not the flock of assistance she called for and narrowly avoided on her way out. Not her best; Rose, Jisoo.
The safehouse was closer. Just a phone call away, really. It was such an obvious choice, but nothing really made sense. Mind too scattered from the rush of it all. Legs moving without thought. Her lungs were wheezing for air by the time she realized she was over a few blocks away, police sirens wailing in the distance.
It wouldn’t make sense if she had to explain herself to anyone else. She knew it wouldn’t, because it didn’t even make sense to her.
She just needed to see you.
Lisa feels so lightheaded and lost she’s nearly sick by the time she reaches your doorstep. Said door is actually unlocked, and she needs a moment to catch what’s left of her breath before she can actually make a move to head inside.
The house is well-lit, but quiet. Warm air envelops her in its tidal wave. Suffocating and dizzying. Lisa closes the door behind herself, confused at the dead atmosphere, but pleased by the lack of disarray around the home.
You step into the hall, phone held between your shoulder and cheek, hands busy holding a laundry basket full of folded clothes. “Finally,” you murmur into the device. You give her a once over, a hint of a frown on your lips that sends a heavy rush of shame through Lisa’s trembling body. “Yeah, okay. No worries.”
You let the phone drop into the basket and turn on your heel, silently telling her to follow you.
Lisa’s heart rattles against her ribcage. It’s so quiet that it’s all she can hear. The hallway sways like a mirage, but she bears it. After all, you’ve been waiting. She doesn’t know how. But you’ve been expecting her. “You…” her words die out as she steps into the livingroom. She might topple over if she tries to juggle speaking and walking right now.
Your shoulders deflate a little as you place the basket next to the couch. Looking up at her through your lashes with another one of those weary looks that makes her bones ache.
“The girls said you might be headed over here,” you murmur, answering her unspoken question.
She presses her hip against the couch as you search for something off to the side, stabilizing herself carefully since you’re not looking.
“You didn’t get any blood on the welcome mat, right?” you ask conversationally, voice too stiff for it to come off as anything but upset.
Lisa shakes her head slowly, unable to speak, breathing too harshly. It’s been so long since she’s seen you. Been in your home. She's barely survived this long without you.
You hum, but Lisa sees the way your hands shake as you grab your phone from the pile of clothes. Guilt eats away at her poor heart, and it hurts more than any physical wound. Maybe this— coming here was a mistake.
Pocketing the device, you place a first aid kit you got from who the hell knows where at the end of the couch.
Another glance, another frown as you take in her state. Lisa is sure she looks like absolute shit, and she can’t blame you for your barely disguised grimace.
“The girls say you’re ridiculously stupid by the way, among other things. I’m inclined to agree with them at this point.”
You stand up quickly, an overwhelming blur in her eyes.
Lisa steps toward you like she’s been pulled by a string, awkward, stumbling, legs unable to hold her weight any longer. The room stops spinning when you catch her by her waist, hands the perfect fit she’s always known them to be.
“Shit, how the hell are you even still standing?” you grumble, nearly vexed. She’s home, but she’s not welcome. “Here.” You guide her by her shoulders, settle her on the couch like you would a child, patient and gentle and everything she used to know you for.
Everything she wanted to protect. Felt like she couldn’t.
Fuck, she feels faint.
You’re so close, legs astride her own, eyes the bright light at the end of the tunnel. An angel in front of her very eyes.
“I’m sorry,” she murmurs, pursing her lips as you expose the gunshot wound that could’ve practically grazed her waist. A clean shot.
With an annoyed shake of your head, all you do is huff through your nostrils in silent retort as you get to work on cleaning the wound efficiently, hands in her peripheral working in the methodical way she’s always admired.
Lisa grabs your shoulder without thinking, barely wincing at the pain that ripples up her body when she leans forward. It’s not the focus; you’re not understanding, or, she’s hoping you aren’t. “I’m sorry. I wasn’t thinking.”
You look down at her, brows pinched together. Golden light from the desk lamp falls onto your side profile. Makes you hazy. She blinks back tears to hold your gaze, flexing her jaw in an attempt to not give in to the knot in her throat.
“Okay, Lisa,” you say, voice softening as you gently force her again to settle back. “You’re lucky this didn’t hit anything important, you better hope you haven't lost too much blood."
Lisa doesn’t know quite what to say to that. Her silence leaves the room devastatingly quiet. It should be more concerning, that she hasn’t thought twice about her haggard state besides the obvious harder-than-usual navigation in places she doesn’t belong. But it doesn’t.
Things like that haven’t bothered her since she left you.
She ditches her gloves off to her side with little care, knowing you know how to dispose of them best. Lisa did teach you after all.
