This is the last post of just pictures of my families moving into their ancient houses. And just some fun(ny) fact about what one of the sims rolled...
Sampsa Imago wants to make a zombie of Mutneferet Bruni, his deceased sister's sister-in-law [husband's sister]. He briefly wanted to turn his mother as well. I know sims often roll wants to revive, but not that often to make zombies in my experience.
It's probably because he's extra grouchy (he's also playful, but I don't think that contributes). I might let him go into the paranormal career track, or become an evil warlock if he'd like to. Sims don't roll wants for that career unless you have a mod (which I don't because I use another want tree file). He's not into the paranormal if it comes to interests, but I don't care about interests. I do have this mod which can help sims born in-game to get more differentiated interests, however.
I gave Sampsa the woodworking table because he really wants to max out Mechanical and he's really close. Once he's done with that I might get him into robotics. He could get himself a servo, or an armored knight servant, because that's the default I use.
This post somehow ended up being about one sim and one sim only, even though I don't even like him that much because he's a meanie.

Another set of graves - this time mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law - are joining the graveyard. I will move their graves a bit when their husbands join them in death.
The Tia household got the colour green because of their connection to plantsims. I think I'll start by playing them because I want to finish Lovi's story.
The founder wants to get a job in Business, which could work (he can become a boss of his own 'company'), but his son and grandson have career ideas which wouldn't really fit, so I'll probably put them in Politics for now.
Are they my favourite family? Maybe. I do like playing supernaturals, but there isn't any supernatural in this household right now.

The last preparations before the new era
I'm moving ghosts to the first ever community lot even if it makes little sense. All toddlers going into aspiration failure in 3, 2, 1...
The emperor's family is all moved in and the kids are embarrassed by how openly the founders are expressing their love to each other outside. It makes sense since they live right in front of the bathhouse. I moved them all into one lot because there is enough space for them there for now.
Their house is empty, but I'm sure they'll tell me what they want. The kids are playing at the activity table together for now.
I don't think I'll play this family first, but I just took a look at their wants. The teen son wanted to go into Science, and I allowed him to get that job. I will need to find a job for the founder in either military or politics (ideally military because I think patricians are more likely to go into politics and I don't want everyone to be in the same career).
When I do play them, one of the daughters will become a teen and the granddaughter will become a child.

I've been building the ancient houses, mostly trying to replicate what I did before in my old hood. I might have gone a bit overboard with the bathhouse. It has a mini clothing store (because as per the rules of the challenge you need a clothing store and I couldn't be bothered to have it on a separate lot), a sauna, hot springs, swimming pools, and hot tubs. I didn't put any bars or massage tables in it though... for now. The plebeian houses should really be apartments but it's more convenient for me to make them into regular lots.
Here is the ranking of the original families I revisited just to double check their standing. Below there is a short summary of each:
Bruni - 122.000$ - no surprises here, the most kids mean you are going to become emperors in this challenge. This family's firstborn son is already dead but he has 2 children. He also has a brother. So it will be interesting to see who will become the emperor of the next generation, because for now it's the patriarch, one of the founders. #bruni
Tia - 113.000$ - patricians - this family consists of the patriarch, his son and 3 grandchildren. The heir's sister is deceased by now, but she was married to the heir to the throne so she'd be the queen mother of the next emperor. Lovi is running away to get married abroad as soon as she can, but that's fine because she has a younger sister and a brother. This family definitely already has connections to the ruling household, and they also have some connections to the occult. #tia
Imago - 105.000$ - patricians - this family consists of a patriarch and his son's family - wife and one child [for now]. Sadly the heir's twin sister is already deceased (she married into the Tia family and had 3 children). #imago
Orange - 60.000$ - plebeians - a family of a father, his son, and grandson (sadly moms died in childbirth due to unfortunate rolls). They have one puppy they acquired from the Wolfens. Because the heir of this family got married in the previous era, they have a connection to the royal family. Damu Orange married Tefnut Bruni (one of the to-be-princesses). The patriarch of this family is a bit of a Casanova. He's been romancing hobby instructors after his wife's passing. #orange
Wolfen - 44.000$ - plebeians - this is the family of the father and son who have got a ton of wolf puppies. The heir wants to get married rich, but I don't know how rich of a spouse he can get. I would have to check if any of the Asian sims count as rich. #wolfen
So who is going to be the servants? I think I'll do what I've done before and if I need to, I'll make them in CAS. I know you are supposed to have servants in the wealthier households, but I didn't always do this, because these households are so big... I also have a 'bonehilda' (spectral assistant - I use a default replacement and a summoner object - careful with this one, I think it creates an NPC but I'm fine with that).

