Mangas that I consider classics Part 3

The Kawai Complex Guide to Manors and Hostel Behavior

After his parents transferred to a different location because of work, newly independent high school freshman Kazunari Usa moves into boarding house called the Kawaii Complex upon his mother's request. On an even higher note, Kazunari is going to be living under the same roof as his high school crush Ritsu (who is his senpai). 

But what he did not realize was that the rest of the tenant are a bit “unique” to put it mildly. His male roommate, Shirosaki is novelist (and a pervert). As for the rest of the tenants who are all female, we have Mayumi who is a bodacious elder office lady, who is a crazy drunk and has terrible luck when it comes to love, and on the other side we have college student Sayaka, she might seem innocent but don’t be fooled by exterior image. Last but not least we have Ritsu who I said before is Kazunari’s crush but only social capacity she has is when she is reading novels. 

After getting to know his fellow tenants, Kazunari was obviously petrified at first, but soon gets used to life at Kawaii Complex. I mean who wouldn’t get used to it when everyday is a literal adventure and slowly gets closes the relationship with his crush. 

This manga was and still is comedy gold. Every chapter is just gets me excited to see what the tenants will do next. It’s also great how their reactions come to life on the page, not to mention the addition of the minor characters getting caught up in this groups crazy ways just sweetens the pot even further.

Mr. Fullswing 

A great sports manga in the making! The story follows a 15 year old high school student Amakuni Saruno, who is desperately trying gain a girlfriend. But with his luck, all the girls that he confesses to are crushing on the athletic club students at his school. With all the frustrations that built up inside of him, he finally decides to join a sports team. 

With the help of his friend  Kengo Sawamatsu, they have checked off every sports club the school has to offer, that’s when Saruno finally meets Nagi Torii. After helping carry a couple of training equipment with her, he finds out that Nagi is actually manager to the baseball club. That’s when it hits Saruno to join the baseball club because ends up crushing on Nagi. 

He later finds out at the tryouts that the only thing he is good at from the rest of the student trying out is that he can bat the ball ridiculously far. Thankfully in the last tryout challenge, he was able to make some comrades with Chounosuke Nezu (pitcher), Mei Inukai (pitcher), Pino Tomaru (second), Aoi Shiba (shortstop), Shinji Tatsuragawa (catcher), that form the core of a baseball team. In process, Saruno's team manages to pass the test with Saruno breaking the Muranaka record, hitting the school clock.

But even after passing the tryout, the bar keeps on being set higher with each challenge. Will Saruno be able to keep up to have the confidence in confessing to Nagi. Or will he bow out and regret even joining the baseball club in the first place. 

Another ridiculously funny manga to read. The artwork is rough but thats what makes it so charmful. 

Bakuman 

Mashiro Moritaka is a talented high school artist who has no sense of direction when it comes to making big decisions about his future. Then one day he is confronted by one of his classmates Akito Takagi. Surprised as Mashiro was by Takagi taking an interest him, what really caught him off guard was the fact that he wanted to co-author in a manga together!

Even after Takagi tried to convince him the first time, Mashiro considered “mangaka” to be a trigger word. The reason was because of how much he respected his uncle who was mangaka himself. Sadly his uncle fell under the stress and pressure of being one and killed himself in the process. 

Later on Takagi calls Mashiro saying that he is in front of his crushes house about to tell her Mashiros feeling. He then runs out the door to her house in fit of mixed emotions. When he gets there and sees her, he decided to make biggest choice of his life and tell her that he will be a mangaka. He also promises her that when he finally becomes big in the industry he would propose to her with no regret. Feeling the passion his crush confesses about her dreams of becoming an anime voice actress, and also makes the same promise!

Thanks to this youthful promise, Mashiro and Takagi go to his uncle's abandoned apartment and start creating manga with the motivation to actually be successful. And finally after being denied several mangas that they created from the company, they were publish their very first manga series!

This is one of the first five mangas that I read. I still remember being a freshman in highschool and reading this manga for the first time. I thought to myself that this was a great real life experience to learn. About the industry. About the commitment and patients it takes to finally get a bite in publishing a series. I also thought to myself that when I am finally confident in my own artwork and story telling that I would try and start publishing my own series no matter how long or tiring it took. Even if it is just one manga series I would be proud to have done that at least once in my life.

Medaka Box 

Imagine if pandora's box was outright made into a Japanese manga series. Because that what Medaka Box is all about!

Following along in the perspective Zenkichi Hitoyoshi who is childhood friends with charismatic and attractive Medaka Kurokami. As both are the first ever first-years to become the president (Medaka) and vice-president (Zenkichi) of the student council at Hakoniwa Academy. On Medakas first day as president, she institutes a ‘suggestion box’ to help with any school problem no matter how dumb it is. Along the way she gains more people to join her in her cause to making their school a better place. With their newly acquired members called  Kouki Akune and Mogana Kikaijima.

But as the story become more peaceful their school brings out a whole dark secret that not even Medaka could see coming! It seems the school has been holding dark secrets which leads Medaka, Zenkichi, and the rest to fight off genius superhumans called the ‘Abnormal’s,’ find underground lab experiments and more!

After the whole incident with the ‘Abnormal’s,’ Medaka steps down from her seat as president and decides to have as much as a high school student as she can. Sadly those peaceful days were disrupted by another huge problem that has to deal with Medakas future. 