You reach for a half-empty bottle of water resting on the end table she hadn't noticed before. Crimson stains your hands from the crude bandage she’d wrapped earlier, and suddenly Lisa’s aware of how cold she is, almost numb with it.
The drink helps a little, at least with her dizziness.
For that fleeting moment, you watch her, face unreadable.
Lisa feels something spark in the pit of her stomach as she swallows, but you look away far too quickly for her to pinpoint it.
“Why now?” you ask.
She bites back a scream as you brush her wound, fisting the cushions as you murmur a hasty apology. “D- didn’t mean to,” she echoes her thoughts, feeling a bit like a broken record, unsure how to say it without making things worse.
You scoff, rolling your eyes as she tries to breathe through the sting. “We’ve established that.”
“No I-” She winces as you begin to wrap her wound, forcing herself to stay still. “I should’ve never left you.”
Selfish, selfish, selfish, some wicked voice murmurs in the back of her mind.
Lashes flutter rapidly in the corner of her eye and the pause you give lets her know you’re fighting back tears. Everything aches. You let out a long, heavy sigh that Lisa feels in her gut. “But you did anyway,” you force out.
Lisa’s heart plummets. The emotion that threatens to consume her could be enough to kill her on its own.
“Just wanted to protect you,” she whispers. A bead of sweat trickles down her temple as she squeezes her eyes shut, really just trying not to vomit up the words. “Thought you’d be better off. You’re too good for this life.”
“Says you,” you scoff as you begin to finish up, much less angry than earlier. Lisa doesn’t dare to open her eyes. She scrunches her nose instead, thinking. “You’re just- you’re stubborn. Would’ve talked me out of it.”
You pause again. Lisa holds her breath, knowing she’s just said the wrong thing, wholeheartedly expecting fingers to dig into her wound.
You don't.
“I loved you, and you left me,” you murmur instead, and it feels a hell of a lot worse.
She hears it all. Hears you asking, why couldn’t you let me selfish for once too?
Her eyes snap open as her stomach drops. She barely notices how you shift on top of her, pulling away again. “Y- you did?” Lisa stammers, feeling lightheaded with happiness, blood loss, and confusion all the same.
“Of course I did,” you say, scanning her face like you’ve got all the time in the world. As if she wasn’t just bleeding out on your couch, like things were normal again. You’re still so perfect, even after all these months and months of trying to get over you, Lisa can't stop the thoughts. She could really kiss you right now. You’re so warm on top of her, so close.
She wets her lips, looks at yours. Everything feels zoomed in. “Do you still?”
You sigh and shake your head, visibly fed up with the route this conversation has taken as you shuffle back. Panic spikes in her body as she finally registers you moving away.
“You need to eat something,” you switch the subject quite bluntly, pursing your lips in thought, “and likely rest, knowing you.”
She latches on to your shirt. You can easily move away with how weak her grip is, but you pause, frozen under her grip. The word hopeful isn’t anywhere near powerful enough for how Lisa feels after noticing that. “Say it,” she mumbles, pleading but praying you won’t. “Tell me you don’t.”
You frown, avoiding her gaze. “Lisa-”
“Please, Y/n.” She’s begging. Delirious with fear and longing. Her voice doesn’t sound like her own. “I’ll leave after this if you want. You can call one of the girls and- and tell them to pick me up, and I’ll never show my face again.” Lisa swallows a deep breath, lets her fingers press into you, and absorbs the warmth she’s been missing for so long. “I’ll… I’ll disappear from your life completely, okay? For good this time,” her voice drops to a mere whisper. “I promise.”
You turn your head reluctantly, scanning her face for any signs of deceit. Lisa hopes you won’t find any. Hopes you feel her vulnerability and how earnest it is. Because she’s the most truthful she’s been in a while. You’ve always made her weak like that, and she’s found out too late that she needs that. Needs you to be there for her when she needs to soften. Needs to know she can fall back into you when she’s losing herself in the rush.
“I-” You break the silence. Lisa feels her heart stop as you look away again, almost….. shy. “Yes, I still love you.”
You pinch your brows together in the way you do sometimes when you’re thinking. Lisa waits for the regret of confessing to take over your cadence. She waits and she waits, but it never comes, and she swears her relief is palpable.
She allows herself to breathe as you stand.
Mutely, you scoop up her gloves and her bloodied tee to dispose of, quietly contemplating.
“I can stay?” she asks, testing her luck, watching you with starry eyes.
You roll your eyes as you round the couch, putting yourself out of her line of sight. “If you shut up,” you grumble, distracted as you are flustered. Lisa smiles. You’ve extended an olive branch, a way in. This is a second chance and she knows it's her last, but she’s not worried. Not at all.
“Y/n?”
She hears your footsteps stop.
“I love you too.”
You walk away without another word, but Lisa has hope.