I'm finally ending round IV of the Shang Simla/Takemizu-inspired part of my sim world. After this rotation I will build a bathhouse and officially move my original sims to 'ancient' times. If I need any female marriage prospects for the original sims, I will age up the children from this part of town.
The Tian family got an additional ROS roll, because I felt like the first one was not enough and I had to wait with it till the end of the round. The heir developed a crush on a sim the crystal ball told me he had most chemistry with, but it was unrequited love. I also accomplished a big fear for him. He tried to kiss his crush, but got rejected. Spoiler alert: I had to cheat the relationship down a bit, because the crush was absolutely fine with being kissed immediately after meeting him...
The only teen prospect suggested by the crystal ball was Lovi Tia, and I didn't want to go for the adult hobby instructors. Choosing Lovi might cause more drama in the long run.
Tasuku was rolled to become a Popularity sim, just like his dad. He aspires to be well-liked by all the monks, the customers, his family, and his crush. I really hope no fights will come out of this unrequited crush. Popularity sims like to fight after all, as we all know.
~*~
Fumi wanted to throw a birthday party for one of her kids. And I thought it was meant for the baby who was aging up on that day. The game decided the party was a disaster an hour before it would end, even though baby Fujitaka did age up... So it ended up being a double birthday. Note to self: maybe don't throw parties for babies if some other sim is meant to age up on the following day! It said the baby would age up in 1 day (so on the same day at 6), toddler in 2, child in 3.
It is very sad Hanako didn't learn to walk, but I didn't think Fumi would feel good enough to teach her on time anyway. The daughter will be a Clumsy sim. It feels a bit unfair because the youngest learnt all of his skills, but raising 3 children alone isn't easy for Fumi.
Fujitaka is an Aquarius. He's 6 Neat and Outgoing, as well as 4 Lazy (just like his older brother). He's also 7 Nice like both his mom and sister. But he's only 6 Playful.
~*~
Tasuku opened his business when he became a teenager. The goods in this store were set to expensive just to increase their value a bit. Tasuku tried to keep the store open for as long as he could, but it turned out the Tians needed to sell some animals after all, just selling milk and other products was not enough. Tasuku got to Silver Sales Badge on day 1, and he also got his business to level 3.
I decided to get rid of their goats first, as they were meant to be shepherds. It was Ninurta Orange who decided to buy the goats for their average price. The Oranges are going to be one of the plebeian families, so they could look after animals and perhaps do some cheese and/or butter making.
Lovi came to the opening of the store as well, and Tasuku wanted to sell something cheaper to his crush, but she rejected the offer. Ouch.
They have earned ~1000$ (half of which was earned on the pair of goats alone).
500$ - rent
400$ - tax
100$ - tithe
They needed to pay all they've earned. The total the monastery has earned in this part of town is ~17,000$.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This post will be rather short and that's partly because the Yu family will end up being a single person household for now, due to an unfortunate ROS. They are really getting the short end of the stick. The last round they couldn't afford to pay their taxes because nobody could open the store... and now Shime shall succumb to her illness. I'm going to say she thought her illness was gone, but it turned out to be the opposite and she found herself at death's door...
I infected Shime with pneumonia, then with food poisoning, and finally with pneumonia again, but she would always get healthy again. I'm going to say she wouldn't eat anymore because she was so poorly, and eventually withered. She was feeling so bad on her last day that she didn't appreciate her friend's visit.
Shime passed along her perception business reward onto her only son before she passed away. And upon her death the home business was bequeathed to him as well. I don't think there's a deed to pass if you have just a home business, so I couldn't transfer that.
Because the pond was still frozen and it kept snowing from time to time, I let Sangen have the chess table he wanted to pass the time. I didn't want him to just wander around the house. He got to Logic level 8.
~*~
I have come up with a bio for the son:
Sangen Yu is dissatisfied with his living conditions and the absence of his dad who decided to become a monk when he secured his heir. He also holds a grudge against both of his parents because he had to bring himself up on his own while his mom was sickly in bed.
Had they known Shime's condition was fatal, someone would have adopted Sangen immediately. But alas, he's now left on his own as the sole heir to the Yus' residence. He needs to find someone who won't be just a distant figure in his life.
He holds baking dear to his heart, since in his childhood he would bring cakes to his mom's bed to cheer her up. But he knows that he needs to keep on selling fish as is his family's tradition. Fish cakes anyone?
~*~
Sangen was rolled to be a Popularity sim. Popularity is not something his parents were ever interested in, but I think it shows that he either didn't understand his parents' priorities, or he cared neither for Fortune, nor Family. It's also odd that his dad left his family, despite being a Family sim, so I can understand that he thinks Family is not something worthy aspiring to.
Soji actually came over to visit the family he abandoned (on his own). Perhaps he had heard of his wife's illness. I allowed him to visit his wife on her deathbed.
~*~
Sangen opened the fishmonger's at the end of the round, after his mom had sadly passed away. He got his business to rank 2 (it was rank 1 before). He also got a positive review from the business critic who just loves visiting all my small home businesses.
I didn't write down the exact amount of money he had before he opened the store but he earned ~1400$. The tax is very similar to the one the previous family needed to pay, but the Yus owed double the rent because of the inability to pay last round.
1000$ - rent [for this and previous round]
560$ - tax
140$ - tithe
Sangen Yu cannot afford to pay the tithe, but he will pay all he can, hoping his dad will understand. He had ~1530$ in the bank and paid everything he could. The clergy might be unhappy about the lack of tithe, but there really isn't a separate clergy in town yet and his dad would probably let him off the hook...
I'm probably going to consider households who fail to pay the tithe as unfaithful, or at least doubtful about the Watcher. And I think it fits Sangen Yu, who feels failed by his dad - the embodiment of the clergy, in his mind.