This manga has so many overpowered character that the fight scenes become god level! I love the fights, I love the characters connections to each other! I love how Zenkichi is probably the most overpowered character in this entire even though he is as average as they come. Definitely a home run with his manga series.

Cage of Eden 

When a plane trip from Guam returning people home to Japan, something unexpectedly supernatural happens and the plane crashes. 

Protagonist Akira who was suppose to be home the next morning from his class vacation to Guam, wakes up in a jungle by himself! After coming to term with what happend and being thankful that he is alive more than anything, he comes to terms about how the plane crashed onto an uncharted island in the middle of the ocean.

He then follows a path that leads him to where the plane crashed last in hopes of finding his friends, classmates and mostly his childhood crush. After reaching the sight he find no one there and one dead pilot. Akira at this point is about to lose all hope. That is until he finds a recording thats fills in the situation as to happened while he was knocked out. At first he was ecstatic cause he found out the most of the passengers survived. But as he keeps watching he finds that the passengers were being attacked from creatures in the dark. This attack led all the passengers to scatter across the island! What’s more is that those creatures that attacked were prehistoric animals!

This was the first thriller survival manga that I read. At first when I read it I could not handle the realistic death scenes that were being drawn in the manga. So it actually took me three time of re-reading this manga from the very beginning to actually appreciate what this magaka was trying to portray. And man was the storyline so good! The only reason why I was able to have the courage to finish this manga, was because my curiosity. I could hear at the back of my head just knocking on the door shouting “HEY WHAT'S HAPPENING! I NEED TO KNOW THE ANSWERS TO WHAT IS HAPPENING!”

Rankings of Fall 2020!

1st Akudama Drive

The opening and endings were on point for a 12 episode series. I loved the action and intensity of the music. 

The animation and artwork was amazing!! I loved the neon lighting and how it looks like a utopia but it’s actually a dystopia if you look closer.

Story flow was what made this anime become number 1 on my rankings. It had it all the point into making a great cyber punk criminal anime!! They had it all from the drama to the complexes to the conspiracies.

2nd Majo no Tabitabi

The opening was cute but not something that I would listen to all the time. 

The artwork is beautiful and clean drawn for our entertainment. 

The story flow was nice. I liked that it was made into a couple of short stories for each chapter. Some were nice and some were creepy as well. I honestly liked how the flow was just just smooth.

3rd Adachi to Shimamura

Music was adorable, it really fit well with how the cute their relationship was. It was like listening to music bubbles pop and the tunes would come out.

The art was also very bubbly both literally and metaphorically. It was really foggy cause they were dreaming a lot.

The story flow was interesting. They had their ups and downs I liked how they mostly were thinking a lot throughout the whole series. It really made them want to understand their feelings.

4th

Ikebukuro West Gate Park 

Music was great the punk rock really got me going when I watching the episode. 

The art was pretty average but still clean and precise. 

The story flow was also similar to that of short stories but in arcs. It really reminds me of Durara!! and how everyone is connected in one way or another.

5th

Golden Kamuy 3

Music was great but not as good as the first opening. The way they divided everything in the opening was pretty good, especially since the two characters have been separated.

The art was great as ever. A lot bloodier since they meet so many people trying to kill them.

The story flow is cut into two parts thanks to the main characters being seperated. This meant there was more ground to cover when came to the 2 different parties.

6th

Haikyuu!! TO THE TOP 2

Music was amazing!!!! I love Super Beaver they are my all time favorite Japanese band. 

The art was awesome as well. I love watching their games in full motion it adds more depth to the mangas story.

The story flow was fast paced and brought more flashbacks as to why these characters always loved volleyball and more. 

7th

Enen no Shouboutai: Ni no Shou

Music was great! I loved the second opening! 

The art had more impact thanks to the addition to a new character that can control volcanic rather than just flames. 

The story flow was evenly paced I liked hoe we got more information from this season.

8th

Tonikaku Kawaii

Music was beautiful, the addition of the traditional music and adding a remix to it made it all the more great.

The art was cute, it was as if they were in this adult/chibi form that just worked for this rom-com anime.

The story flow is great. The dialogue has great timing and character were very on point.

9th

Yuukoku no Moriarty

Music was amazing, it had this good flow of being depressing but then becoming hopeful when Moriarty’s minions started showing up in the opening.

The art was amazing. The contrast between colors really made this anime pop.

The story flow creepy and calculative. I liked how he was always one step ahead of everyone.

10th

Taisou Zamurai

Music was great. The liked the ending more because of how they showed the daily life of the one character who crashes at the main characters place. 

The art was wed but also fun. I think they wanted to modernize the artwork of the original 2000 animes but it just didn’t work out for then. 

The story flow slow at first but then gets interesting when you get to know more about the mystery character in this show. I thought it ended rather nicely.

11th

Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko

Music was ok. 

The artwork was also very beautiful, and just awkward because the slimes in this anime were in 3D.

The story flow very positive, which really contrasted with the main character because of how depressed he was in his old life.

12th

Noblesse

Music was ok

The art was really pretty especially when they showed of their supernatural abilities. 

The story flow was very meh, mostly because not a lot happened to be honest.

13th

Munou na Nana

Music was creepy

Art was very normal

The story flow was honestly not that great.

14th

100-man no Inochi no Ue ni Ore wa Tatteiru

Music was ok.

Art was also ok

The story flow made it interesting since now there is a season 2 on the way.

15th

Iwa Kakeru!: Sport Climbing Girls

Music was ok.

