How do you like get inspired to make ocs❓️❓️(coming from sm who's trying to make more ocs)

To be entirely real with you, a lot of it is 'I like this type of character/trope/collection of tropes I'm gonna make one for myself' yknow what I mean? Sometimes they come to me all at once and sometimes I have to think on it for a while to get a clear picture