The Siew family is getting a pet from a ROS. Since it was my choice, I decided on a kitty, because I have way too many wolf-dogs already. I found this breed and fell in love with it. If I add any more pets someday, hairless cats are probably next in line, for some variety. I was considering getting hyenas as well.
I rolled for the Li's personality and just changed the colours of her coat and eyes to make her a bit more distinct. I added her to family in hood view, and went through the process of turning Li into a stray and adopting her, but I realized it didn't add any memories of getting new family members.
~*~
The cat was a gift for Yune's birthday, as she was aging up on the first day of spring.
Yong aged up when the round was coming to an end. He was rolled to become a Romance sim, just like his mom... We won't actually have much time to spend with him, so I needed to find a mate for him.
He's probably going to marry Lovi Tia, since she's already a teen and she is a Pleasure sim. Although she is slightly older, they should be able to produce two kids together.
Yong made friends with all the men of the Tia family - the grandfather, the father, and the brother of his future betrothed. Lovi Tia showed up just in time for Yong's birthday, an hour before he would be aging up.
Yong and Lovi both wanted to make out during their date. They also fell in love and wanted to WooHoo. However, the date was about to end and Lovi was starving, so I sent her home. They will have to get married next round.
~*~
Because of the need to purchase some 'furniture' for the new addition to the household, and because they needed to fertilize the rice fields, this family started with almost 0$ (spoiler alert: they also ended the round with about as much).
I allowed Saku to get her last 2 vacation payments and then she quit her job. She opened the store after her son had aged up, on the last day of the round.
She got 375$ x 2 for free before she quit her job. And they earned 654$ in the business. The reported came over again and wrote yet another positive review. The business is now rank 2. Both Saku and Yong got the Bronze Sales Badge, as well.
They earned 1404$ total.
500$ - rent
562$ - tax
140$ - tithe
They technically owed 1200$, but I let them off the hook and allowed them to pay 1000$. That's all they have and it's really because of the pet bowl issues that they couldn't afford the rent.
I absolutely hate finicky pets... I had issues getting this cat to eat from the bowls I have. I decided to give the Au Naturel set a try, but the cat wouldn't eat the prey either, only hunt... I think Li only ate when she was starving. But I kept resetting the bowls, filling them and praying that she would eat. I love pets in real life, but pets in TS2 are... something...