Art was ok

The story flow was great at first but then became a bit repetitive in the end.

Rom-Com anime/manga special!! ❤❤

Ouran High School Host Club

You guys probably know what Ouran High School Host Club is all about. But for those of you who don’t here's a summary and why I highly recommend this! 

This rom-com series mostly revolves around the shenanigans of a misunderstanding. 😂

Haruhi Fujioka is the only full-time scholarship student at the prestigious Ouran Academy. This is a school for the ridiculously rich kids of Japan. As Haruhi was looking for a place to study, they come across what looks to be an abandoned music room, only to turn up as the schools host club!! There Haruhi meets 6 male student that entertain the female students with their own “theme.” 

Shocked by what was happening around them Haruhi accidently breaks an $80,000 vase and must work the debt off as the clubs errand boy. But then they realized that Haruhi has the looks to become an ultimate host club member. But what they didn’t realize was the fact that Haruhi is actually a girl! 

I have both read and watched this series and it is comedy gold! The male character have a very close knit friendship and having a girl in the mix just somehow made them closer. There obviously have been a lot of fights concerning Haruhi and her relationship status with a lot of the members but in the end somethings worked out for the better.

Nisekoi

The story start when the characters were kids. A promise was made with a boy having one locket and a five girls who have keys, but only one of them has the ability to opening said locket. This promise between locket and keys represent the love between the boy and his chosen love. 

Sadly there has been no luck in the matter. Years passed and it seems that the locket has never been opened yet. In fact they even forgot what each other look like. 

Raku Ichijou (the boy who owns the locket) is now in highschool and there has been no luck to his love life. Not only has he been crushing on one of his female classmates, but he is also the only son and sole heir to his father’s yakuza clan the Shuei-gumi. To add more pity onto his unfortunate luck, his underlings have done nothing but fight a newly established Mafia rival called the Beehive. After a couple of month of fighting with each other, both his father and the head of the Beehive gang came to a compromise. Both Raku and the Beehive leaders daughter Chitoge Kirisaki must get married!! 😶😶 To make things even more complicated and to not anger both gangs, they have to start fake dating in hopes of having a peaceful future of any kind. 

It definitely looks like Raku is gonna have even more trouble looking for his one true love than he realized.

This is a great manga that just get my blood going because we really don’t know who is the owner of the key to his locket. Also as the manga goes on Raku is put in a predicament where maybe his one true love has changed after all these years. Definitely a rom-com worth reading! 💞💞

My Little Monster

This story focuses on the relationship between Shizuku Mizutani, an all study no play kinda gal, and a boy named Haru Yoshida, who is all play, no work and rarely attends school. 

One day her homeroom teacher asked her to take some assignments to his house, once they meet Haru stick to her like glue and even confesses to her, which leads Shizuku to start thinking about other things rather than just studying.

This manga really shows how communication and trust is needed to build trust in any kind of relationship. It is also one of those ‘you make me better’ kind of love stories.

Special A

Hikari Hanazono and Kei Takishima have been childhood friend as long as they can remember, and for as long as Hikari can remember she has always been second place when it comes to competing with Kei. 

In taking this competition to a whole nother level, she enrolls into Kei’s prestigious school called Hakusenkan. There Hikaru and Kei have become the top two student and Kei has been able to hold on to his number one spot since day one. But their relationship does not end there. 

Even though Hikari has considered Kei to be her number one rival and best friend throughout childhood, Kei has been in love with Hikari for quite some time. Just about all their classmate (which is only five other people) know about his crush except for Hikari. 

Will Kei be able to finally convey his feelings to her. Or will they just keep on being rivals?

I honestly thought this was cute. Because it is the first time I have seen a girl character be so oblivious to a guy's feelings. She’s spunky and always has this positive outlook on life. Which is probably the reason why he likes her so much. 

Skip Beat

Kyoko Mogami is a 16 year old girl who has been in love with her childhood friend Shotaro Fuwa since day one. Having spent learning how to be the future wife of heir to a ryoukan, Kyoko learned everything from cooking cleaning to even greeting guest. But Shotaro being the punk rock rebel that he is decided to run away from home and make it big in Tokyo as a musician. 

Being the loyal friend that she is Kyoko leaves with Shotaro that very same night in order to help him achieve his dreams. Years passed and Kyoko has done everything in her power from working multiple part time jobs late into the night only to come home early in the morning, not to mention never having any free time for herself. But then on the night that suppose to celebration, thanks to Shotaro becoming one of the top 10 most popular people in Japan, Kyoko snaps when she accidently comes across Shotaro talking to his manger about how needy and overbearingly plain and boring Kyoko was. That very same night Kyoko cuts all ties with him personally and “Pandora’s Box” opens with a clear image to get vengeance against him.

And what better way then to change appearances, and go working as an actress for the talent agency where Shotaro’s rival, Ren Tsuruga works. But with not much money to help her at the beginning of her career the president decided to make a special solution for people like her called “Love Me!” 

Later on Kyoko actually creates real bonds with other people and also meets the famous Ren and creates a weirdly special bond with him. At the same time also forming a real passion and professional outlook in her acting career. 

I love love love Skip Beat. It is funny, dramatic and has the right amounts of love on every level. Not only are they showing the love life between Kyoko and Ren. But she really starts to think about loving herself more because she knows deep down that no one can love her her if she doesn’t start loving herself. Her character and acting development are one in the same. I honestly believe that she takes real life scenarios and uses them as examples for how she she acts as a professional.

