"i wasn’t supposed to play favorites, but you were mine."
super duper natural. accepting!  /  @beforewecrash.
it takes her a moment to frame the smile that tucks itself into her cheek– a little slow and a little off-center, but no less warm. demure, almost, if you didn’t know her well enough. closer to coy, if you did. dina has circled in close enough to touch ellie, so she does. she curls her fingers in against the open collar of her shirt and toys with the length of a short, frayed thread. chin tilting up, she looks at ellie from underneath her eyelashes. ‘ yeah? ’ she offers a delighted flash of teeth, flattens her palm against ellie’s shirt, then pushes her away by the shoulder.
effecting an air of unconvincing nonchalance, ‘ i was pretty great, wasn’t i. ’

last night a guy said to me “you are very, very pretty” and i said “i know” and he said like patronisingly “you KNOW?” and i said “you think you’re the first person to ever compliment me?” and he didn’t know where to go from there

❛ i had a… friend when i was a kid that grew up in a place like this. the grown - ups called it a “school.” p’ft. it was a nice way of saying “orphanage.” ❜

dina cranes her neck backward, eyeing the exposed brick. her gaze lingers against the chipped concrete, the graffitied walls. ‘ looks like shit, ’ she says simply. it looks like the kind of place you’d escape from, much less live in. she shoots a quick glimpse towards ellie, keeping her in the corner of her eye. ‘ did they ever manage to get out? ’

"no matter what you hear or what you see… promise me you won’t get out of bed."
super duper natural. accepting!  /  @beforewecrash.
ellie has said some pretty cryptic shit in the amount of time she’s known her, most of it much weirder and much more ambiguous than that, so it doesn’t click immediately. dina levels her with an arched brow and a wrinkled forehead.
‘ you can’t say something like that and expect me to listen. ’
the look ellie shoots her is too close to exasperated, too close to agitated, tight enough to quiet her teasing. it isn’t enough to quell her. it’s a look that only winds tighter as dina carefully and quickly unravels herself from her sleeping bag. ( ‘ no. ’ ellie hisses. ) she yanks her boots on and pats herself down to make sure most of her gear is still in place. shortness of time considering, the sleeping bag will have to be left behind, but she has enough on hand to be alright, she thinks, if things go too far south. when she looks up again, slipping her pack around her shoulders, curling her fingers around her bat, ellie seems ready to splinter. her knuckles white are against the curved handle of her bow– why didn’t she notice that from the get-go?– her mouth pressed thin.
‘ you think i’m gonna let you go alone? ’ dina scoffs, voice hushed.
she moves past her before she can answer, sinking into a crouch before she reaches the window. the boards are crumbling, mildewy from recent rains, but it’s cover enough for them both. she feels ellie behind her before she hears her speak, a silent warmth against her back. ‘ i can handle it. ’ she insists. alone goes unsaid.
she lifts one of the looser boards upward with the back of her free hand in slow, millimeter increments. ‘ you shouldn’t have told me. ’ the vantage point is decent, for which she’s thankful that they chose to sleep on the second floor.it takes only moments for her to spot a braided crown of hair and the flash of a bald head, axes in fists, leather trench coats shining dully in the moonlight. she tightens her grip on her bat, gingerly lowering the slat back into place. she can tell almost immediately that they aren’t hunters.
something in her gut tells her that they are something much worse.

one (or more) thing about dina you're looking forward to see in tlou2 ???
OKAY, I KEEP FORGETTING THIS IS IN MY INBOX, SO, WHOMEVER … SENT THIS … THANK YOU SO MUCH BUT I AM ALSO SO, SO SORRY, LMAO
ALSO, DO NOT REBLOG THIS.( non-rp blogs, i’m looking at you. )
i hope we get some insight into her upbringing / background.are there any family members we’ll learn about, those of either blood or circumstance? what was her life before jackson? did she grow up there? did she just move there, ie. is she just as fresh blooded as ellie? like, yeah, i’m perfectly content creating her backstory for my own, but i would also like to know something canon.
religion?this is less important, and i’m even more okay with creating my own theory for that, but, okay, dina wears a bracelet with a hamsa charm attached. ( hamsa is used in both muslim and jewish religion / culture – i, for one, theorize that she’s jewish, which i also want to see confirmed or denied in some capacity. ) doing it for the aesthetic seems much too lazy, and no one really cares about fashion in the apocalypse. so, yeah, it clearly has some measure of significance. is it religious, is it something passed from her parents to her? a friend? and why did she give it to ellie? EDIT: druckmann confirmed dina is jewish, cool! so some of that still applies-- where she got the bracelet, who gave it to her, why she gave it to ellie!
how did dina and jesse meet?did they grow up in jackson together? if instead they both immigrated into jackson, ( or if one moved in, one grew up there, etc. ) did they know each other before? did they settle around the same time? when did they begin dating? when and why did they split up? clearly, although there’s some level of awkwardness that comes with a breakup, it’s obvious that there’s no residual ill will between them, from what we could see.
how did dina and ellie meet?what was their introduction? did they get along immediately– y’know, as well as ellie is able to, given they likely meet almost directly after the events of the first game– or was there some level of initial animosity? all we know is the church scene wherein we see them dance and kiss in the teaser trailer. what is their dynamic leading up and into that moment? how long has dina been flirting with the hopelessly blind ellie?
the dynamic between the trio? trio, being jesse, dina, and ellie. dina has clearly been ellie’s friend for a while, and given the previous romantic relationship between dina and jesse, he’d have been bound to be around both the two girls quite a lot. so, what is their dynamic? how do jesse and ellie get along separately, how do jesse and dina and ellie get along together?