Have a great Easter weekend if you celebrate!
We are starting round IV for the Asian part of my sim world today. I think when this round is over, I will come back to my original founders and move them to the Ancient European times.
There will be no drama for the Laos, but a free chicken... or 2 because you know me, I just had to give them a pair. So they got a free hen and a rooster.
And 18 hens hatched from the hatchable eggs they have gathered this round. I'll have to start collecting only the regular eggs. 20 chickens are more than enough.
Just a disclaimer - this ROS was not at all because of Easter, but coincidentally this post is coming around this time since I have got energy to play only now...
~*~
The man of the house kept rolling wants for his son to get into a private school and for him to become an overachiever. Sadly, he doesn't even know Hisashi's current whereabouts, but he'd be happy to hear he did well at school as a child.
Haru was in the red aspiration for most of the round, because he had to change his daughter's nappy. It is going to take him a long time to fulfill his want of mastering Flower Arranging. But at least his mood got a bit better on Magu's birthday, because he wanted to see her grow up well.
Magu aged up from a baby into a toddler and she's a Gemini like her mother, who sadly passed away. She's 0 Sloppy, max Outgoing, max Active, 0 Serious, and 7 Nice. She must have inherited her sloppiness and outgoingness from her dad who's a Leo (9 Outgoing and 0 Sloppy). Magu's one true hobby is Music&Dance. I believe it's the same as her mom's.
Despite not wanting to change her diapers, Haru taught his daughter all of her toddler skills. However, since his daughter didn't seem interested in learning the Nursery Rhyme at all, he didn't spend any time singing with her. I find it strange she never rolled that want, but it must have been because of her obsession with Logic.
Because Magu played with the rocks all the time and got to level 6 of Logic as a toddler, she discovered the Science lab. The newly generated hobby instructor didn't really know how to handshake a toddler, and I don't blame her. I would have been confused a toddler 'discovered science', too.
Totally off-topic but I got some more face templates in my game, since the custom Around the World templates got infant versions and I love the infant face mod. I didn't get all of them, but I choose 19, so townies generated by the game will quite likely end up with these faces. I'm looking forward to seeing some more variety!
~*~
There was also one pretty creepy occurrence. The runaway son was walking by the lot while Haru was resting, having just found out that he was sick with the flu [because of the chickens, I assume]. The son must be impatiently waiting for the inheritance!
Also, the altar with the urn caught on fire. Just for a few in-game minutes, so nothing bad happened, but I'm going to erect a graveyard soon just to make sure everything is safe.
~*~
Haru was making rose compositions for 96$ each this round. He put them on sale for 135$ each ['expensive']. Haru managed to craft only 10 flower arrangements this round, and he only opened his store once at the end of the round. I was hoping to have him craft more roses, but because of the chicken sickness, I had to keep him in bed more than I had anticipated.
They earned 1,350$.
500$ - rent
540$ - tax
135$ - tithe
1175$ - total to pay (rounded down to 1150$). They are left with 2,976$. The monastery has gathered 13,500$ from all the tax payers so far.
The Laos are blessed with ROS rolls giving them free money, but they don't have the most profitable business, since the florist's is not lucrative at all, considering they need to pay to craft the bouquets. I can definitely envision them trying to sell eggs on the side once they run out of the savings they have.

Hello everyone! This is the last post of round 3, but it's really an extra post, because it's just the monastery lot, where 4 unrelated men reside. They all ended up here because of random occurances making them leave their families for one reason or another.
I rolled if any of the men in the monastery would die, but they wouldn't yet, so I played them as normal, just trying to get Hisashi Lao to age to teen.
I also rolled a ROS and they were supposed to get a wild beehive. I thought it fit very well and I gave them some plants to help. Monks would do gardening anyway, so it made sense. I made one of them learn the Mechanical skill so that he could transfer the bees into an apiary. I gave them lemongrass, thyme, mint, apple, lavender, and rosemary, since these can help with the bees and honey making.
~*~
I employed all the men in the Education career, since I treat the clergy as teachers and knowledge providers. I also used the simlogical school mod a bit for additional assignments and made Hisashi learn as much as he could. He also made friends with all of the men in the monastery.
Both Soji Yu and Yutaka Siew quickly got promoted into Substitute Teachers, while Hiroki Tian was still a Teacher's Aide, which made sense, since he joined the monastery as the last sim (for now). But Hiroki got promoted again on the last day, thanks to a chance card. One of the monks also lost some of the monastery's money because of a chance card, but that's OK. I don't think I'll make the monastery pay taxes, since people will be paying what they owe to them anyway.
Being a Fortune sim, Yutaka got promoted again, this time to the Elementary Teacher. This is where I'll keep him for now, as they have only been teaching children so far.
~*~
Because he moved into the monastery, Hisashi was finally able to continue learning Logic, which is something he wanted to do since his toddlerhood. When he aged up, I gave him a slightly longer hairstyle, because he has got his dad's extremely sharp cheekbones and the previous hair was giving me some invisibility issues. I think he looks all right, but I'm afraid he's going to pass on his facial structure onto his kids as well. He will be moving out of the monastery and starting to live on his own, as he is a Fortune, not a Knowledge sim. If he was a Knowledge sim, I would have kept him in the monastery.
~*~
There really isn't much to say about the monastic life, other than it was mostly skilling and teaching:
Soji Yu was able to max out Nature Enthusiasm, and get the Silver Fishing badge.
Yutaka Siew worked on the skill points needed for the Education career promotions.
Hiroki Tian picked up the Mechanical skill and helped with the bees and the garden.