Mangas that I consider classics Part 2

ReLife

The story revolves around Arata Kaizaki, 27 year old and unemployed (thanks to his previous company basically blacklisting him), he recently gets cut off from his parents financial support. A couple of days later he meets up with a strange fellow by the name of Ryo Yoake. 

Ryo then offers Arata a deal, either he keeps living his life pathetic with no will or motivation to get out of his rut. Or he takes a the ‘re-life’ program. In this program, he takes a pill that reverts him back to his 17 year old self, this then allows him to re-live 1 year of his highschool life all over again. 

Arata though was suspicious of Ryo’s character in general, agrees to the experiment in hopes of actually changing for the better. He then meets Chizuru Hishiro a socially awkward girl who is need of change herself. 

Through the story they both become close and also interact with their classmates, these interactions then create more connections to what they might have missed during their life as adults.

This was the first manga that I ever read that was fully in color. And I honestly really liked it that way. The story itself was amazing by making sure that it revolves around that character development while also including humor and the right touch of dramatical effect.

 Spirit Circle

‘Fuuta Okeya’ (our protagonist) is your average high schooler (who can see a specific ghosts that likes to hang around him. He also hides a strange burn mark on his cheek) living a normal life. Then one day his routine is broken by a female transfer student called ‘Kouko Ishigami,’ first thing the class notices is a giant scar on her forehead but Fuuta also notices that there seems to be a ghost hanging around her too.

After school ends, Kouka stops Fuuta on his way home, and declares him her enemy and starts attacking him with a circle made of flames. After Kouka finally calmed down, she starts explaining about how they are both reincarnates from multiple past lives, how the circle she attacked him with is called a ‘Spirit Circle’ which is an artifact from one of their incarnates that is able to connect them to their previous lives. Also the fact that they have been enemy for many reincarnations. 

Fuuta (now having obtained his own circle) is at his wits end and has to resolve this problem before one of them gets hurt or worse dies.

I really liked this one because of how the author made reincarnation more adventurous and also treacherous for the characters to deal with. The amount of lives that we see are full of life and loss, yet the side effects of seeing so many lives creates a large strain on Fuuta’s psychological health. It's like having multiple personalities at once all fighting for control over his body.

Blue Period

This manga revolve around a  Second-year high school student Yatora Yaguchi. Bored with his current life, he either studies, or plays around from day till night with delinquent friends. But he has lately he found out that he does enjoy his days like that at all and is secretly jealous of people who have a purpose. 

One day he decide to leisurely walk through the halls of his high school. Coming across the art room where he sees a painting made by a member of the Art Club, and felt a spark. He slowly started his life of studying and delinquency and starts to invest in art classes, so invested in fact that he made the executive decision to make a living with art. 

But with every decision there are hurdles to overcome. His parents (especially his mother) are hesitant over his unique choices. There is also a fact that he part-times at an art school and realizes that that his peers are more experienced than he is when it comes to the subject.

I like this one because the main character was legitimately finding it hard to live life like your average person. But the fact that he is slowly getting better proves that he is sincere about his decisions. I also like how the artist makes their lines in the manga rough as if they are trying to represent life with such lines.

Spy x Family

What happens when a high class male spy takes on a mission way out of his league? He ends up creating a family with each their own secret.

This story definitely follows a high class spy by the name of ‘Loid’ who can only execute this impossible mission by “building a family.” not realizing his beautiful young wife ‘Yor’ is an office lady by day, but is also a notorious contract assassin at night. Their adopted daughter ‘Anya’ is also secretly a mind reader who knows about their secret identities. 

I love this manga because it is hilarious on too many levels. Half of the time the mission is almost a bust because the character can’t seem to keep their separate lives in check. 

The daughter is pretty bratty and too overconfident in her abilities as a mind reader. While the wife is trying to make sure that her superhuman strength and assassin tendencies doesn’t get in the way of being the perfect housewife. As for the spy himself, is trying to make sure they are reigned in and on the same page without blowing up his cover and the mission itself.

Psyren 

Literally meaning Siren and stylized as PSYЯEN.

The protagonist Ageha Yoshina, a high school student who is chosen by an organization called ‘Nemesis Q’ as a “participant” in the ‘Psyren games.’ The games take place in another dimension known as Psyren. 

In this separate dimension, Ageha is given psychic abilities to battle and survive in this wasteland. He is also not the only, Ageha ends up meeting two peers that are also in the same predicament as him, but one them has been playing this game for a quite a while now, while the other is too clueless. 

But as the story moves on, they get stronger and meet more allies and fight even worse opponents. 

I like distinct contrast in the black and white. I’m guessing it was done on purpose so that way we know what is where and don't get lost while we read this interesting manga.

Wonder Egg Priority

The story follows an introverted high schooler called Ai. One night she leaves a deserted arcade with an object called a “Wonder Egg.”

That very night, Ai’s dreams become a reality as she cracks the egg open to find a girl sleeping inside. It turns that she must save this girl from her internal torment that have manifested into monster trying to murder her. 

As the trial keeps on happening, we delve deeper into what troubles Ai and why she became such an introvert. But then that hurt gives the anger and strength she needs to fight back the so called monster and save the girl within the egg. 

As the episodes keep on coming, she also starts to meet other girls her age who are completing these trials for their own reasons. 

Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken 2nd Season

The second season of Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken!! Recap as to what happened last season, Rimuru Tempest was originally you average Japanese office worker who unexpectedly got stabbed while trying to meet a coworker and his coworkers fiance. 

He was then unexpectedly reincarnated as a slime thanks to the “Grandmaster” who gave Rimuru his new body. Along the way he meets a dragon, created a city out of an isolated Goblin village, and started gaining more followers. Also he fought a war against the orcs and won!

By the middle of season 1 he meets a female sword master who is also of Japanese origin but is from a different period of time, also she was summoned not reincarnated. Not long after they got acquainted, she died and Rimuru takes over her body. But with that came a promise that Rimuru would head to the large city filled with humans and become a teacher to try and save her slowly dying student. 

After that promise was fulfilled, he heads back home which is now called Jura Tempest Alliance. With the city now becoming larger and more known to other countries, they start to create solid alliances with older friends and delegate with stronger kingdoms. 

But tension is also running high with the new appearance of a monster kingdom like the Jura Tempest Alliance, especially with humans and the demon lords. 

Will he be able to keep his city and it inhabitants from harm, or will a kingdom just go to far and anger him?

Updates! Black Clover

We have finally started the new arc to Black Clover!!

Asta and the gang have finally completed their six month training and we can actually see some real improvements. Especially with Asta who is now more ripped than ever in the muscle department. But also has better control of his magic where he can even fly with his demonic sword!

As for Yuno, he gets an unexpected called from the orphanage saying their is guest who knows about his origins!?

While all of this is happening the enemy has already started their attacks on the Clover kingdom, and with the Golden Dawn no less!!

Ura Sekai Picnic (A Picnic to the Otherside.)

An unexpected comradery is born, when Sorawo (the girl wearing the red jacket) is saved by Toriko (the blonde girl wearing the skirt) on the “Other Side.” Attracted to the beauty of a such a desolate place, Sorawo is then welcomed by monsters that were only myths and legends from books and chat forums! 

As for Toriko, she has already gotten used to the nightmare of a dimension and has been going back and forth between both world in hopes of searching for long lost friend. While bringing back clues as to how this other dimension work to another friend called Kozakura (girl in the middle wearing the pj’s and holding the shotgun).

One day they decided to go together and explore this dimension in hopes of getting answers. Along the way, Sorawo and Toriko come up against another monster but this time Sorawo decides to look it straight in the eye, this causes not only the genetics in her eyes to change so that she can see the invisible, but also have one of Toriko's hand become more transparent by trying to save her from the mutations that were happening. Now her hand can touch just about anything that is untouchable to a normal human!

Kemono Jihen

In a remote mountain village, a grisly phenomenon involving animal corpses has the adults in a panic. This is where special detective Kohachi Inugami starts to investigate. As he searches for clues, Inugami meets a peculiar kid called Kusaka Kabane who helps Inugami with his search. 

As the days go by, Inugami was able to come across two things in his investigation. One that Kabane is not entirely human and two, the recent animal murders were definitely done by a evil spirit. 

Welcome to the other side of your normal everyday lives. Where the supernatural is real, and they solve crime too. 

Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu

Rudeus “Rudy” Greyrat is the child born from a magician and swordsman. But to make thing more interesting he also has the memories of a previous incarnate of a 34 year old underachiever and what you call “menace to society”

With this blessed new start, he has seized the opportunity of a lifetime to learn magic and sword fighting in this fantasy world. Not to mention with some newly acquired courage Rudy will be taking the world by storm.

Horimiya

The story centers around two high school students Hori and Miyamura who both have a secret life out of public eye.  At school, Hori is proper student who is kind with everyone, and Miyamura is misunderstood as a gloomy pervy otaku. 

But outside of their public peer group, Hori takes care of the house and her younger brother since both her parents are never home due to work. As for Miyamura, he has a very kind heart and is unexpectedly hiding his tattoos and piercings with his so called gloomy demeanor. 

With this new unexpected friendship it not only changes the course of their lives but of those around them little by little.

Kai Byoui Ramune (Doctor of the Supernatural Ramune)

“As long as hearts exist inside people, there will always be those who suffer.” With this suffering, the people who have entered such an unstable mental state “manifest diseases” that are called "mystery disease."

In such rare cases where modern medicine cannot cure such diseases, a Doctor Ramune and his assistant are here to help! Although carefree and a little unorthodox (after watching a couple of episodes I would say pretty sadistic) way of curing his patients.

He is able to find out the root causes of his patients distress and come up with a solution in a heartbeat.

SK∞ (SK8 the Infinite)

The story is an original anime that takes place in Okinawa! Here we are addressed with competitive skateboarding! But these are not normal skater competitions, because they take place in a closed down mine (meaning this stuff should be illegal) that is being run by an unknown donor. 

Reki is a high schooler and skater who is obsessed with these skateboarding competitions called “S” take new transfer student Langa to one of these competitions. 

There, Langa has become enamored with skateboarding as an escape from his snowboarding life back in Canada. So much that he unexpectedly wins his first “beef” with a famous skater called Shadow.

In all honesty this anime really reminds me another called “Air Gear”

Digimon Adventure

A lot more digivolutions have happened since the last update! 

One of them being Agumon able evolve into a whole new digimon called WarGreymon!

But to recap on the story, all the digidestined have been separated once again but in the digital world. Taichi is with Sora and TK chasing after his sister Hikari who was kidnapped by a dark digimon called Darkknightmon!

