"...I must admit, a wedding scenario wasn't exactly what I had in mind for this last round. My sisters like to tease me because I've not found anyone to date, but... A-anyway! I-I haven't given it much thought, but I think a wedding outside in the snow would be nice. I'd hope the person I'm with likes the cold, or is partial to it, at any rate. My attire is actually my dad's old wedding robe. The same one he wore when he married my mom. ...I'll be honest, when my grandmother suggested I wear it, I was shocked. Even more so that it fit me properly..."

"Sort of. The kimonos I wear are a lot more comfortable than this."

"So... why not wear that then?"

"The kimonos I always wear are more... informal. What you, I and Ted-san have on are more for formal occasions."

"I see... speaking of which..."

"..."

"Yes, it seems our friend is upset that he has to be here in Chuohku, not only once, but twice now."

"...It does make you wonder though, why is Chuohku doing all this, hosting two parties a week apart from each other?"

"I'd like to know the reason to that, myself. If the guards posted around each of the doorways is any hint, I get the feeling that the invitations we were sent were less optional, and more mandatory."

"So these other people here... they were forced to be here like us?"

"Most likely. One cannot, unfortunately, just say 'no' to Chuohku."

"Wow."

"..."

"Poor Ted... what should we do?"

"Let's leave him be for now... we'll see if he's feeling better once the fireworks start."

"All right."

"...I must admit, I find myself out of my element here."

"You've never been to a party, Kotan?"

"I've attended festivals, yes. But nothing so grand as this. ...For example, I believe this is my first time wearing a suit like this."

"It looks rather good on you! I'm sure Ted here is in agreement. Right, Ted?"

"..."

"...Ted?"

"..."

"...Is something wrong with him?"

"I think our friend is uncomfortable being here as I am."

"Why?"

"Well, less you forget, Kokomi-san, this party is hosted by Chuohku."

"...Ah, you mean the government?"

"Yes. ...And Ted-san has... less-than-amicable feelings about them."

*Growls*

"T-Ted?!"

"I'm going outside to smoke..."

“ why did i think it was a good idea to deliver this guy’s gift personally? it’s fucking freezing out here!”

Shu Kawakami shivered from the cold as she made her way up the mountain, in search of Ted Bridges, to whom she was assigned to give a gift to.

“He’s gotta live somewhere up here, at least, that’s what Ririko told me..”

Shu eventually stumbled upon a chalet, sighing in relief. She knocks on the door.

“Does Ted Bridges live here? I’d like to see him, if he’s available. You see, I’m his.. “Secret Santa”? I think that’s what you call it? But, never mind, If he’s not available, I’ll just leave these gifts out here!”

Shu yelled out before setting her two gifts down by the entrance of the chalet.

The first gift was..A bottle of sake!

There was a note attached to the sake, which read,

“This sake was brewed in Nakano. To be honest, I didn’t really know what your alcohol preferences were, so this was the best I could think of. You don’t have to drink it if you don’t want to.”

The second gift was.. A teddy bear?

There was another note attached to the stuffed bear’s ribbon, which simply read,

“For your son.”

Both notes were signed off with the same signature,

“Shu Kawakami, from the Nakano Division.”

And with that, Shu left the chalet, making the long journey back down the mountain.

Opening the door as Shu was setting down the gifts, the young girl felt as if she was staring at a large man-like bear hybrid. The man stared down at the young girl, looming over her while the young Nakano girl just there in fear. She looked down at the gifts she was going to leave sitting down on his doorstep and instead, shaking held them in her hands for the man to take whilst praying he didn't hurt her.

Ted took the gifts, but before he could say or do anything, the girl quickly ran away, leaving the large woodsman staring at her as she ran. Shrugging, he walked back inside his chalet and popped open the sake the girl had brought him. Pouring some in a glass, he gulped it in one drink, letting the beverage warm him up. It was quite good.

Shame the girl ran off so quickly. Ted would have given her some of his homemade brew as thanks. Oh well...

*Sighs* "I really don't like how poorly I'm doing in this competition. I didn't even receive one point last round." *Sighs* "Well, even though I know I probably won't win, I hope that I can at least score enough points to not be in last place. And hopefully this round can help with that. I had to think really hard what song I wanted to sing. So I decided to take one of my father's old songs. He said that he serenaded my mom with this one when I was young. So, hopefully it goes over well."

"A particular gift that I want?" Kotan repeated. "Hmm... no, not really. Truthfully, I'm quite content with what I have right now. My tribe and I, although we do celebrate Christmas and gift-giving, most of what we receive are all simple things. We don't require much. And what we do need, we all pitch in to buy it together. ...But if I have to have one thing, I suppose some new ice skates wouldn't be unwelcome."