Today we are finishing round 3 by playing the Tians... but are we really? There are so many sims in the monastery I should probably add it to my rotation, so the next post might be about all the men who decided to leave their families...
It's really hard to believe, but I got another ROS with a person leaving the house, and I rolled it would be the man of the house... I never had it happen so many times (outside of the war ROS, but that's a special case).
So we've got another single mom, but before her husband left, he spent some more time with her and made her pregnant with their last child. I wanted them to have one more kid especially that her previous pregnancy was meant to be twins, so I felt like it would have been important for them to have one more child, not that anything will replace the twin.
I rolled death rolls in advance just to make sure the mom would be able to survive her last childbirth and she's just fine. But it did take them a while to conceive the baby. Maybe it was so difficult partly due to how the previous birth ended for Fumi.
~*~
Hanako aged up and is now a toddler. She is a Virgo. She's 9 Neat. She's just as Outgoing (6) and Lazy (4) as her older brother. She's also 0 Serious (like mom) and 7 Nice (just like both her parents).
The baby turned out to be a boy, so the Tians have an heir and a spare. Baby Fujitaka has the same genetics as his older brother Tasuku, so he also has brown eyes and hair. But he has a slightly darker complexion.
Before I finished their round, spring had come and the goat and sheep gave birth to their young, so Fumi could milk them. She will be selling milk and perhaps wool next round. She might sell one of the adult sheep, hoping the lambs will grow in good health.
~*~
Before Hiroki left, they got one of his paychecks [168$], which allowed them to pay the rent this round.
500$ - rent
67$ - tax
17$ - tithe
I rounded the tax down to 550$, and they are left with ~40$ to set up the store with, so I'll probably just give them the cash register. The town has accumulated 12,350$ so far.

I hope the Year of the Dragon is starting well for everyone!
Today we are visiting the Yu family, and the round won't be very eventful, but that's usually a good thing.
ROS gods weren't mad at Shime Yu and her son Sangen. She saw a witch somewhere in the world, but she cowardly ran away before anything bad could happen. She needed to spend the whole round resting in bed, but she turned out OK (I infected her with the flu, and with food poisoning as well).
The only problem is she wasn't be able to open her store... and they didn't have enough to pay even the rent alone. They are going to be in debt, and it's a first for my historical sims. They will just pay double the rent fee next round, I think.
It is a bit surprising to me the fishermen are having issues paying the bills, but it's because it's a single mom who can't open her business this round. They do have stock to sell but they can't sell it (I don't want to sell in buy mode).
I suppose it makes sense, since it's winter and the pond was frozen over for most of the round. Nobody would expect to be able to purchase fish. The pond did thaw, so Sangen could fish for a little while, which allowed him to get the Bronze Fishing Badge.
Thankfully Sangen aged up from toddler into a child at the very beginning of the round, so he could take care of himself just fine as a kid. He prepared sweets for himself and his mom on the toy oven. He's going to be cooking food for his mom when she's an elder too probably, as his Cooking is level 3 already.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable cupid's day!
The ROS for the Siews just made Saku pay 600$, so that will be added to her tax this round. The members of the Church are supposed to like her less, so I was considering making her husband break up with her, but they just lost their love for each other for now.
Apparently she met a wolf at a 'graveyard' belonging to the Church and she's blamed for the mess caused by the dog. Perhaps she was seen walking around the monastery, where she shouldn't have been wandering...
This ROS makes a bit of sense, as there is one very mean stray wolf barking at all the walkbys.
I don't think remarrying would be allowed for Saku, unfortuantely. But since her reputation is sort of destroyed by the ROS, maybe she would have a baby out of wedlock someday (she wants a baby).
If I had a werewolf in my town, I would have made her pregnant with that creature, but sadly, I don't...
~*~
Yune is a Capricorn just like her older brother Yong. Her personality is not the same, but she's just as Lazy (1), Neat (6) and Nice (6). She's 8 Playful (her brother is max Playful), and slightly more Outgoing (7 instead of 6).
Also, I think both of the kids' One True Hobby is Cuisine, so I am strongly considering getting them a toy stove with 3t2 kid foods, or maybe even this one (though it doesn't look even remotely historical).
Saku taught her daughter all her toddler skills. Her older brother Yong helped her to sing the nursery rhyme (even though he never learnt it as a toddler... maybe he picked it up as a kid).
Shime Yu came over to see Saku and help her with the kids. She's really sweet and I hope for the best for her as the other single mom in town.
~*~
Saku got her business to rank 1, made friends with the business reviewer and got a positive review. She earned ~480$ from her grocery store and 1125$ from work (3 vacation payments), which makes her earnings 1605$ in total.
500$ - rent
642$ - tax
160$ - tithe
600$ - random occurance fine
1900$ to pay in total
I decided I would let her sell dried tea baskets, but not tea canisters. Saku is also allowed to sell all crops which grew from seeds, as well as rice (and perhaps flour someday).
Saku has 2 vacation days left to use next round, after which she'll have to rely solely on the income from her little stall.