As they journey through the digital world to save Hikari, they meet new digimon and discover more about the holy war through a newly discovered digimon! As for what happens after that is pretty foggy. But one thing is for sure, is that the other digidestined are fighting the good fight while traveling to a rendezvous point.

Also did I mention that Patamon gets a new digivolution where he turns into Pegasusmon!! (refer back to digimon adventure 02)

Kumo desu ga, Nani ka? (Yeah, so I was reincarnated as a dungeon spider! What’s wrong with that!!)

“I, the protagonist, was just an ordinary high school girl, but suddenly I was reincarnated as a spider monster in a fantasy world.” This happened very suddenly when a specific class of high school students, who were killed in magic circle and reincarnated into all types of different characters of this so called fantasy world. 

But this story specifically follows a girl who was reincarnated into a dungeon spider and has to fend for herself from all types of stronger and more vicious monsters. But thanks to her knowledge of video games from her past life, she has the positivity to keep moving forward.

While on the other hand we see scenes of her classmate all connecting together outside of said dungeon trying to regroup and make sense of their lives.

King's Raid: Ishi wo Tsugumono-tachi

Things have definitely been taking an interesting turn in the story. 

Kasel was able to unlock the next gate into gaining the true power of his fathers holy sword. As he keeps slowly completing his original mission, Kasel and his party have seen many towns and villages that just happen to need their help. 

They even came across a man named Marduk who seems to be the original reason why the demons started a war. And it is also the reason why there will be a second demon war now.

On the other hand Azar and his team of Dark Elf mercenaries were caught in a fight that they definitely were not ready for. It was also against the same Marduk who met Kasel and his party. That fight ended with high casualties.

Jujutsu Kaisen

A lot of things have happened since I last talked about when this anime first started. To start off with Yuuji has finally learned how to use cursed technique, and we were finally able to see Gojou’s sure kill technique. 

What does bother Gojou is the fact that there is a faction of Cursed users out there actually making a plan of attack. Not to mention that the second mission that Yuuji, Fushiguro, and Kugisaki went on was a total trap. 

This then lead to the death of one Itadori Yuuji, only to be revived after making a deal with the Sukuna inside him. A lot of things happened in that allotted time where, where 

1) Yuji’s death was kept a secret so that he could do more training with real life experiences. 

2) they are about to start their sister school trainings with the Kyoto branch.

Dr. STONE: STONE WARS

The second season of Dr. STONE has finally been released! 

Both sides are getting ready for war. While Tsukasa has his capable cave-men warmed up to be ready at any moment. Senkuu has been trying to get least one step ahead before they clash each other head on. Which is why Senkuu has been cooking up a storm with Gen Asagiri the mentalist to make sure they can try and come out on top.

But will they be able to complete their plans in time before Tsukasa notices thanks to his trusty watchdog Homura Momiji. We’ll find out when it comes down to it.

Tenchi Souzou Design-bu

God was able to make the everything on earth light, land, and sea. And yet when it came to making the inhabitants of such an amazing dwelling he contracted-it-out?!?! 

Meet heavens design team where their purpose if to create any living thing ready to order. Each design member has their own knack and specialties. 

Why does this life form look like that? Why does this life form live this way? Watch the trials and successes of the designers and engineers forced to breathe life into God's absurd requests!

2.43: Seiin Koukou Danshi Volley-bu

Kimichika Haijima, now a high school student has moved back to childhood home Fukui after an incident that caused to leave on bad terms with his previous schools volleyball club. On his first day after transferring, he meets up with his childhood friend Yunii Kuroba. 

Yunii who is blessed with the height and reflexes to play volleyball but gets crushed under pressure. Fortunately he gets a bit of a boost when Haijima joins the team with his overwhelming passion and talent for the game.  

Once they joined up with the volleyball team, they meet their hot blooded captain Shinichirou Oda, their vice captain Misao Aoki, and other teammates, which includes Akito Kanno who has to wear long sleeves because of his allergies towards sunlight.

Will Yunii be able to handle the pressure, and will Haijima be able to get along with his new teammates. We will see as the episodes keep on rolling.(And yes you might be thinking Haikyuu vibes much?)

Yakusoku no Neverland 2

The second season of Yakusoku no Neverland has also been released this season! 

To recap on what has happened so far, Emma, Ray and Norman found out that they have been living a lie at Grace Field House. Instead of being raised at an orphanage to one day leave with a family, they were being bred to be fed to monsters. 

The three siblings were able to make a plan to leave Grace fields for good, but then Norman got “sent outside” the gates which leaves Ray and Emma to complete the plan on their own. Fortunately they were able to thanks to the help of all the other orphans at Grace Fields. 

The night they escaped they were able to leave with Fifteen children. In the first episode of this new season, they already run into a trouble and what look like to be a dead end, they run into to Mujika and Sonju. Two monster that have taken a vow to never eat human flesh. 

Thanks to these two helping out with survival skills, with the added clues from “Minerva’s” books and pen. The children are definitely prepared to face their reality, find the humans, and save the rest of the kids from not just their house but the others as well.

Nanatsu no Taizai: Fundo no Shinpan

Our favorite sins are back for another season!! The demon kin are still running rampant all over the human realm. This led to Arthur Pendragon's disappearance and the Deadly Sins members to be seperated.  