@beforewecrash. cont.
dina looses a snort and throws it at her underhand. ‘ i don’t think sponges usually have frosting in them. ’ she could just barely make out some of the brand. hos-- something. it looks like the same things her dad used to eat. ( no --- those might have been chocolate. she can’t quite recall. ) ‘ you want to wash your clothes with them? -- feel free. ’

"put me in the coffin with both middle fingers up." from ellie.
text posts. accepting!  /  @beforewecrash.
dina’s nose wrinkles, loosing a quiet huff of laughter, but she doesn’t look up from the small fire set up in front of them. ‘ you’re not dying. ’ she reminds her. it is cold, though, enough to chill their noses, their ears, the scant bits of skin left bared to the winter air. it’s damp, too, and a good portion of their discomfort can be attributed to the on-and-off drizzle that’s been following them for more than a quarter of the day.within moments of her reply, ellie sneezes soundly, as if arguing her point further. the look she levels her– as if saying see? what did i tell you?– prompts a small, lopsided smile when dina glances upward to catch it. yeah, winter isn’t over yet, but, ‘ at least it isn’t spring. ’ and, at that: at least they’re on the last leg of their patrol, mere moments away from a hot, crispy meal. ( two squirrels, which isn’t a lot – but it’s fresh. ) they’re both impatient to dig in.
ellie swipes her nose with the back of her hand, sniffing mildly. ( dina knows she doesn’t like the winter. something about the snow, the way she eyes deer tracks in the forest — ellie hasn’t told, and dina hasn’t asked, but she does notice. so, she fills the spaces in between. she talks enough for both of them. ) dina knocks her boot against that of her companion’s, nodding at the pack to their right side.
     ‘ grab a plate, whiner. ’

[ alright, so she was kinda-maybe showing off just a little. a tiny bit. who can blame her? she's like anyone else in town, but past the watchtowers and fences is where ellie feels the most comfortable with herself. she kicks up the craggy incline, grabbing the ledge, and hoists herself up and over onto the flat top. a moment or two is taken to survey the area before she turns and kneels, leaning forward, dangling one hand down for dina. ] i got'cha.
random asks. always accepting!  /  @likeariddle.
dina watches ellie like a spectator to sport. which, in a way, she is. ellie moves with a wicked grace that leaves her staring upward, unabashed and forever impressed. it’s a good angle, too, what can she say? ellie’s muscles ripple beneath the denim of her jeans, the cut sleeves of her faded, pale blue tee showcasing the labors of all her hard work. in the span of a kick and a hop, her friend pulls herself upward and onto the outcropping with an ease borne of endless repetition. see, jesse is powerful. visible. he’s got height, muscle, and a broad set of shoulders to carry himself with. ellie — ellie is smaller. wiry and lean. agile. she’s light on her feet in a way that meets jesse’s strength evenly, move for move. ( the world is not kind to girls weaned on hardship since birth. ellie is a picture rarely to be seen so clear, so solid. bitten teeth, scars left to tell the tale of her victories. she is something to be respected, something to be admired. she is a girl to be loved. she’s done better for herself than she might ever come to realize. ) from her spot atop the rock, ellie plants her knee firmly into the rocky surface of the ledge and sweeps a hand downward, fingers outstretched. ‘ i got’cha. ’
‘ try not to drop me, yeah? ’ for that, she earns a roll of the eyes.
dina steps backward– once, twice, thrice– with a wily grin, giving herself ample room to work her way up. a kick and a hop, right? she darts forward, hand reaching upward to clasp with ellie’s. her trademark boots traded out for a pair of worn sneakers, it takes less effort to kick upward without sliding and slipping. displaced pebbles echo their opinion of her success, drowned out by the huffing grunt that shoves out of dina as her torso meets the edge of the ledge. ellie releases her, stepping back as dina’s hands push down, testing and distributing her weight, finding her grip. she shoves herself upward and onto the the level with her, tiny stones digging into her palms.once both her feet find themselves atop solid ground, dina swipes her hands clean, swats at the front of her pants, and banishes away the stubbornly clinging dust and dirt. as she straightens, she casts a glance at ellie’s profile in the setting sun. three years of companionship bloom warm and careful between them, coupled by an entire horizon lain bare for the taking.