We are starting the third round with the Lao family, and unfortunately, a misfortune is awaiting them. It seems like they have run out of luck.
Mazu was already pregnant, which is good, because this family will need at least one more kid... The heir is leaving his family home. For now he's just a kid and it's quite difficult to make children enemies with their parents, so I'm just going to say that Haru was very indifferent towards his firstborn, Hisashi.
When I had this ROS before, I moved a teen out to the monastery permanently, but he was a Knowledge sim... I rolled for Hisashi in advance and he will be a Fortune sim. He is simply not interested in inheriting his dad's business, since it's not the most profitable establishment... or perhaps he's just not into flowers. I'll let him spend his childhood at the monastery, but then he'll start living on his own.
~*~
Mazu unfortunately dies in childbirth, giving birth to Hisashi's little sister, Magu. This baby will live a full live. The Laos will either have this heiress or Hisashi will still inherit, but only after his dad's death... if that happens early.
Hisashi left after his mom passed away. He was way closer to her than to his dad.
Before he left he managed to make friends with the Yus who are the founders of the monastery. Mazu Lao also used to be BFF-s with Soji Yu, so Hisashi will be in good hands during his childhood.
~*~
Haru got the Silver Flower Arranging badge. He also got to Gold Sales level already, which took a very short time in comparison.
He had 10 wildflowers leftover from crafting last round, and he crafted 10 more. Haru sold 20 wildflower bouquets, earning 1220$.
500$ - rent
488$ - tax
122$ - tithe
He needed to pay 1110$ (I rounded it down to 1100$).
I feel like this business is going to flop when the man of the house is left alone to tend to it, and take care of the infant... I'm considering letting Haru sell some flowers from the catalogue. He's at rank 5 and he has the wholesale tree.

We are concluding the 2nd rotation in the Asian part of my town with the Tians. They are getting a free goat from the ROS gods, which makes sense, since they have sheep already. I ended up just giving them 2 goats - a male and a female, for the chance of producing baby goats, because they really just started and they had some disposable money.
I rolled for a ROS for them again, because I felt like I went too easy on them. The 2nd ROS decided I would have to fulfill their wants this round (otherwise I'd need to do the same next round, but for fears). It was not difficult to achieve, but I must say Hiroki had the weirdest wants for a Popularity sim. He wanted to buy stuff, and get some skill points (that part I can understand, as it was autumn). The illness must have changed his priorities in life. Sadly, I couldn't get him a lot of the stuff he wanted (TV? toy dog pen (bunny)? I really wanted to give him a recliner, but the want wouldn't fulfill). He did get to Charisma level 5 at least.
I found a job for the man of the house, as this family is not going to be selling anything for a while. There was a vacancy in the Culinary career, and this is the perfect job for a food provider, and Hiroki's One True Hobby happens to be Cuisine, too. Hiroki also wanted to hire a nanny, but that couldn't happen... I'm guessing that means he prefers going to work instead of staying home though.
~*~
Tasuku is a Taurus. He's 6 Neat and 6 Outgoing just like his dad. He's also 4 Lazy like his mom. But he's also more Playful (9) and Grouchy (3) than both of his parents. Both Fumi and Hiroki are 7 Nice.
Fumi taught Tasuku all of his toddler skills (she actually wanted to teach him all 3, which is quite rare in my game). His dad taught him the Nursery Rhyme, because I wanted him to remember something related to his firstborn.
I wanted to wait with more babies, like I did with the Lao family, but Fumi wanted another baby, and I was supposed to be fulfilling wants...
So their next baby was meant to be twins, but one of them was not meant to be due to terrible rolls. I also rolled 3x at birth, as if it was a twin birth, but Fumi still survived it, so I guess it was just that unfortunate infant. Hopefully they will get one more later, but nothing will replace the unborn twin.
Fumi threw two birthday parties for her firstborn this round, in both cases when the man of the house was at work. Is it offensive to her husband? I don't know, but he works late, so I am not blaming her.
I wanted to add that I'm not sure if Fumi really wanted to throw the 2nd birthday party for her son, or for the occassion of her giving birth. Her husband just came back home and the party was halfway through, when she started giving birth and everyone ran to her. I named the newborn Hanako. She's a blue-eyed girl with black hair.