"Something I want?" Ted asked. "Like Kotan, I don't really need anything. ...And what I do want, I know full well I can't have." He looks away as he says that. He then sighs. "...If I'm being honest, the one thing I'd love to have more than anything... is my wife back. Just to hear her voice one more time. ...But like I said, I can't wish for things that I know won't come true."

"Hmm... like my teammates, there's also nothing I want. I'm currently happy with my life right now. As long as I have the snow, a mountain path, my snowboard and the fresh air, I'm content. ...But if I absolutely have to have something, I'd like a nice date between Ted and I, where we can just relax and not have to worry about anything."

"I... I'm afraid I may be out of my element here. I hail from a very cold climate, so I don't do really do well in tropical places like beaches. Granted, there is an arctic beach close to Hakodate that I'll sometimes go with my sisters and grandmother. And... while we do make sure to have fun when we go, our main purpose is to clean up the pollution that's made it's way there. ...Now, if nothing else, I think I should cut this short. I'm starting to sweat something terrible in this humidity. I'll never understand how people could live in this sweltering heat..."

So, I decided to show off a talent I'm a little embarrassed to show, yet I'm still proud of: ice skating. My mom taught me when I was young, and Kokomi-san has also shown me a few tricks. "...I question how exactly I was entered into this competition. Was it because Ted-san refused to do so? Is that why he is working as security for this event? If so, he is very lucky. I truly do not feel comfortable having so many eyes on me. Plus, no offense to anyone, but I find contests like this and other such things to be very demeaning to the people involved. I mean, I know that there are those who enjoy it, but still..."

"...Hmm? Oh yes, my costume! Sorry. Uhm, truthfully, I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to be. At first, I was going for a banshee or a ghost. But then I saw this lantern, and I recalled a Japanese yokai called the Chōchin'obake, which is a lantern that is possessed by a demon. I redid my my eyes and well... this was the end result. ...I hope my sisters or grandmother do not see me like this. I really do not wish to scare them. ...Or worse, have them tease me..."

I know the suit is my father's, but where they did get the fox ears and wings from?" *sighs* "Well, at least it suits our heritage, I guess. I would have liked to have been a bear, though. Oh well. Maybe next time. ...Oh, please excuse my rambling. Here, take this. And please be safe."

Ainu Animal Cookies. The Ainu tribe of Hakodate has bequeath you these adorable cookies shaped like bears, foxes, owls and other important animals to them.

Ted - Oni/Ogre

"Don't ask me where I was going with this costume. Apparently, Kotan and his tribe suggested I dress up like some monster called an 'ogre', so I did some research and this was the end result. ...Maybe I went a little too far with the eyes, though. Almost every kid I've opened the door for has run away at the first sight of me. But I guess that's the whole purpose of Halloween. Anyway, here. You're the first person(s) not to run in sight of me, so I guess you can have this leftover candy."

Ogre Paw Cookies. Soft and well-baked vanilla cookies with a gooey chocolate bear ogre paw in the middle of them. Be sure to enjoy them with some ice-cold milk!

Kokomi - Yuki-onna

"You like my outfit? I'm Snegurochka! Or "The Snow Maiden" in Russian. Kotan says that here in Japan, they are instead called, 'Yuki-onna', which is a Japanese snow maiden that appears during winter days and nights, luring travelers to their home in exchange for warmth. It's funny how different cultures have the same fairy tales, just with different names and endings. It makes me want to learn more about them, you know? But anyway! Please take these from The Snow Maiden, and enjoy yourselves this night."

Snow Mints. Small, white circular hard pieces of candy with a spearmint flavor to them. As you pop one in your mouth, you feel your entire body hit with a sudden freeze that clears up after a few seconds. On the bright side, your mouth is minty fresh.

Kotan's Thoughts on Toyama Division

Asato Rikiya

"Asato-kun. He's one of the few people outside of the tribe that I have a good acquaintanceship with. I heard of him after some of the village women went to buy produce from the markets in the city for one of our festivals. His food was quite delicious! And apparently, I wasn't the only one in my tribe who thought so. Though Toyama is a long ways from Hakodate, I went there personally and asked if he had any advice for planting food in the snow. His advice was really helpful. We now communicate via letters. It is always good to hear from him. I should invite him to one of our festivals next chance I get."

Yano Ietsuna

"My tribe and I have always appreciated the value that glass and other minerals have. Besides the fact that they can be sold, they also provide us with tools and resources. Some of the women love glass because of the figurines that it can make. And many of them are usually created by this young man, or rather his uncle. We don't really carry money with us, but we do happily trade any other materials we have for his figures. ...I wonder if this young man or his uncle are good with wood. I'd love to have a large wooden statue of the Kamuy made so we can put it in the middle of our village..."