Ban and Meliodas have been sent to fend for themselves in Purgatory. King has teamed up with the Archangels and one defecto High Demon to chase after one kidnapped Elizabeth (who btw is also has officially regained her memories but doesn't have much time left to live) to the celestial realms gladiator looking arena. 

On the side Escanor and Merlin are with the Liones kingdoms special knights and a couple of other character trying to fix the crack between the human, celestial, and purgatory realms. While Gowther and Hawk are on a personal mission of their own. Not to mention, Diana is nowhere to be found!

Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season Part 2

Season 2 part 2 finally here to wrap up this arc at last!

To those who probably forgot or haven’t watched it yet, here a few things to know. One Natsuki Subaru has finally met with all the witches. But most importantly, he finally knows who is the witch that might responsible for his “Return by Death.”

The first episode starts off with Subaru at wits end with so many things to worry about. But thanks to his new best friend Otto, he was able to come up with a plan that can help save everyone's lives. 

On a side note Emilia is also at wits end when Puck (her guardian/spirit animal), has officially lost their essence. Thanks to this Emilia was able to actually regain her memories of childhood (but believe me it is not looking good for her). This causes her to hide somewhere in the sanctuary and Subaru has to go find her. 

But before that, Subaru ends up talking to one of the sanctuary guardians Ryuzu Birma in hopes of getting some answers (which happens). Makes a deal with Roswaal to save everyone and break the barrier in sanctuary. Also he pisses off Garfiel, which sets of a chain reaction of him running wild while Otto and Ram try to fend him off long enough for Subaru to do his job.

Hortensia Saga

The series starts off on a dark night when the King was killed by his trusted Duke Rugis F Camellia. This tragedy then causes chaos across the continent. This also leads to the crown princess having to hide her identity in a far off village as a boy called Marius Casterede .  

There she becomes the childhood friend and right handed knight of Alfred Ober. A couple of years have passed since that night of death and bloodshed, and the once united kingdom has broken up into smaller factions.  Leaving everyone in between to be caught up in the chaos. 

Will the hidden princess and Alfred Ober be able to fight this grand war and unite the kingdom once again. Or will the chaos overrun and trample across whatever hope is left.  

BEASTARS 2

SEASON 2 HAS FINALLY BLESSED US WITH ITS APPEARANCE!!! AND THE PLOT IS THICKENING. HERE’S A REMINDER OF WHAT HAPPENED LAST SEASON AND WHAT’S TO COME.

After last seasons incident with Haru (the bunny) being kidnapped by the Shishigumi (the lion yakuza) at the light festival. Legosi (our wolf main character) was able to to save her. 

But after that incident Luis (the deer) became the head of the Shishigumi, and quit school! 

There is also the fact that the original murderer at Cherry Blossom High is still at large, and the community is putting the principle through hot water to not only end this nonsense but to make the student who catches them the new Beast Star. While this is happening Legosi finally meets the schools security guard who put him up to the task of actually catching the murderer. 

Will he be able to find out who the criminal before it is too late? And will Luis be considering making his new job permanent? Let see how far they will go!

Mangas that I consider classics Part 1

Shut Hell

The story of this manga follows a boy named Sudou, who re-occurring dreams of bloody battles from a different era. He is then one gets a visit by a shy and quiet girl named Suzuki. After looking around his workshop and picking up a specific instrument that caught her eye. She plays it and Sudoh then gets transported to the year 1209. There he wakes up as a woman named “Shut Hell” which mean “Evil Spirit.” 

You all probably haven't realized this but the year 1209 was a part of the 13th Century. Set in country of Mongolia where Genghis Khan is reigning supreme!! 

Our main character Suzuki has submitted to the task of of protecting Yurul a prince from one of the fallen nations (who is also carrying something so important that Genghis Khan is after him), while embodying the slowly deteriorating body of “Shut Hell.”

I highly recommend this one because of how the rough artwork really brings out the dramatic effects! In other words the artist really brings out a highly realistic feel. Especially since it is a historical manga.

Grand Blue

Basing off our main character, Iori Kitahara is a newly entered College freshman at Izu city. His new life starting with all the excitement of being independent from his highly conservative family who own a traditional Japanese Hotel. 

He then moves in with his uncle and two female cousins who own and run a dive shop in town called ‘Grand Blue.’ Just as he enters the store doors, Iori is greeted by his overly drunk and astonishingly naked college seniors, and is coerced into joining their diving club.

As the story moves on he meets even more colorful characters, and gets into one mayhem after the other. 

Will Iori be able to survive his freshman year let alone live his dream college life?

The manga honestly just keep on funnier with each passing arc. The characters themselves especially get more devious as time moves on. Which bring a whole new level of mayhem one after the other. I honestly believe that this manga was made to redefine gag comedy. 

Beck

Yukio Tanaka, aka ‘Koyuki,’ is a regular 14-year-old Japanese boy starting freshman year of junior high school. Average as an individual could ever be, this students “boring” life is changed when he saves a very odd dog (called ‘Beck’) being harassed by children. 

Later on Koyuki is approached by ‘Becks’ owner, 16 year old Ryusuke Minami who is aspiring to become a legendary “rocker.” This fateful meeting gave Loyuki and actual purpose on what to do with his life, and decided to become agitar player. 

The story is a very “slice of life” genre where these two and the rest of their band members (vocalist/rapper: Tsunemi Chiba bassist: Yoshiyuki Taira and drummer: Togo) go through trial and error to not only make it big in the music world, but also make their relationship as individuals in their official band called “Beck” (Yes they named themselves after the weird dog).