On the very last night of their rotation the burglar decided to come over. I flipped a coin and it decided that I should let Hiroki beat her up. I flip a coin for it now, because the Anyone Fights Burglars mod is always successful. I think the burglar wanted to steal some of the sheep, but she didn't get to do it fast enough.
Hiroki had two days off, I believe. Overall he got promoted once so he's on level 2 of the Culinary career track, which doesn't pay very well. But he has earned earned 966$ total.
500$ - rent
386$ - tax
97$ - tithe
They needed to pay 986$ (rounded down to 950$) + 500$ rent for last round. They are left with some change they could use to set up a store, but I don't think they'll be selling anything before spring comes.
There is 8800$ in the town's bank... Let's say it was all spent to erect the monastery from earlier, because the unfurnished building is worth around as much. I imagine the monks are starting out sleeping on the floor or something...

Today we are visiting the other single mom's household, but this one should be easier in that there is only one kid and no pregnancy. But also no extra maternity income, so Shime Yu will have to open her fishmonger's. This is also the last chance to fish before winter, unless I decide to give her the Sun&Moon ice fishing. Unfortunately, the pond froze when it was still fall, so Shime didn't get to fish much.
She got lucky with the ROS at least - she just needed to throw a party. I rolled to see which party it should be and it turned out to be a 'baptism', so a birthday party for her baby was the perfect choice. I don't think baptism would be accurate for this region, but the Yu family is very close to water, so performing some water ritual would make sense for them.
Having her monk-husband over was probably a very awkward encounter for her. But maybe the father wanted to make sure their baby is of the same belief. Shime is n o t having her kid taken to the monastery, though.
This ROS was actually perfect for her, because Shime had been wishing to have a party for some time... I find it very interesting she started out with this want, even though she is not a Popularity sim (and she's also extra shy). The same thing happened with Fumi Tian, a Family sim (but at least that sim is outgoing).
~*~
Sangen is a Gemini and he's quite different from both of his parents. He's max Outgoing, as opposed to his max Shy parents. He's 3 Grouchy, while his parents are 7/8 Nice. But he's also max Active, and his parents are 7/8 Active, too. He's 6 playful (his mom is 8 Playful). And he's 6 Neat (his dad is 9 Neat).
Because of the birthday cake age up, Sangen started off with one less day as a toddler, so I later gave him this day back and he managed to learn all his toddler skills and he was taught how to sing the Nursery Rhyme. He will become a child at the very beginning of the next round, just like Yong Siew. ~*~
Shime bought 2 more daisy bouquets and 2 wildflower bouquets... I sold the daisies, because she doesn't need 4 of the same flower pot in this house.
She opened her store on one day this round and she managed to get her store to rank 1. She also got the Bronze Sales badge. She earned 916$.
500$ - rent
366$ - tax
92$ - tithe
She needs to pay 958$ + 886$ for the last round. I rounded it down for her to 1800$.

I don't know what it is, but the Asian part of my town is just cursed with broken households. And I could have seen this coming for the Siews, since the last round Yutaka was not controllable... Well, now he becomes completely uncontrollable, because he's abandoning his family... But before that I had to give them just one more baby, so that the two single moms in town are not too similar, and because I need more kids.
Unfortunately, because he leaves, Saku will need to inevitably quit her job, but not this round - I'll let her take all the maternity pay she can as a 'retirement' payment (that's the only free money my sims get, and I know that's not accurate, but I allow it).
Both the baby and mother survive. And yes, finally we have the first baby girl! I called her Yune. She has black hair and brown eyes.
Her older brother, Yong, turned out to be a Capricorn. He's as Neat, Outgoing and Nice as his mom (6). He's also 1 Lazy (like his dad), and max Playful (his dad has 8 playful points). Although he aged up 'bald', I just had to give the todd some hair, because I'm pretty sure he got the tall forehead of his mother's... I use this mirror toddlers can play with and change apperance with.
Saku only managed to help potty train Yong before she gave birth, so she only taught him to walk after the baby was born. She managed to teach him to talk too (thank God it was autumn). I don't think he'll be able to pick up the Nursery Rhyme before he ages up though, as it'll be his last day as a toddler next round. Yong got quite a lot of body points on the toy at least (probably too many for a toddler).
~*~
Saku was going to work when she and her husband were trying to conceive. l booted Yutaka out as soon as she got pregnant for the final time. The couple had to try for baby twice, because the first baby was not meant to be.
From time to time Shime Yu comes over to visit her friend Saku Siew. They are both single moms now. If I really wanted to, I could probably open a nursery... or have Shime watch over the kids. I'm sure they would be willing to help each other out, but they will both have home businesses, which they should attend to in their own homes.
~*~
She earned 1875$, as it was a full season's round (5 paychecks). I'm going to say she's a retired dancer who is getting a golden handshake... She will have to open the store next round at least once. I think the sims might really need some fresh produce and maybe tea in the winter season.
750$ - tax
500$ - rent
188$ - tithe
She needs to pay 1400$... 3800$ total with the last round's earnings. She had some money left, but I decided to at least buy the necessary shelving etc. to set up her store, so that she wouldn't waste it all at a neighbours' stalls. She already had 3 flower bouquets and 7 fish in her inventory from all the shopping.
Saku Siew will be the only person in town selling tea canisters and harvestables. Everyone is allowed to grow these, but only she will sell them. My sims are not actually getting that many harvestable plants now, as I use the seed mod + mod your dig, so they can only plant what they find, and I use the seasonal Sun&Moon plants, which don't give that many crops.
Funny side note: it was really funny to me because of all the maternity payments Saku got the memory of earning 5000$... while sitting on the chamber pot. I failed to take a screenshot, because she had a wrong outfit on (she had just got another baby bump).