Kensaku Morimoto

"I've never met this gentleman, but he seems earnest enough. I've always admired the work that physicians and people of medicine do to help those in need. Though we in our tribe prefer simple remedies to heal those who are injured and sick, we know that for more serious problems we must relocate them to a medical facility to heal. We've not had need of this person's services, but it is good to know his help is available should we need it."

ECO BooN

"Quite an extraordinary group of individuals. They seem to have a natural affinity for nature, which is something the Ainu people can respect. ...I wonder if they'd be interested in being honorary members of our tribe. They've certainly earned it, and knowing more about them could help the Ainu people in the long run. I should send a letter to Asato-kun the next time we have a festival to give him and his friends time to prepare."

Ted's Thoughts on Toyama Division

"I'm more familiar with this young man's grandmother than himself. Like Kotan mentioned, I tried some of the produce that his farm is known for, and it was quite good. As a way of showing thanks, I sent off some of the beer that I make to his family's farm. It was hard making sure it got there on time before it went bad, but thankfully it arrived on schedule. About a week later, I got a letter from his grandmother. Apparently, she liked my beer so much, that she was willing to trade some of the produce her farm makes for my beer; I agreed to it. Now, once a month, one of the workers from Rikiya farms comes with a shipment of fruits and vegetables in exchange for five casks of my homemade brew. It's a good trade, if you ask me. The potatoes and carrots his farm grows, makes a very hearty vegetable stew."

Yano Ietsuna

"I'm not familiar with this young man, but I am in good acquaintanceship with his uncle. Why? Because..." Ted reaches into his coat pocket and pulls out a familiar-looking gold heart-shaped locket, which he looks at with a forlorn look on his face. Despite a few faded scratches, it looks almost brand new. "...Manabu was the one who crafted this locket my wife gave to me on her first-year wedding anniversary. This thing is almost the same age as Aiden. I've been taking care of it since..." The mountain man doesn't finish his sentence; instead, he inhales deeply and puts the locket back in his coat pocket.

"...Anyway, as thanks for that, I often send some of my beer to the Ietsunas for their work. I don't know about his nephew, but I know Manabu is a drinker. I can't count the number of times he's asked for the recipe for my beer only for me to repeatedly tell him 'no'." Ted rolls his eyes.

Kensaku Morimoto

"I don't know Morimoto, but I can tell he is a good man who is good at his job. Because I frequently wrestle bears, I often have to deal with the drawbacks of it; mainly, scratches and other wounds. They don't bother me much, but if left untreated, they can become infected. So, whenever I go down to the city, I always stop by the local pharmacy to buy some antibiotics. And the medicine I buy almost always comes from his company, Toi Pharmaceuticals. He's a good medical researcher. I wouldn't be averse to knowing more about him. ...Though I may have to do some research on those jokes of his."

ECO BooN

"Like Kotan mentioned, I think this team is one of the few that I can say that I openly like and respect. I think anyone who shows love and respect for nature is someone with a good head on their shoulders. All my best for them in the D.R.B."

"Although I do like and eat some vegetables, they aren't my favorite food group. I'm rather partial to meats and fish, to be honest. Still, I do know the benefits of a proper diet, so I will eat produce when I must. And I must say... despite not being in Japan for very long, this young man's produce is quite possibly the best I've ever eaten. Ted and Kotan speak highly of the food grown on his farm, and they weren't mistaken. ...Still, perhaps this young man should do more work on his outer appearance, no? That smile of his... it looks like a man who has a career as a stalker..."

Yano Ietsuna

"Ted doesn't speak about her much, but when he mentioned his... wife, he spoke about the locket she gave him. It was quite beautiful. When I asked where he had it made, he pointed me to this young man's glass shop in the city of Toyama. It was quite... plain, but the figurines displayed were quite... pleasing to the eye. I bought a small glass bear figurine from one of the shelves. The young man behind the counter, he seemed a little... emotional. He reminds me of myself when I was still under my father's thumb." Kokomi looks away, slightly annoyed.

Kensaku Morimoto

"This young man is like a great uncle whom I never had. He seems very carefree and earnest. Ted mentions he often buys medicine from his company. He states that they are quite good. I've had no need to visit any medical place since I've been to Japan, but I'll definitely remember him should I have too."

ECO BooN

"Ted and Kotan seem to like this group. I'll admit, they seem nice, if a bit plain. Although liking nature is good, I don't know if I like it as much as the both of them. Maybe interacting with them more will get me more invested in nature. It's something to consider. At any rate, I look forward to seeing what they can do in this rap tournament."