This is personally one of my favorite and hit me right in the soul. The way these characters come together to eventually break up, only to end up coming back again is pure genius, the reason is because they are also an ‘Indie Band.’ The character development was also well spaced and even well characterized for each individual.

Rankings from Summer 2020

1st 

Re:Zero Season 2 Part 1

Storyline finally getting exciting. After finally going through the witch trials and dying and being stuck in the same death checkpoint. Subaru now has an actual target in mind for the next season! But with soo many new questions needing to be answered, will Subaru finally be able to complete his new mission with all the hints he gathered (from the trials, deaths and witchly meetings) and move on to the next checkpoint.

Opening was also diabolical in a great way!! Instead of spoiling what could be happening in the new anime season, they decided to review what happened in the first season and reminding everyone how ridiculously depressing and dark the anime really is.

The animation also upped its game once again. Especially when it came to talking to the witches, and how he kept on dying over and over and over again.

2nd Deca-Dence 

The storyline was amazing!! It was a very interesting cross between reality and fantasy. I loved how there was a good flow of character development happening and the dynamic between the 2 main characters was off the charts. 

The opening and ending were pretty on point too. A great start to the episodes and the ending had some really refreshing concept art to help end the episode. 

I loved the artwork and the way the characters were animated. It was very lively and colorful like they were real humans and not just any old cartoons. Even the robotic form for 1 of the characters was soo adorable it

3rd 

Appare-Ranman!

The story line was everything I expected and more. The cars were amazing and the character were even better. I had a lot of fun watching this anime, and I believe that a lot of people don’t give it much credit for the little things. 

The opening animation was a bit all over the place but I guess they did it on purpose to show the characters and what their strong points are.

The animation was honestly fun. I am not a big fan when it comes to mixing 3D and 2D animation together. But for this anime it went pretty smoothly.

4th

Fruits Basket: 2nd Season 

The storyline kept on pissing me off!!!I swear to god I pity the Soma children who have to deal with all this unnecessary mental and physical turmoil, and their parents just make it all the more heartbreaking by being very selfish. Not to mention that the head of their house Akita Souma is a woman (which explains the hysterical over possessiveness)!!

The openings were very heartbreaking to be honest. But the artwork was so so beautiful, it was like the openings were telling the audience no matter how painful their turmoil is they will still stand beautifully when the next day comes.

The animations were beautifully drawn and smoothly transitioned from scene to the next. They were very straightforward with a lot of situations from flash back to the present pain shown in the show.

5th

The Great Pretender

The storyline was on point and pretty repetitive but it made sense for the last story arc. Each con heist story had a personal story attached to one of the characters, so it made the pulling of the heist all the more righteous. 

The opening was pretty good. The speedy jazz made a lot more action like. and the silhouettes of the people and places were a great change of pace. Also with out realizing it, they are showing off the places the of where the heist happen. Basically spoiling the anime series, but we really don’t notice it.

Top notch animation, everything is beautiful from the characters to the places. Everything is high quality and just calming. 

6th

Fugou Keiji: Balance:UNLIMITED  

The opening was amazing the color scheme. Always reminding me of the James Bond movies. The ending was also pretty fun to listen too and the 

The story was ok. The character interactions were what made the storyline stick. The one surprise was the fact that the main character joined the police force because of a conspiracy that happened within his family. Only to end having another twist where he finally finds out that his whole purpose was based off of false advertisement.

The animation was pretty great. Every episode ended in a flashy way only because the guy had so much money that he could do whatever he wanted. 

7th

No Guns Life 2

Opening was great as always. You could feel the dramatics though the song. 

Storyline finally went above and beyond. We finally got to see glimpse of everyones past. Especially the main character and what he was like when the war happened and ended, also what happened to all his brethren when the war itself.

Animation was awesome. Especially when it came to the fighting scene. 

8th

Muhyo to Rouji 2

Opening had a bit more pepe in its step. PRobably because they were getting pretty serious into the storyline.

Storyline finally continued the manga series. We got meet a wider range of characters 

Animation was amazing as always. 

9th

Bungou to Alchemist: Shinpan no Haguruma

Opening was amazing. I like how it was a jazz number that. It really seemed to fit the aura of the storyline itself. 

Storyline was interesting because you had a lot of important figures basically playing the main characters. But it seemed that one of them ruled over the rest especially since he was the silent type and also has amnesia for some reason.

Animation was beautiful. Just drawing all those handsome men was a the ultimate fan service any animation company could give. I really hope those animatore got a bonus for their great work.

10th

The God of High School

Opening was interesting to say the least. But not a big fan those types of DJ players. Who knows people must have really liked it.

Storyline, really skipped over a lot of thing from the main story. My guess is because the original storyline had soooo much happening. Hell the webtoon itself isn't even done yet and its been out for like 3 to 5 years.

Animation was amazingly smooth. Especially since they did it all in 2D (not a a single speck of 3D element whatsoever and I loved it.) Also in some of the fights they animated some special effects just adding to that beautiful smoothness that I pointed out earlier.

11th

Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld Part 2 

Opening was not that great.

Storyline is basically overused at this point. Only difference was that Kirito was basically in a coma, which was done by a forced 

Animation was only good that stayed, but I’m pretty sure that they over exaggerate the special effects. You know when the character were doing their Ultimate battle techniques.