We are starting round 2 of the Asian part of my sim town today with the Laos, the family of florists. This family is quite lucky with random occurances. They got a kaching (+5000), but - spoiler alert - it was not enough to afford the instrument I promised to get for Mazu ($5500). It's from this set here. Saving a bit more money is probably a better choice in the long run, because flower arranging is not very lucrative, and it does need money for crafting.
By the way, sims in my town don't pay taxes on gifts from the gods, or inheritances and such. They only pay taxes based on what they earn in businesses or careers.
Mazu was not feeling very well even after her pregnancy and she was still having nightmares. Because she was so miserable, she wouldn't have had the time to practice music, so I decided to have Haru spend the gift on crafting before they would get the instrument.
I think her mood was so bad because of the environment. Sims really don't like big, open spaces, and their whole house is one empty room. I gave them an outdoor toilet instead of a chamber pot, and it improved the score slightly. I also had some other bug fixing to do... Somehow I couldn't direct them to craft indoors anymore, so I moved the flower station outside.
~*~
The Laos' heir, Hisashi, turned out to be a Leo, just like his dad, but he's slightly more neat (as neat as his mom). He's 4 Sloppy, 9 Outgoing, 6 Active, 6 Playful, and 4 Grouchy.
Hisashi has the same One True Hobby as his mom - Music&Dance. He discovered it while his mom was teaching him the Nursery Rhyme. Mazu taught her son to walk and potty trained him, as well. Haru taught him to talk. As it was autumn, the toddler wanted to keep getting skill points. I might get them a chess table next round, as he skill has the want to improve his Logic to level 6.
I decided to impregnate Mazu on the last day of autumn, at the very end of the round, when the heir was aging up. Their next baby will be born in winter, because I set seasons as spring - autumn - winter, don't ask me why, but it works pretty well. The giving trees they planted are already maturing, so they will be able to light fireplaces.
~*~
They opened their business twice this round. I wasn't really planning to do that, but they had more flowers in stock. I was considering not opening businesses in winter, since they are outside stalls, but I think my sims couldn't afford their taxes at all then.
They sold the 12 flower arrangements leftover from last round, earning 492$ (they were sold for 'average' price). Later Haru crafted 20 wildflower bouquets (one costs 47$ to make). I put them for sale as 'expensive', as their business had reached rank 3 by then.
~*~
They crafted 20 wildflowers -940$, sold 10 of them at an 'expensive' price tag +610$. They also sold 12 daisies crafted last round +492$, earning a total of 1102$.
500$ - rent
441$ - tax (40%)
110$ - tithe
~1050$ = to pay (they paid 1750$, as they needed to pay the tax from last round too; the money was paid to the monk). This round they had to pay almost as much as they earned. I don't like it, but that's what running the florist's is like in TS2.
They only have 4236$ left, unfortunately, which is not enough to buy an instrument. They got to business rank 4. Haru got Silver Sales Badge, and Mazu - Bronze Register Badge. Mazu is also the first member of the Cuisine club in my 'hood, because of spam cooking ramen so much. Actually, I think I've considered this step as unlocking cheese before, as it allows you to serve cheese platters, so maybe they will get to eat something else...
